Let's try something!

Try making this fantastic pirate face mask

and put yourself in the picture.

Let's make it! But first, we need somewhere to make it.

Ha-ha! And we'll also need some things

from the Doodle Drawers! I'll be back soon!

A plate, a pencil and a ball of modelling clay!

A large piece of card, some torn strips of paper and a glue stick!

We also need an oval-shaped lid from an ice-cream tub.

Perhaps Scraps can help!

Hello! We need an ice-cream lid. Can you help?

-Mm-hm!

-Great!

-Well done, Scraps, that's great! Just what we need!

-Mm-hm!

-Ooh, actually, Scraps, is there any ice cream left?

-No! Burp!

Well, excuse you! Oh!

And we also need some patterned wrapping paper.

So, Lily, today, we're going to make

a pirate face mask that really puts you in the picture!

Ahoy there, me hearties! Ah-ha-ha-ha!

-Right! So, Lily, are you ready?

-Yes!

-Great!

Are you ready?

Brilliant! Let's get making!

The first thing we're going to do is bring in our large piece of card

and an oval-shaped ice-cream lid.

Now, don't worry if you haven't got one of these lids.

You can use something else that's oval-shaped, like a plate or a bowl.

Next, we need to draw round it then cut this shape out.

You may want to ask an adult to help with this, cos it's a bit tricky.

We need a ball of modelling clay. We'll put this underneath the card.

And we need a sharp pencil and we're going to push,

with the sharp pencil, through the card into the clay.

And we do this very carefully

and then, if we take the pencil out and take the clay away,

we have a hole. We can use this hole to help us cut out our face shape!

-But we need to be careful, because scissors are...

-Sharp!

Move the card to one side for a moment

and we're going to bring in some patterned wrapping paper.

This is going to make the pirate's head scarf! Ha-ha! That looks good!

We're going to turn this over and, with a paper plate,

we're going to draw all round this with a pencil to make a circle.

Now, at the side of this circle,

draw a fish tail shape and then, carefully, cut it all out.

Then turn it back over,

cut across the circle shape,

just below the fish tail here, to make

a pirate head scarf and shoulders.

Now, we'll put these to one side and bring back our card from earlier.

Let's get a handful of torn paper strips.

Here they are! We're going to scrunch these up!

That's it! Do a bit of scrunching, like that.

Give them a squeeze, like that. Can you help? Scrunch away!

Good scrunching!

That's it. Put it on the pile.

Well done!

Now we need to stick the pirate hair on both sides of the face hole!

So you can help me with this, Lily!

Can you put some glue about there for me, please?

That's it! Well done! Then glue on the rest of the hair!

Now we can bring back in our pirate's head scarf and shoulders!

I'm going to give these to you to glue for me! Thank you very much!

That's it. Perfect! And now, we can glue them in place!

And we're all done! It looks fantastic!

But I think there's something, or rather someone,

missing in the middle here!

-Who could that be?

-Me.

Minute-make time!

Hey, it's minute-make time! I'm on my way!

I've arrived!

It's minute-make time!

ALL: YAY!

And here's what we're going to make today - a jazzy jar!

It's beautiful! Now, to make one of these you will need...

an old pot or jar with a lid like this one here, some coloured beads,

some gloopy PVA glue, an old washing-up sponge,

and it's also a good idea to do this with an old tray underneath,

as it can get a little bit messy.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this jazzy jar

in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

I think I can. I'm going to have to be very quick, but don't worry.

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

ALL: YEAH!

Are you ready?

Great! Let's make it in a minute!

Three, two, one...

Start the clock!

First get our sponge and put on some gloopy glue

round the side of our jar.

Put it all the way around the side but not on this top edge,

because that's where the lid goes.

Now start putting on our beads.

We sprinkle them on top,

you can use whatever colour beads you like.

Don't worry if they fall over the tray like this,

cos we can use them later.

Let's put some green on.

Here we go around with the green.

Then some blue as well.

Whoa, sprinkly! Here we go!

Like that, there we go. Put that there.

Now I need to cover our lid with glue as well.

All round there, and some round the side.

That's it. And then sprinkle a few more on to the lid.

Some blue, and a few of those.

If I put that on top of there, we've got a jazzy jar!

If you've got more than a minute you can make all sorts of jazzy jars.

You could try this stripy multicoloured jar.

Or why not add some bigger beads to make a flowery pattern.

Jazzy jars, made in a minute!

Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Cover a plastic jar with gloopy glue, pour the beads onto the glue,

and stick more glue and beads to the lid.

Then leave it to dry and your jazzy jar is finished.

We could put them on our market stall. What else?

-Green apples, cos there's green paint.

-That's a brilliant idea!

-OK, I think we're ready to make our market stall, aren't we?

These are going to be nice stripes.

We're going to paint this ball orange. Let's get painting.

Hello, do you need some help?

Great, you're doing a good job. Very nice.

We're making cauliflower.

It's great fun making our big market stall.

How about making something small to sell at a market?

Try making this brightly coloured pineapple.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it!

To make one you'll need some foil, an old mug, gloopy PVA glue,

paint brushes and paint, coloured tissue paper,

a pencil and a black pen.

Start by scrunching up the foil into a big egg-shape.

Next, put your foil egg into a cup

and then cover it with a layer of glue.

Stick on pieces of tissue paper.

And leave it to dry.

Cut up big tissue paper strips.

And arrange them like this.

Push the tissue strips into the pineapple with a pencil.

Now paint on some shapes.

These look like the letter V.

You can even add some detail with a black pen,

and your pretend pineapple is finished.

Why not make some other fruit,

like an apple, an orange, or even a strawberry.

Pretend fruit is great to play with.

You can even put it on your own market stall.

What a fun way to make fruit! And they're really tasty.
