But this brush is a little bit too small.

And we also need lots of lovely, colourful tissue paper!

All right, Ben,

let's make a tartan tissue picture, like this one...

here.

Tartan is a very special pattern,

with lots of colourful stripes criss-crossing each other.

-All right then, Ben. Are you ready?

-Yeah!

-Great!

Are YOU ready?

Brilliant! Let's get making!

Now first,

we're going to get some sheets of coloured tissue paper.

This usually comes folded up. But YOU can fold it yourself.

Now, let's take a ruler...

Excuse me, Ben ..and we're going to use

the ruler to tear strips

of the tissue paper like this.

There we go.

This gives us a tissue paper strip.

Look at that! I need to make lots of strips, Ben. Will you help?

-Yeah!

-Great! OK, take a ruler,

and let's get some tissue paper for you.

Let's tear some strips.

Yes! Well done!

You keep going with that, and I'll keep going with the purple.

We'll need lots of strips for our pattern.

TICK TOCK!

And you can use any colours.

Well done, Ben!

Lots of lovely paper strips here.

Let's move them all over to you.

Can you take these?

You look after those,

because we need to bring in a sheet of light-coloured card...

like this.

And we're going to brush water all over it.

This can get messy, so put down some old paper or newspaper first.

Excellent! Now we can start

to lay down our tissue paper strips.

Let's start with purple.

We're going to lay our strips down ACROSS the card,

and then we can brush some extra water on top...

to make sure it's really stuck down.

Great! Now let's stick down the rest of our strips.

Green.

Pink.

Orange.

And yellow.

Now repeat your colours in the same way, to the bottom of the page.

We've got all of our strips

that are lying ACROSS the card.

And now we're going to lay down

strips from the TOP to the BOTTOM.

So let's start with purple,

and lay the strips down in the same order.

And make sure your tissue paper stays nice and wet.

Now we leave it to dry overnight.

Unless, of course,

you can use some Mister Maker magic to speed things up!

Ben, get ready to click those fingers.

One, two, three! CLICK!

Oh, look at that!

It's all dry, and it's time for even more magic now, because

when the tissue strips are dry, we can carefully peel them away...

..to see that our criss-cross pattern has been left behind!

The colour has leaked from the tissue paper strips onto our card.

And our tartan tissue picture is finished!

You can use the same idea to make all sorts of different pictures!

You could try using other colours, like red and orange.

Why not try laying the tissue paper in a different direction,

like this blue and green pattern?

Or you could even cut out tissue paper circles,

and make a colourful spotty pattern.

We've arrived!

And today, we're going to make something using SOCKS!

I love socks! I love...bright socks!

Spotty socks. Very colourful.

And I also love...long, stripy socks. Ho-ho!

Socks are great fun to wear, but they're also great fun

to make things with, like this stripy sock-bug!

Hi, Stripy!

And you can make one in just one minute, by using...

a pencil, a pipe cleaner, a long sock... You can use

whatever sock you like, but it's great if it's stripy.

..some uncooked rice, a glue stick

and we'll also need some googly eyes.

You can find those in an art and craft shop.

Now, do you think it's possible to make THIS

stripy sock-bug in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

Well, let's find out!

I'll have to be very quick, but don't worry,

I'll show you how to do it at the end! Are you ready?

ALL: Ye-e-es!

Ha-ha! Are YOU ready?

Brilliant! Let's make it in a minute!

ALL: Three, two, one...GO!

Right, first, we're going to get our rice,

and we're going to pour it very carefully into the sock.

So it's about half full, like that.

Then we're going to tie a knot in the end, like that.

Nice and tight, so the rice doesn't fall out. There we go.

Now we need to get our pipe cleaner,

and very carefully push it through the sock,

like this.

Is it going to go through? Hang on, there it is!

Pull it so it sticks out of both ends. And then grab a pencil.

We're going to wind the pipe cleaner around the pencil

that side, and then also wind it around that side.

And if we pull out the pencil and bend these up,

we've got some funny antennae!

We need eyes now! Let's get some glue,

a googly eye on one side.

And another one.

There's another one!

And we've made a stripy sock-bug!

HOORAY!

Phew! Just in time! But if you've got MORE than a minute,

why don't you try lots of other ideas?

You can make a spotty one, with a spotty sock and pompoms.

If you've only got a plain sock, you could stick on these stars.

And with a really long sock,

you could make a really long bug!

Stripy sock-bugs, made in a minute! Why don't you try it?

Here's a reminder of how to do it!

Let's take another look.

Half-fill a sock with rice.

Tie a knot at the end,

push a pipe cleaner through the sock like this!

And wrap it around a pencil.

Stick on googly eyes!

And your stripy sock-bug is finished!

Now, do YOU like robots?

I love everything about robots, especially robot dancing!

I think we should make a whole FAMILY of robots!

Now, Mini Makers, we're going to make some big robots!

-What do robots look like?

-Metal men.

That's right! Like metal men! How many robots shall we make?

I think three's a good number.

We could use cardboard boxes to make our robots.

Now, can you see anything on the table

that we could stick onto our boxes?

We could use the lids for buttons.

Wow! The buttons on the chest of the robot!

What could we make arms from?

-We can get that and then stick that onto there.

-Oh, yes! Look!

This could be a robot's arm.

All right, then, Mini Makers! Are we ready?

-ALL: Yeah!

-Come on, then. Let's make it!

Let's start by covering the big boxes.

And we will need lots of different pieces for our robots.

-Hello, Mini Makers! What are we doing, Kai?

-We're making wires.

Here it comes.

Good idea, Kai! That's great!

Let's paint a background.

That's it! In you come, Mini Makers!

This big surprise has been GREAT fun so far,

so why don't YOU join in and make your very own mini-make?

Make your own fantastic mini robot, to play with and have fun with.

You will need...paint, boxes, bottle tops,

stickers and shiny paper, glue, scissors and a brush.

First, take a rectangle-shaped box and glue a smaller one on top.

Stick thin boxes on each side for arms.

Now, take four small boxes and stick them together to make legs,

like this!

And glue them to the body.

Next, paint the robot...

and leave it to dry.

You can decorate it with paper and stickers,

and add bottle tops for eyes.

Your cardboard box robot is finished, and ready to play with!

WHIRR! BLEEP!

I love that robot!

But I wonder how our big robot family is coming along?
