Isabel likes to go bug hunting.

Where do you think it's going to be? Shall we go and have a look

-down here?

-Yeah.

-Come on then.

Today, Isabel is going to do something new for the first time.

But what will it be?

This is Isabel's memory box.

It helps her remember all the exciting things that happen.

See if you can spot anything going in it today.

-Let's have a little look. Can you see any bugs yet?

-No.

If you look in the trees here, they might have some there.

Now Isabel has finished looking at the bee, she can let it go.

Isabel, look what Mum's found, snails!

-Can you see the big one?

-Yeah.

-Can you see the little one?

-No, I can't.

Oh, dear, Isabel. I wonder why you can't see the little snail.

-Maybe we should get your eyes tested.

-Yeah.

Come on then, shall we go and release these ones?

An eye test sounds like a good idea.

The first thing to go into Isabel's memory box is a magnifying glass.

As Isabel is struggling to see, her mum has brought her for an eye test.

I came to have my eyes tested.

Excellent, take a seat, be with you in a moment.

Our eyes are really important to us, as they help us to see

everything we look at.

It's important that we get our eyes checked regularly by an optician,

who can see if our eyes are working properly.

Sometimes, people wear glasses to help them see better.

-Hello, Isabel. Have you come to let me look at your eyes today?

-Yeah.

Do you want to come on through?

So, why've you come in to see me today?

I couldn't see the little bugs.

You couldn't see the little bugs? What happened, Mum?

We were out bug hunting this morning

and she couldn't see the little tiny snail in the bug box.

OK, I'm really glad you've come in to see me today.

I can have a really good look at your eyes and see if I can help.

The first thing we're going to do is we're going to see what you can see.

I need to make you go a lot higher in that chair.

Are you ready? I've got a magic button.

It goes all the way up. How high do you think you're going to go?

Up we go.

-Is that high enough?

-No.

-No? I'm in trouble, then.

Let's have a look. I think that's high enough.

I think you can see there.

Isabel tries some special glasses, so the optician can test her eyes.

Can you tell me what pictures you can see up there in the mirror?

An aeroplane, scissors, a fish, a welly boot and a car.

Brilliant, that's fantastic. Well done.

Let's have a look with your other eye.

There are lots of different tests for the optician to

do to find out exactly how healthy your eyes are.

So, now, Isabel, I want you to look at the little bird here

and I want you to tell me what colour it is.

-Green and yellow.

-Very good. You keep looking at that budgie.

I'm going to bring it closer and closer and closer.

Well done. You're good at that. So, I'm going to have a look with this.

It's a big microscope.

It's got a big lens and a strong light in it,

so I can have a really good look at your eyes.

If you come forward and pop your chin on the chin rest.

And your forehead forwards.

I'm going to look down the microscope into your eye.

I can see your eyelids and your eyelashes.

I can see your pupils, I can your iris, which is

the blue bit at the front of your eye.

Isabel, we can see your eye on the screen.

Isabel, I've had a good look

at your eyes and they're beautifully healthy.

Your eyes are working a little too hard.

I'm going to organise a pair of glasses for you, so that

your eyes work the correct amount and you can see things more easily.

Like those little bugs that you were looking at yesterday.

-So, would you like to choose some nice new glasses?

-Yeah.

There are so many colours

and styles to choose from for the frames of your glasses.

Now, those aren't quite the right style for you.

Let's try a different pair. Thank you.

How about we try these? Try those.

Ah, now, those are the right size and the right colour for you.

Shall we take some measurements to make sure they fit you properly?

Now that Isabel has chosen her frames,

she needs to get lenses to go in them.

That's the bit that helps her see.

The second thing to go into the memory box is an eye test.

Isabel has come to the factory to watch her lenses being made.

The factory makes lenses, which can help you see better.

They're a bit like a magnifying glass.

These are then fitted in frames, which make our glasses.

Isabel is shown around the factory.

As everything is so clean, she has to wear a special white coat.

So, this is where we start to make your lenses.

What's that over there?

That's where the plastic that we make your lens from comes from.

-Lots of boxes.

-Lots of boxes, yeah.

Look, Isabel, they've started to make your lenses.

First, they pour really hot plastic into a mould

and leave it to set hard.

Next, the lenses are cut to size to fit your frames.

That's the lenses there.

When they're finished, they'll come around here

and go onto the next piece.

After Isabel's lenses have been cut,

they go on a long journey right around the factory,

where lots of different people

and machines have special jobs to make sure your lenses are perfect.

Your lenses need polishing, to make sure they're smooth.

Cleaned, to make sure there is no dirt on them and then

coated in a special, invisible paint,

to protect them from scratches.

Finally, your lenses are inspected,

to make sure they are fine to be sent to the optician's.

Now Isabel's lenses are finished, there is only one thing left to do.

We'll send them out to the optician in the post.

So let's go and see your lenses being sent out.

The third thing to go into the memory box is the lens factory.

The big day has arrived for Isabel to get her glasses.

Fantastic, I'll go and get them for you.

-Look what we've got in here for you.

-Wow!

Those are your new glasses. Can you unzip them?

-Wow! And my own cleaning cloth.

-Even your own cleaning cloth.

-Look at my cleaning cloth, Mum.

-That's lovely.

Shall we put these on and make sure they fit your properly?

Wow, those glasses really suit you, Isabel.

You'll definitely see much better now.

The fourth thing to go into the memory box are Isabel's glasses.

-Are you better now you've got your glasses? Can you see more?

-Yeah.

-Yeah, is everything clearer?

-Yeah. And I can see where I'm going.

Isabel likes wearing her new glasses.

They really help her to see everything more clearly.

-I don't think dolphins need glasses, do they?

-Yeah.

They don't need glasses!

-The snake does.

-Yeah, just like you with your glasses. Now you can see.

Today, Isabel got a pair of glasses. Do you remember what happened?
