0:00:340:00:37

Hello, nice to see you. I'm out and about in my marvellous Makermobile.

0:00:480:00:53

The great thing about my Makermobile is that it can go anywhere.

0:00:530:00:57

Hey! Tocky here.

0:00:570:00:59

Mini Maker message.

0:00:590:01:01

-Hello, I'm Kate.

-Hello, Kate.

-Can I help you today?

0:01:010:01:06

Yes, please, Mister Maker.

0:01:060:01:08

I'll be there very soon.

0:01:080:01:10

HORN HONKS

0:01:160:01:18

Here I am!

0:01:260:01:27

Hello, Kate. Well, how can I help you today, then?

0:01:320:01:36

What can we do with these old lids?

0:01:360:01:38

That is a good question. There are lots of lovely lids in here.

0:01:380:01:44

But what could we do with them? Let's have a think. Hmm.

0:01:440:01:51

We could build a lid tower.

0:01:510:01:54

But make sure you build it somewhere flat.

0:01:540:01:57

Or we could make a lid hat.

0:01:570:02:01

But it might be a bit tricky to keep on your head.

0:02:010:02:05

Or you could even make some lid trousers.

0:02:050:02:08

But they're quite noisy and not very comfy.

0:02:080:02:12

Hmm, sorry about that, Kate. I think I got a bit carried away there.

0:02:120:02:16

But don't worry. These lids have given me a great idea.

0:02:160:02:21

Let's try something.

0:02:230:02:25

Use up your leftover lids to make a lovely lid picture.

0:02:250:02:30

-Let's make it!

-Let's make it!

0:02:300:02:32

But first, Kate, we'll need somewhere to make it.

0:02:320:02:35

Ooh. Ha, ha! And we'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:02:380:02:43

A large sheet of card.

0:02:500:02:52

A paper plate. Now, where would that be?

0:02:550:02:59

Scraps will know!

0:02:590:03:01

HORN HONKS

0:03:010:03:03

SCRAPS MUMBLES

0:03:030:03:04

Oh, Scraps! That cake looks delicious, thank you.

0:03:040:03:08

I'll save that for my tea later.

0:03:080:03:10

But for now, this paper plate is just what we need.

0:03:100:03:15

SCRAPS MUMBLES

0:03:150:03:17

Thanks, Scraps!

0:03:170:03:19

And we'll also need some gloopy PVA glue.

0:03:240:03:27

Kate, we're going to use these old lids to make a lovely picture,

0:03:310:03:36

a little bit like this one here. Fantastic.

0:03:360:03:40

-So are you ready?

-Yes.

-Great!

0:03:400:03:43

Are you ready? Brilliant. Let's get making.

0:03:430:03:46

I can't wait to see how this will turn out

0:03:460:03:49

because different lids make different pictures.

0:03:490:03:52

The first thing we need to do is get our background card.

0:03:520:03:56

You can choose whatever colour you like for this.

0:03:560:03:59

I think gold will look nice.

0:03:590:04:02

There we go. Kate, you can help me, as we need to get our glue ready.

0:04:020:04:07

So here's a paper plate. You take this gloopy glue

0:04:070:04:11

and give it a good squeeze in the middle there, please.

0:04:110:04:14

Keep going, bit more. Well done. That's brilliant.

0:04:140:04:19

Thank you, Kate. Now for the fun part.

0:04:190:04:22

Can you choose me a lid, please? Which one are you going for?

0:04:220:04:27

Ah, that one! Excellent choice. Dip it into the glue.

0:04:270:04:31

That's perfect. Well done. And then I'm going to put it onto the card.

0:04:310:04:35

Brilliant! Let's choose another one.

0:04:360:04:39

What do you think, then, Kate? Ah, yes, the big yellow one.

0:04:390:04:43

Dip that in as well. That's great.

0:04:430:04:45

Right, I'll take that from you now. And we'll stick it on the card.

0:04:450:04:50

Fantastic. Let's choose one more.

0:04:500:04:52

What do you think? Ah, yes, the blue one. Another excellent choice.

0:04:520:04:57

Dip it in the glue.

0:04:570:05:00

That's it. Well done.

0:05:000:05:03

That IS gloopy. I can stick it down.

0:05:030:05:06

Brilliant.

0:05:080:05:09

Now, keep going until you're happy with your lid picture.

0:05:090:05:13

Don't forget you can build your picture up

0:05:130:05:16

by sticking some lids on top of each other like this.

0:05:160:05:20

And when glue is dry, you can hang up or stand up your picture

0:05:250:05:29

wherever you like.

0:05:290:05:32

Lid pictures are easy to make and they look great.

0:05:320:05:35

Here are some other ideas you could try.

0:05:350:05:37

This one has got lots of colourful lids arranged in a rectangle.

0:05:370:05:42

Or what about this brilliant orange flower pattern?

0:05:430:05:47

It's made from different sized lids that are all the same colour.

0:05:470:05:51

-What do you think of our lid picture, Kate?

-It's good.

0:05:510:05:54

We made it. And now your home is where the art is.

0:05:540:05:58

High five!

0:05:580:05:59

What a fantastic lid picture. Well done, Kate.

0:05:590:06:04

Goodbye!

0:06:040:06:06

It's brilliant being out and about in the Makermobile.

0:06:060:06:09

There's always so much to see and do.

0:06:090:06:12

-And...

-GIGGLING AND CHATTERING

0:06:120:06:15

What's that noise?

0:06:150:06:17

Who could it be?

0:06:180:06:22

# I am a shape

0:06:260:06:28

# I am a shape

0:06:320:06:33

# I am a circle

0:06:360:06:38

# I am a triangle

0:06:410:06:43

# I am a square

0:06:460:06:48

# I am a rectangle

0:06:510:06:53

# I am a shape

0:07:000:07:02

# I am a shape

0:07:050:07:06

# I am a shape

0:07:100:07:11

# I am a shape

0:07:150:07:16

# I am a square. #

0:07:230:07:25

What's hiding in the squares?

0:07:280:07:30

Can you guess?

0:07:330:07:36

Any ideas yet?

0:07:360:07:39

What could it be?

0:07:390:07:43

It's a castle!

0:07:480:07:51

Well done, Shapes.

0:07:510:07:53

It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers.

0:07:530:07:56

Hee, hee, hee!

0:07:590:08:02

Oh, it's such a brilliant day for a lovely drive in the Makermobile.

0:08:050:08:10

-Ooh!

-Minute-make time.

0:08:100:08:12

Hey! It's minute-make time. I'm on my way.

0:08:120:08:15

I've arrived.

0:08:270:08:29

Whoa! It's minute-make time, everyone.

0:08:360:08:39

Yay!

0:08:390:08:41

That's right. And today we're going to make something...

0:08:410:08:44

BIRDS TWEET

0:08:440:08:46

Oh, it's the lovely sound of birdsong.

0:08:460:08:50

I wonder where that's coming from.

0:08:500:08:52

Oh, of course! From my cake case creature.

0:08:520:08:56

Oh, fantastic.

0:08:560:08:58

Now, to make one of these, you will need

0:08:580:09:01

some sticky tape,

0:09:010:09:04

a glue stick, a triangle of coloured paper,

0:09:040:09:07

a straw, a paper cake case,

0:09:070:09:11

some scissors and we'll also need some googly eyes.

0:09:110:09:15

You can find them in an arts and crafts shop. I'll be back soon!

0:09:150:09:19

TICKING

0:09:200:09:24

Phew! I've got them.

0:09:250:09:28

Right, here are our googly eyes.

0:09:280:09:32

Now, do you think it's possible

0:09:340:09:36

to make this cake case creature in just one minute?

0:09:360:09:40

ALL: No way!

0:09:400:09:42

Oh! Well, I think I can. I'll have to be very quick.

0:09:420:09:46

But don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:09:460:09:50

ALL: Yes!

0:09:500:09:52

Are you ready?

0:09:520:09:53

Great. Let's make it in a minute!

0:09:530:09:56

ALL: Three! Two! One!

0:09:560:09:59

Start the clock!

0:09:590:10:00

Let's grab our paper cake case and carefully make

0:10:000:10:04

four snips with our scissors.

0:10:040:10:06

-Be careful using scissors because they are...

-ALL: Sharp!!

0:10:060:10:10

That's right. These flaps will help us

0:10:100:10:13

make the shape of our bird. It's taking shape already.

0:10:130:10:17

We need to make some more snips

0:10:170:10:19

to make the head of the bird.

0:10:190:10:21

Let's go across there, like that.

0:10:210:10:24

Here we go. And across there, like that.

0:10:240:10:27

There we are.

0:10:270:10:29

Now, let's get some glue and glue on our eyes.

0:10:290:10:32

There we go.

0:10:320:10:34

Let's stick on one googly eye there,

0:10:340:10:37

and another googly eye on there.

0:10:370:10:41

There we go. Now, our bird needs a beak,

0:10:410:10:43

so let's glue on that as well.

0:10:430:10:46

There we go. Now, we need to get some sticky tape

0:10:490:10:53

on our straw, like this.

0:10:530:10:55

We've just about got enough time to make our cake case creature!

0:10:550:11:00

CHEERING

0:11:000:11:02

And if you've got more than a minute,

0:11:020:11:05

you can make all sorts of cake case creatures.

0:11:050:11:09

What about a bird made with a silver cake case?

0:11:090:11:13

Or this bee, made with a yellow cake case and a stripy paper body?

0:11:130:11:18

You could even make a turtle, using a green cake case

0:11:180:11:22

and orange paper.

0:11:220:11:23

Cake case creatures, made in a minute!

0:11:230:11:26

Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:11:260:11:30

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:11:300:11:34

Make four cuts into a cake case, like this.

0:11:340:11:37

Then cut out a head shape from one of the flaps.

0:11:370:11:41

Stick on googly eyes.

0:11:410:11:43

And a paper beak.

0:11:430:11:45

Tape the cake case onto a straw and your cake case creature is finished!

0:11:450:11:49

Why don't you try and make a cake case creature in just a minute?

0:11:520:11:56

Must dash, everyone. Goodbye!

0:11:560:11:58

ALL: Bye!

0:11:580:12:00

Oh, I love driving the Makermobile.

0:12:050:12:08

Where shall we go to next? Ha-ha! Ooh!

0:12:080:12:11

ALL: Hello, Mister Maker!

0:12:110:12:14

Nice to see you.

0:12:140:12:15

Can you guess what we're making today?

0:12:150:12:18

What are they going to make?

0:12:180:12:20

I'm dark blue.

0:12:240:12:25

I'm yellow.

0:12:340:12:35

I am red.

0:12:390:12:41

I am green.

0:12:450:12:47

I am grey.

0:12:500:12:52

ALL: It's a trainer!

0:13:100:13:11

Well done, everyone. See you soon! Now, watch this.

0:13:110:13:15

Hello. Are you ready...

0:13:150:13:19

for a big surprise?

0:13:190:13:21

These Mini Makers have no idea what their surprise will be,

0:13:230:13:27

or what we're going to make.

0:13:270:13:29

-Hello!

-Hi, Mister Maker.

0:13:290:13:31

Hello, Mister Maker.

0:13:310:13:33

Hello! Oh, it's great to meet you. Now, do you like going to the beach?

0:13:340:13:38

ALL: Yes!

0:13:380:13:40

Brilliant, so do I!

0:13:400:13:42

Ahh!

0:13:550:13:57

Ooh! Hang on, wait!

0:13:570:14:00

Do you know, I've just had a big idea!

0:14:010:14:04

I think we should make the seaside come to us. So...

0:14:040:14:08

-will you help me?

-ALL: Yes!

0:14:080:14:10

Fantastic! All right, then,

0:14:100:14:12

Daniel, Dominic, Thomas, Sangita and Amy, let's make it!

0:14:120:14:16

Right, everyone, we're going to make the seaside come to us.

0:14:160:14:20

So what do you think we should make?

0:14:200:14:23

-The sea.

-The sea? That's a good idea.

0:14:230:14:26

-The sea is what colour?

-Blue.

-Blue, brilliant.

0:14:260:14:30

-And what colour's the sand?

-Yellow!

-So we've got blue

0:14:300:14:34

and yellow at our seaside. What other things do you see

0:14:340:14:37

-at the seaside?

-Crabs.

-What colour would the crab be?

-Orange.

0:14:370:14:42

That's right! You know what? I think we're ready

0:14:420:14:45

-to make our seaside. Don't you?

-ALL: Yes!

0:14:450:14:48

All right, let's jump up and make it!

0:14:480:14:51

Let's go this way, come on!

0:14:510:14:53

I'm painting this sandcastle.

0:14:540:14:56

OK, everyone, it's time to paint our beach hut.

0:15:030:15:06

-It's super wet!

-It is, isn't it?

0:15:080:15:10

-We're making the door here, aren't we?

-Yes.

0:15:120:15:15

A nice big red door.

0:15:150:15:16

-How are we getting with our roof?

-We've nearly finished it.

0:15:190:15:24

I've made a curtain.

0:15:250:15:27

And let's not forget a rubber ring!

0:15:350:15:38

And we'll need some waves.

0:15:440:15:46

No, not those sorts of waves!

0:15:460:15:49

We need some waves for our sea. So let's use blue chalk for that.

0:15:490:15:54

-I think this is looking rather good, don't you, Sangita?

-Yes.

0:16:010:16:05

We're having great fun making our big beach.

0:16:050:16:08

Why don't you try making your own little bit of the seaside at home?

0:16:080:16:14

Try making this brilliant mini beach hut.

0:16:140:16:17

Make it, play with it, have fun with it!

0:16:170:16:19

To make one, you will need

0:16:190:16:22

boxes with sliding drawers, a glue stick, cardboard,

0:16:220:16:26

a ruler, a pen, scissors, paints and a paintbrush.

0:16:260:16:32

First, glue all of your boxes together,

0:16:330:16:36

but make sure the drawers are facing the same way, like this.

0:16:360:16:41

Next, take the cardboard and draw a triangle shaped roof,

0:16:460:16:52

a square for a window, a rectangle for a door

0:16:520:16:56

and a circle for a rubber ring.

0:16:560:16:59

And carefully cut them out.

0:16:590:17:01

Then, glue these shapes to the side

0:17:010:17:04

of the box that doesn't have the drawers on.

0:17:040:17:08

When it's all dry, you can paint the beach hut bright seaside colours.

0:17:130:17:18

What a lovely-looking beach hut!

0:17:210:17:24

And you can keep anything inside the drawers.

0:17:240:17:27

Pencils, crayons, or even seashells.

0:17:270:17:30

It's very useful!

0:17:300:17:33

What a wonderful way to make a mini beach hut.

0:17:360:17:39

Talking of which, I wonder how our seaside's coming along.

0:17:390:17:43

And now for the sand.

0:17:430:17:45

And the sea.

0:17:510:17:52

And a lovely blue sky.

0:17:550:17:58

One more thing. Well done, everyone! We made it! Yay!

0:18:000:18:06

Hee-hee-hee!

0:18:070:18:10

SEAGULL CALLING

0:18:110:18:12

Oh, I do love to be beside the seaside.

0:18:120:18:15

The smell of the sea, the sound of the waves.

0:18:150:18:19

Mister Maker, time to go!

0:18:200:18:23

That's it for now. My making time's over, but yours is just beginning.

0:18:230:18:29

It's time to put the Makermobile back in its box.
