# Those lovely Rockpool Tales. #

0:01:060:01:09

Oh, hello.

0:01:130:01:14

I'm just dusting off the old record player

0:01:140:01:17

so that Salty and I can have a bit of a singsong.

0:01:170:01:21

It's lovely, isn't it? Eh?

0:01:210:01:23

It is a bit crackly, but, anyway...

0:01:230:01:26

here we go.

0:01:260:01:27

MUSIC PLAYS

0:01:300:01:32

Yeah, go on, Salty, you sing along if you want.

0:01:320:01:35

Do you know what?

0:01:360:01:38

This reminds me of a time, years ago,

0:01:400:01:43

when we had this record player on the beach.

0:01:430:01:47

Yes.

0:01:470:01:48

It all happened when I was a boy,

0:01:480:01:51

in a twinkly time, long, long ago.

0:01:510:01:54

I used to run down to the beach as often as I could,

0:01:570:02:00

meeting up with my best friends, Little Ernie

0:02:000:02:03

and Little Sailor Sue.

0:02:030:02:06

# I'm looking on the bright side... #

0:02:120:02:15

You're going to do left foot forward, right foot...

0:02:150:02:18

One day, Little Ernie was trying to teach Little Sailor Sue

0:02:180:02:22

and me a dance routine.

0:02:220:02:24

Sue picked up the steps quite quickly, but I kept getting muddled.

0:02:240:02:28

I don't get it.

0:02:280:02:30

It's easy - look.

0:02:300:02:31

I tried and tried, but my feet didn't seem to do

0:02:310:02:34

what I wanted them to.

0:02:340:02:36

So I suggested that we play by the rockpools instead.

0:02:360:02:41

So off we ran and, as we settled down and gazed deep

0:02:410:02:44

into the glittery waters,

0:02:440:02:46

a magical world appeared before our eyes.

0:02:460:02:49

On this particular day in the rockpool,

0:02:580:03:01

everyone was very excited because there was going to be a dance party.

0:03:010:03:06

And you can't have a dance party without music.

0:03:060:03:09

So Sheena the Shrimp had set up her musical rock.

0:03:090:03:13

Andrew the Anemone was jigging about in the seaweed,

0:03:140:03:18

practising his moves.

0:03:180:03:20

"I'm very excited about the dance. Are you?"

0:03:200:03:24

he asked his friend, Sally the Starfish.

0:03:240:03:27

But before Sally could answer

0:03:270:03:29

they had a bit of a shock because

0:03:290:03:31

out of the thick, seaweedy fronds

0:03:310:03:34

floated an extremely enchanting creature.

0:03:340:03:38

"Hello. I'm Luna, and I am a jellyfish,"

0:03:400:03:45

she said in a silky voice.

0:03:450:03:48

SALTY WHINES

0:03:480:03:49

Yes. It's all right, Salty.

0:03:490:03:51

Don't worry.

0:03:510:03:52

Yes, I'll explain.

0:03:520:03:55

Salty wants you to know that jellyfish are beautiful creatures,

0:03:550:04:01

but they can sometimes sting.

0:04:010:04:04

So if you meet one on your seashore adventures,

0:04:040:04:07

it is best not to touch it.

0:04:070:04:09

Right? Yeah.

0:04:090:04:11

"Jellyfish?" cried Sheena. "Don't they sting?"

0:04:110:04:15

And, lickety-split quick, they all hid.

0:04:150:04:18

"Come back, everybody.

0:04:180:04:20

"I promise I won't sting you," said Luna.

0:04:200:04:25

So they crept back out.

0:04:250:04:26

A little shy at first, but very keen

0:04:260:04:29

to meet this interesting visitor.

0:04:290:04:32

Luna the Jellyfish looked like

0:04:320:04:35

a magical, floaty umbrella.

0:04:350:04:38

"Hello, there. Nice to meet you.

0:04:380:04:42

"I must have been washed into your rockpool on the last tide.

0:04:420:04:46

"I'll have to wait here until the next tide comes in.

0:04:460:04:49

"I hope you don't mind."

0:04:490:04:51

"Oh, no, we don't mind," said Belinda the Blenny.

0:04:520:04:56

"We are going to have a dance party.

0:04:560:04:59

"You can join us if you like," said Sheena.

0:04:590:05:02

"I'd love to," said Luna,

0:05:020:05:05

gliding this way and that.

0:05:050:05:07

"I am a dance teacher, you know.

0:05:070:05:10

"My style is very modern and free.

0:05:100:05:13

"I like to feel the pulse and the flow,

0:05:130:05:17

"everywhere I go."

0:05:170:05:19

"You're a lovely mover," said Bertrum the Butterfish.

0:05:200:05:24

"Can you teach us to dance the way you do?"

0:05:240:05:27

"There's no need to dance my way," said Luna.

0:05:270:05:30

"We all have our own way of dancing,

0:05:300:05:33

"and that's just as it should be.

0:05:330:05:36

"I'll show you what I mean."

0:05:360:05:39

Well, the friends spread out on the rockpool's sandy floor.

0:05:400:05:45

Buster the Crab made sure

0:05:450:05:47

he had enough room to wave his claws about.

0:05:470:05:51

"Now, relax, everybody.

0:05:520:05:54

"Loosen up.

0:05:540:05:55

"Feel the energy flow all around you," said Luna.

0:05:550:06:00

"Stretch out those arms

0:06:010:06:03

"and be the star that you are,"

0:06:030:06:05

she told Sally the Starfish.

0:06:050:06:08

"Wiggle your nose and wiggle your tail,

0:06:080:06:11

"And wiggle in the middle," she told Belinda.

0:06:110:06:15

"I like to sway," said Bertrum, grinning.

0:06:150:06:18

"Sway, sway, if that's your way," Luna told him.

0:06:200:06:25

And, then, she floated over to Sidney the Snail,

0:06:250:06:28

who was finding it a bit tricky

0:06:280:06:31

to move beneath his shell.

0:06:310:06:33

"Pretend your shell's as light as a feather," she told him.

0:06:340:06:39

Well, Sidney relaxed.

0:06:390:06:42

And suddenly, his shell,

0:06:420:06:44

it was spinning with ease!

0:06:440:06:47

"Wowee! Look at me," he giggled.

0:06:470:06:50

Soon, all of the creatures

0:06:520:06:54

were having fun dancing.

0:06:540:06:56

"You may all rest now," said Luna.

0:06:590:07:03

"Thank you," said Belinda.

0:07:040:07:06

"Oh, I loved that."

0:07:060:07:08

And all the other rockpoolers agreed.

0:07:080:07:12

"It's nearly time for our dance party," said Sheena.

0:07:120:07:15

"Come with me, Luna, and I'll find you something

0:07:150:07:18

"sparkly and shiny to wear."

0:07:180:07:20

Well, all the creatures were ready for the dance,

0:07:200:07:24

looking very shiny and sparkly in their party outfits.

0:07:240:07:28

Andrew was wearing his best sparkly glasses, and a tie to match.

0:07:280:07:34

They had all dressed up - all except Luna, that is.

0:07:340:07:38

"Didn't you want to wear something shiny, Luna?" Belinda asked.

0:07:380:07:43

"Oh, there is no need.

0:07:430:07:44

"I can make myself shiny later," she replied, grinning.

0:07:440:07:49

"Right. Right, it's time to start," said Sheena, eagerly.

0:07:490:07:53

"I'll get the music going."

0:07:530:07:55

Some boppy, hobby, shake it, shake it dance music

0:07:550:07:59

came bursting out of the musical rock.

0:07:590:08:02

"Let's dance!" she cried.

0:08:020:08:04

And you never did see

0:08:050:08:07

such a mixture of moving tentacles,

0:08:070:08:11

fins, tails and shells.

0:08:110:08:13

"This is almost perfect!" cried Sheena.

0:08:130:08:16

"I just wish we had some pretty party lights."

0:08:160:08:20

"I can help," said Luna,

0:08:200:08:22

drifting and wafting about in her elegant way.

0:08:220:08:27

And then, something amazing happened.

0:08:270:08:31

she suddenly started to glow

0:08:310:08:34

like a fabulous, floating moon.

0:08:340:08:38

And she lit up everything around her.

0:08:380:08:41

"I am bioluminescent, you know," she said.

0:08:410:08:46

Now, bioluminescent, it's a big word,

0:08:460:08:50

but it just means that she can light up and glow.

0:08:500:08:55

"See?" said Luna.

0:08:550:08:57

"I am very useful to have around

0:08:570:09:00

"when you need party lights."

0:09:000:09:02

Ha! And everyone laughed.

0:09:020:09:05

The rockpoolers loved the way

0:09:050:09:07

that Luna could glow.

0:09:070:09:09

"I like to pulse, I like to flow,

0:09:090:09:13

"but most of all, I like to glow,"

0:09:130:09:16

said Luna over the dance music.

0:09:160:09:19

And the rockpool creatures danced and danced together

0:09:190:09:24

in their shiny outfits

0:09:240:09:26

with their elegant friend.

0:09:260:09:28

One more time!

0:09:280:09:29

When we looked up from the rockpool,

0:09:300:09:33

Ernie started to do his fancy soft-shoe shuffle again.

0:09:330:09:38

Sue whispered to me...

0:09:400:09:41

Don't worry, Jack. You don't have to do Ernie's dance routine.

0:09:410:09:45

You can just do your own - that's far better.

0:09:450:09:48

Yeah, and I liked that idea.

0:09:480:09:50

And before long, we were all dancing freestyle...

0:09:500:09:53

Hoo-hoo!

0:09:530:09:55

I'm like a jellyfish.

0:09:550:09:56

..until the tide started to come in and cover the rockpool,

0:09:560:10:01

like a great seaweedy blanket.

0:10:010:10:04

Come on, Salty. It's time to sing again, freestyle.

0:10:080:10:12

I'll hum, and you bark.

0:10:120:10:14

Ready? Here we go.

0:10:140:10:16

You got it?

0:10:210:10:22

# Somewhere

0:10:230:10:26

# beyond the sea

0:10:260:10:28

# Somewhere waiting for me... #

0:10:280:10:31

Come on, wave your paws about.

0:10:310:10:33

So come and join us

0:10:340:10:36

for some more Rockpool Tales next time.

0:10:360:10:39

Goodbye.

0:10:390:10:41

# And never again I'll go sailing

0:10:410:10:43

# No more sailing

0:10:460:10:48

# So long, sailing

0:10:500:10:52

# Bye-bye, sailing... #
