# Mr Maker comes to town! # | 0:00:41 | 0:00:43
Hello! Lovely to see you. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
I'm out in the Makermobile. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
I wonder what we'll see today. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
Tocky here! | 0:00:54 | 0:00:56
Mini Maker message! | 0:00:56 | 0:00:58
Hello, I'm Malachi. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
Hello, Malachi. Can I help you today? | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
Yes, please, Mr Maker. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:04
I'll be right with you! | 0:01:04 | 0:01:06
This must be the place. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
-Hello, Malachi. -Hello. -Lovely to meet you. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:32
Now, how can I help you today? | 0:01:32 | 0:01:33
What can we make with this cardboard tube? | 0:01:33 | 0:01:36
That's a good question. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:38
What can we make with this cardboard tube? | 0:01:38 | 0:01:42
Hmm. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:43 | |
Maybe we could make some fancy cardboard jewellery. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:47
Ha-ha! | 0:01:47 | 0:01:48
Malachi, what do you think? | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
-Silly. -Silly? | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
Yeah, perhaps you're right. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:55
Doesn't really suit me, does it? | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
But all these colourful pieces from the cardboard tube | 0:01:57 | 0:02:01
have given me a great idea. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:03
Ho-ho! | 0:02:04 | 0:02:05
Let's try something. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
Try using a cardboard tube | 0:02:09 | 0:02:11
to make a colourful cardboard tube peacock. | 0:02:11 | 0:02:15
-BOTH: -Let's make it! | 0:02:15 | 0:02:17
But first, we'll need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:20
We need some things from the Doodle Drawers! | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
Hold this, please. I'll be back soon. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:30
Some glue and a pencil. | 0:02:35 | 0:02:36
Some stickers, a pen and some scissors. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
A sheet of coloured paper. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:49
What has Scraps done with all the tissue paper? Hmph! | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
HOOT! | 0:02:54 | 0:02:56 | |
Brr! Honk! | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
-Oh, Scraps, are those for me? -Uh-huh. | 0:02:58 | 0:03:01
Oh, how lovely. | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
Have you any tissue paper left? | 0:03:03 | 0:03:05
We need some for our picture. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
-Scraps! Scraps! -Hmm? | 0:03:07 | 0:03:08
Can you put these in a nice vase for me? Thank you. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:13
Oh, tissue paper. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:14
Thank you, Scraps. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:16
-Nyang! -Bye! | 0:03:16 | 0:03:17
And we also need a brush and a plate. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:24
OK, then, Malachi, let's make a cardboard tube peacock | 0:03:24 | 0:03:29
like this one here. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:31
Wow! Very colourful. | 0:03:31 | 0:03:33
-All right, then, Malachi. Are you ready? -Yes. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
Good. Are you ready? | 0:03:36 | 0:03:39
Fantastic! Let's get making. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
The first thing we're going to do | 0:03:41 | 0:03:43
is flatten our cardboard tube. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:45
You can help with this, Malachi. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:47
There we go. That's it, push it down. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
That's it. That's it, a bit more. | 0:03:51 | 0:03:53
Very good. Well done. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:55
And now, we need to very carefully | 0:03:55 | 0:03:58
cut this tube up into little pieces. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:00
But I need to be careful with scissors, because they are... | 0:04:00 | 0:04:04
Sharp! | 0:04:04 | 0:04:05
That's right. | 0:04:05 | 0:04:07
SCISSORS GROWL | 0:04:07 | 0:04:09
Here are all our pieces, Malachi. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:16
I'm going to leave them over here | 0:04:16 | 0:04:18
-for you to look after. Is that all right? -Yes. -Thank you. | 0:04:18 | 0:04:22
Because it's time to bring in our paper, | 0:04:22 | 0:04:26
and I'm going to take a plate | 0:04:26 | 0:04:28
and turn it upside-down | 0:04:28 | 0:04:30
and then draw around the top of it with a pencil. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:35
Now this should give us | 0:04:38 | 0:04:41
a curved shape. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:43
Then, squeeze gloopy glue all the way along the line. | 0:04:43 | 0:04:47
Ha-ha! | 0:04:47 | 0:04:48
And now, with a brush, | 0:04:48 | 0:04:50
we can spread the gloopy glue inside the curve shape. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:55
Next, we can stick the cardboard tube pieces | 0:05:00 | 0:05:03
into the glue all the way around the top edge. | 0:05:03 | 0:05:08
And put one cardboard piece in the middle | 0:05:10 | 0:05:12
for the peacock's body. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:15
Malachi, our peacock needs a beak. | 0:05:15 | 0:05:17
-Would you like to make one? -Yes. -Excellent. | 0:05:17 | 0:05:20
That's it, take one piece | 0:05:20 | 0:05:22
and very carefully cut it in half. | 0:05:22 | 0:05:25
Well done, I'll have that piece. Excellent. | 0:05:25 | 0:05:28
This is our beak. | 0:05:28 | 0:05:30
Now fill in all of the gaps | 0:05:31 | 0:05:33
with more cardboard tube pieces. | 0:05:33 | 0:05:37
Next, we'll colour in our peacock | 0:05:37 | 0:05:40
by scrunching up coloured tissue paper. | 0:05:40 | 0:05:43
Let's use blue for the peacock's body, | 0:05:43 | 0:05:46
yellow for the beak, | 0:05:46 | 0:05:48
and then green and purple for the feathers. | 0:05:48 | 0:05:52
All right, Malachi, let's get scrunching! | 0:05:52 | 0:05:55
Colour in the cardboard shapes | 0:05:56 | 0:05:59
with the scrunched-up tissue. | 0:05:59 | 0:06:02
Look, Malachi, we've got | 0:06:04 | 0:06:06
one cardboard piece left. | 0:06:06 | 0:06:09
So can you cut that in half for me? | 0:06:09 | 0:06:12
Thank you. | 0:06:12 | 0:06:14
And put some glue on one half for the legs. | 0:06:14 | 0:06:17
Excellent. | 0:06:17 | 0:06:18
And stick the other half on | 0:06:19 | 0:06:22
for feathers on the head. | 0:06:22 | 0:06:24
Now it's looking good, | 0:06:24 | 0:06:25
-but what's our peacock missing? -Eyes. | 0:06:25 | 0:06:28
Eyes, that's right! | 0:06:28 | 0:06:30
So let's draw dots | 0:06:30 | 0:06:32
in the middle of some stickers for eyes, | 0:06:32 | 0:06:35
and stick them on. | 0:06:35 | 0:06:37
There! We're all finished. | 0:06:38 | 0:06:41
It's a fantastic colourful cardboard tube peacock. | 0:06:41 | 0:06:45
You can make all kinds of pictures using cardboard tubes. | 0:06:45 | 0:06:50
How about making a black-and-white penguin with orange feet? | 0:06:50 | 0:06:54
Or you could even try a colourful parrot | 0:06:54 | 0:06:58
with red, blue and green feathers. | 0:06:58 | 0:07:01
Cardboard tube pictures! Why don't you try one today? | 0:07:01 | 0:07:05
So, Malachi, did you like what we made out of your cardboard tube? | 0:07:05 | 0:07:09
-Yes. -Brilliant. We made it! | 0:07:09 | 0:07:12
And now your home is where the art is. High-five! | 0:07:12 | 0:07:16
Ha-ha! | 0:07:16 | 0:07:17
What a perfect peacock picture. | 0:07:17 | 0:07:21
Well done, Malachi. Bye! | 0:07:21 | 0:07:23
Ah! Heh-heh, lovely. Hee-hee! | 0:07:24 | 0:07:27
It's brilliant being out and about in the Makermobile. | 0:07:27 | 0:07:30
There's always so much to see and do. | 0:07:30 | 0:07:33
-Hee-hee! -Heh-heh! -Hee-hee! | 0:07:33 | 0:07:34
BUMPS AND BANGS | 0:07:34 | 0:07:36
What's that noise? | 0:07:36 | 0:07:37
-Hee-hee! -Oh-ho! | 0:07:37 | 0:07:39
Guess who that is. | 0:07:39 | 0:07:41
-Whee! -Whoo! -Whoa! | 0:07:41 | 0:07:43
-Hey! -Whoa! -Hee-hee! | 0:07:43 | 0:07:46
# I am a shape! | 0:07:48 | 0:07:50
# La-la-la-la | 0:07:50 | 0:07:51
-# I am a shape! -La-la-la-la | 0:07:53 | 0:07:56
# I am a circle | 0:07:58 | 0:08:00
# I am a triangle | 0:08:03 | 0:08:05
# I am a square | 0:08:07 | 0:08:10
# I am a rectangle | 0:08:12 | 0:08:15
# I am a shape! | 0:08:22 | 0:08:24
# I am a shape! | 0:08:27 | 0:08:28
# I am a shape! | 0:08:31 | 0:08:34
# I am a shape! | 0:08:36 | 0:08:38
# I am a triangle. # | 0:08:45 | 0:08:47
What are the triangles making? | 0:08:49 | 0:08:52
Any ideas? | 0:09:01 | 0:09:03
It's a rocket! | 0:09:03 | 0:09:06
Well done, Shapes. | 0:09:06 | 0:09:08
It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers. | 0:09:08 | 0:09:12
Oh, this is a lovely day for a drive out in the Makermobile, isn't it? | 0:09:18 | 0:09:23
Squawk! Minute-make time! | 0:09:23 | 0:09:26
Hey, it's minute-make time. | 0:09:26 | 0:09:28
I'm on my way! | 0:09:28 | 0:09:31
We've arrived! | 0:09:42 | 0:09:45
It's minute-make time, everyone! | 0:09:48 | 0:09:51
ALL: Yeah! | 0:09:51 | 0:09:54
And today, we're going to make one of these. | 0:09:54 | 0:09:57
It's a pom-pom pine cone. | 0:09:57 | 0:10:00
It will look really nice hanging up as a decoration in your home. | 0:10:00 | 0:10:04
We can make one of these in just one minute by using these things. | 0:10:04 | 0:10:09
A piece of wool, some colourful pom-poms in a bowl, | 0:10:09 | 0:10:12
Some gloopy PVA glue, | 0:10:12 | 0:10:16
and we'll also need a pine cone. | 0:10:16 | 0:10:18
You can find one of those in an art and craft shop. | 0:10:18 | 0:10:21
I'll be back very soon! | 0:10:21 | 0:10:23
I've got it! | 0:10:27 | 0:10:29
Here is our lovely pine cone. | 0:10:29 | 0:10:32
Now, do you think it's possible to make this pom-pom pine cone | 0:10:32 | 0:10:37
in just one minute? | 0:10:37 | 0:10:40
-ALL: No way! -Well, let's find out. | 0:10:40 | 0:10:43
I'll have to be quick, but don't worry, | 0:10:43 | 0:10:46
I'll remind you how to do it at the end. | 0:10:46 | 0:10:49
-Are you ready? -ALL: Yes! | 0:10:49 | 0:10:51
Are you ready? | 0:10:51 | 0:10:53
Brilliant. Let's make it in a minute. | 0:10:53 | 0:10:56
ALL: Three, two, one, go! | 0:10:56 | 0:10:58
Start the clock! | 0:10:58 | 0:11:00
Let's get our pine cone and tie the wool | 0:11:00 | 0:11:04
around the top like this. | 0:11:04 | 0:11:06
Tie it in a knot. | 0:11:06 | 0:11:08
This is fiddly so ask an adult for help. | 0:11:08 | 0:11:13
There it is! | 0:11:13 | 0:11:15
Now we get out bowl of colourful pom-poms | 0:11:15 | 0:11:17
and our gloopy glue and squeeze it in the gaps | 0:11:17 | 0:11:21
of our pine cone. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
All the way round. It's a bit messy! | 0:11:24 | 0:11:28
Here we go! Brilliant. | 0:11:28 | 0:11:31
Now push in as many of the pom-poms as we can. | 0:11:31 | 0:11:37
This is a bit fiddly and messy but lots of fun! | 0:11:37 | 0:11:42
One in there and one in there. | 0:11:42 | 0:11:45
Your fingers get really sticky! | 0:11:45 | 0:11:48
Another in there... and one there. | 0:11:48 | 0:11:51
One last in there and we've made | 0:11:51 | 0:11:54
-a pom-pom pine cone! -ALL: Yay! | 0:11:54 | 0:11:58
When you've finished your pom-pom pine cone, it might be sticky, | 0:11:58 | 0:12:02
but don't worry because when the glue's dried, | 0:12:02 | 0:12:06
it'll look a little bit like this... | 0:12:06 | 0:12:09
And if you've got more than a minute, | 0:12:09 | 0:12:12
you can try all sorts of ideas. | 0:12:12 | 0:12:15
How about this orange one? With orange pom-poms. | 0:12:15 | 0:12:19
Or you could make glittery pine cones | 0:12:19 | 0:12:23
using glitter and glittery pom-poms. | 0:12:23 | 0:12:27
Or you could squirt on some extra paint for a colourful effect. | 0:12:27 | 0:12:31
Pom-pom pine cones made in just a minute. | 0:12:31 | 0:12:35
Why don't you try it? Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:12:35 | 0:12:38
Let's go back to the start and take a look. | 0:12:38 | 0:12:41
Tie a piece of wool to the end of a pine cone, | 0:12:41 | 0:12:44
squirt on some gloopy glue, stick pom-poms into all of the gaps | 0:12:44 | 0:12:51
and your pom-pom pine cone is finished! | 0:12:51 | 0:12:54
Why don't you try and make it in a minute? | 0:12:56 | 0:12:59
It's time for me to go, but thank you for being part | 0:12:59 | 0:13:02
-of another marvellous minute-make! Goodbye! -ALL: Bye! | 0:13:02 | 0:13:06
Oh, this is fun! Where shall we go to next? | 0:13:09 | 0:13:14
ALL: Hello, Mr Maker! | 0:13:14 | 0:13:17
Oh, hello! | 0:13:17 | 0:13:19
-Look what we're making today. -Let's take a look. | 0:13:19 | 0:13:23
I am grey. | 0:13:25 | 0:13:27
I am red. | 0:13:30 | 0:13:33
I'm yellow. | 0:13:33 | 0:13:36
I'm dark blue. | 0:13:36 | 0:13:38
I am orange. | 0:13:41 | 0:13:42
I'm light blue. | 0:13:46 | 0:13:48
I am black. | 0:13:50 | 0:13:52
I am purple. | 0:13:54 | 0:13:56
ALL: It's a camper van! | 0:14:05 | 0:14:07
Well done, everyone! See you soon. | 0:14:07 | 0:14:11
Guess what? It's time for... | 0:14:13 | 0:14:17
a big surprise. | 0:14:17 | 0:14:20
These Mini Makers are not expecting me. | 0:14:20 | 0:14:23
Hello! | 0:14:23 | 0:14:25
Mini Makers, I need your help. | 0:14:25 | 0:14:29
Hello! It's Farmer Maker here | 0:14:29 | 0:14:32
and all of my crops keep getting eaten by some very naughty crows. | 0:14:32 | 0:14:38
CROW CAWS | 0:14:38 | 0:14:41
So we need to build something to scare all of the crows away. | 0:14:41 | 0:14:46
Now, what could that be? | 0:14:46 | 0:14:48
ALL: Scarecrow! | 0:14:48 | 0:14:50
Of course! We should build a big scarecrow! | 0:14:50 | 0:14:53
OK, then, Mia, Page, Salim, Isaac and Tyra, let's make it! | 0:14:54 | 0:15:01
What does a scarecrow wear? | 0:15:01 | 0:15:03
-An old jacket. -An old jacket? What, like mine? | 0:15:03 | 0:15:07
-No. -No, this is very nice, this jacket, isn't it? | 0:15:07 | 0:15:11
Now, can you see anything on the table that we can make | 0:15:11 | 0:15:14
our scarecrow's head from? | 0:15:14 | 0:15:17
That's a good idea! Salim, if you put that there. That's great! | 0:15:17 | 0:15:22
-Do you think that will make a good scarecrow head? -Yes. | 0:15:22 | 0:15:26

And here's the sky. | 0:15:57 | 0:15:59
This big surprise has been great fun so far | 0:16:02 | 0:16:05
so why don't you join in and make your very own mini make? | 0:16:05 | 0:16:10
Keep the birds away from your art with a scarecrow | 0:16:10 | 0:16:13
that's fun to make. | 0:16:13 | 0:16:15
You will need some paint, some glue, brown paper | 0:16:15 | 0:16:20
and a small cardboard box, modelling clay, a clean yoghurt pot | 0:16:20 | 0:16:25
and string, some twigs, a ball and stickers, scissors, | 0:16:25 | 0:16:31
a pen and a pencil. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:33
First, carefully trim the flaps off one end of the cardboard box. | 0:16:33 | 0:16:37
Then push a ball of modelling clay into the end of it. | 0:16:39 | 0:16:43
Make a hole in the box by carefully pushing a pencil through | 0:16:43 | 0:16:47
the side into the modelling clay. | 0:16:47 | 0:16:50
Do this on both sides. | 0:16:50 | 0:16:53
Next, push a twig through both holes into modelling clay inside. | 0:16:53 | 0:16:59
Then push another twig into the bottom of the box like this. | 0:17:01 | 0:17:06
Paint the box and leave it to dry. | 0:17:06 | 0:17:11
Next, take a sheet of brown paper, wrap it around a ball | 0:17:11 | 0:17:16
and tie it together with string. | 0:17:16 | 0:17:20
Carefully trim around the edges to make the scarecrow's head. | 0:17:20 | 0:17:25
Now add a squirt of gloopy glue to some paint. | 0:17:25 | 0:17:29
Mix it together and use it to paint a clean yoghurt pot. | 0:17:29 | 0:17:34
When it's dry, glue it onto the scarecrow's head. | 0:17:34 | 0:17:39
Add stickers for eyes and draw a mouth. | 0:17:39 | 0:17:43
Glue the head onto the body and then add more stickers for buttons. | 0:17:47 | 0:17:53
Stand it up in another piece of modelling clay | 0:17:53 | 0:17:56
and your mini scarecrow is finished and ready to play with. | 0:17:56 | 0:18:01
What a perfect way to make a scarecrow | 0:18:01 | 0:18:03
