There you go. I hope that holds. I'm not very good with table legs. | 0:01:38 | 0:01:42
-Oh, thanks, Sam. I'm sure you've done a brilliant... -Job! I hope so. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:46
-I'll be off then. See you later! -Bye, Sam! | 0:01:46 | 0:01:50
-Hello, Sam. -Morning, Jack. Can't stop. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:53
-HE CHUCKLES -Hello, Shelly, my angel. | 0:01:53 | 0:01:56
Hello, Jack. I didn't see you there. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:58
Or you, Salty. Hello, my lovely girl. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:01
What's all this? A new display for the cafe? | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
Yes, it is. I've asked everybody | 0:02:04 | 0:02:07
for an unusual flowerpot to put my flowers in. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:09
-Ernie got me this beautiful shell. -Oh! A shell for Shelly. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:13
-It's appropriate, isn't it. -Yes. Sam gave me this...paint tin. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:18
And Emily gave me this sandcastle bucket. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:21
-And what did Miss Bowline-Hitch come up with? -Ta-da! | 0:02:21 | 0:02:25
-SHE LAUGHS -What, a wellie? | 0:02:25 | 0:02:27
Yeah. I think this will make a most unusual flowerpot. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:31
-Oh, and Sam fixed my display table. -That's good. Lovely. -It's perfect. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:35
-Oh! -SALTY DOG WHINES | 0:02:35 | 0:02:38
-Oh, no! -Oh, dear! | 0:02:38 | 0:02:40
-Time to clear up. -Can I help? | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
Erm...yes. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:45
Yes, you can. You can find me an unusual flowerpot. Off you go! | 0:02:45 | 0:02:49
I was going to polish the potholes on The Rainbow. | 0:02:49 | 0:02:52
Still, I'll find you an unusual flowerpot. | 0:02:52 | 0:02:55
-Perfect, Jack. Bye! -Bye. | 0:02:55 | 0:02:57
She seemed a bit keen to get rid of us. I wonder why? | 0:02:57 | 0:03:01
I wonder why? | 0:03:01 | 0:03:03
Come on. Come on. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:05
-SHE LAUGHS -That's better. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:14
There she is! | 0:03:26 | 0:03:28
The Rainbow! | 0:03:28 | 0:03:29
What have you got for us today, my dear? | 0:03:29 | 0:03:32
HOOT! | 0:03:32 | 0:03:33 | |
HE LAUGHS | 0:03:33 | 0:03:35
-Come on, Salty. -HE HUMS | 0:03:35 | 0:03:37
Here we are. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:40
CREAKING | 0:03:42 | 0:03:44
HOOT! | 0:03:46 | 0:03:48 | |
Now then, before I start, Salty, I've got to find something unusual | 0:03:48 | 0:03:53
for Shelly to use as a flowerpot. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
You know, something more unusual than a Wellington boot. | 0:03:56 | 0:04:01
Just something unusual that will hold a flower. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:05
I don't know. Let's have a look. | 0:04:05 | 0:04:09
See what I've got... | 0:04:10 | 0:04:12
What have you...? Give it me. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:15
That's it. Good girl. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:17
Look at that old magician's top hat. | 0:04:17 | 0:04:19
You are the best dog on this boat, you are. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:22
Fantastic! Do you know, that brings back some memories, that does. | 0:04:22 | 0:04:27
Do you remember how we came by this hat? | 0:04:27 | 0:04:30
Once upon a twinkly time, | 0:04:30 | 0:04:33
The Rainbow set off from Staithes, waved goodbye to Whitby, | 0:04:33 | 0:04:37
and disappeared over the horizon. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:41
And as we sailed, we sang. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:43
# Just Salty Dog and me | 0:04:43 | 0:04:45
# Sailing the tropical sea | 0:04:45 | 0:04:48
# The colourful creatures create a great show | 0:04:48 | 0:04:51
# There's millions of fishes all swimming below | 0:04:51 | 0:04:54
# We'll have lots of fun in the hot sunny sun | 0:04:54 | 0:04:57
-# Just Salty Dog and me. # -HOOT! | 0:04:57 | 0:05:00
And then suddenly through my trusty telescope I saw something. | 0:05:00 | 0:05:06
It was a colourful top hat washed up on a rock. | 0:05:06 | 0:05:10
Before we could rescue it, a strange thing happened. | 0:05:10 | 0:05:14
Out of the water popped a pink periscope. | 0:05:14 | 0:05:18
It slid all the away along the side of The Rainbow and then stopped. | 0:05:18 | 0:05:22
Then to our astonishment a pink submarine surfaced. | 0:05:22 | 0:05:27
Salty was most impressed. | 0:05:27 | 0:05:29
The hatch opened and out popped | 0:05:31 | 0:05:33
a very glamorous lady in a smart business suit who said, | 0:05:33 | 0:05:37
"Hello. I'm Coral Reef from Top Homes." | 0:05:37 | 0:05:42
"Top Homes?" I said. "Yes, that's right," she replied. | 0:05:42 | 0:05:45
"I'm an estate agent. | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
"I help lots of sea creatures find homes to live in." | 0:05:47 | 0:05:51
Salty was very keen to find out what her job was like. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:55
And so Coral kindly invited us to come along for the ride. | 0:05:55 | 0:06:00
Well, we leapt into the pink submarine and...we whizzed off. | 0:06:00 | 0:06:04
As we travelled, Coral Reef explained | 0:06:04 | 0:06:07
that she was on the way to see Herman the Hermit Crab | 0:06:07 | 0:06:11
who lived far away. | 0:06:11 | 0:06:12
He was one of her trickiest customers. | 0:06:12 | 0:06:16
He never seemed happy with any home that she suggested. | 0:06:16 | 0:06:20
I had to explain to Salty that while most crabs | 0:06:20 | 0:06:23
have shells as part of their bodies hermit crabs don't, | 0:06:23 | 0:06:27
so they have to find other shells to live inside. | 0:06:27 | 0:06:31
Salty said she preferred her dog house at home. | 0:06:31 | 0:06:36
Anyway, finally we arrived at a very nice-looking winkle shell | 0:06:36 | 0:06:40
which looked perfect for a hermit crab to me. | 0:06:40 | 0:06:44
But beside it stood a very grumpy looking Herman | 0:06:44 | 0:06:48
waiting for Coral Reef to arrive. | 0:06:48 | 0:06:52
"No more winkle shells for me!" he said. | 0:06:52 | 0:06:55
"I want to move up in the world." | 0:06:55 | 0:06:57
"I want a bigger, more colourful home, | 0:06:57 | 0:07:00
"something to show off to my friends. Show me a top home, Coral." | 0:07:00 | 0:07:05
He certainly did seem full of himself. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:08
He didn't even say please. | 0:07:08 | 0:07:10
So Coral Reef took us | 0:07:10 | 0:07:12
to a rather lovely whelk shell that was a little bigger. | 0:07:12 | 0:07:17
She knocked politely... | 0:07:17 | 0:07:19
just to make sure that it wasn't already occupied. | 0:07:19 | 0:07:23
"You call this a top home?!" sneered Herman. | 0:07:23 | 0:07:26
"It's not right at all! A top crab like me | 0:07:26 | 0:07:29
"needs something bigger and more colourful than this kind of home!" | 0:07:29 | 0:07:33
"How could I possibly entertain all my friends in that?!" | 0:07:33 | 0:07:37
This hermit crab definitely had big, colourful ideas. | 0:07:37 | 0:07:43
Salty was keen to know what sort of colour he was looking for. | 0:07:43 | 0:07:48
"Red, yellow, orange, something eye-catching," he told her. | 0:07:48 | 0:07:55
Mr and Mrs Cod swam by and they sucked in their fishy cheeks. | 0:07:55 | 0:08:00
"We don't go for bright colours round here." | 0:08:00 | 0:08:03
"Do we, Harold?" said Mrs Cod. | 0:08:03 | 0:08:05
"No, Penelope," said Mr Cod. | 0:08:05 | 0:08:09
And then I remembered that there were lots of amazing large shells | 0:08:09 | 0:08:14
in many bright colours in the tropics where we'd been fishing. | 0:08:14 | 0:08:18
Well, after that there was no stopping Herman. | 0:08:18 | 0:08:21
We just had to visit the tropics. Now! | 0:08:21 | 0:08:25
We whizzed through the water so fast | 0:08:25 | 0:08:28
that Salty's whiskers started to whiffle. | 0:08:28 | 0:08:31
"Faster! Faster!" shouted Herman. | 0:08:31 | 0:08:35
Finally, after a lot of whizzing, we made it. | 0:08:35 | 0:08:39
The tropical waters were full of colourful sights. | 0:08:39 | 0:08:44
Salty, she went bounding off | 0:08:44 | 0:08:46
to sniff at a large yellow helmet shell. | 0:08:46 | 0:08:50
"Hmm! Not sure," said Herman. | 0:08:50 | 0:08:54
He really was very difficult to please. | 0:08:54 | 0:08:57
Coral Reef knocked politely at the shell. | 0:08:57 | 0:09:01
To our surprise the long nose of a pipe fish | 0:09:01 | 0:09:06
extended out of the shell and then it started playing loud jazz music! | 0:09:06 | 0:09:12
Well, we loved the music, but Herman shook his head. | 0:09:12 | 0:09:18
He didn't care for this home. | 0:09:18 | 0:09:20
"This is a noisy place to live. It's not for me. Next!" he tutted. | 0:09:20 | 0:09:26
Well, poor Coral, she didn't know what to do. | 0:09:26 | 0:09:30
She'd shown Herman all the houses she could think of. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:35
But then Salty had an idea. | 0:09:35 | 0:09:39
-SHE BARKS -She remembered the top hat | 0:09:39 | 0:09:42
we had seen washed up on the rock. | 0:09:42 | 0:09:45
Brilliant! | 0:09:45 | 0:09:47
We all whizzed over to the rock and popped up onto the surface. | 0:09:47 | 0:09:51
"How about the top hat?" I said. | 0:09:51 | 0:09:55
"Clack my claws," the hermit crab cried, | 0:09:55 | 0:09:59
"it's big, it's colourful, that's the home for me!" | 0:09:59 | 0:10:03
Well, Coral was thrilled. | 0:10:03 | 0:10:06
She had finally found a home for her difficult customer. | 0:10:06 | 0:10:11
And he moved in immediately | 0:10:11 | 0:10:13
into his grand new home with its colourful stripes and silken walls. | 0:10:13 | 0:10:19
Finally, Herman had the home he felt he deserved | 0:10:19 | 0:10:23
and he sat there waiting for all his friends to come and visit. | 0:10:23 | 0:10:27
HE CHUCKLES | 0:10:27 | 0:10:28
And he waited... | 0:10:28 | 0:10:30
and he waited... | 0:10:30 | 0:10:33
and he waited, but nobody came. | 0:10:33 | 0:10:37
And after a long waiting while, | 0:10:37 | 0:10:39
Herman started to feel very, very lonely. | 0:10:39 | 0:10:43
He had been so busy trying to get a bigger, more colourful house, | 0:10:43 | 0:10:48
he'd forgotten all about his friends. | 0:10:48 | 0:10:51
They were now too far away. | 0:10:51 | 0:10:54
They couldn't just pop round, they never called, | 0:10:54 | 0:10:59
and now he was missing them all. | 0:10:59 | 0:11:02
So do you know what he did? | 0:11:02 | 0:11:05
Hmm? He called up Coral Reef. | 0:11:05 | 0:11:09
"Coral," he said. "I want a little winkle shell to live in | 0:11:09 | 0:11:14
"somewhere near my friends." | 0:11:14 | 0:11:16
"Hmm. Well, what about your old house?" said Coral. | 0:11:16 | 0:11:21
"That's still empty." | 0:11:21 | 0:11:24
"That would be perfect!" said Herman. "Thank you." | 0:11:24 | 0:11:28
It was the first time Coral had heard him say thank you. | 0:11:28 | 0:11:32
And she was so pleased she drove over in double-quick time | 0:11:32 | 0:11:37
to take him to his new house. | 0:11:37 | 0:11:40
Soon he was back in his lovely old winkle shell | 0:11:40 | 0:11:44
with all his friends all around him. | 0:11:44 | 0:11:47
And he told them all what a fool he'd been for ever wanting | 0:11:47 | 0:11:51
anything bigger and more colourful than his lovely home. | 0:11:51 | 0:11:57
And do you know what, he lives there happily to this day. | 0:11:57 | 0:12:01
And the top hat? Well, as nobody seemed to want it for a home, | 0:12:01 | 0:12:08
we thought we'd give it a home right here on The Rainbow. | 0:12:08 | 0:12:13
And I think I may have the prefect new home for it, Salty. Right? | 0:12:13 | 0:12:19
Come with me. Come on. Come on! That's a girl! | 0:12:19 | 0:12:24
-That's it. -HE LAUGHS | 0:12:24 | 0:12:27
HOOT! | 0:12:27 | 0:12:28 | |
You like that story, Salty? | 0:12:32 | 0:12:34
Yeah? All true, of course. | 0:12:34 | 0:12:37
-Mind you, my stories always are. -HE LAUGHS | 0:12:37 | 0:12:40
Come on, girl. | 0:12:40 | 0:12:42
Well, this is odd. | 0:12:49 | 0:12:50
I was told my table had collapsed, but it seems to be all right. | 0:12:50 | 0:12:55
Maybe just another little tweak. | 0:12:55 | 0:12:58
There! Another good Sam Spinnaker job is done! | 0:13:01 | 0:13:06
-Table fixed? -Right as rain! | 0:13:06 | 0:13:09
Oh, marvellous! Come on, Salty. | 0:13:09 | 0:13:12
Here you are, Shelly. | 0:13:12 | 0:13:15
-Oh! What have you got for me, Jack? -Now, that is a special pot. | 0:13:15 | 0:13:19
I've filled it with soil | 0:13:19 | 0:13:20
and put some of your favourite flowers in it. | 0:13:20 | 0:13:23
-It's lovely! Thank you. -I'll put it on the table. | 0:13:23 | 0:13:26
-SALTY WHINES -No, don't worry. Sam's fixed it. | 0:13:26 | 0:13:30
Yeah. | 0:13:30 | 0:13:32 | |
-Perfect! -Yeah. | 0:13:32 | 0:13:34
Oh! | 0:13:34 | 0:13:36 | |
BOTH: Sam! | 0:13:36 | 0:13:39
Well, Salty, that's it for today. | 0:13:44 | 0:13:47
We'll see all our friends again next time. | 0:13:47 | 0:13:50
Oh! And we'll see you next time as well. Bye-bye. | 0:13:50 | 0:13:56
Come on, girl. | 0:13:56 | 0:13:58
