0:00:340:00:37

Hello, nice to see you.

0:00:470:00:49

I'm out and about in my marvellous Makermobile.

0:00:490:00:52

The great thing about my Makermobile

0:00:520:00:55

is that it can go anywhere.

0:00:550:00:57

Wah, Tocky here.

0:00:570:00:59

Mini Maker message...

0:00:590:01:01

Hello, I'm Mimi.

0:01:010:01:03

Hello, Mimi. Can I help you today?

0:01:030:01:06

-Yes, please, Mister Maker.

-I'll be right with you.

0:01:060:01:10

This must be the place.

0:01:270:01:29

Hello, Mimi, how can I help you today?

0:01:330:01:36

Can you show me how to make something with wool?

0:01:360:01:39

Actually, I've got some leftover wool that we can use.

0:01:390:01:43

Now, where did I leave that?

0:01:430:01:45

Oh, I know...

0:01:450:01:47

Here it is, ha-ha!

0:01:470:01:49

This is my old scarf.

0:01:490:01:51

I always keep it handy, in case I'm feeling a bit cold.

0:01:510:01:55

Oh, dear, but look, it's falling apart.

0:01:550:01:59

Don't worry, though, Mimi, that's just given me a great idea.

0:01:590:02:03

Let's try something.

0:02:040:02:06

Try making a wiggly wool picture,

0:02:060:02:10

made from an old scarf or jumper that you don't want any more.

0:02:100:02:14

BOTH: Let's make it!

0:02:140:02:16

But first, we need somewhere to make it.

0:02:160:02:18

HE LAUGHS

0:02:220:02:23

And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:02:230:02:27

Hold on to this, please, Mimi, I'll be back soon.

0:02:270:02:30

Some gloopy PVA glue and a flowerpot.

0:02:330:02:38

A piece of card.

0:02:420:02:44

And we also need some felt. Let's ask Scraps if he can help.

0:02:470:02:52

HONK-HONK

0:02:520:02:54

HE MUMBLES

0:02:540:02:56

Scraps, we need some felt. Can you look in the drawers, please?

0:02:560:03:00

HE MUMBLES

0:03:000:03:02

Thank you.

0:03:020:03:03

RUSTLING

0:03:030:03:05

HE MUMBLES

0:03:050:03:07

You can't see any felt?

0:03:070:03:09

That's because it's on top of your head. Come here, you!

0:03:090:03:14

This is perfect, well done. Thanks, Scraps.

0:03:140:03:17

That's just what I'm looking for.

0:03:170:03:20

So, Mimi, we're nearly ready, but we also need some googly eyes.

0:03:200:03:25

You can find these in an arts and crafts shop.

0:03:250:03:28

I'll be back in...four seconds.

0:03:280:03:30

One...two...

0:03:300:03:33

three...four.

0:03:330:03:34

I'm back. Here we are.

0:03:340:03:38

Here are our googly eyes.

0:03:380:03:41

Excuse me... Brilliant!

0:03:410:03:44

This is what we're going to make, Mimi.

0:03:440:03:46

It's a wonderful wiggly wool picture of a sheep in a field.

0:03:460:03:51

-Baa!

-Fantastic!

0:03:510:03:53

-So, are you ready, Mimi?

-Yes.

-Brilliant.

0:03:530:03:56

Are you ready? Great, let's get making.

0:03:560:03:59

The first thing we'll do is bring in a piece of card for our background.

0:03:590:04:04

We'll stick on some blue felt to our card, using gloopy glue.

0:04:040:04:09

You'll need some green felt for your grass.

0:04:150:04:18

And some scissors. But we must be careful because scissors are...

0:04:180:04:22

-Sharp.

-That's right, they are.

0:04:220:04:24

Cut some wiggly edges to make grassy hills.

0:04:240:04:27

Now we're ready to stick down our green grass.

0:04:270:04:30

Can you help me glue it, Mimi?

0:04:300:04:32

Well done. Right, let's glue this piece on first.

0:04:330:04:37

Stick the other piece on top, like this.

0:04:410:04:43

Now we need to cut out our sheep's face and legs.

0:04:430:04:47

Carefully cut out two rectangle shapes for the legs,

0:04:470:04:51

and a circle shape with ears for the face,

0:04:510:04:54

from a different colour of felt. Now it's time to wiggle our wool.

0:04:540:04:58

If, like me, you want to use an old woolly scarf for this picture,

0:04:580:05:03

perhaps one you've just grown out of,

0:05:030:05:05

always remember to ask permission from an adult first.

0:05:050:05:09

So, very carefully, make a snip into the edge of it, here, like this.

0:05:090:05:14

This will help you pull out your wiggly wool.

0:05:160:05:19

Here it comes.

0:05:190:05:21

If you haven't got an old scarf, you can use any old woolly clothes.

0:05:210:05:26

When you've pulled out lots of wiggly wool,

0:05:270:05:30

you can start to wrap it round a large flowerpot.

0:05:300:05:34

We must be careful not to wrap it too tight.

0:05:410:05:44

Cut the end off the wool. Now we can put these to one side,

0:05:440:05:48

cos we're going to put a big splodge of gloopy glue

0:05:480:05:52

in the middle of our picture, where we want our sheep to go.

0:05:520:05:55

Now we can push our rectangle shapes into the glue first.

0:05:550:06:00

Then we carefully slide the wool off the pot and onto the picture...

0:06:000:06:07

..and push it into the glue.

0:06:090:06:11

We can stick on the sheep's face now.

0:06:140:06:16

Can you put some gloopy glue on there, please, Mimi?

0:06:160:06:20

There's the face.

0:06:200:06:22

Now, our sheep needs eyes, so...

0:06:220:06:25

..here are our googly eyes. Can you put some gloopy glue on these?

0:06:260:06:30

Oh, well done.

0:06:300:06:32

There we go, two googly eyes.

0:06:320:06:36

You can even add a circle of yellow felt...

0:06:360:06:38

Can you put some gloopy glue on, please, Mimi?

0:06:380:06:42

Well done.

0:06:420:06:43

And this will be our sun. Fantastic!

0:06:430:06:46

I think we'll call her Baa-bara!

0:06:460:06:48

-Baa!

-Oh!

0:06:480:06:50

I like your hair too, Baa-bara.

0:06:500:06:52

If you enjoyed that, there are other ideas you could try too.

0:06:520:06:56

How about a lovely lion in the jungle, with a wiggly wool mane

0:06:560:07:01

-and woolly whiskers?

-ROAR!

0:07:010:07:04

Or even a mermaid, with wavy woolly hair, a woolly fish

0:07:040:07:08

and wiggly seaweed. Wiggly wool pictures,

0:07:080:07:12

why don't you try one today?

0:07:120:07:13

We made it. And now your home is where the art is. High five!

0:07:130:07:19

What a wonderful wiggly picture. Well done, Mimi. Bye!

0:07:190:07:23

Ha-ha, lovely!

0:07:250:07:27

It's brilliant being out and about in the Makermobile.

0:07:270:07:30

There's always so much to see and do.

0:07:300:07:33

LAUGHTER

0:07:330:07:35

What's that noise?

0:07:350:07:37

Ho-ho, I know who that is.

0:07:370:07:40

-Whoo-oo!

-Hey!

0:07:430:07:46

-# I am a shape

-La, la, la, la

0:07:470:07:51

-# I am a shape

-La, la, la, la

0:07:530:07:55

# I am a circle

0:07:570:07:59

# I am a triangle

0:08:020:08:04

# I am a square

0:08:060:08:09

# I am a rectangle

0:08:120:08:14

# I am a shape

0:08:210:08:23

# I am a shape

0:08:260:08:27

# I am a shape

0:08:310:08:33

# I am a shape

0:08:360:08:37

# I am a rectangle. #

0:08:430:08:47

What are the rectangles making today?

0:08:480:08:51

Can you guess?

0:08:530:08:54

Any ideas yet?

0:08:570:08:59

What could it be?

0:09:020:09:04

It's a snake.

0:09:060:09:09

Well done, Shapes.

0:09:090:09:11

It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers.

0:09:110:09:15

HE LAUGHS

0:09:180:09:20

Oh, this is a lovely day for a drive in the Makermobile, isn't it?

0:09:230:09:27

TOCKY SQUAWKS

0:09:270:09:29

Minute-make time!

0:09:290:09:31

Hey, it's minute-make time. I'm on my way.

0:09:310:09:34

Here I am.

0:09:470:09:49

-It's minute-make time, everyone!

-Yay!

0:09:550:09:59

Today we're going to make something brilliant to wear on your head.

0:09:590:10:04

No, it's not a woolly hat. It's one of these.

0:10:040:10:07

Oh...that's better. It's a hilarious hat hair band.

0:10:070:10:12

Great, isn't it?

0:10:120:10:14

To make one of these, you will need...

0:10:140:10:17

a pair of scissors, a glue stick,

0:10:170:10:20

a black pen, some card,

0:10:200:10:22

a plastic hair band and a piece of ribbon.

0:10:220:10:25

Do you think it's possible to make one of these in just one minute?

0:10:250:10:31

ALL: No way!

0:10:310:10:33

Oh, I think I can.

0:10:330:10:35

I'm going to have to be quick but don't worry,

0:10:350:10:38

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:10:380:10:42

Yes!

0:10:420:10:44

Are you ready?

0:10:440:10:45

Great, let's make it in a minute.

0:10:450:10:48

Three, two, one...

0:10:480:10:51

Start the clock.

0:10:510:10:52

First we've got to draw a hat shape.

0:10:520:10:55

We do that by drawing a small, thin rectangle

0:10:550:10:58

and then a larger rectangle on top of that.

0:10:580:11:02

I'm going to cut that shape out.

0:11:020:11:04

I must be careful, because scissors are...

0:11:040:11:06

-ALL: SHARP!

-That's right.

0:11:060:11:07

I'm going as quick as I can.

0:11:070:11:11

When you do this, you can be a bit more careful.

0:11:110:11:14

There we go. Across there.

0:11:140:11:17

And then down that side.

0:11:170:11:19

And just a bit over there as well. Move those bits

0:11:190:11:23

to the side. I need to put on some glue,

0:11:230:11:25

here at the side. There and there, like that.

0:11:260:11:29

Then we get our bit of ribbon.

0:11:290:11:32

I put this on top by sticking it at the side there.

0:11:320:11:36

And at the side there.

0:11:360:11:37

That should be perfect.

0:11:370:11:39

There we go. If I turn it over...

0:11:390:11:41

-Quick! Quick!

-..I have a great hat shape.

0:11:410:11:44

Put some glue on the plastic hair band.

0:11:440:11:47

If I stick it on, we've got ourselves

0:11:470:11:50

a hat hair band!

0:11:500:11:52

BELL RINGS

0:11:520:11:53

CHEERING

0:11:530:11:55

And if you've got more than a minute,

0:11:550:11:57

you can make all sorts of hat hair bands!

0:11:570:11:59

Ooh! How about this one?!

0:11:590:12:01

With feathers and a sparkly jewel!

0:12:010:12:04

Ooh! Or this one! It's a round hat, with its own fantastic flower!

0:12:040:12:09

Or you could even do this pointy clown hat hair band,

0:12:090:12:13

with a pipe cleaner trim and pompoms!

0:12:130:12:16

Hat hair bands, made in a minute!

0:12:160:12:18

Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it!

0:12:180:12:23

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look!

0:12:230:12:26

Take a piece of card, draw a hat shape and cut it out.

0:12:260:12:31

Stick a piece of ribbon on the hat above the brim to make a band.

0:12:310:12:36

Glue the hat to the head band and your hat head band is finished!

0:12:360:12:40

Why don't you try and make it in a minute! Bye!

0:12:430:12:46

ALL: Bye!

0:12:460:12:48

Oh, this is fun! Where shall we go to next?

0:12:520:12:56

Hello, Mister Maker!

0:12:560:12:59

Oh, hello!

0:12:590:13:01

Look what we're making today!

0:13:010:13:04

Let's take a look!

0:13:040:13:05

I'm green.

0:13:090:13:10

I'm yellow!

0:13:190:13:21

I am brown!

0:13:280:13:30

I am red!

0:13:390:13:41

ALL: It's a sandwich!

0:13:550:13:57

Well done, everybody!

0:13:570:13:59

Now watch this!

0:13:590:14:01

-HE GIGGLES

-Guess what?!

0:14:010:14:04

It's time for a BIG surprise!

0:14:040:14:09

And these Mini Makers have no idea what their surprise is going to be!

0:14:090:14:12

Or what I'm going to do!

0:14:120:14:14

-HE LAUGHS

-Hello!

0:14:140:14:16

-Hello.

-How are you? You OK?

-ALL: Yes!

0:14:160:14:19

Well, it's great to meet you. Now, would you like to hear a story?

0:14:190:14:22

-ALL: Yes!

-Great!

0:14:220:14:24

-DING

-Ooh! Ha-ha!

0:14:240:14:26

THEY LAUGH

0:14:260:14:27

Once upon a time, Mister Maker and all his friends

0:14:270:14:32

built a BEAUTIFUL big castle.

0:14:320:14:35

And they all lived happily ever after! The end!

0:14:350:14:38

THEY LAUGH

0:14:380:14:40

It was only a short story.

0:14:400:14:42

But it's given me a big idea! I think we should build a big castle!

0:14:420:14:47

-Will you help me?

-ALL: Yes!

0:14:470:14:50

Brilliant! All right then! Freya,

0:14:500:14:52

Asim, Roshan,

0:14:520:14:54

Estelle and Ceren,

0:14:540:14:56

let's make it!

0:14:560:14:58

Now, we're going to make a big castle, aren't we?

0:14:580:15:00

So what should our castle look like?

0:15:000:15:03

I think it should be a grey, black colour.

0:15:030:15:06

Oh, interesting!

0:15:060:15:08

What sort of shapes do you see on a castle?

0:15:080:15:10

-Round and things on the top like rectangles.

-Like rectangles?

0:15:100:15:16

Ooh, yes, what about those, Asim? What about those?

0:15:160:15:19

-Will they make good bricks?

-Yeah.

-Show me.

0:15:190:15:21

Will they make good bricks. Brilliant!

0:15:210:15:25

-I think we're ready to start making, aren't we?!

-ALL: Yeah!

0:15:250:15:28

Let's go! Come on! Lead the way, Freya.

0:15:280:15:31

We're making bricks for our castle!

0:15:340:15:36

A big castle needs big towers!

0:15:430:15:45

Our castle's going to be on a big, green hill!

0:15:490:15:52

We're having great fun making our BIG castle!

0:15:540:15:58

So why don't you have a go making a smaller one!

0:15:580:16:02

Try making a creative and colourful castle.

0:16:020:16:06

Make it, play with it, have fun with it!

0:16:060:16:09

You'll need a small box, a round pot,

0:16:090:16:14

a tube, scissors,

0:16:140:16:15

paint and a brush, some glue,

0:16:150:16:18

newspaper and a paper plate,

0:16:180:16:20

some coloured paper and a black pen.

0:16:200:16:24

Carefully, cut the box and the tube, like this.

0:16:240:16:30

Bring in the round pot and cover everything in gloopy glue.

0:16:300:16:35

Then cover it all in newspaper pieces,

0:16:370:16:40

and leave it to dry.

0:16:400:16:43

Now stick all the containers on to a coloured paper plate.

0:16:430:16:48

Then paint bricks onto your castle.

0:16:520:16:57

You can even paint a drawbridge to keep everybody out.

0:17:030:17:07

When that's dry, you can decorate the towers

0:17:100:17:13

with paper squares, like this.

0:17:130:17:16

Why not glue window shapes on as well.

0:17:170:17:19

And add some extra detail with a black pen!

0:17:270:17:31

Now your fantastic castle is ready to play with!

0:17:340:17:38

What a super, small castle!

0:17:390:17:42

But I wonder how our big castle's coming on?

0:17:420:17:45

Ah, yes! Excellent painting, everyone!

0:17:450:17:48

Let's keep going! Come on!

0:17:480:17:50

This is going to be the drawbridge.

0:17:500:17:52

We're making vine for our castle.

0:17:560:17:58

And let's make a sunny background!
