Hi everyone, I'm Ricky and this is Newsround.

First, to a very serious fire that broke out in a tower block

It happened at the Grenfell Tower in North Kensington in West London.

I'm actually in a community centre where there is loads of activity

going on behind me. I will tell you about that in a little bit.

Engineers are currently checking the building but here is what we now

happened. The fire started just before 1.00am in the morning.

Emergency services arrived at the scene within six minutes, with 40

fire engines and is 200 firefighters coming to help get people out safely

and get the fire under control. The London Fire Brigade said they were

able to rescue lots of people but sadly some have died and more than

70 people have been taken to hospital. We are still working very

hard. We rescued large numbers of people from inside the building very

early on across a range of different floors. We have fire crews

continuing to work very hard in there at the moment and we are

making steady progress going through the whole building. When fires

started flats like these, they don't usually spread between floors.

Police are investigating how this fire happened to make sure that it

doesn't happen again. People living nearby flats have been doing what

they can to help. Emergency centres have opened for those who cannot go

home, with people bringing food, drink, clothes and toiletries, and

donating money for those who have lost everything. Supplies have also

been donated to police and fire crews who worked through the night.

The member of Parliament for Kensington said that every single

person affected will be looked after. As soon as I came to this

community centre, they were actually turning people away. There were too

many donations. A lot of people with loads of bags, food and blankets. If

you can see, there are shoes on the ground, and there are people around.

There are loads of people with boxes and they are all trying to help

their community. One age old I spoke to, she lives around the corner, and

she told me how she was helping. I have got some fruit and food, and I

went to the church and I started giving out some free food, for the

homeless people. That was Lina and she was telling me that she brought

her old hijabs to give to Muslim girls who might have been in that

building so they had something to cover their heads. That is what she

was doing to help. One more bit of information to give you, the chief

fire officer said that this is unprecedented, which means that

nothing like this has happened before. Investigations are ongoing

at the moment and the homeless are being looked after. So those in that

building, they are being looked after at the moment. Remember, if

silence at a friendly football match.

Pelicans are rejoicing - to be set free - as they've been

helped back to health in California, America.

Hundreds of pelicans have been seriously poorly due

to a poisonous algae that has been growing far too rapidly

While small amounts of this algae are fine,

the pelicans have big appetites and too much of the green

stuff makes them so ill they can't swim or fly.

So wildlife reserves like this one are nursing them back to health

and then setting them free when their tummies are better.

It's the best part of my job, releasing pelicans. You see them in

the pool, and they look like they are doing OK but once you bring them

out here you see how happy they are to be out and back in the wilds, and

the best thing is when they jump out of the crate so fast that they kick
