Hello, Danny. So, how can I help you today?

Will you show me how to make something really colourful.

Something really colourful. That sounds a bit like -

A rainbow.

But do you know what? I think we need more colours than that.

I've just had a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making a colourful super stripey picture.

It's super and stripey!

BOTH: Let's make it!

But first we'll need somewhere to make it.

Ooh! Ha-ha!

And we'll need things from the Doodle Drawers.

Wait here, I'll be back soon.

A big piece of plain paper.

Now, we also need some old scraps of coloured paper.

When looking for scraps, who better to find them than Scraps.

HORN

-Eh?

-Ah, Scraps, there you are.

Now, we need some scraps of coloured paper.

-Can you help us?

-Mm-hm.

-Brilliant!

Now, this may take Scraps quite a while.

He's got to search through all the Doodle Drawers to find...

Well, that was quick!

Well, you are the scraps expert I suppose.

-Mmmm-hm!

And we also need a glue stick.

Right Danny, let's have some fun and make a super stripey picture

like this one here.

It looks fantastic!

-Are you ready?

-Yes.

-Good!

Are you ready? Great!

Let's get making.

We're going to bring in our sheets and scraps of coloured paper

and we'll cut them into long strips.

You can cut them straight from the paper

or you can draw a straight line using a ruler and pencil

and cut along that.

So, we're going to get cutting then, Danny,

-but we need to be careful because scissors are...

-Sharp!

He's done this before.

You cut that one out, Danny and I'll make some other strips.

Carefully cut thick and thin strips out of lots of different colours.

Now we can start sticking our strips down.

Let's find a strip, this one looks good,

and put on some glue.

Here we go. I'll do the first one.

We're going to keep all of our strips lying flat

in the same way and we'll start at the top

and work our way all the way down to the bottom.

You can have a go, Danny. This one looks good.

Can you put plenty of glue on it. Away we go.

Perfect. Thank you, Danny. Let's stick this on.

It's a good idea if you lay some of your strips on top of each other.

It looks really good and don't worry if you go over the edges,

just make sure you keep going until your page

is completely covered in stripes!

So, we're nearly finished, Danny.

As you can see some of the strips have gone over the paper's edges.

What we need to do is very carefully trim these off

using some scissors. Just like this.

And there we have it.

A super stripey picture that's really colourful!

The best thing about stripey pictures

is you can make them in all sorts of different ways.

How about this one made with light colours?

Or this one made from strips of old wrapping paper.

Or you could stick your strips the other way around.

Here's what we're going to make today. A peg animal.

Look. It's my pet peg dog.

To make one of these you will need -

A glue stick, a pipe cleaner, three pegs, some fun fur

a mini pompom, and we'll also need some googly eyes.

You can find those in an art and craft shop.

TICK TOCK

Whoa! I've got them.

Here are our googly eyes.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this peg animal

in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

I think I can. I'm going to have to be very quick though.

Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-ALL: Yes!

Are you ready? Great, let's make it in a minute.

ALL: Three, two, one.

Start the clock!

I'm going to get the pipe cleaner, bend it in half

and then give it a twist, round and round.

Let's bring in our pegs.

Put one on that end. That's the head.

The opposite direction, we'll put on the legs.

There's one there and one there too.

Let's bend the tail, there we go.

Let's get some glue and put on our pompom.

This is going to be the nose.

Let's glue that on.

Now, let's put on googly eyes.

Right, that eye's on.

Let's try this eye.

There we go, let's glue that eye on.

That one there, there we go.

If we get some of this fun fur.

We can put some glue along there

and glue this on the side.

Here's my peg animal! I did it!

Just in time!

If you've got more than a minute you can make all sorts of peg animals.

What about this woolly sheep made with cotton wool for its coat?

Or this.

It's a pink rabbit with pink cotton wool and sticking out feet.

Or you can make a tropical peg parrot

with multicoloured feathers and a peg for its beak.

Why don't you have a go. Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Take a pipe cleaner, bend it in half and give it a twist.

Clip on pegs for legs and a head like this.

Stick on a pompom nose and googly eyes.

Glue fun fur on the body.

And your peg animal is finished.

Me too, but I can't decide where to go this year.

Oh! Thank you.

Ah! Wow!

This map shows the perfect place to go on holiday.

It's just given me a big idea.

I think we should make a big, tropical holiday island.

-Will you help me?

-ALL: Yes!

Fantastic.

Morgan, Hope, Caspian, Amber and Ben, let's make it!

We're going to make a tropical island, aren't we?

Yes.

What should it look like?

Erm... A palm tree and some golden sand.

Golden sand and a palm tree too.

Shall we paint our palm tree?

-Shall we paint it? What colours?

-Brown.

-Green.

Fantastic! They'll be great colours. What can go on our palm tree?

-Coconuts.

-Coconuts. That's right.

-What can we make our coconuts out of?

-Brown...

-Brown card.

That's such a good idea, isn't it.

-We can paint it brown.

That'll be great. I think we're ready to make our island.

-ALL: Yes!

Let's make it.

We're painting palm trees.

-Can you help me paint my shell?

-Of course I can.

This is your shell, is it? It's quite big.

Look at that.

Imagine the snail that lived inside that shell!

-What are you painting, Morgan?

-Coconuts.

Coconuts. I like coconuts.

We're having great fun making our big island in the sun.

Why don't you try making your own little one.

Try making a mini tropical island with its own palm tree.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it.

To make one you will need pipe cleaners, a pencil,

a paper plate, modelling clay, gloopy glue,

play sand, tissue paper, coloured card, a pompom

and a small toy.

Take three pipe cleaners and wrap them around the top of a pencil.

Then bend them so they look like palm tree leaves.

Next, turn a paper plate upside-down.

Put a ball of modelling clay under your plate

and push your palm tree into it like this.

Now cover the top of your plate in a layer of gloopy glue.

Sprinkle on some play sand.

Next, take some pieces of coloured tissue paper

and stick them around the edge

so it looks like waves around your tropical beach.

Then take a piece of coloured card and fold it slightly

to make a deck chair.

Now glue it down.

To finish off your tropical island why not add a plastic toy?

Or even some pompom coconuts.

Your tiny tropical island is finished and ready to play with.

What a great way to make a mini island.

But I wonder how our big island's coming along?

Hello, I'm a cloud. Can you make me fluffy please?

That's it.
