Hi, Martin here.

First up today, fast cars,

burning tyres and famous drivers -

that's what you might think

of when it comes

to Formula 1 racing.

But now there's a row about a group

of women who work there.

Ricky's got this one.

The row is about the women who work

at Formula 1 races doing this...

Known as grid girls,

they're often seen lining

the race track and celebrating

with fans and winners.

Now F1 have dropped them.

Former F1 TV presenter

Beverley Turner is pleased.

The idea of grid girls is outdated.

Women shouldn't be judged

by what they look like,

but what they do and say.

The problem with grid girls

is that they do and say nothing,

they're only there to look good.

In F1 we have no female drivers

but that could now change

if the sport tries to value women

for skill and talent

rather what they look like.

Carolyn was a grid girl and she has

a different opinion.

If you take grid girls

away from the job, F1

will still have to fill that role.

They're still going to have

someone on the driver's

slot to mark the grid

out for the drivers to come up to,

still need people for

the VVIP guests to come

onto the pits and the track.

That job is still going

to have a role, why not have

one boy and one girl?

It's not just Formula 1.

Last week darts made

a similar decision

and there are calls from campaigners

for more sports to do the same.

magician Izzy Simpson and Henrik

Lund is here because he has designed

a new Blue Peter badge.

What does it

look like? We won't see it until

5:30pm.

I've been sworn to secrecy,

it's very difficult but we wanted to

design something that was different

to any other Blue Peter badges so

it's a different shape.

What does

the colour looks like? I need to

give Newsround and exclusive.

It's

got an element of sparkle, that's

it.

You need to

have a Blue Peter badge already, so

apply for that and then apply for

the diamond badge. There is a handy

Next, want to see the secret lives

of some super-cool wild animals?

Well, a new TV series called

Animals With Cameras

is about to reveal all.

Small cameras were used to give us

a critter's-eye view

into their lives -

including, for the first time,

wild baby meerkats.

Newborn meerkat pups only appear

from their burrows when

they are two to three weeks old.

Before that they are

hidden below ground.

It's a part of meerkat life that

scientists have always wanted

to learn more about.

These researchers carefully pop tiny

cameras onto these cute creatures

in Africa's Kalahari Desert.

Then they wait...

Until finally a meerkat gives birth.

Deep in the burrow

are five new arrivals.

These pups are less than a day old.

even though

their eyes are still closed,

the pups are already communicating.

THEY CHIRP.

In this maze of dark

tunnels, their chirps help

the adults find them.

It also helps the family build

a strong bond they will need

to survive above ground.
