Two unforgettable weeks...

Nine pet-crazy kids...

-I'd like a dog.

-I'd really like a scorpion or a snake.

I would like a rabbit.

And 51 hungry mouths to feed!

But...can Pet School give our nine Pet Heads the skills

to become responsible pet owners?

Sit, Kiki, sit!

When term's out, will they persuade their parents to get them

a pet of their own?

Is he going to get a pet?

Liam still refuses to pick up poo.

Tej and Kiki have become inseparable.

And has Ysabel grown too close to KitKat the hamster?

Today big changes are coming that won't please all our kids.

But some are going to love it!

Pet School is all about learning how to be a top pet carer.

Our nine Pet Heads have each been looking after a pet

- or pet buddy as I like to call them.

For some, it's been a good experience,

I love these rats.

Others...not so good.

It's not the kind of animal that I really want as a pet.

Some have overcome their pet fears...

Oh, my days. This is actually really cool!

And there's also been some real close bonding going on.

It's the end of week one, and the kids are halfway

through their journey to prove to their parents

they can look after a pet.

Welcome back to Pet School, guys.

Can you believe it's day five? It's mad, isn't it?

There's only one week left. One week to prove to your families

you've got what it takes to be pet owners.

Now, a bit of an announcement to make.

Next week, you're going to be buddied up again.

It could be a completely different animal, another pet.

How's everyone feeling? Ysabel?

-I just really want to keep my pet buddy.

-OK.

Ysabel was scared of hamsters

but bonding with KitKat has changed all that.

Tej, I just want to ask you a question.

What would you hope for next week?

I'm hoping to get Kiki again.

Tej has been developing Kiki's tricks with the help

of Ashleigh and Pudsey.

We can't guarantee it's going to be Kiki.

It could be a completely different animal.

Sophie, if Tej doesn't get Kiki, maybe you can get Kiki,

what do you reckon?

COCKEREL CROWS

That sound! I love that sound.

That means we're going to start pet practice.

Chris, Ysabel and Sophie...

-Rat-a-tat-tat.

-Oh, my God.

Oh yes, with the rats.

Micah, Rachel and Sam...

..horses.

Tej, Liam and Giulia,

you're in the food room.

-Eurgh!

-It's not a great job but it's got to be done

and it's part of being a great pet owner as well, OK?

-Brilliant, we all know what we're doing?

-Uh-huh.

Part of the Pet Heads' daily duties at Pet School is to learn about looking after different animals.

Each team is given 45 minutes to complete a different challenge.

Let's 'ave it!

Rachel, Sam and Micah have arrived at the stables,

where horses Dobbie and Muddy await.

This pet practice involves...

To help get closer to Dobbie and Muddy,

horse helper Barbara gives the guys

a crunchy carrot treat.

Open your hand really, really flat.

There we go.

Good. Right, we're going to put this head collar on, OK?

Rachel seems a lot more confident than the boys.

That's it. Very, very good.

-Right, who's catching Dobbie?

-I am.

-You are?

Dobbie!

He's a bit big.

Yeah, a lot bigger than your bunny buddies, Micah!

-Oh, look.

-I'm nervous.

-It's all right, it's all right.

I've got him, just keep your hand flat.

-Oh no, he's dropped it!

-Oh, my days!

In the mouth, not on the floor!

'When I went in to feed the carrots to Dobbie,'

I was a little bit anxious cos I thought he might bite my hand.

Oh! He bit me!

Slobby Dobbie!

Okey-dokey, let's get that head collar on.

Dobbie!

'Barbara taught us how to put the head collar on a horse.'

It wasn't really that hard.

There was a tiny bit of nervousness in me.

-He's not going to bite you.

-Yeah, I know,

it's cos he keeps breathing over me.

Breathing over you, is he?

-So then hold that there.

-Hold that there, lift it over the top.

-Over the top.

-Come round the other side.

Yeah, put it on the second one for me.

Good.

Good lad. Right, time to get these gee-gees back to the stables!

Come on, Dobbie, come on. Let's go.

I heard something drop on the ground behind him,

which was not very good.

Oh, no! Ewww!

That stinks!

It wasn't a pleasant smell or sight

and I was feeling totally disappointed

cos I knew I'd have to clean it up.

Don't worry, mate, I'm sure Rachel and Sam will help.

Or at least watch.

It was OK.

I thought I might as well get it over and done with.

I know if I had a pet, I'd have to clean up after it a lot.

Well done, Micah. Cleaning up after your animals is good pet practice.

Over in the stock room, cleaning up is also the name of the game

for Giulia, Liam and Tej.

Oh, my!

It's only day five, look at the state of it!

It is so messy! What happened in here?

Eurgh, look at that, that's disgusting.

Hold up, that's my lunch!

The Pet Heads have to clean up the stock room, obviously,

check there's enough food left,

and pop outside to empty the poo bin onto the compost heap. Nice!

Liam's not happy.

Oh, my gosh, I'm not doing that, taking the herbivore poo.

Doesn't look that scary to me.

Shouldn't you wash your hands

after you clean up, Tej?

-Why are you washing your hands?

-In case we touch some Kiki food,

-I don't want Kiki to have bad, dirty food.

-Oh, for goodness' sake!

They're all a bit touchy today. I think this morning's decision

about changing pet buddies is definitely playing on their minds.

Looking after a pet isn't just about cleaning up.

Over in the rodents' room, Ysabel, Sophie and Chris

have some fun in store.

Rats love exploring so the team needs to build them

an obstacle course.

Obstacle course for rats? Unbelievable.

Hey, guys.

Here's our Reena to keep an eye on them.

Put that in there.

Using the cool objects we've left out for them,

the Pet Heads don't waste any time in building a new rat playground.

Check it out.

Look at that! Let's get Marylin out and see what she thinks.

Round her waist. Well done, Chris.

Ohhhh!

Tell you what, I'll bring her out so you can hold her.

I don't know if I want to hold that one.

-Whoa, whoa...

-I'll put her on your shoulder.

Argh! Ow! Oh my god, she's got claws!

-Hold her as I've been holding her.

-Ow, she's got claws.

The reason I wouldn't have

a rat as a pet is cos of their tails.

It's like a little furry snake like there. Eurgh!

-Aw, she went through!

-Marylin's in the tunnel!

-Oh look, she's eating a banana, aw!

-Aw!

-Aw!

I joined the Pet Heads in the stock room to get their thoughts

on the possible pet buddy swap.

It's only fair that we mix round the animals a little bit.

It isn't fair if the person doesn't want it.

I mean, people want a dog more than a rat.

But this is Pet School and it's all about proving to your parents

you're responsible and sometimes, if you get the pet you don't want,

yeah, we can see you're looking after it well.

That means the one you do want, you're going to be brilliant with.

-So sometimes we've got to mix it up a little bit.

-No!

-We're going to have to do it.

-You can't, please,

-I've become emotionally attached to her.

-I know that.

I think if someone wants Kiki, they deserve to have a chance with her.

They don't seem too happy but the work's got to be done.

Listen, the poo, you need to take that down to the compost heap, yeah?

Back at the stables, it's time to get all that muck

out of the horses' hooves.

With the hoof-pick, you're going to feel down the sides.

If it's soft, it must come out.

Barbara gives a quick demonstration.

Now it's down to our Pet School team.

Horses' hooves are made out of keratin,

same material as our fingernails.

Cleaning them doesn't hurt. The horses' hooves, that is,

not our nails.

Sam seems pretty confident. Fancy a go, Micah?

I don't really want to do this.

Pull it up, pull it up.

Rachel's got to give it a go too. Micah!

I really don't want to do this!

It's all right!

Not at all.

-Micah, come on!

-Oh...

Come on, everyone else has done it.

After a bit of persuasion from Rachel and Sam,

Micah gets involved. Well done.

-Tough!

-Hard, isn't it?

So, this hand underneath and then, yeah...

Yeah, you've got to be quite hard.

Guys, I was a bit worried but now that I'm doing it,

I feel quite confident.

This is actually really fun!

This pet practice is almost over, Pet Heads.

Come on, Micah, we're almost out of time.

We should have done four hooves and you've only done one

between three of you.

Even though they didn't complete the task in time,

Micah and the team have overcome

their fear of cleaning horses' hooves.

Changing pet buddies is also a hot topic in the furry room.

-You might be losing your hamsters.

-I don't want to.

I'm staying with my buddy.

Maybe Sophie might get one of the rats.

Come on, come on!

I can't do it.

The Pet School rats were buddied with Giulia

and she's fallen for them.

I love these rats. They're really nice.

She won't take it very well.

She's going to be proper brewing.

I hope she doesn't fall out with anyone.

I'd like to have the rats as a pet buddy, but cos they're Giulia's

at the moment,

I don't want to swap and get the rats, and she doesn't

cos it will make her upset and I'll feel bad.

Rat task, done.

Time's just about up, and Giulia, Liam and Tej have got to get

the herbivore poo to the compost heap.

Giulia, are you coping OK with that bin, now the boys have given up?

We didn't give up, I just wasn't physically strong enough!

-You OK, Giulia?

-Hmm-mm.

Liam and Tej are slacking a bit. Come on, lads!

Giulia, it just goes in that heap right ahead of you.

Boys, you can help her.

Whoa. Turn it around and chuck the bin.

Yeah, all of that needs to join the compost heap.

-Guys! Help Giulia, she's doing all the work.

Task complete, but only thanks to Giulia's efforts.

Another pet practice done. Chris has conquered the rats.

Micah's managed to clean the horses' hooves.

This is actually fun.

For the past four days, our Pet Heads have been feeding

and caring for their very own pet buddies.

Tinkerbell and Daisy have been buddied up with Micah,

or rather, bunnied up!

After almost a week, Micah's barely touched the bunnies,

let alone picked them up.

The best way to approach a rabbit is to get down to their level

and let them come to you.

Yeah, he's a bit nervous today.

Oh, gosh! It's eating its poo.

I thought I taught you better than that.

I'm getting a bit bored with them again

cos they're just hiding.

So I don't think we've had a good relationship

but at least we bonded a bit...

One buddy and team that's working well is Tej and Kiki.

He's fallen head-over-paws for her.

Over the past week, the two have spent

every moment they can together.

KIKI WHINES

I would never love any animal in Pet School more than Kiki.

I've literally fallen in love with Kiki.

I think we have a special bond with each other.

She's probably the most sweet dog I know.

She's amazing and I love her so much.

I'm going to make a special request and ask can I please have Kiki

as my pet for the next week?

Mollie! Mollie! Sit...

Today, Liam and his pet buddy, Mollie, are having a great time.

But it hasn't always been this way.

At first, Mollie was often having a kip and Liam got bored.

She's fallen asleep.

He refused to pick up her poo - a big part of pet care!

She did a poo!

So I had to get Mum in for a chat.

He needs to prove himself, he needs to clean after the dog.

If he wants to persuade his mum, he'll have to pick up the poo.

Found some!

-Where?

-I'll get it.

-Is that Kiki or Mollie poo?

-I don't know.

-Actually, we can't really tell.

Don't step on it!

Will he pick up the poo?

I feel sick...

Oh, my gosh!

No more, Kiki, no more.

You did it!

Oh, my gosh, let's go!

He's done it! Unbelievable.

-Is that what I think it is?

-Yep!

What are you smelling it for? Don't sniff it, you know what it is!

-How do you feel? You've done it!

-Picked up my first bit of poo.

You just went straight in, didn't think about it.

This is a big achievement.

I was thinking about that I really want a dog.

You proved a big point there.

How hard was it to do that?

Not hard at all, now that I've done it.

It just takes, like, ten seconds and it's done.

-Get it in the bag.

After picking up the poo, Liam's feelings towards Mollie have changed.

I don't want to leave her. I want to keep Mollie.

But is it too late?

Primrose and Pickles' pet buddy, Chris,

is planning to take them for one last walk.

No, back, back. You've got to stay in your own pen.

All right there, girls.

Oh, no way! Can't believe I've done that.

On my last day with them, I set them free.

Come on, Primrose!

Here's Sophie and Rachel to give him a goat-herding hand.

Quick lap of the goat pen and Primrose is back,

with the help of Pickles and the Pet School crew.

No, you won't try it again.

Someone else who doesn't want to leave their pet buddy is Ysabel.

She's adorable. Aw, who's a good girl?

You're so cute, I don't want to give you away, you're mine!

At first, things didn't work out well

between KitKat the hamster and Ysabel.

She doesn't like me.

I don't think I'll last a week.

But their relationship soon blossomed.

You're quite sweet, actually!

And now, they're the best of friends.

I really, really like KitKat

and I don't know if she's going to be my pet buddy.

I don't know if I'll be able to survive without her.

The cage is Pet School's way of teaching the Pet Heads

what it's really like to be one of man's best friends.

Giulia, the whole point of the cage is so you can get an understanding

of what it's like to be a pet with a bad owner.

It's a very big job and you've volunteered, so come round here.

The point of no return. If you do get a bit of cage rage,

just shout "cage fright" and I'll come running back and let you out.

To complete her task in the cage,

Giulia must learn the no-no's

of keeping a pet.

The BPO, or bad pet owner, has kindly offered to show them to her.

Giulia looks bored already. It's your responsibility

to spend time with your pet and cater for all its needs.

Looking after your pet is a 24/7 commitment,

not just when you've got nothing better to do.

That's bang out of order, teasing poor Giulia with food!

Your pet has feelings too. It's never funny to tease an animal.

Oi! You lot! Go on, scarper!

What are they? Unbelievable.

-You survived! Come on!

You survived the cage, I can't believe it.

-How are you feeling? Get out of here.

-I was so bored!

In the cage, I learned that I don't give my dog attention.

It was just so boring!

I'll definitely give him much more attention

and much more love and care.

'Reena and I have been watching how the Pet Heads have been getting on

'all week with their pet buddy.

'We've got to decide who should swap.'

It's going to be a tough one

cos some of them have really taken to their pets.

-You know, he's been a good boy.

maybe think about giving him something that he's after.

She needs something she can care for, something cuddly, cute.

Let's give her something else to show she can care

for other types of animals.

Something that's a bit more challenging.

I got a rabbit. I was really sad

cos I wanted Mollie.
