I'm out and about in my marvellous Makermobile,

and the great thing about my Makermobile

is that it can go anywhere.

I think we can make something with these old toys. Let's have a look.

Let's try something.

Try making a tyre print picture by painting with an old toy.

Let's make it. But, first we'll need somewhere to make it. Ha ha!

Ha ha ha! And, we'll also need some other things from the doodle drawers.

OK, then, Manuka.

Let's make a tyre print picture, like this one here.

Very colourful!

-All right then, Manuka, are you ready?

-Yes.

Brilliant, are you ready?

Fantastic. Let's get making.

The first thing we're going to do

is squeeze out some blobs of different coloured paint,

onto some paper plates.

We're going to use green, blue, pink and yellow.

But, you can use whatever colours you like.

Now for the fun bit, we're going to drive our digger through the paint,

so the wheels get completely covered.

We're also going to use a small tractor,

but any toy with wheels will do the job.

All right then, Manuka, let's get our toys all painty.

Make sure they're loaded up with paint, please.

Now we need to choose a sheet of background paper,

you can choose whatever colour you like,

but this can get a little bit messy.

So, it's a good idea to put down some old paper first.

We are going to drive our toys across the page

to make painty tyre tracks.

Let's start with the digger, can you pass me that digger, please?

-Oho, brilliant.

-Can we have some more paint on there, please?

Let's try our tractor.

Dip it in pink paint.

Then, carry on printing.

Remember, if you change paint colour make sure you clean the toy's wheels.

And, when you are happy with your picture, leave it to dry.

Now, we can bring in some coloured paper, like this.

Put our digger on its side and then draw around it. Aha!

And now, we can add in extra details, like windows,

doors, and wheel shapes.

Next, we can cut this out,

-but we need to be careful because scissors are...

-Sharp!

That's right. Yes.

Can you put some glue on the back of this, please, Manuka?

Thank you, and now, we can bring our background paper back in

and stick on the digger to make a terrific tyre print picture.

And you can make all sorts of pictures like this in the same way.

How about making a really whizzy print using toy cars?

Or you could try printing with any toy that has wheels.

-Tyre print pictures are great fun, aren't they, Manuka?

-Yes.

Brilliant, we made it. And now, your home is where the art is.

Oh, this is a lovely day for a drive out in the Makermobile, isn't it?

-Minute-make time!

Hey, it's minute-make time. I'm on my way.

I'm here.

It's minute-make time, everyone.

Oh, hang on, where did I put the keys to the Makermobile?

They're not in there, I thought I put them there.

-Have you seen my keys, madam?

-No.

-Have you seen them?

-No.

-Have you seen my keys?

-No.

Oh, dear. I can't remember where I put them. Oh, yes I can.

I put them inside my handy pot pet.

Handy pot pets are really good at keeping things safe.

And, this one is a very handy dog. Thank you very much.

Now, we can make one of these in just one minute by using these things.

Some pom-poms, some stickers, a pair of scissors, some craft foam,

some fun fur, a glue stick, an empty pot with a lid and some sticky tape.

Now, do you think it is possible to make this,

handy pot pet in just one minute?

-ALL: No way!

-Well, let's find out.

I'm going to have to be very quick,

but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-Yeah!

-Ha ha, are you ready?

-Great, let's make it in a minute.

-Three, two, one, go!

Start the clock!

Firstly, we need to get our craft foam

and fold it in half like that.

Very carefully we're going to cut out an ear shape.

-We need to be careful with scissors because they're...

-Sharp!

That's right, you can see we have got two ear shapes, there we go.

If we put some sticky tape on there, we can stick them on to the pot.

Now, let's put plenty of glue on the pot like this.

There we go, lots of glue there.

Then we can stick on our fun fur, there it goes, all the way around.

That is really taking shape now.

Now, let's give him a face, so let's put some glue in there.

Now we need to give him a nose with one pom-pom,

and then two eyes, like that.

Then he just needs some stickers, one there and another one there.

And we've made a handy pot pet!

Just in time,

but if you've got more than a minute, you can try all sorts of ideas.

How about this wild cat? With spotty fur and funny fangs.

Or, how about a lovely cow, with black and white fur and big ears?

Or you could even make a crazy creature with scruffy fur

and curly pipe-cleaner hair.

Handy pot pets, made in a minute. Why don't you try it?

Here is a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back and take another look.

Fold the craft foam in half, and cut out ear shapes.

Tape them to the pot, glue the fun fur on like this.

Stick pom-poms to the lid for the eyes and nose,

and stickers for pupils, and your pot pet is finished.

Why don't you try and make it in a minute?

It's a great way to keep your things safe,

and you'll never lose anything again.

These Mini Makers have no idea we're about to make something

very special.

-Let's give them a big surprise. Hello!

-Mr Maker!

Hello, it's lovely to meet you, and I need your help today.

Aha, aha, hello, it is I, sir Make-a-lot, the famous knight,

and I'm looking for a dragon.

-Have you seen one?

-ALL: No!

Dragons are long, they've got wings and they breathe fire.

-Are you sure you haven't seen one?

-No.

Oh, in that case, I think we should make a big dragon, will you help me?

-Yes!

-Fantastic! All right, then.

Lola, Kieran, Faiza, David and Holly, let's make it!

I might just take this off first, though.

Mini Makers, we're going to make a big dragon.

-Now what does a dragon look like?

-Big and green.

-Big and green?

Oh, what's this?

-What part of the dragon would this be, do you think?

-The leg!

-The leg!

-Where do you think our dragon should live?

-In a cave.

-In a bat cave!

How big is the cave? Show me, everybody!

-And, what colour shall we paint our cave?

-Red.

Right, Mini Makers, I think we're ready.

Come on then, let's make it!

I'm painting the dragon's wings.

-Hello, my friends. Now, what are we painting here?

-A cave!

-Oh, thank you very much. OK, then, can I help?

-Yes.

OK, thank you. Lovely.

It's looking great, everybody.

Now we'll need a cave background.

That's it, in it comes. That's it.

This big surprise has been great fun so far,

so why don't you join in and make your own mini make?

Try making a pet dragon to play with. Make it, then have fun with it.

To make one you will need egg box lids,

some glue, sticky tape,

a plastic bottle, stickers,

tissue paper, cotton wool balls,

scissors and a brush, and some card.

First, roll a sheet of card into a cone shape and tape it together.

Then stick the bottle in one end, like this.

Now bend the end of the cone into a curve.

Next, take two clean egg box lids and tape them together at one end.

Tape them to the bottle,

then cover it all in gloopy glue

and torn tissue paper pieces.

When it's dry, fold a piece of card in half

and draw a wing shape

and two leg shapes, starting at the folded edge.

Cut them out, and unfold them.

Then, glue them to the rest of the dragon, like this.

Stick on cotton wool balls for eyes,

and add stickers for pupils, and nostrils.

Your friendly dragon is finished.

Fantastic!

Why don't you try to make a delightful little dragon?

Right now, let's see how our Mini Makers are getting on.

-Oh, this looks good what's this, mini-makers?

-ALL: A cave!

The cave. I think our dragon is going to love this.

Oh, bring him in David, that's it. Come in.

-Looking good, what do we need now?

-He needs a leg.

-Of course we do.

Oh, look, here they come now! Bring them in, Mini Makers.

That's it, our dragon needs some legs.

That's it, well done, David. And Lola, brilliant!

And don't forget the claws,

the scales, and the wings.

That was fun! Our dragon's very realistic. Yikes!
