Hi there, I'm Whitney,
and these are your latest Newsround | 0:00:13 | 0:00:15
stories on Thursday morning. | 0:00:15 | 0:00:20
What do you think should be done
about bullying online? | 0:00:20 | 0:00:23
Later today, Prince William
is going to announce a new code | 0:00:23 | 0:00:28
for 11 to 16-year-olds - that's
advice on how to behave online. | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
We took some ideas from the code
to a school to see what you think. | 0:00:31 | 0:00:35
What worries you about being online? | 0:00:35 | 0:00:38
It just worries me that older
people think they can take | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
advantage of young people. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:46
That you don't know if someone
is being the real them. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
How different people can
hack into your accounts. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:51
If you see something negative,
if it is about you, it | 0:00:51 | 0:00:53
will maybe hurt your feelings. | 0:00:53 | 0:00:55
Cyber-bullying is an issue because
anyone can be bullied online. | 0:00:55 | 0:00:58
Almost one in five young people say
that they have been bullied online. | 0:00:58 | 0:01:01
So, who should make things better? | 0:01:01 | 0:01:05
I think the sites should make it
a bit more stricter. | 0:01:05 | 0:01:10
Parents should always look
through what you do. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:12
I think that the social media
websites are responsible | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
because I think they can tell
if you are under 13 or over 13. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:18
I think it is your parents'
and your own responsibility, | 0:01:18 | 0:01:20
because when you decide to make
a social media account, | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
you have to be aware
of the things could happen. | 0:01:22 | 0:01:27
Loads of people talk about this
issue, but things don't seem | 0:01:27 | 0:01:30
to be getting better. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:32
So what would you do about it? | 0:01:32 | 0:01:37
I think the sites should be stricter
and should be more careful to check | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
what people put online. | 0:01:40 | 0:01:41
More security, more monitors. | 0:01:41 | 0:01:44
There should be more report signs. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:48
Social media sites should make
all accounts private. | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
If you put your age in,
you have to get a parent | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
to put it in for you. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:55
Make a tutorial at
the beginning to say | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
where all the report buttons are. | 0:01:57 | 0:02:02
I think parents should be more aware
of cyber-bullying and should know | 0:02:02 | 0:02:05
what their kids are looking
at and what they are on. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:08
Today, Prince William is revealing
a new list of rules for 11 | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
to 16-year-olds about social media. | 0:02:10 | 0:02:16
His charity, The Royal Foundation,
has worked with social | 0:02:16 | 0:02:21
media, tech companies
and anti-bullying charities. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
They say stop, take a step back. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
Try and see what is going on. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
Check the guidelines
of the site you are on. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:29
Speak. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:30
Ask an adult or friend
you trust for their advice. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:35
Report bad behaviour and speak
to charities that help with issues | 0:02:35 | 0:02:38
like cyber-bullying. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:39
Support. | 0:02:39 | 0:02:42
Help the person being bullied. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:45
Get them to speak to
someone they trust. | 0:02:45 | 0:02:47
So will something like this work? | 0:02:47 | 0:02:52
With it being Prince William,
I think it is going to get | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
a lot more attention. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:57
Some children, if they are getting
bullied online, they don't know | 0:02:57 | 0:03:00
what to do and get really nervous
and they are unsure. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
So I think it is really good
because it is an instruction | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
as to what to do. | 0:03:05 | 0:03:06
I don't think it will work
because a lot of people like to know | 0:03:06 | 0:03:10
what they want to do and don't
like people telling them what to do. | 0:03:10 | 0:03:14
In my opinion, I don't think this
will work because bullies are just | 0:03:14 | 0:03:17
going to be bullies. | 0:03:17 | 0:03:18
I think it is helpful to have a list
online because it is made who know | 0:03:18 | 0:03:22
what they're talking about. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:30
Really good to hear your views. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:31
Now to the country of Zimbabwe
in southern Africa. | 0:03:31 | 0:03:33
Here's Hayley to tell you what's
going on there and why it matters. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
This is Robert Mugabe, and, yes,
he is wearing a suit | 0:03:36 | 0:03:39
with a picture of himself on. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:40
He has been the leader
of the country of Zimbabwe | 0:03:40 | 0:03:43
in Africa for 37 years. | 0:03:43 | 0:03:44
To his supporters, he is a hero
who won freedom for his country. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
To others, he is a man
who will not allow anyone | 0:03:47 | 0:03:50
to criticise him and uses violence
to get his own way. | 0:03:50 | 0:03:53
But now he's in trouble. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
The army in Zimbabwe has taken over
running the country from him. | 0:03:56 | 0:04:01
All this matters because Mugabe has
been in power for so long. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
Under his rule, there have
been lots of problems. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:07
And as a result, life is very
difficult for many people. | 0:04:07 | 0:04:10
Including children. | 0:04:10 | 0:04:11
What happens next will be important
in deciding the future of Zimbabwe. | 0:04:11 | 0:04:19
Thanks, Hayley. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:21
And if you want to find out more
on what's happening in Zimbabwe, | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
head to our online guides. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:25
They are really helpful and should
make it easier to understand | 0:04:25 | 0:04:28
what's going on there. | 0:04:28 | 0:04:32
Next you won't think we're
SHELLfish for showing | 0:04:32 | 0:04:34
you this next story. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:35
See what I did there? | 0:04:35 | 0:04:37
Check out these crabs swarming
over a beach in Cuba. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:39
They come each spring
and travel for days | 0:04:39 | 0:04:41
from forests down to the sea. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:42
Once the crabs reach the sea,
they lay lots of eggs in the waves. | 0:04:42 | 0:04:46
The baby crabs hatch
out at sea, then come | 0:04:46 | 0:04:48
and join their parents
in the forest. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:52
Imagine being part of their crew! | 0:04:52 | 0:04:55
It looks so cool. | 0:04:55 | 0:04:58
Well, if you thought that
stop was CRAB-tivating - | 0:04:58 | 0:05:00
I'm full of it this morning -
then take a look at this | 0:05:00 | 0:05:03
and see if you can tell me
what these black dots are. | 0:05:03 | 0:05:07
It is a bit hard to figure out. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:08
Any guesses? | 0:05:08 | 0:05:09
Well, I can tell you it's snails. | 0:05:09 | 0:05:12
Millions of them have invaded this
beach in Florida in America. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:17
No-one knows exactly why but some
believe they've left the water | 0:05:17 | 0:05:20
to find food that has been washed up
by the recent hurricanes. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:23
Or maybe they just
fancied a holiday? | 0:05:23 | 0:05:24
I hope they didn't leave
the locals fealing sluggish! | 0:05:24 | 0:05:30
Love it, love it! | 0:05:30 | 0:05:31
Just enough time to tell
you to head to Newsround online | 0:05:31 | 0:05:34
if you want to know who's
going into the jungle this year | 0:05:34 | 0:05:37
for I'm A Celebrity... | 0:05:37 | 0:05:38
I am very excited about that. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:39
Plus, we have some amazing pictures
of Iceland filmed by a drone. | 0:05:39 | 0:05:42
Really cool! | 0:05:42 | 0:05:45
Plus, of course, you can do our quiz
of the week online. This week it is | 0:05:45 | 0:05:49
a really good one. | 0:05:49 | 0:05:50
Thanks for watching. | 0:05:50 | 0:05:51
Have a great day at school. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:52
