Hello! Fantastic to see you, I'm out driving in the Maker Mobile. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:52
And who knows what we'll see today. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:55
Ah! Mini Maker Message. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:59
Hello, I'm Ailish. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
-Hello, Ailish, can I help you? -Yes, please, Mister Maker. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:06
I'll be right with you. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
I've arrived. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:25
Hello, Ailish. How can I help you today? | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
-Cam we make a space picture? -A space picture, eh? Oh! | 0:01:32 | 0:01:37
I've always wanted to go into space. Hmm. | 0:01:37 | 0:01:42
'OK, then Captain Ailish, start the countdown. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:46
'Three, two, one, lift off! | 0:01:46 | 0:01:49
'Here we go! Oh!' | 0:01:49 | 0:01:51
Hey, Ailish, I've just had a great idea. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:58
Let's try something. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
Try using water and a sponge to make a crazy space picture | 0:02:01 | 0:02:06
with a rocket blasting into a multi-coloured galaxy. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:10
BOTH: Let's make it! | 0:02:10 | 0:02:12
But first we need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
Ha-ha-ha! And we'll also need some things from the doodle drawers. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:23
I'll be back soon. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:24
Some paper, some card and a paintbrush. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:31
Some brightly coloured squirty paint. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:39
A glue stick and some circle shape stickers. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
Ah, we also need some water and a sponge. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:54
Let's ask for some help. | 0:02:54 | 0:02:56
PEEP PEEP! | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
Scraps! We need some water and a sponge. Can you help? | 0:02:59 | 0:03:04
Mm-mm-mm! | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06
CRASHING AND SQUEAKING | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
GLUGGING | 0:03:08 | 0:03:10
Oh, Scraps, well done. | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
Look at that, some water and a sponge. Brilliant. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:20
Ah, ha-ha! | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
Right, I'm going to be really careful with this. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:25
So this is what we're going to make today. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:30
It's a super space picture, complete with a rocket, | 0:03:30 | 0:03:33
blasting off into a multi-coloured galaxy. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:37
-So are you ready? -Yes. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:39
Are you ready? Great, let's get making. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:42
The first thing to do is make a very special watery paint mixture. | 0:03:42 | 0:03:47
That's made up of half paint... | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
..and half water. | 0:03:51 | 0:03:54
Now we need to give this a good stir. There we go. | 0:03:56 | 0:03:59
Can you grab a brush and get stirring? | 0:03:59 | 0:04:03
Well done. You can make a watery paint mixture | 0:04:04 | 0:04:08
for every colour you want to use. It's up to you which you choose. | 0:04:08 | 0:04:13
Well done, good job. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:27
Now we've got lots of colours of watery paint. | 0:04:27 | 0:04:30
It's time to bring in some plain paper or card | 0:04:30 | 0:04:34
and wet it with a wet sponge. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:36
With a paintbrush splodge the painty mixture onto the paper. | 0:04:40 | 0:04:46
It's a great effect and look how the mixture soaks into the paper. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:51
Remember to use lots of nice, bright colours. | 0:04:51 | 0:04:55
And then leave it to dry. | 0:04:55 | 0:04:57
There, all dry and very colourful. Now it's time to make our rocket. | 0:05:02 | 0:05:06
Draw around your thumb onto some coloured card | 0:05:06 | 0:05:10
to make a pointy rocket shape. | 0:05:10 | 0:05:13
Do the same onto some yellow card to make the flame trail. | 0:05:13 | 0:05:19
And carefully cut out both pieces. | 0:05:19 | 0:05:22
Then add some finishing touches | 0:05:22 | 0:05:25
with coloured circle-shaped stickers. | 0:05:25 | 0:05:28
You can help here, Ailish. | 0:05:28 | 0:05:30
If I move these over here, can you stick on the windows for our rocket? | 0:05:30 | 0:05:35
Well done, it looks like our rocket is ready. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:41
Let's stick it onto our multi-coloured space background. | 0:05:41 | 0:05:46
Can you put some glue on the back, please? | 0:05:46 | 0:05:49
Well done. The flame trail goes on first. | 0:05:52 | 0:05:55
And then the rocket on top. Fantastic! Look at that! | 0:05:57 | 0:06:01
We've finished! If you enjoyed that, | 0:06:01 | 0:06:05
there are other space pictures you could try. | 0:06:05 | 0:06:09
This one has lots of twinkling stars around a paper moon. | 0:06:09 | 0:06:14
Or you could do a super space picture | 0:06:14 | 0:06:17
with different coloured paper planets. | 0:06:17 | 0:06:19
-So, what do you think of our space picture? -Good. | 0:06:19 | 0:06:23
Brilliant! We made is and now your home is where the art is. | 0:06:23 | 0:06:28
High five! | 0:06:28 | 0:06:29
What a fantastic space picture. Well done, Ailish, bye! | 0:06:29 | 0:06:36
Ah! ha-ha. I love being out and about in the Maker Mobile. | 0:06:36 | 0:06:41
The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting... | 0:06:41 | 0:06:44
SQUEAKING AND GRUNTING | 0:06:44 | 0:06:47
What's that noise? | 0:06:47 | 0:06:48
Oh, I know who that is! | 0:06:49 | 0:06:52
Wheeeee! Yeah! | 0:06:55 | 0:06:58
# I am a shape | 0:07:00 | 0:07:01
# I am a shape | 0:07:05 | 0:07:07
# I am a circle | 0:07:09 | 0:07:13
# I am a triangle | 0:07:15 | 0:07:17
# I am a square | 0:07:19 | 0:07:22
# I am a rectangle | 0:07:24 | 0:07:26
# I am a shape | 0:07:33 | 0:07:35
# I am a shape | 0:07:38 | 0:07:40
# I am a shape | 0:07:43 | 0:07:45
# I am a shape | 0:07:48 | 0:07:49
# I am a rectangle. # | 0:07:56 | 0:07:58
What are the rectangles making today? | 0:07:58 | 0:08:04
Can you guess? | 0:08:07 | 0:08:09
Any ideas yet? | 0:08:12 | 0:08:14
-It's a cow. -MOO! | 0:08:18 | 0:08:21
Well done, shapes, it's time to get back in the doodle drawers. | 0:08:21 | 0:08:26
Ha-ha-ha! | 0:08:29 | 0:08:31
This is a lovely day for a drive in the Maker Mobile, isn't it? | 0:08:35 | 0:08:41
Whah! Minute Make Time! | 0:08:41 | 0:08:43
Hey, it's Minute Make Time. | 0:08:43 | 0:08:45
I'm on my way. | 0:08:45 | 0:08:47
Here we are. | 0:08:59 | 0:09:01
-It's Minute Make Time, everyone. -ALL: Yeah! | 0:09:07 | 0:09:11
Today we're going to make something using pasta. | 0:09:11 | 0:09:16
No, not that type of pasta, this type of dried pasta. | 0:09:19 | 0:09:24
It's called spaghetti. | 0:09:24 | 0:09:27
We're going to use it to make this pasta creature. | 0:09:27 | 0:09:30
It's a hedgehog and its spikes are made out of spaghetti. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:35
To make a pasta creature, you will need - | 0:09:35 | 0:09:38
some dried pieces of pasta, you can use whatever type of pasta you like. | 0:09:38 | 0:09:44
But today we're using broken up pieces of spaghetti. | 0:09:44 | 0:09:48
We're also using a little pom-pom | 0:09:48 | 0:09:51
and we'll need googly eyes and air-drying clay. | 0:09:51 | 0:09:55
You can find these things in an art and craft shop. | 0:09:55 | 0:09:59
I'll be back soon! | 0:09:59 | 0:10:02
I've got them. | 0:10:05 | 0:10:07
Right, here is our air-drying clay. | 0:10:07 | 0:10:10
And our googly eyes. | 0:10:10 | 0:10:13
Now, do you think it's possible to make this pasta creature | 0:10:13 | 0:10:18
-in just one minute? -No way! | 0:10:18 | 0:10:22
Well, I think I can. I'll have to be very quick though. | 0:10:22 | 0:10:26
Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready? | 0:10:26 | 0:10:31
-Yes! -Are you ready? Great, let's make it in a minute. | 0:10:31 | 0:10:36
-Three, two, one! -Start the clock. | 0:10:36 | 0:10:40
We get our ball of air-drying clay and pinch a nose at the front | 0:10:40 | 0:10:45
to make a snout. There we go. | 0:10:45 | 0:10:48
Then get the pom-pom and squidge it on the front as well. | 0:10:48 | 0:10:52
Then add two googly eyes and push those into the clay. | 0:10:52 | 0:10:56
One there and then one there. | 0:10:56 | 0:11:00
Now we get our pieces of dried spaghetti. | 0:11:00 | 0:11:03
These are going to make the spikes. | 0:11:03 | 0:11:06
Just stick them in everywhere around our little hedgehog. | 0:11:06 | 0:11:11
It's a bit fiddly this. | 0:11:11 | 0:11:13
But it's lots of fun. | 0:11:13 | 0:11:15
And you can take more time over this at home. | 0:11:15 | 0:11:19
I've got to be quick. | 0:11:19 | 0:11:21
Another bit there. Whoo-hoo! | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
And another bit round there. | 0:11:24 | 0:11:26
One round the front. There we go. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:29
And another round the front. | 0:11:29 | 0:11:32
I hope I'm going to do this. We need a few more spikes. | 0:11:32 | 0:11:36
One more in there should be enough. | 0:11:36 | 0:11:39
And we have a pasta creature. | 0:11:39 | 0:11:42
ALL: Yes! | 0:11:42 | 0:11:44
Yeah! > | 0:11:44 | 0:11:45
Yeah, that did deserve a big cheer. | 0:11:45 | 0:11:48
It was fiddly, but if you've got more than a minute, | 0:11:48 | 0:11:52
you could paint yours like this one here. | 0:11:52 | 0:11:55
And if you have even more time, you could make a different creature | 0:11:55 | 0:12:00
using different pasta. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:02
How about this macaroni monster painted orange? | 0:12:02 | 0:12:06
Or what about a spotty octopus with a pasta bow tie? | 0:12:06 | 0:12:11
Or you could even make a longer creature like a crocodile | 0:12:11 | 0:12:15
with bumpy pasta shapes. | 0:12:15 | 0:12:18
Mr Crocodile, we made it in a minute. | 0:12:18 | 0:12:21
Nice and snappy, Mister Maker, yeah. | 0:12:21 | 0:12:24
Pasta creatures, why don't you try and make one? | 0:12:24 | 0:12:28
Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:12:28 | 0:12:31
Let's go back to the beginning. | 0:12:31 | 0:12:33
Pinch a point into a ball of air-drying clay. | 0:12:33 | 0:12:36
Add a pom-pom nose and two googly eyes. | 0:12:36 | 0:12:39
Push in some pieces of dried spaghetti for the spikes. | 0:12:39 | 0:12:44
And your pasta creature is finished. | 0:12:44 | 0:12:47
Why don't you try and make one in a minute? | 0:12:47 | 0:12:51
-I've got to go, bye! -ALL: Bye! | 0:12:51 | 0:12:55
Now, where to next? | 0:13:00 | 0:13:01
Hello, Mister Maker. | 0:13:01 | 0:13:04
Oh, nice to see you. | 0:13:04 | 0:13:06
What do you think we're making today? | 0:13:06 | 0:13:09
I'm not sure, let's take a look. | 0:13:09 | 0:13:12
I am orange. | 0:13:14 | 0:13:16
I'm light blue. | 0:13:26 | 0:13:27
I'm yellow. | 0:13:29 | 0:13:30
I am purple. | 0:13:41 | 0:13:43
I am red. | 0:13:44 | 0:13:46
I am dark blue. | 0:13:48 | 0:13:50
I am green. | 0:13:58 | 0:14:01
It's an alarm clock. | 0:14:04 | 0:14:07
Well done, everybody, see you next time. | 0:14:07 | 0:14:10
Now watch this. | 0:14:10 | 0:14:11
Hello, are you ready... | 0:14:11 | 0:14:15
for a big surprise?! | 0:14:15 | 0:14:17
These Mini Makers have no idea I'm coming to help them make something. | 0:14:20 | 0:14:25
Hello! It's great to meet you. | 0:14:25 | 0:14:29
Does anyone know my name? What is it? | 0:14:29 | 0:14:32
-ALL: Mister Maker! -That's right. Are you OK? -Yes! | 0:14:32 | 0:14:37
Well, it's great to meet you. | 0:14:37 | 0:14:39
I've got a challenge for you. | 0:14:39 | 0:14:42
Oh, look at me, I'm Farmer Maker and I've got a farmer's hat, | 0:14:42 | 0:14:49
my farmer's boots, | 0:14:49 | 0:14:51
but something's missing. | 0:14:51 | 0:14:53
My tractor! Will you help me build one? | 0:14:53 | 0:14:56
Yes! | 0:14:56 | 0:14:58 | |
All right then, Fatima, Hibo, Mubarak, Amin and Noor, | 0:14:58 | 0:15:01
let's make it. | 0:15:01 | 0:15:03
We're going to make a big tractor. What should our tractor look like? | 0:15:03 | 0:15:08
-Big. -Big. What colour shall we paint it? | 0:15:08 | 0:15:11
-Red. -Red. Good idea. | 0:15:11 | 0:15:15
Green! | 0:15:15 | 0:15:16
Ha-ha! A green tractor. | 0:15:16 | 0:15:18
-What colour have forgotten on the table? -Blue. | 0:15:18 | 0:15:22
-Blue! Shall we paint our tractor blue? -Yes! | 0:15:22 | 0:15:25
-I think we're ready to make a big tractor, aren't we? -Yes. | 0:15:25 | 0:15:31
Let's make it. | 0:15:31 | 0:15:33
Great painting, everyone. | 0:15:40 | 0:15:43
Amin, what are you painting over there? | 0:15:43 | 0:15:46
-Painting the hay. -The hay, the hay is yellow. | 0:15:46 | 0:15:50
Noor, what are you painting red? | 0:15:50 | 0:15:52
-The trailer. -The trailer! Fantastic! | 0:15:52 | 0:15:56
-And of course, the tractor is... -ALL: Blue! | 0:15:56 | 0:15:59
We're having great fun making our big tractor. | 0:16:04 | 0:16:08
Why don't you try making a smaller one at home? | 0:16:08 | 0:16:11
Try making a terrific tractor and trailer! | 0:16:13 | 0:16:16
Make it, play with it, have fun with it! | 0:16:16 | 0:16:20
To make one, you will need small boxes, a glue stick, a pencil, | 0:16:20 | 0:16:24
a clean, empty tub, paints and brushes, | 0:16:24 | 0:16:27
scraps of paper, some stickers, and lots of lids. | 0:16:27 | 0:16:30
First, glue your boxes together, like this. | 0:16:32 | 0:16:37
then push in a pencil to make an exhaust pipe. | 0:16:37 | 0:16:41
Now take an empty tub for the trailer, | 0:16:44 | 0:16:47
Paint this and the tractor with a mixture | 0:16:47 | 0:16:50
of half paint and half gloopy glue, which helps it to stick. | 0:16:50 | 0:16:54
Next, collect some lids | 0:16:56 | 0:16:58
and glue them on both sides of the tractor and trailer for wheels. | 0:16:58 | 0:17:03
To make the windows, stick on some square stickers. | 0:17:07 | 0:17:11
Don't worry if you don't have stickers - | 0:17:11 | 0:17:14
you can glue on pieces of paper. | 0:17:14 | 0:17:17
Take the rest of your lids and stick them down to make extra details | 0:17:17 | 0:17:22
like the middle of the wheels, or headlights. | 0:17:22 | 0:17:25
You can add more details using card. | 0:17:25 | 0:17:28
Tape the trailer to the back of the tractor with sticky tape, | 0:17:32 | 0:17:37
and your terrific tractor is finished and ready to play with. | 0:17:37 | 0:17:42
What a fun idea! | 0:17:44 | 0:17:46
Why don't you give it a go? | 0:17:46 | 0:17:48
-What are you up to, Mini Makers? -ALL: We're making the fields. | 0:17:48 | 0:17:52
The fields! Great, let me help! | 0:17:52 | 0:17:54
That's it, lay them all out. | 0:17:54 | 0:17:57
We've got to put the smoke in the right place. Where? | 0:18:05 | 0:18:09
There! | 0:18:09 | 0:18:10
Oh, brilliant. | 0:18:12 | 0:18:13
-There we go. Well done, everyone. -ALL: WE made it! Yeah! | 0:18:13 | 0:18:20
