Morning, guys, Ricky here with your Wednesday Newsround. | :00:13. | :00:14.
It was the start of the new series last night and the first time | :00:15. | :00:19.
the show has been on Channel 4 rather than the BBC. | :00:20. | :00:22.
So did it rise to the challenge or did it fall a bit flat? | :00:23. | :00:25.
Looks are deceiving, aren't they? My hands are shaking so much. OK, | :00:26. | :00:47.
bakers, your time is up. I really liked the first episode because it | :00:48. | :00:51.
has loads of creative ideas in it and I loved the new people. I liked | :00:52. | :00:57.
Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood and I am glad that Paul Hollywood stayed | :00:58. | :01:04.
but I still miss Mary Berry. I thought the first episode was better | :01:05. | :01:07.
than the old episodes. They made better cakes and the funny bit was | :01:08. | :01:13.
when one of the bakers forgot to put the oven on and put their cake and | :01:14. | :01:20.
so it would not be. I liked this CD is better because Mary Berry is not | :01:21. | :01:24.
in it and I don't like Mary Berry. The new judges are different because | :01:25. | :01:29.
they are softer. Mayberry Cox a lot more and get what advice, the person | :01:30. | :01:36.
I was impressed by was the old lady and their in the last challenge, she | :01:37. | :01:39.
made it what Mel and that looked perfect. I really enjoyed watching | :01:40. | :01:48.
the first episode of Bake Off and I will definitely keep watching to see | :01:49. | :01:53.
what happens next. I did not think it was that much different, the only | :01:54. | :01:57.
thing different to it was the presenters and the judges. It was a | :01:58. | :02:04.
very good episode and I liked the actual bakers. I will carry on with | :02:05. | :02:11.
bake off but I want to do as much as I used it I don't think. You only | :02:12. | :02:20.
have five minutes left. I miss Mel and Sue! | :02:21. | :02:21.
And we want to know what you think of the new Bake off, | :02:22. | :02:24.
is it better worse or just the same - go online to have your say now. | :02:25. | :02:28.
Next up, President Trump has arrived in Texas to praise the way | :02:29. | :02:31.
the rescue services are helping people affected by floods there. | :02:32. | :02:33.
Since Storm Harvey hit the big city of Houston they've had | :02:34. | :02:36.
twice as much rain as falls in London in a whole year! | :02:37. | :02:43.
Rescuers in boats and helicopters have been bringing thousands | :02:44. | :02:45.
of people to safety but loads of roads, hospitals, and schools | :02:46. | :02:48.
An epic and historic, these are words to use to describe this | :02:49. | :03:01.
monster known as Harvey but the job you have done is special and I say | :03:02. | :03:05.
lets fly over and CDs great people in the near centre, we appreciate it | :03:06. | :03:11.
very much. Billions of people appreciate it, but the world is | :03:12. | :03:14.
watching as the world is very impressed with what doing. | :03:15. | :03:15.
The tallest bridge in the UK has opened to traffic | :03:16. | :03:18.
Cars and lorries honked their horns as they drove | :03:19. | :03:21.
onto the Queensferry bridge near Edinburgh. | :03:22. | :03:23.
It's part of a series of tests though, as the bridge won't be | :03:24. | :03:26.
officially opened by the Queen until Monday. | :03:27. | :03:32.
All summer, people have been taking part in Pride festivals, | :03:33. | :03:34.
which celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and | :03:35. | :03:36.
It's 50 years since it was made legal for men to be gay | :03:37. | :03:40.
in England and Wales, and attitudes then | :03:41. | :03:42.
Newsround viewer Megan went to one of Britain's biggest Pride | :03:43. | :03:45.
I have come up to Manchester for the very first time this weekend to | :03:46. | :04:01.
visit Pride Festival. Although most people are here to celebrate and | :04:02. | :04:06.
have a great time I have come from different reason. My uncle Andrew | :04:07. | :04:10.
took part one of the very first Pride rallies and I want to find out | :04:11. | :04:14.
what his life was like back then. What was it like for you back then | :04:15. | :04:20.
when you first came out? It was in one way very lonely, because I only | :04:21. | :04:25.
knew one person who was gay and I was already 25. People hid | :04:26. | :04:32.
themselves, you did not know. How did you feel coming out in society | :04:33. | :04:37.
when it was not legalised? Most of us who wanted to read or many lives | :04:38. | :04:42.
were aware that we might end up in prison. Over a thousand of us per | :04:43. | :04:47.
year were being sent to prison. Did anyone see anything nasty to you? I | :04:48. | :04:54.
was refused a job once. When they found out. They did not find out, I | :04:55. | :04:59.
told them I was gay. And one existing member of the staff said I | :05:00. | :05:02.
will not work in the same office as somebody who is gay. And they | :05:03. | :05:07.
withdrew the offer of a job. Have people's attitudes towards being gay | :05:08. | :05:15.
in the LGBT community changed? Yes, they have, it depends where you are. | :05:16. | :05:20.
They have not changed if you are in many countries around the world but | :05:21. | :05:24.
they have changed, Britain has done very well. What advice would you | :05:25. | :05:31.
give to people coming out now? I would say there is a warm and | :05:32. | :05:37.
welcoming world out here for you as you come out. I had never really had | :05:38. | :05:44.
my uncle talk about his life before, it was really lovely for me to get | :05:45. | :05:48.
to know all of his experiences and what he has been through. I am so | :05:49. | :05:53.
proud of everything he has done. Thank you. You can find out more | :05:54. | :06:00.
about the history of gay rights over on newsround online. That's all from | :06:01. | :06:03.
