Hi, guys!

0:00:110:00:12

Martin here with your Monday

Newsround, live on CBBC.

0:00:120:00:16

First up, loads of you have had

the day off today after the wintry

0:00:160:00:19

weather closed hundreds of schools,

and you've been going

0:00:190:00:23

snowman crazy!

0:00:230:00:24

Snow joke...

0:00:240:00:26

Watch this.

0:00:260:00:28

Let it snow, let it

snow, let it snow.

0:00:280:00:30

Christmas weather has well and truly

landed in the UK after heavy

0:00:300:00:33

snowfall in many places.

0:00:330:00:36

The snow started over the weekend

and has continued today,

0:00:360:00:38

as temperatures have plummeted.

0:00:380:00:42

But perhaps more importantly,

it's also meant a snow

0:00:420:00:44

day for loads of you.

0:00:440:00:46

Hundreds of schools

across the country have been closed

0:00:460:00:49

thanks to the weather,

and that's giving you time

0:00:490:00:51

to get out there and have

some fun in the snow.

0:00:510:00:55

You've been sending

us your snowy snaps.

0:00:550:00:58

Look at this giant -

Jack and Daniel built this huge

0:00:580:01:01

snowman with their dad

in the garden in Warwickshire.

0:01:010:01:05

And you're never too

old to play in the snow -

0:01:050:01:08

this is Lilia, who's seven,

and her grandad

0:01:080:01:10

Charles in Llandudno.

0:01:100:01:12

Ethan is six and from London.

0:01:120:01:14

He's made a snowman,

and if you look closely at tiny

0:01:140:01:16

little snow dog too.

0:01:160:01:19

And Dacha from Wolverhampton

is the snow Queen,

0:01:190:01:21

with this big snowy throne.

0:01:210:01:22

Good work!

0:01:220:01:24

And check out these two from Harlow.

0:01:240:01:26

Love the classic look!

0:01:260:01:28

What did one snowman

say to the other?

0:01:280:01:30

Can you smell carrots?

0:01:300:01:31

Great effort, guys!

0:01:310:01:33

The cold weather is set to continue

so keep those pics coming in.

0:01:330:01:39

A record five English teams

are into knockout stages

0:01:390:01:42

of the Champion's League.

0:01:420:01:44

So who did they get

in the draw earlier today?

0:01:440:01:46

Watch this.

0:01:460:01:50

Two clubs face Spanish sides -

Chelsea will be up against Barcelona

0:01:500:01:53

and Manchester United

will test their skills

0:01:530:01:55

against Sevilla.

0:01:550:01:57

United's arch rivals

Manchester City will play

0:01:570:02:00

Switzerland's Basel.

0:02:000:02:03

Liverpool will go head-to-head

with Portugal's Porto,

0:02:030:02:06

and last but not least

Tottenham Hotspurs are up

0:02:060:02:09

against Italian side Juventus.

0:02:090:02:12

Now the big question is how

many of these English teams

0:02:120:02:14

will make it to the next round?

0:02:140:02:20

This Christmas, thousands of kids

in the UK are caring for relatives

0:02:200:02:23

who are ill or can't

look after themselves.

0:02:230:02:25

We went to meet Abi

to find out how she and her mum

0:02:250:02:28

will be spending the holidays.

0:02:280:02:32

If I could have a wish,

like one wish, it would be

0:02:320:02:35

make my mum's MS go.

0:02:350:02:37

For Abi and her mum,

Christmas is their favourite time

0:02:370:02:43

of year, but unlike most

11-year-olds, Abi can't just chill

0:02:430:02:45

out over the holidays.

0:02:450:02:46

Her mum has a disease called MS.

0:02:460:02:50

That sometimes stops her doing

things that she wants like running,

0:02:500:02:53

walking and doing simple activities

like bending as well.

0:02:530:03:03

That means Abi has to help her

mum do certain things,

0:03:040:03:06

even on Christmas Day.

0:03:060:03:09

When I wake up, I help her put

some socks on and shoes.

0:03:090:03:17

I come down but I don't open

presents, I make breakfast instead!

0:03:170:03:23

It's not like you normally spend

Christmas with a mum

0:03:230:03:25

that's got MS but you...

0:03:250:03:31

It's kind of like, you feel

like you want to do more,

0:03:310:03:34

especially when it's

a more special time.

0:03:340:03:39

Like, you want to help more

and you want to just

0:03:390:03:41

kind of be there more.

0:03:410:03:43

So, being a carer for your mum,

does that mean sometimes you miss

0:03:430:03:46

out on doing things that

people your age would normally do?

0:03:460:03:48

Well, most young kids

could go to the park or play

0:03:480:03:51

with their friends but if my mum

is ill or if I need to stay in,

0:03:510:03:55

I kind of don't have

that opportunity often.

0:03:550:04:02

But Abi will go off and do

all of those brilliant things,

0:04:020:04:05

but in her head she is always

thinking, "Where's Mum?"

0:04:050:04:07

"Who's with Mum?"

0:04:070:04:10

It can be really tough caring

for a relative but luckily Abi gets

0:04:100:04:13

lots of support from her school,

and at a special group

0:04:130:04:16

run by a charity.

0:04:160:04:21

The help I get is kind of, say that

just because you are a young carer,

0:04:210:04:25

doesn't mean you're different

to everyone else.

0:04:250:04:27

Every bit of being a young carer

is amazing because you could go out

0:04:270:04:30

with Barnardo's or

Barnardo's would help you.

0:04:300:04:35

And it's kind of you

are not alone with this.

0:04:350:04:38

You have people that will help you.

0:04:380:04:40

What does it mean to you to be

a carer for your mum?

0:04:400:04:43

It's kind of like cheese and

crackers or strawberries and cream.

0:04:430:04:46

Like we stick together

for everything.

0:04:460:04:52

That's it from me.

0:04:520:04:56

Newsround is back

tomorrow at 7.40am.
