There's always so much to see and do when I'm out and about

in the Makermobile.

-What can we make with this old paper bag?

Oh, good question. What can we make with this old paper party bag?

Ha-ha! Wait a minute!

If we put on some ears, eyes, a nose and mouth,

this bag starts to look like a bag animal.

This has just given me a great idea. Let's try something.

Try turning an old paper bag into a fantastic picture of a mouse.

Let's make it! But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Ha-ha! And we'll also need some things from the doodle drawers.

Some paper and a glue stick.

Some stickers, some scissors,

a pipe cleaner and some paper cups.

We also need some other things, too.

I wonder if Scraps can help us.

Oh, hello, Scraps! Why are you honking that horn?

I honked a horn at you, so you're honking back? Fair enough.

We need a small pom-pom. Could you find one, please? Thank you.

Hey, well done, Scraps! That is the perfect pom-pom.

Thank you.

And we also need a pen.

OK, then, Nur and Anaya.

Let's make a bag animal picture like this one here.

You can make whatever animal you like,

but we're going to make a marvellous mouse.

-OK, are you ready?

-BOTH: Yes!

Brilliant. Are you ready? Fantastic. Let's get making.

Now, first we're going to bring in a sheet of coloured paper,

and we're going to stick down our party bag.

Now, we need to make sure that the party bag is stuck

in the middle of the paper with this flap here at the top

and the open end of the bag here at the bottom.

Now glue the bag down.

This will be our mouse's body. But what else does our mouse need?

-A tail.

-A tail! That's right.

So, Anaya, can you take a pipe cleaner

and twist it into the shape of a mouse's tail?

Fantastic. Right, past the tail over, please, Anaya. Thank you.

I'm going to glue it in place just here.

Next, we need to glue this strip of coloured paper

at the bottom of the picture.

Perfect. Now we need to draw four big circles on some dark paper.

And two smaller circles on some lighter paper.

When drawing circles, it is a good idea to draw around

something that's round, like a paper cup.

So if I pass these bits of paper over to you, have a paper cup each,

and if you don't mind, start drawing some circles.

Now, we're using grey and pink card for our mouse,

but you can use whatever colour you like. Excellent!

Now, I'm going to take the bigger circles here

and draw curvy lines like this on two of them.

And then we cut all our shapes out.

-We need to be careful with scissors, because they are...?

-Sharp.

-Right!

These curvy shapes will be the feet, and the circles will be the ears.

There we go. Put some glue on there, please.

Now we can glue on our ears and feet.

And stick on a pom-pom for the nose. Great!

Now, our mouse also needs two eyes.

-Here's some stickers, Mister Maker.

-Thank you very much, Anaya. Perfect.

We can use stickers for eyes and draw some pupils in the middle.

And we can also draw on some whiskers.

There. We're all finished. It's a marvellous mouse.

A brilliant bag animal.

And you can make all kinds of animals in the same way.

How about a spotty frog with a pipe cleaner tongue catching a fly?

Or you could even make a lobster,

with wiggly legs and snappy paper claws.

Bag animals - why don't you try one today?

It's a great way to reuse an old paper bag.

Squawk! Minute-make time!

Hey, it's minute-make time! I'm on my way!

Here we are.

It's minute-make time, everyone!

Ooh! Sorry about that, can you hear that?

Sorry about that, my tummy's rumbling. I'm a bit hungry, you see.

I'll tell you why - because I've just seen today's minute make!

It's this tasty looking slice of paper-plate fruit.

We can make that in just one minute by using these things.

A pen, a pair of scissors, a glue stick, and a pink and green plate.

Don't worry if you haven't got a pink and green plate,

you can always use white plates and then paint them.

Do you think it's possible to make this slice of paper-plate fruit...

in just one minute?

CHILDREN: No way!

Let's find out. I'll have to be very quick, but don't worry -

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

CHILDREN: Yes!

Are you ready? Brilliant.

Let's make it in a minute.

-CHILDREN: Three, two, one, go!

-Start the clock!

Let's get our two plates and we're going to fold them in half together,

like this, and then fold them back the other way, like that.

We take out green plate and make a cut with some scissors.

We must be careful with scissors as they are...

-CHILDREN: Sharp!

-That's right.

Let's cut all the way around there.

We're cutting out a circle in the middle.

Let's get rid of that, and that gives us a circle shape.

Now let's get some glue and we're going to put it

all the way around the edge, then we can put our green circle on top.

Then squidge it down so it's stuck nicely. If we fold it again,

we can see our slice of paper-plate fruit is taking shape.

Now we need to get our pen and draw on some seeds.

There's one in the middle there, and one there, one there,

one there and one there, and we've made some paper-plate fruit!

Woo! Just in time, but if you've got more than a minute,

you can try lots of other ideas too.

How about a slice of crunchy apple using a green and white plate?

Or you could try a slice of kiwifruit

with a green and brown plate, with a white core.

You can even cut triangles into a yellow plate

to make a juicy slice of orange.

Paper-plate fruit slices, made in a minute!

Why don't you try it? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Fold both plates in half,

cut out the middle of the green plate to leave a green ring.

Stick this to the pink plate. Draw on seeds...

..And your paper-plate fruit is finished.

Now, how can we make all the people watching the game?

We could put faces on the plates.

-ALL: Yes!

I'm making the goalposts.

We're painting trophies.

These are going to be the crowd's faces.

This is the goal.

And here's a blue sky.

I think it's just about time to bring in the crowds.

Come on, let's bring them in. That's it, come on!

This big surprise has been great fun so far,

so why don't you join in and make your very own mini-make?

Try making a wonderful winner's trophy.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it. To make one, you'll need...

A plastic plant pot, glue,

two clean yoghurt pots, water, scissors,

a brush and a pen, gold or silver tissue paper, card and kitchen foil.

First, glue a big and small yoghurt pot together.

Then stick a plant pot on top, like this.

Now, fold a piece of card in half.

And draw a handle shape at the unfolded edge of the card.

Carefully, cut it out to make two handles.

Tape these to the plant pot on either side.

Then make a gluey mixture - that's half gloopy glue, and half water.

Brush it onto the trophy.

And stick the pieces of gold or silver tissue paper all over it.

And leave it to dry.

Now, draw shapes or letters onto the kitchen foil.

Carefully cut them out. Stick them onto the trophy to decorate it.

Your very own wonderful winner's trophy is finished,

and ready to play with.

Why don't you try to make that terrific trophy?
