CHILDREN: Mister Maker comes to town! | 0:00:42 | 0:00:45
Hello, nice to see you. | 0:00:47 | 0:00:50
I'm out and about in my marvellous Makermobile, | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
and the great thing about my Makermobile | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
is that it can go anywhere. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:57
Tocky here, Mini Maker message! | 0:00:57 | 0:01:01
-Hello, I'm Manuka. -Hi, Manuka, can I help you today? | 0:01:01 | 0:01:05
-Yes, please, Mister Maker. -I'll be right with you. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:09
Here I am. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:27
Hello, Manuka, great to meet you. Now, how can I help you today? | 0:01:31 | 0:01:35
Can we make something with these old toys? | 0:01:35 | 0:01:39
I think we can make something with these old toys. Let's have a look. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:43
Aren't they great? | 0:01:43 | 0:01:45
Nice digger. Oh, we could use this. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:50
I love diggers. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:51
ENGINE STARTS | 0:01:53 | 0:01:57
HORN BLOWS | 0:01:57 | 0:01:59
Ha ha, that's just given me a great idea. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:03
Let's try something. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
Try making a tyre print picture by painting with an old toy. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:11
Let's make it. But, first we'll need somewhere to make it. Ha ha! | 0:02:11 | 0:02:18
Ha ha ha! And, we'll also need some other things from the doodle drawers. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:24
I'll be back soon. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:25
Some coloured paper, a glue stick and a pen... | 0:02:28 | 0:02:32
Some paint... | 0:02:35 | 0:02:37
We also need some paper plates. I know, I'll ask Scraps. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:46
Hello. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:48
Hello, Scraps. Now, we need some paper plates. Can you help? | 0:02:48 | 0:02:52
Wow! Ha ha! Right, give it, give it, give it. | 0:02:55 | 0:03:01
Thank you, Scraps. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:03
Ha ha! | 0:03:04 | 0:03:06 | |
OK, then, Manuka. | 0:03:06 | 0:03:08
Let's make a tyre print picture, like this one here. | 0:03:08 | 0:03:12
Very colourful! | 0:03:12 | 0:03:14
-All right then, Manuka, are you ready? -Yes. | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
Brilliant, are you ready? | 0:03:17 | 0:03:20
Fantastic. Let's get making. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
The first thing we're going to do | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
is squeeze out some blobs of different coloured paint, | 0:03:24 | 0:03:27
onto some paper plates. | 0:03:27 | 0:03:29
We're going to use green, blue, pink and yellow. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:33
But, you can use whatever colours you like. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:37
Now for the fun bit, we're going to drive our digger through the paint, | 0:03:39 | 0:03:44
so the wheels get completely covered. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
We're also going to use a small tractor, | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
but any toy with wheels will do the job. | 0:03:50 | 0:03:52
All right then, Manuka, let's get our toys all painty. | 0:03:52 | 0:03:58
Make sure they're loaded up with paint, please. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:02
Now we need to choose a sheet of background paper, | 0:04:05 | 0:04:08
you can choose whatever colour you like, | 0:04:08 | 0:04:11
but this can get a little bit messy. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:13
So, it's a good idea to put down some old paper first. | 0:04:13 | 0:04:16
We are going to drive our toys across the page | 0:04:16 | 0:04:20
to make painty tyre tracks. | 0:04:20 | 0:04:22
Let's start with the digger, can you pass me that digger, please? | 0:04:22 | 0:04:26
-Oho, brilliant. -Can we have some more paint on there, please? | 0:04:30 | 0:04:34
Let's try our tractor. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:44
Dip it in pink paint. | 0:04:44 | 0:04:46
Then, carry on printing. | 0:04:47 | 0:04:50
Remember, if you change paint colour make sure you clean the toy's wheels. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:55
And, when you are happy with your picture, leave it to dry. | 0:04:55 | 0:05:00
Now, we can bring in some coloured paper, like this. | 0:05:00 | 0:05:04
Put our digger on its side and then draw around it. Aha! | 0:05:04 | 0:05:09
And now, we can add in extra details, like windows, | 0:05:09 | 0:05:12
doors, and wheel shapes. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:15
Next, we can cut this out, | 0:05:17 | 0:05:19
-but we need to be careful because scissors are... -Sharp! | 0:05:19 | 0:05:22
That's right. Yes. | 0:05:22 | 0:05:24
Can you put some glue on the back of this, please, Manuka? | 0:05:29 | 0:05:34
Thank you, and now, we can bring our background paper back in | 0:05:34 | 0:05:39
and stick on the digger to make a terrific tyre print picture. | 0:05:39 | 0:05:45
And you can make all sorts of pictures like this in the same way. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:50
How about making a really whizzy print using toy cars? | 0:05:50 | 0:05:53
Or you could try printing with any toy that has wheels. | 0:05:53 | 0:05:57
-Tyre print pictures are great fun, aren't they, Manuka? -Yes. | 0:05:57 | 0:06:02
Brilliant, we made it. And now, your home is where the art is. | 0:06:02 | 0:06:06
High five, well done! | 0:06:06 | 0:06:09
What a terrific tyre print picture. Well done, Manuka. Bye! | 0:06:09 | 0:06:15
Ha ha ha, lovely. | 0:06:16 | 0:06:17
It's brilliant being out and about in the Makermobile, | 0:06:17 | 0:06:21
there's always so much to see and do. | 0:06:21 | 0:06:24
What's that noise? | 0:06:26 | 0:06:30
Oh, I know, do you? | 0:06:30 | 0:06:34
# I am a shape | 0:06:38 | 0:06:40
# I am a shape | 0:06:44 | 0:06:46
# I am a circle | 0:06:48 | 0:06:52
# I am a triangle | 0:06:52 | 0:06:55
# I am a square | 0:06:57 | 0:07:01
# I am a rectangle | 0:07:03 | 0:07:05
# I am a shape | 0:07:12 | 0:07:15
# I am a shape | 0:07:16 | 0:07:18
# I am a shape | 0:07:20 | 0:07:23
# I am a shape | 0:07:26 | 0:07:29
# I am a triangle. # | 0:07:34 | 0:07:37
What's hiding in the triangles? | 0:07:40 | 0:07:43
Can you guess? | 0:07:48 | 0:07:49
It's a helicopter. Well done, Shapes. | 0:07:54 | 0:07:58
It's time to get back in the doodle drawers. | 0:07:58 | 0:08:02
Ha ha! | 0:08:05 | 0:08:08 | |
Oh, this is a lovely day for a drive out in the Makermobile, isn't it? | 0:08:12 | 0:08:17
-Oh! -Minute-make time! | 0:08:17 | 0:08:19
Hey, it's minute-make time. I'm on my way. | 0:08:19 | 0:08:24
I'm here. | 0:08:35 | 0:08:38
It's minute-make time, everyone. | 0:08:43 | 0:08:46
Oh, hang on, where did I put the keys to the Makermobile? | 0:08:47 | 0:08:51
They're not in there, I thought I put them there. | 0:08:51 | 0:08:55
-Have you seen my keys, madam? -No. | 0:08:55 | 0:08:57
-Have you seen them? -No. -Have you seen my keys? -No. | 0:08:57 | 0:09:00
Oh, dear. I can't remember where I put them. Oh, yes I can. | 0:09:00 | 0:09:04
I put them inside my handy pot pet. | 0:09:04 | 0:09:07
Handy pot pets are really good at keeping things safe. | 0:09:09 | 0:09:14
And, this one is a very handy dog. Thank you very much. | 0:09:14 | 0:09:19
Now, we can make one of these in just one minute by using these things. | 0:09:19 | 0:09:24
Some pom-poms, some stickers, a pair of scissors, some craft foam, | 0:09:24 | 0:09:30
some fun fur, a glue stick, an empty pot with a lid and some sticky tape. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:36
Now, do you think it is possible to make this, | 0:09:36 | 0:09:39
handy pot pet in just one minute? | 0:09:39 | 0:09:43
-ALL: No way! -Well, let's find out. | 0:09:43 | 0:09:46
I'm going to have to be very quick, | 0:09:46 | 0:09:48
but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. | 0:09:48 | 0:09:51
-Are you ready? -Yeah! -Ha ha, are you ready? | 0:09:51 | 0:09:56
-Great, let's make it in a minute. -Three, two, one, go! | 0:09:56 | 0:10:01
Start the clock! | 0:10:01 | 0:10:02
Firstly, we need to get our craft foam | 0:10:02 | 0:10:05
and fold it in half like that. | 0:10:05 | 0:10:07
Very carefully we're going to cut out an ear shape. | 0:10:07 | 0:10:10
-We need to be careful with scissors because they're... -Sharp! | 0:10:10 | 0:10:14
That's right, you can see we have got two ear shapes, there we go. | 0:10:14 | 0:10:19
If we put some sticky tape on there, we can stick them on to the pot. | 0:10:19 | 0:10:24
Now, let's put plenty of glue on the pot like this. | 0:10:24 | 0:10:27
There we go, lots of glue there. | 0:10:27 | 0:10:30
Then we can stick on our fun fur, there it goes, all the way around. | 0:10:30 | 0:10:35
That is really taking shape now. | 0:10:35 | 0:10:37
Now, let's give him a face, so let's put some glue in there. | 0:10:37 | 0:10:42
Now we need to give him a nose with one pom-pom, | 0:10:42 | 0:10:45
and then two eyes, like that. | 0:10:45 | 0:10:47
Then he just needs some stickers, one there and another one there. | 0:10:47 | 0:10:52
And we've made a handy pot pet! | 0:10:52 | 0:10:54
Just in time, | 0:10:58 | 0:10:59
but if you've got more than a minute, you can try all sorts of ideas. | 0:10:59 | 0:11:03
How about this wild cat? With spotty fur and funny fangs. | 0:11:03 | 0:11:08
Or, how about a lovely cow, with black and white fur and big ears? | 0:11:08 | 0:11:13
Or you could even make a crazy creature with scruffy fur | 0:11:13 | 0:11:17
and curly pipe-cleaner hair. | 0:11:17 | 0:11:19
Handy pot pets, made in a minute. Why don't you try it? | 0:11:19 | 0:11:23
Here is a reminder of how to do it. | 0:11:23 | 0:11:26
Let's go back and take another look. | 0:11:26 | 0:11:28
Fold the craft foam in half, and cut out ear shapes. | 0:11:28 | 0:11:33
Tape them to the pot, glue the fun fur on like this. | 0:11:33 | 0:11:37
Stick pom-poms to the lid for the eyes and nose, | 0:11:37 | 0:11:40
and stickers for pupils, and your pot pet is finished. | 0:11:40 | 0:11:45
Why don't you try and make it in a minute? | 0:11:47 | 0:11:50
It's a great way to keep your things safe, | 0:11:50 | 0:11:52
and you'll never lose anything again. | 0:11:52 | 0:11:54
Right, it's time for me to go, everyone. | 0:11:54 | 0:11:56
Thank you so much for being part of another marvellous minute-make. | 0:11:56 | 0:11:59
You've forgotten something! | 0:11:59 | 0:12:02
I forgot my keys, didn't I? | 0:12:02 | 0:12:04
They're in here, of course they are! | 0:12:04 | 0:12:07
-Thank you, handy pot pet. Goodbye, everyone! -ALL: Goodbye! | 0:12:07 | 0:12:13
Oh, I love driving the maker-mobile. Where shall we go to next? | 0:12:17 | 0:12:22
Hello, Mr Maker! | 0:12:22 | 0:12:26
-Oh, nice to see you! -Can you guess what we're making today? | 0:12:26 | 0:12:30
What are they going to make? | 0:12:30 | 0:12:32
I am grey. | 0:12:35 | 0:12:38
I am green. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:45
I am orange. | 0:12:50 | 0:12:52
TOGETHER: It's carrots! | 0:13:08 | 0:13:10
Well done, everyone. See you soon! | 0:13:10 | 0:13:13
Hello, are you ready for a big surprise? | 0:13:16 | 0:13:21
These Mini Makers have no idea we're about to make something | 0:13:21 | 0:13:25
very special. | 0:13:25 | 0:13:26
-Let's give them a big surprise. Hello! -Mr Maker! | 0:13:26 | 0:13:33
Hello, it's lovely to meet you, and I need your help today. | 0:13:33 | 0:13:37
Aha, aha, hello, it is I, sir Make-a-lot, the famous knight, | 0:13:38 | 0:13:43
and I'm looking for a dragon. | 0:13:43 | 0:13:46
-Have you seen one? -ALL: No! | 0:13:46 | 0:13:49
Dragons are long, they've got wings and they breathe fire. | 0:13:49 | 0:13:53
-Are you sure you haven't seen one? -No. | 0:13:53 | 0:13:56
Oh, in that case, I think we should make a big dragon, will you help me? | 0:13:56 | 0:14:02
-Yes! -Fantastic! All right, then. | 0:14:02 | 0:14:05
Lola, Kieran, Faiza, David and Holly, let's make it! | 0:14:05 | 0:14:11
I might just take this off first, though. | 0:14:11 | 0:14:14
Mini Makers, we're going to make a big dragon. | 0:14:14 | 0:14:17
-Now what does a dragon look like? -Big and green. -Big and green? | 0:14:17 | 0:14:22
Oh, what's this? | 0:14:22 | 0:14:24
-What part of the dragon would this be, do you think? -The leg! -The leg! | 0:14:24 | 0:14:29
-Where do you think our dragon should live? -In a cave. -In a bat cave! | 0:14:29 | 0:14:33
How big is the cave? Show me, everybody! | 0:14:33 | 0:14:36
This big. | 0:14:36 | 0:14:38
-And, what colour shall we paint our cave? -Red. -Brown. -Lovely. | 0:14:38 | 0:14:42
Right, Mini Makers, I think we're ready. | 0:14:42 | 0:14:45
Come on then, let's make it! | 0:14:45 | 0:14:48
I'm painting the dragon's wings. | 0:14:52 | 0:14:54
I'm painting the dragon's scales. | 0:14:55 | 0:14:59
-Hello, my friends. Now, what are we painting here? -A cave! | 0:15:06 | 0:15:12
-Oh, thank you very much. OK, then, can I help? -Yes. | 0:15:12 | 0:15:18
OK, thank you. Lovely. | 0:15:18 | 0:15:21
It's looking great, everybody. | 0:15:24 | 0:15:26
Now we'll need a cave background. | 0:15:26 | 0:15:30
That's it, in it comes. That's it. | 0:15:31 | 0:15:34
This big surprise has been great fun so far, | 0:15:34 | 0:15:38
so why don't you join in and make your own mini make? | 0:15:38 | 0:15:43
Try making a pet dragon to play with. Make it, then have fun with it. | 0:15:43 | 0:15:50
To make one you will need egg box lids, | 0:15:50 | 0:15:53
some glue, sticky tape, | 0:15:53 | 0:15:56
a plastic bottle, stickers, | 0:15:56 | 0:16:00
tissue paper, cotton wool balls, | 0:16:00 | 0:16:04
scissors and a brush, and some card. | 0:16:04 | 0:16:07
First, roll a sheet of card into a cone shape and tape it together. | 0:16:07 | 0:16:13
Then stick the bottle in one end, like this. | 0:16:14 | 0:16:18
Now bend the end of the cone into a curve. | 0:16:21 | 0:16:26
Next, take two clean egg box lids and tape them together at one end. | 0:16:29 | 0:16:35
Tape them to the bottle, | 0:16:35 | 0:16:40
then cover it all in gloopy glue | 0:16:40 | 0:16:44
and torn tissue paper pieces. | 0:16:44 | 0:16:47
When it's dry, fold a piece of card in half | 0:16:48 | 0:16:53
and draw a wing shape | 0:16:53 | 0:16:56
and two leg shapes, starting at the folded edge. | 0:16:56 | 0:17:00
Cut them out, and unfold them. | 0:17:01 | 0:17:04
Then, glue them to the rest of the dragon, like this. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:09
Stick on cotton wool balls for eyes, | 0:17:11 | 0:17:15
and add stickers for pupils, and nostrils. | 0:17:15 | 0:17:20
Your friendly dragon is finished. | 0:17:21 | 0:17:24
Fantastic! | 0:17:24 | 0:17:27
Why don't you try to make a delightful little dragon? | 0:17:29 | 0:17:34
Right now, let's see how our Mini Makers are getting on. | 0:17:34 | 0:17:37
-Oh, this looks good what's this, mini-makers? -ALL: A cave! | 0:17:37 | 0:17:41
The cave. I think our dragon is going to love this. | 0:17:41 | 0:17:44
Oh, bring him in David, that's it. Come in. | 0:17:44 | 0:17:47
-Looking good, what do we need now? -He needs a leg. -Of course we do. | 0:17:58 | 0:18:04
Oh, look, here they come now! Bring them in, Mini Makers. | 0:18:04 | 0:18:07
That's it, our dragon needs some legs. | 0:18:07 | 0:18:10
That's it, well done, David. And Lola, brilliant! | 0:18:10 | 0:18:14
