Storms in the UK, and recently the UK and Irish weather service | :00:59. | :01:01.
You might see your name pop up, but we had our first one, Abigail, | :01:02. | :01:07.
which moved towards Scotland on Thursday night and this morning and | :01:08. | :01:11.
you can see right at the top there, in Scotland, some very strong winds | :01:12. | :01:15.
expected across northern and western areas | :01:16. | :01:19.
and there could be some problems first thing on Friday morning. | :01:20. | :01:24.
For all of us, quite windy day on Friday, | :01:25. | :01:26.
but the strong winds will continue in the far north of Scotland on | :01:27. | :01:29.
There is mountain snow on Friday and it will feel pretty cold as well. | :01:30. | :01:39.
People in Western Scotland were told to prepare for the storm yesterday | :01:40. | :01:42.
and one person who has been doing just that is Hannah from Stornaway, | :01:43. | :01:45.
I am just preparing for storm Abigail about to hit our island, you | :01:46. | :01:58.
have just put away our rabbit safely in his hutch and given him food and | :01:59. | :02:03.
water, put away the plant pots and parked the car safely away from the | :02:04. | :02:06.
house. I am really excited because there is no school model because of | :02:07. | :02:08.
the storm. In other news now, | :02:09. | :02:10.
a six metre long sinkhole has People who live nearby say they | :02:11. | :02:12.
heard a rumbling sound before No one was hurt | :02:13. | :02:16.
and the people investigating think that it may have been caused | :02:17. | :02:20.
by an old mine shaft collapsing. Not only is it Friday today | :02:21. | :02:29.
but it's also the BBC's big Children The show has been presented by | :02:30. | :02:32.
Sir Terry Wogan since it started in 1980, 35 years ago, | :02:33. | :02:36.
but for the first time he won't be He's had to pull out because of back | :02:37. | :02:39.
problems but says he will be watching from home and "cheering and | :02:40. | :02:43.
donating to a magnificent cause" It's not all bad news thought | :02:44. | :02:46.
as there will still be lots going They'll be lots of pudsey action, | :02:47. | :02:49.
exclusive performances and Radio 1 Host Scott Mills will | :02:50. | :02:52.

a special Children In Need Strictly All the action kicks off from 7pm | :02:55. | :02:58.
on BBC One. So we asked some of you how some | :02:59. | :03:02.
of you will be marking the day. It is like a time for us to give | :03:03. | :03:13.
money for the children that don't have all of the good things that we | :03:14. | :03:18.
do. Getting to help people by dressing up and donating money. It | :03:19. | :03:22.
is an important day because it is basically like remembrance because, | :03:23. | :03:27.
like, all of those people around the world not have the opportunity that | :03:28. | :03:31.
we do to have an education and go to school. | :03:32. | :03:32.
Next to the country of Indonesia in south-east Asia, where forest | :03:33. | :03:35.
As well as the damage to the environment and the effects | :03:36. | :03:39.
on people's health, the fires are also threatening rare wildlife. | :03:40. | :03:47.
This is no ordinary fire, rate areas of Indonesia are burning. It is | :03:48. | :03:54.
causing big problems for people and animals. Many apes have been forced | :03:55. | :04:00.
to flee their forest homes and often heads to villagers in search of food | :04:01. | :04:04.
but many locals see them as pests. This can lead to an increase on | :04:05. | :04:08.
attacks on the animals. This rare Borneo orangutan and her baby were | :04:09. | :04:13.
treated by an animal rescue team after trying to escape the | :04:14. | :04:17.
wildfires. The two apes were eventually released back into the | :04:18. | :04:22.
wild safely. The haze caused by the fires has been poisoning the air | :04:23. | :04:24.
across much of south-east Asia for weeks now. More than 100,000 people | :04:25. | :04:30.
in Indonesia are said to be suffering from breathing problems. | :04:31. | :04:36.
Fires happen every year in Indonesia but unusually dry weather has made | :04:37. | :04:40.
this year 's even worse than normal. A team of firefighters in one part | :04:41. | :04:44.
of the country are now being helped by elephants trained to carry hoses | :04:45. | :04:51.
and water pumps. TRANSLATION: We are now using elephants, trained to | :04:52. | :04:54.
patrol in the jungle in order to put out forest fires early. And stop | :04:55. | :05:02.
them from burning. Many of the forest fires are started illegally | :05:03. | :05:06.
to clear land to grow new clients, most are set ablaze on peat land | :05:07. | :05:09.
which burns for a longer and produces more smoke than other | :05:10. | :05:14.
fires. With rain expected here soon the fires could be put out in the | :05:15. | :05:16.
next month. And if you want to know anymore | :05:17. | :05:18.
