PHONE RINGS

0:01:260:01:28

Ho-ho, look, Salty, balloons! I wonder what they're for?

0:01:390:01:42

Hello, Jack. It's a celebration.

0:01:420:01:45

It's Shelly's special offer day, and she's made lots of special cakes.

0:01:450:01:49

If you buy one, you get one free.

0:01:490:01:51

Oh, lovely!

0:01:510:01:53

-My favourite twosome!

-Morning, Shelly.

0:01:530:01:56

Hello, Salty. How are you today?

0:01:560:01:58

Right as rain, we are.

0:01:580:02:00

-Oh, lovely. Here, Salty, have a balloon.

-Ha-ha-ha!

0:02:000:02:03

Would you like to try some of the cupcakes I've made?

0:02:030:02:06

Well, I would not say no.

0:02:060:02:08

-Right, this is a lemon fizzler.

-Yes.

0:02:080:02:10

This is buttercream dream.

0:02:100:02:12

You'll love this one, it's a choc-around-the-clock!

0:02:120:02:15

Choc-around-the-clock! What a choice!

0:02:150:02:18

I had the lemon fizzler, set me up for the day!

0:02:180:02:21

-Thanks, Shelly.

-That's all right, Ernie.

0:02:210:02:23

Well, I'll be off then, Jack, me lad.

0:02:230:02:26

-Oops!

-Oh!

-Ernie!

0:02:260:02:28

BANG!

0:02:280:02:29

SALTY WHIMPERS

0:02:290:02:31

Aaagh, oh, no!

0:02:310:02:33

No, no - oh!

0:02:330:02:35

Don't worry. It's fine.

0:02:360:02:38

Ernie, go back to your stall, I'll clear up the mess.

0:02:380:02:42

Right, Shelly.

0:02:420:02:43

I think I'd better get back to The Rainbow. Oh, dear.

0:02:430:02:47

Good idea. I'll have more cakes by the time you're back.

0:02:470:02:50

-Yes, I thought you might. Come on, Salty.

-Bye.

0:02:500:02:53

That's it, come on. What a mess.

0:02:530:02:56

I don't know.

0:02:560:02:57

Ha-ha, that's better.

0:03:060:03:08

There she is! The Rainbow.

0:03:170:03:20

But what have you got for us today, my dear?

0:03:200:03:23

HONKS

0:03:230:03:25

Hey, hey, come on, Salty.

0:03:250:03:27

HE HUMS

0:03:270:03:30

Here we are.

0:03:300:03:31

Go on, in your bed. Good girl, go on. There we are.

0:03:400:03:45

Oh, look here, it's your favourite aeroplane, Salty, yeah.

0:03:450:03:50

Look at that. Oh, I've got to fix that propeller, too. I'll do that.

0:03:500:03:55

You're still thinking about that balloon, aren't you?

0:03:550:03:58

I know, it was a very, very fine balloon,

0:03:580:04:03

but, you know, balloons can be trouble, too.

0:04:030:04:07

What about that time we took those balloons to the Tigerfish's party?

0:04:070:04:12

Do you remember?

0:04:120:04:14

Once upon a twinkly time,

0:04:150:04:17

The Rainbow set off from Staithes,

0:04:170:04:19

waved goodbye to Whitby

0:04:190:04:21

and disappeared over the horizon.

0:04:210:04:24

We didn't really have a plan that day,

0:04:240:04:26

so we sang.

0:04:260:04:28

# Just Salty Dog and me

0:04:280:04:30

# Upon the silvery sea

0:04:300:04:33

# Nowhere to go and nothing to do

0:04:330:04:35

# We'll sit on the deck and stare at the blue

0:04:350:04:38

# The day will go by in the blink of an eye

0:04:380:04:42

# Just Salty Dog and me. #

0:04:420:04:45

But just as we were getting nice and comfy, and snoozy,

0:04:450:04:49

we heard a flapping of wings, and our good friend Brenda the stork

0:04:490:04:53

landed rather awkwardly on the deck.

0:04:530:04:56

Ooh! Oh, dear.

0:04:560:04:58

"Oh, bother this package," she said.

0:04:580:05:01

"It's addressed to the Tigerfish, special delivery.

0:05:010:05:04

"It's a Pass-the-Parcel parcel, and it's very heavy."

0:05:040:05:08

Hup!

0:05:080:05:10

Pass The Parcel? "It must be the Tigerfish's birthday," I realised.

0:05:100:05:16

Brenda shook her head.

0:05:160:05:18

"Oh dear. He lives under the sea.

0:05:180:05:21

"I can't go down there, my feathers will get all wet!"

0:05:210:05:25

Well, Salty and I were used to walking around under the sea,

0:05:250:05:29

so we offered to deliver the package.

0:05:290:05:33

Well, once under the water, we delivered the package,

0:05:330:05:37

and we made our way back. We almost collided with Speedy!

0:05:370:05:41

In a hurry, as always, he was delivering the birthday cake.

0:05:410:05:45

"Must dash.

0:05:450:05:46

"Beep-beep," and he sped off.

0:05:460:05:50

And then along came Charlie Squid.

0:05:500:05:53

He had his tentacles all tangled up in string bunting

0:05:530:05:56

to decorate the Tigerfish's house.

0:05:560:05:58

"There is so much to do for the Tigerfish's party," he said.

0:05:580:06:02

"It's a good job everyone is helping."

0:06:020:06:05

As we headed on, Salty spotted a little pufferfish,

0:06:050:06:09

perched behind some sea petals.

0:06:090:06:11

She looked a bit sad.

0:06:110:06:13

Hello! Have you been invited to the Tigerfish's party this afternoon?

0:06:130:06:18

"Yes," sniffed the pufferfish, rather sadly,

0:06:180:06:21

"but everybody has got a job to do except me.

0:06:210:06:25

"I want to help with the party like everyone else. It's not fair.

0:06:250:06:29

"I'm not going."

0:06:290:06:31

Oh, dear! She wasn't happy at all,

0:06:310:06:34

but there was nothing we could do.

0:06:340:06:36

So we said goodbye to the sad little pufferfish and we headed off.

0:06:360:06:41

Back on The Rainbow,

0:06:410:06:43

Salty and I had blown up a big bunch of balloons for the party.

0:06:430:06:49

We were having a short break,

0:06:490:06:50

when Salty spotted something strange rising up from the water.

0:06:500:06:56

I took out my trusty telescope... and I had a look.

0:06:560:07:01

It was more balloons.

0:07:010:07:04

They rose up into the air, to reveal Bluey,

0:07:040:07:07

the blue whale, underneath, holding them.

0:07:070:07:11

"Hi, Bluey," I said.

0:07:110:07:12

"Let me guess, are they the Tigerfish's party balloons?" I asked.

0:07:120:07:17

"Yes," Bluey said.

0:07:170:07:20

"I'm supposed to be delivering them, but I need to get a present, too."

0:07:200:07:27

And then Salty, she had one of her brilliant ideas.

0:07:270:07:31

WOOF

0:07:310:07:32

We could deliver the balloons for Bluey!

0:07:320:07:35

Brilliant.

0:07:350:07:36

Bluey carefully handed over his balloons to us

0:07:360:07:39

and we tied them onto the rails of The Rainbow

0:07:390:07:43

with the balloons we had already blown up.

0:07:430:07:45

Bluey thanked us and dashed off,

0:07:450:07:48

but as we waved them off,

0:07:480:07:50

we noticed something strange happening.

0:07:500:07:54

The front of the boat was going slowly up in the air.

0:07:540:07:59

And then we noticed that the whole boat was going up in the air.

0:07:590:08:04

And of course, all those extra balloons were lifting The Rainbow

0:08:040:08:08

up into the air. Up, up, up we went

0:08:080:08:12

and we began to float in the sky.

0:08:120:08:15

Salty was very excited, weren't you?

0:08:150:08:18

She had always dreamed of being a pilot, flying her very own aeroplane.

0:08:180:08:22

I looked through my trusty telescope,

0:08:220:08:25

and down below I saw the village clock in Staithes.

0:08:250:08:28

Whoops! Look at the time!

0:08:280:08:30

The party was starting soon, and we still had these balloons to deliver.

0:08:300:08:36

We needed to get The Rainbow down again, and fast.

0:08:360:08:40

We were floating higher and higher

0:08:400:08:43

when Brenda the stork passed by again.

0:08:430:08:46

"I know! I'll call up the angry bees,

0:08:460:08:49

"they'll be able to help," she said.

0:08:490:08:53

Well, we tried to stop her, but Brenda was already on the phone.

0:08:530:08:57

And sure enough, moments later,

0:08:570:08:59

on the horizon we saw a large crowd of angry bees.

0:08:590:09:04

Bzzzzzzzz!

0:09:040:09:06

"No! No!" we shouted, "Don't pop the balloons,

0:09:060:09:09

"we need them for the party"!

0:09:090:09:12

But it was too late.

0:09:120:09:13

The bees popped every single balloon with their stings.

0:09:160:09:20

Moments later, there wasn't a balloon left,

0:09:200:09:24

and, of course, The Rainbow suddenly fell back into the sea

0:09:240:09:27

with an enormous crash,

0:09:270:09:30

and an enormous splash!

0:09:300:09:33

Brenda flapped over.

0:09:330:09:35

"That got you down," she said, cheerily.

0:09:350:09:39

Well, it was true, but what were we going to do?

0:09:390:09:43

Now we didn't have a single balloon for the party.

0:09:430:09:48

But Salty, she had her thoughtful face on,

0:09:480:09:51

the one where her whiskers wiggle.

0:09:510:09:54

She'd just had a brilliant idea.

0:09:540:09:56

WOOF!

0:09:560:09:58

"We need to find that pufferfish," she said.

0:09:580:10:01

So we dashed back down, under the water,

0:10:010:10:03

looking for the sad little pufferfish.

0:10:030:10:06

"How is a little pufferfish going to help us?" I asked,

0:10:060:10:09

but Salty was in too much of a hurry to reply.

0:10:090:10:13

Eventually, we found the little pufferfish where we'd left her,

0:10:130:10:17

behind a sea petal.

0:10:170:10:20

"Little pufferfish," said Salty,

0:10:200:10:23

"Would you like a job to do at the party?"

0:10:230:10:27

Well, her puffy eyes brightened when she heard that!

0:10:270:10:32

"Oh, yes, please," she said.

0:10:320:10:35

"Then puff yourself up like a balloon,"

0:10:350:10:38

said Salty, "because we don't have any."

0:10:380:10:42

And right there and then, the sad little pufferfish puffed herself up

0:10:420:10:47

to be a really big, happy pufferfish, who looked just like a balloon!

0:10:470:10:53

"And can you stay like that for the whole party?" I asked.

0:10:540:10:57

"Oh, yes," puffed the pufferfish.

0:10:570:11:00

"I'm always full of puff."

0:11:000:11:02

"Hu-hu-hu-hu."

0:11:020:11:04

We were ready for the party!

0:11:040:11:07

And what a party it was!

0:11:070:11:09

The little pufferfish invited all her brothers and sisters along,

0:11:090:11:13

as well, so we had pufferfish balloons everywhere.

0:11:130:11:17

Salty won a model aeroplane playing Pass the Parcel,

0:11:170:11:21

and the Tigerfish said,

0:11:210:11:23

"This is the best birthday ever!"

0:11:230:11:26

And this is the plane Salty won in Pass the Parcel.

0:11:260:11:33

Yeah, I'll fix that later.

0:11:330:11:36

Well, that was a tale to wiffle your whiskers, wasn't it, Salty?

0:11:360:11:41

Yeah, we'll fix that.

0:11:410:11:44

Did you like that story, Salty?

0:11:500:11:53

Yes? All true, of course.

0:11:530:11:55

Mind you, my stories always are. Ho-ho.

0:11:550:11:59

Oh, look. See that?

0:11:590:12:03

Come on.

0:12:030:12:05

HE HUMS

0:12:160:12:18

Come on, you. There we are.

0:12:180:12:19

-Hello, Jack.

-Hello, Shelly. They look good!

0:12:190:12:22

It must have taken you all morning to bake these!

0:12:220:12:25

Not really. Why don't you settle yourself down and try one?

0:12:250:12:29

I think I will, yes.

0:12:290:12:30

You sit down, too, go on.

0:12:300:12:32

Oh, it's looking lovely again, Shelly. Well done.

0:12:320:12:37

Sorry you couldn't find any more balloons for your special offer day.

0:12:370:12:41

Balloons!

0:12:410:12:42

Don't worry, Shelly, it's the cakes that matter.

0:12:420:12:46

You know, lemon fizzler, choc-around-the-clock!

0:12:460:12:49

But I wanted to give Salty a balloon! Now, where did I put them?

0:12:490:12:53

-Stay there.

-Ah, there they are.

0:12:580:13:00

Here you go, Salty!

0:13:020:13:04

I don't remember those being there!

0:13:040:13:06

You were probably concentrating on your cakes!

0:13:060:13:09

I think I was. It's a lemon fizzler for me, definitely.

0:13:090:13:13

Enjoy!

0:13:130:13:14

Yes, thanks. Sit down while I unwrap this.

0:13:140:13:17

Ha-ha-ha...ho-ho-ho...

0:13:170:13:19

Well, Salty, that's it for today.

0:13:280:13:31

We'll see all our friends again next time.

0:13:310:13:33

Oh, and we'll see you next time as well.

0:13:350:13:38

Bye-bye.

0:13:380:13:39

Come on, girl.
