Hi, I'm Martin, with your bank holiday Monday Newsround.

First, up to 2,000 people have had to be rescued from floodwaters

in and around the US city of Houston, as a huge storm

Nearly three days after hurricane hardly slammed into the state of

Texas, Houston is still struggling to cope with the damage. Rescuers in

boats, helicopters and lorries have been taking people to safety. The

area has its received one-year's worth of rain in just one week. If

you are there and those a need we will get to you. I would simply ask

that you remain and patient. But we will get to you. Anyone with the

boat, large or small, has been urged to help, but the flooded city

streets of the vehicle to get to. The water is moving quickly and in

these conditions making the wrong turning can quickly become a matter

of life and death. We prayed a lot and we praised God and they were

rescued so we are very thankful. You get the sense of just how quickly

the situation is unfolding. The flooding clearly caught these

drivers by surprise and still the rain is coming down with no sign of

stopping. The fourth-largest city in the United States has ground to a

halt. Five people were reported to have died. Many schools are caused

as well as the two airports. Soldiers have been called in to

help. The American president plans to visit on Tuesday.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar won six prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards

in the Los Angeles in the US last night.

He won best video of the year for Humble,

Ed Sheeran won the artist of the year prize and the show

was hosted by Katy Perry, who wrapped up the evening

by performing her hit single Swish Swish with Nicki Minaj.

There's a huge street party happening in London.

And as usual Ayshah's in the middle of it.

Start the music, bring on the costumes and the food,

because it's Europe's biggest street party.

It's a festival that takes place every year in this area of London

and it's been happening since way back in the 1960s.

It started as a way for people from the Caribbean

community to get together and celebrate their culture.

A minute's silence is taking place on both days to remember the victims

That's because the carnival is held in the same area.

On Sunday, after the silence, the crowd started clapping

I've come here to see this float being put together.

Kids who go to school around Grenfell have drawn

It's rather creative and I think it's a good idea that

I think it's kind of a time where everyone can show their emotions

through drawings and just dance and be themselves.

So it's time for Carnival 2017 and I joined in with these guys

They do this every year and every year makes it more exciting.

Lots of people dancing and stuff, having the time of their lives.

It's a raptor and we're both raptors.

My favourite thing about Carnival is dressing up.

We like the dancing and the costumes and the parade.
