Art from your garden! That's a nice idea

and this is a very nice garden.

What we should do is search everywhere, high and low,

until we find something that will help us make something.

Let's have a look round, Sophie.

A twig! Well look at that.

This tiny twig looks like a tiny tree. Ha-ha!

And it's just given me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making your own fantastic twinkling tree

with terrific twigs from a garden.

BOTH: Let's make it!

But first we'll need somewhere to make it.

Sophie, will you collect some other twigs like this from your garden?

-Yes.

-Thank you. Off you go.

That's it. I'll get the other things we need from the Doodle Drawers.

Some coloured paper or card.

Some glitter and coloured paint.

Hmm. We also need a paintbrush.

I've got my favourite one in here somewhere.

I wonder if Scraps knows where it is?

Scraps, I'm really sorry to wake you,

but I've lost my favourite paintbrush.

Sophie, how did you get on? Let's have a look.

Wow! Lots of terrific twigs. Well done.

We're nearly ready to start, but we need one more thing

and that is some air-drying clay.

You can find this in an art and craft shop.

Wait there, Sophie. I'll be back in five seconds.

One, two, three, four, five.

Whoa! I'm back with some air-drying clay.

This will help us make our twinkling tree,

a little bit like this super-sparkly one here.

So then, Sophie, are you ready?

-Yes.

-Great.

Are you ready? Brilliant. Let's get making.

We're going to start by picking our favourite looking twig.

This one looks good.

We're going to push it into a ball of air-drying clay.

It's a good idea to do this on some old paper or a tray.

Now we need to leave this to dry.

It might take quite a while, but don't worry.

You can use that time to do something different - robot disco!

Now your air-drying clay should be dry and hard.

Perfect. You can paint it in whatever colour you like.

I think we'll do our one a lovely light purple.

Does that sound like a good idea?

-Yes.

-Well, I'm glad you think that

because you're going to help me paint it.

Here we go. Grab your brush...

..and get painting.

Mind me fingers! Don't paint me fingers!

That's it. Well done, Sophie. You did a great job there.

Whilst the paint is still wet we're going to sprinkle glitter

all over our tiny tree and then leave it to dry.

Then put your dry tree on some coloured card...

..and then put another piece of coloured card behind it.

There you have it -

a fantastic, terrific, twinkling tree

And you can make some more in the same way.

It's a twinkling tree at night

with white branches and silver glitter.

Or you can make a really big twinkling forest

with lots of trees. Why don't you try making some today?

What a beautiful day for a relaxing drive in the Makermobile.

Minute-make time.

Hey, it's minute-make time. I'm on my way.

SCREECH

Here we are.

It's minute-make time, everyone!

Today we're going to make something from old pens

that don't work anymore.

Yes, that's right, because these are going to become pen people.

Now, to make a pen person

like this one here

you will need a glue stick, some stickers,

a black pen, an old pen lid,

a ball of modelling clay,

some feathers and a small pom-pom.

Do you think it's possible to make this pen person in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

Well I think I can! I will have to be very quick,

but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

ALL: Yes!

Are you ready? Great! Let's make it in a minute.

ALL: Three, two, one!

Start the clock.

The first thing we're going to do is push our modelling clay

into the lid and then we're going to push in these feathers.

There's one there and one in the side here.

There we go.

Then one in this side here as well.

There. That's looking good.

I'm going to get these stickers

and draw on black dots for eyes.

That's it. Let's get these stuck on.

There's one eye going on.

And there's another eye going on there.

There we go. These triangle shape stickers

are going to be a bow tie. There's one.

Oh-ho! And another side there.

We also need some glue here

and a pom-pom in the middle like that.

And if we put it back on our pen

we get ourselves a pen person!

-Ha-ha-ha!

Phew! I made it.

Now if you've got more than a minute

you can make a whole family of pen people.

This one's got orange and yellow

feathers with a sparkly bow tie.

This one's got woolly hair

and beads for eyes.

This one's got googly eyes

and a pipe-cleaner bow in its hair.

Pen people made in a minute. Why don't you have a go?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

'Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

'Push modelling clay into an old pen top and stick in feathers.'

Make eyes and a bow tie with stickers.

Stick on a pom-pom nose

and your pen person is finished.

That's brilliant. We could make a steering wheel out of this as well.

I think we should make our bus,

Let's paint the sign on our bus yellow.

We're going to make our sign. What name should we put on it?

-Mister Maker.

-Good plan.

-There you go. We did it! Come on!

We are painting the lights on the bus.

We're having great fun making our bus,

so why don't you have a go?

Try making this brilliant box bus.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it.

To make one you will need an old cereal box, stickers,

paint and a paintbrush, plastic lids,

a glue stick, a pen and some photos of yourself.

Take an old cereal box and paint it a bright colour,

with a black strip at the bottom like this.

Then leave it to dry.

Now glue your lids to the side of the box to make wheels.

Make sure you do both sides.

Next take some rectangle-shaped stickers

and stick them onto the bus for windows.

If you haven't got stickers you can stick on rectangles of paper.

Then use smaller stickers to, add other details

like the number plates...

..and the lights.

Now the bus needs some passengers,

so why not stick pictures of yourself,

or even your family and friends

to the windows?

Or you can always cut pictures out from an old magazine.

To finish it off add some details with a black pen.
