TOOTS HORN | 0:00:46 | 0:00:47
Oh, hello! Lovely to see you. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
This is my marvellous Makermobile. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
I've come out for a drive. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
I wonder what we'll see today? | 0:00:55 | 0:00:57
Tocky here, Mini Maker message. | 0:00:57 | 0:01:01
Hello, I'm Jamie. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
Hello, Jamie. Can I help you today? | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
Yes please, Mister Maker. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:07
I'll be right with you. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:09
TOOTS HORN | 0:01:09 | 0:01:11
This must be the place. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:28
Hello, Jamie. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:32
Now how can I help you today? | 0:01:32 | 0:01:34
How can I paint without a paintbrush? | 0:01:34 | 0:01:37
How can you paint without a paintbrush? | 0:01:37 | 0:01:39
Good question. And can it be done? | 0:01:39 | 0:01:41
Of course it can. | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
Instead of using a paintbrush to brush paint onto paper | 0:01:43 | 0:01:47
we could use something else to print paint onto our picture. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
You can use all sorts of different things for this like... | 0:01:51 | 0:01:55
your hand! High-five! | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
Ha-ha! | 0:01:57 | 0:01:58
But do you know what, | 0:01:58 | 0:02:00
I think we could use something much funnier to print with. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:04
I've just had a great idea. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
Let's try something. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
Print yourself a fantastic forest picture, | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
using cabbage leaves. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
Yes, you heard it right. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:16
Leaves from a cabbage. | 0:02:16 | 0:02:18
Let's make it! But first, we need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:22
Ha-ha ha-ha! Check your pockets. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
I don't suppose you have a spare cabbage? | 0:02:28 | 0:02:31
Oh well, | 0:02:31 | 0:02:32
never mind. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:33
I know just the place I can go to get everything we need. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:37
I'm off to the Doodle Drawers. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
Some paint. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:46
Some paper. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:52
Some paper plates, and a glue stick. | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
Wo-ho! | 0:03:01 | 0:03:02
And of course we need a cabbage. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
And I know who can help us find one. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
It's time to call Scraps. | 0:03:07 | 0:03:09
Scraps, I need your help. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
Remember that cabbage I was saving for my tea? | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
Can you find it for me? | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
Thank you. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:23
Oh, yeah. I'm ready, Scraps. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:25
Oh, great throw, Scraps! | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29
Thank you! | 0:03:29 | 0:03:31
So Jamie, this is what we're going to make today. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:35
It's a fantastic forest picture. | 0:03:35 | 0:03:39
Made by printing cabbage leaves. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
-So, are you ready? -Yes! | 0:03:41 | 0:03:43
Are you ready? Brilliant. Let's get making. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:47
Now the first thing we do is take our cabbage, Jamie. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
We're going to very carefully tear off the leaves. | 0:03:50 | 0:03:54
That was quick. Well done, Jamie. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
Now we push our leaves inside out, that will give us a better print. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:08
Well done, Jamie. That's it. Pop it on. | 0:04:08 | 0:04:12
There we go. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:16
Brilliant! | 0:04:16 | 0:04:17
We'll leave our leaves for a while | 0:04:17 | 0:04:19
because it's time to get our paint ready. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:23
And you can help me with this, Jamie. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:25
Let's put our paper plates out. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:27
Can you put a big squeeze of dark green paint there, please? | 0:04:27 | 0:04:31
And you'll need a squeeze of light green as well. | 0:04:31 | 0:04:35
Well done, Jamie. That's brilliant. | 0:04:35 | 0:04:38
Now I'm just going to take a paintbrush. | 0:04:38 | 0:04:42
I'll very gently spread it around the plate. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:45
That makes a nice thin layer. | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
Our paint is ready. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:50
Let's get a nice clean piece of paper, like that. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:54
I'm going to find one of the biggest cabbage leaves. | 0:04:54 | 0:04:58
That one looks good. | 0:04:58 | 0:04:59
Carefully push it into the paint so the whole leaf is covered. | 0:04:59 | 0:05:04
Right, now Jamie, if I pick up this leaf, there we go... | 0:05:04 | 0:05:09
Oh, it's very painty. | 0:05:09 | 0:05:13
Let's push a leaf gently down onto the paper | 0:05:13 | 0:05:16
and when I lift it off, watch what happens. | 0:05:16 | 0:05:20
There! We get a fantastic print. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:22
What do you think that looks like? | 0:05:22 | 0:05:25
A tree. | 0:05:25 | 0:05:26
It does look like a tree, doesn't it? | 0:05:26 | 0:05:29
And now we can do as many tree prints as we like | 0:05:29 | 0:05:32
with the big leaves. | 0:05:32 | 0:05:34
Fantastic. | 0:05:35 | 0:05:37
Now we use a smaller leaf and a lighter-coloured paint | 0:05:37 | 0:05:41
to make some smaller trees. | 0:05:41 | 0:05:44
Right then, we're going to leave our leaves to dry for the moment. | 0:05:47 | 0:05:52
We're going to choose another sheet of coloured paper for a background. | 0:05:52 | 0:05:58
We take a sheet of green paper as well, this is the same size. | 0:05:58 | 0:06:02
And this is going to be the grass at the bottom of the picture. | 0:06:02 | 0:06:08
So let's tear off a nice long strip along here. | 0:06:08 | 0:06:12
There we go. | 0:06:17 | 0:06:18
We glue it at the bottom like that. | 0:06:18 | 0:06:21
Now can you help me here, Jamie? Thank you. | 0:06:21 | 0:06:23
And now, we can glue it on. | 0:06:24 | 0:06:27
Next we need to cut out our dry printed leaves, | 0:06:29 | 0:06:32
-but be careful because scissors are... -Sharp. | 0:06:32 | 0:06:36
Arrange your leaves on the background to look like a forest. | 0:06:40 | 0:06:45
It works best if you put down the bigger, darker leaves first. | 0:06:45 | 0:06:49
Great. | 0:06:49 | 0:06:51
Now we need to stick them down. | 0:06:51 | 0:06:53
You can help with this, actually. | 0:06:53 | 0:06:55
Put a big bit of glue there for me. Thank you. | 0:06:55 | 0:06:59
We're finished. They look fantastic. | 0:07:03 | 0:07:05
You could try other ideas too. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:07
How about using different colours to make a multi-coloured forest? | 0:07:07 | 0:07:12
Or you could even use gold and silver paint. | 0:07:12 | 0:07:16
Like this night scene, with a printed silver paper moon. | 0:07:16 | 0:07:20
Fantastic pictures made by printing with a cabbage. We made it! | 0:07:20 | 0:07:25
And now Jamie, your home is where the art is. High-five! | 0:07:25 | 0:07:29
Yay! | 0:07:29 | 0:07:31 | |
What a fantastic cabbage-print picture. | 0:07:32 | 0:07:35
Well done, Jamie, goodbye. | 0:07:35 | 0:07:37
TOOTS HORN | 0:07:37 | 0:07:38
It's brilliant being out and about in the Makermobile. | 0:07:38 | 0:07:42
There's always so much to see and do. | 0:07:42 | 0:07:45
GIGGLING | 0:07:45 | 0:07:47
What's that noise? | 0:07:47 | 0:07:49
Oh! Who could it be?! | 0:07:49 | 0:07:52
SHAPES: Hey! | 0:07:54 | 0:07:57
I am a Shape. | 0:07:59 | 0:08:01

I am a square. | 0:08:19 | 0:08:20
I am a rectangle. | 0:08:24 | 0:08:26
I am a Shape. | 0:08:33 | 0:08:34
I am a Shape. | 0:08:38 | 0:08:39
I am a Shape. | 0:08:42 | 0:08:44
I am a Shape. | 0:08:48 | 0:08:49
I am a square. | 0:08:56 | 0:08:57
What's hiding in the squares? | 0:09:00 | 0:09:02
Can you guess? | 0:09:05 | 0:09:06
Any ideas yet? | 0:09:10 | 0:09:11
Hmm... | 0:09:14 | 0:09:15
What is it? | 0:09:15 | 0:09:17
It's a koala! | 0:09:19 | 0:09:20
Well done, Shapes! It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers. | 0:09:22 | 0:09:27
HE LAUGHS | 0:09:29 | 0:09:31
HE TOOTS THE HORN | 0:09:31 | 0:09:33
Oh, what a beautiful day for a relaxing drive in the Makermobile. | 0:09:33 | 0:09:38
TOCKY SQUAWKS | 0:09:38 | 0:09:39
Minute-make time! | 0:09:39 | 0:09:41
Hey, it's minute-make time! I'm on my way! | 0:09:41 | 0:09:46
This must be the place! | 0:09:57 | 0:10:00
It's minute-make time, everyone! | 0:10:06 | 0:10:09
THEY CHEER | 0:10:09 | 0:10:11
And here's what we're going to make today. A hairy bug! | 0:10:11 | 0:10:15
Wow! Look at that. It's fantastic. | 0:10:15 | 0:10:19
Now, to make one of these, you will need an old garlic press. | 0:10:19 | 0:10:26
Some scissors, a pencil and we'll also need some air-drying clay. | 0:10:26 | 0:10:32
You can get that in an art and craft shop. | 0:10:32 | 0:10:35
I'll be back very soon. | 0:10:35 | 0:10:38
Wow! I've got it! | 0:10:42 | 0:10:44
In here is our air-drying clay. | 0:10:44 | 0:10:47
There it is. | 0:10:48 | 0:10:49
Now, do you think it's possible to make this hairy bug in one minute? | 0:10:49 | 0:10:55
ALL: No way! | 0:10:55 | 0:10:57
Well, I think I can, although I will have to be very quick. | 0:10:57 | 0:11:01
I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready? | 0:11:01 | 0:11:05
ALL: Yes! | 0:11:05 | 0:11:07
Are you ready? | 0:11:07 | 0:11:08
Great! Let's make it in a minute. | 0:11:08 | 0:11:11
ALL: Three, two, one. | 0:11:11 | 0:11:14
Start the clock! | 0:11:14 | 0:11:15
Let's get a lump of air-drying clay. | 0:11:15 | 0:11:18
We're going to roll and squidge it | 0:11:18 | 0:11:21
into the body shape of our creature. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
There we go. That will be good. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:26
Fantastic. Let's get another little bit of air-drying clay. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:30
We're going to put it inside the garlic press like that. | 0:11:30 | 0:11:35
Push it through. | 0:11:35 | 0:11:37
It all squidges out the other end. | 0:11:37 | 0:11:39
I'm using scissors, and scissors are... | 0:11:39 | 0:11:42
-ALL: Sharp! -That's right. | 0:11:42 | 0:11:44
Let's cut very carefully there. | 0:11:44 | 0:11:48
Now, I can put this hair on top like that. There! | 0:11:48 | 0:11:52
He's got spiky hair, like me! | 0:11:52 | 0:11:54
I need to get two small balls of air-drying clay. | 0:11:54 | 0:11:58
If I push those at the top there, | 0:11:58 | 0:12:00
these are going to make the two eyes. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:03
I use a pencil to make one hole and another hole. | 0:12:03 | 0:12:07
Two eyes. And another hole here for his mouth. | 0:12:07 | 0:12:11
And there you have a hairy bug! | 0:12:11 | 0:12:13
-Come on! -CHEERING | 0:12:13 | 0:12:15
Yay! Just made it. And if you've got more than a minute, | 0:12:15 | 0:12:19
you can paint your hairy bug, like this one. | 0:12:19 | 0:12:22
And you can make all sorts of hairy bugs. | 0:12:22 | 0:12:25
How about this one, with a green body and orange hair? | 0:12:25 | 0:12:29
Or this one, with an orange body and blue spots? | 0:12:30 | 0:12:33
And lots of wild, wiggly hair? | 0:12:33 | 0:12:36
Hairy bugs made in just a minute. Why don't you have a go? | 0:12:36 | 0:12:40
Here's a reminder of how to do it! | 0:12:40 | 0:12:43
Let's go back to the beginning and take another look. | 0:12:43 | 0:12:46
Roll a ball of clay into a body shape. | 0:12:46 | 0:12:49
Squeeze a smaller piece through a garlic press to make hair. | 0:12:49 | 0:12:53
Stick it on the body. | 0:12:53 | 0:12:54
Stick on eyes and use a pencil to make eyeballs and a mouth. | 0:12:54 | 0:12:58
Now you've made a hairy bug! | 0:12:58 | 0:13:00
Why don't you try and make a hairy bug in a minute? | 0:13:02 | 0:13:06
They're very cute! | 0:13:06 | 0:13:08
IT ROARS | 0:13:08 | 0:13:09
I don't know about a hairy bug - that one's a scary bug! | 0:13:09 | 0:13:13
-I'm getting out of here, everyone. Goodbye! -ALL: Bye! | 0:13:13 | 0:13:17
HE TOOTS THE HORN | 0:13:17 | 0:13:20
Oh, I love driving the Makermobile. Where shall we go to next? Oh! | 0:13:20 | 0:13:26
-ALL: Hello, Mister Maker! -Oh, nice to see you! | 0:13:26 | 0:13:30
Can you guess what we're making today? | 0:13:30 | 0:13:32
What are they going to make? | 0:13:32 | 0:13:35
I am orange. | 0:13:38 | 0:13:40
I am purple. | 0:13:44 | 0:13:46
I am dark blue. | 0:13:48 | 0:13:49
I am pink. | 0:13:54 | 0:13:56
I am black. | 0:13:58 | 0:13:59
I am red. | 0:14:01 | 0:14:02
I am yellow. | 0:14:08 | 0:14:10
I'm light blue. | 0:14:18 | 0:14:20
ALL: It's a jack-in-the-box! | 0:14:24 | 0:14:25
Well done, everyone. See you next time. | 0:14:25 | 0:14:28
Now, watch this. | 0:14:28 | 0:14:30
Hello. | 0:14:30 | 0:14:31
Are you ready for a big surprise? | 0:14:31 | 0:14:36
These Mini Makers have absolutely no idea I'm on my way | 0:14:38 | 0:14:42
or what we're going to do. | 0:14:42 | 0:14:44
-Hello! -ALL: Mister Maker! | 0:14:44 | 0:14:48
Are you OK? Now, are you ready for some delicious art? | 0:14:48 | 0:14:52
ALL: Yeah! | 0:14:52 | 0:14:53
That's great, because... Oh! | 0:14:53 | 0:14:57
THEY LAUGH | 0:14:57 | 0:14:58
..I think we should make a big arty feast. | 0:14:58 | 0:15:02
-So, will you help me? -ALL: Yeah! | 0:15:02 | 0:15:04
Brilliant! All right, then - Jack, Leah, Shaunette, Kieran and Emily, | 0:15:04 | 0:15:09
let's make it! | 0:15:09 | 0:15:11
Everybody, we're going to make a fabulous feast. | 0:15:11 | 0:15:15
-What shall we put in our feast? -Oh! Jam sandwiches! | 0:15:15 | 0:15:19
Jam sandwiches? Do you know what my favourite food is? | 0:15:19 | 0:15:22
-I like Brussels sprouts in custard. -THEY LAUGH | 0:15:22 | 0:15:26
What's wrong with that? It's very tasty. | 0:15:26 | 0:15:29
Do you like that? | 0:15:29 | 0:15:30
All right, are we ready to start making? | 0:15:30 | 0:15:33
-ALL: Yeah! -Let's make it! Lead the way, Leah, come n. | 0:15:33 | 0:15:36
I'm squirting on lovely tomato sauce. | 0:15:41 | 0:15:45
I'm putting cherries on the cake. | 0:15:45 | 0:15:49
I'm painting the watermelon pink. | 0:15:49 | 0:15:52
This is going to be a fantastic fish. | 0:15:54 | 0:15:57
So, we're going to paint red here | 0:16:00 | 0:16:03
and we're going to paint yellow out here, OK? | 0:16:03 | 0:16:06
What do we have to do, Jack? | 0:16:09 | 0:16:11
We have to wait until it's dried, then we can sit down for our feast. | 0:16:11 | 0:16:15
Oh, that sounds nice! | 0:16:15 | 0:16:17
We're having great fun making our big fantastic feast. | 0:16:19 | 0:16:23
So how about making something tasty for yourself? | 0:16:23 | 0:16:26
Try making a wonderful wobbly jelly. | 0:16:27 | 0:16:30
Make it. Play with it. Have fun with it. | 0:16:30 | 0:16:33
To make one, you'll need a clean, empty plastic pudding bowl, | 0:16:33 | 0:16:38
some gloopy glue, red food colouring, a brush, | 0:16:38 | 0:16:43
a coloured paper plate, some scissors, | 0:16:43 | 0:16:46
cotton wool, tissue paper balls and coloured craft foam. | 0:16:46 | 0:16:50
Take the food colouring and add a few drops to the gloopy glue. | 0:16:50 | 0:16:55
Then give it a good stir. | 0:16:55 | 0:16:56
If you find this tricky, get an adult to help you. | 0:16:56 | 0:17:00
Take your plastic pudding bowl and use the painty mixture | 0:17:00 | 0:17:04
to paint inside it. Then leave it to dry. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:07
Now, turn over your dry bowl and stick cotton wool | 0:17:08 | 0:17:12
and tissue paper balls all around the bottom edge. | 0:17:12 | 0:17:16
And then you can do the same on the top. | 0:17:19 | 0:17:21
It looks like cherries and cream. | 0:17:21 | 0:17:24
Now take your piece of craft foam | 0:17:24 | 0:17:26
and carefully cut out lots of little diamond shapes | 0:17:26 | 0:17:30
and stick them between your cherries and cream. | 0:17:30 | 0:17:33
And your jelly is finished! | 0:17:35 | 0:17:38
This is such a yummy idea, you can use different sized plastic pots | 0:17:38 | 0:17:43
to make all sorts of delicious jelly puddings. | 0:17:43 | 0:17:47
Oh! What a jolly good jelly. | 0:17:50 | 0:17:52
But I wonder how our big feast is coming along. | 0:17:52 | 0:17:55
Oh, yes! Very nice! | 0:17:55 | 0:17:57
Where's she gone? | 0:17:57 | 0:17:58
-Hello! -There you are! Ha-ha! | 0:17:58 | 0:18:00
And now, we need somewhere to have our fantastic feast. | 0:18:00 | 0:18:04

But yours is just beginning. | 0:18:41 | 0:18:43
It's time to put the Makermobile back in its box. | 0:18:43 | 0:18:47
