-One sunny morning, everything

-was quiet in the old oak forest.

-The lake was still...

-..the leaves on the trees

-were still...

-..and every blade of grass stood up

-straight like green soldiers.

-The animals lazed around

-and snoozed in the sunshine.

-Hold on.

-What's causing the ripples

-on the water?

-Why are the leaves shaking?

-Why is the grass

-and the ground beneath it shaking?

-Oh, no.

-Someone was heading

-to the old oak forest.

-Someone who was causing

-all this commotion.

-Do you know who it was?

-Mrs Mari Wari Wmarw.

-Mari to her friends.

-Mari was a kangaroo.

-A large, brown, happy kangaroo.

-She was very bouncy.

-"Here I am, here I come,

-bouncing, hopping, hoh-hoh-hoh.

-"How-de-dan and how-de-doo,

-here I am, a kangaroo."

-If Mari had to choose one thing

-she was good at doing...

-..it would he hopping,

-without a doubt.

-"Goodness me!" she exclaimed,

-"I'm so good at hopping.

-"That's why I'm a kangaroo."

-She hopped over the anthill,

-over the wooden bridge and over Bob.

-The lazy horse.

-Right in the middle of the copse,

-Mr Cwningen was eating carrots.

-"Who are you?" asked the rabbit.

-It had never seen

-such an animal before.

-"Who are you?"

-asked Mari the kangaroo.

-"I'm a rabbit."

-"Nice to meet you," said Mari.

-"I'm Mrs Mari Wari Wmarw.

-"You can call me Mari.

-"I'm a kangaroo because I have

-large feet and I like hopping."

-"You don't say! I have large feet

-and I like hopping too.

-"I thought I was a rabbit

-but I must be a kangaroo."

-Before Mari could reply,

-Mr Cwningen hopped into the woods.

-He hopped and hopped

-until he reached the pond.

-That's where Mr Broga lived.

-"How do, Mr Cwningen?"

-asked Mr Broga.

-"A fine morning, don't you think?"

-"Yes, very nice. I have something

-to tell you, Mr Broga.

-"I'm not a rabbit. I'm a kangaroo."

-"Goodness me," said Mr Broga.

-"Really? How exactly

-did you work that out?"

-"I met another kangaroo.

-She was very nice.

-"Her name was Mari.

-"She said that every kangaroo

-had large feet and liked to hop.

-"So, well, you know,

-large feet, likes to hop.

-"Me, a kangaroo."

-"Well, now then," said Mr Broga.

-"I have large feet

-and I like hopping.

-"Well, well. I thought I was a frog.

-"I was a kangaroo after all."

-"Who'd have thought it?"

-Just then, Mr Broga hopped off

-his stone and into the woods.

-He didn't have to hop far before

-bumping into his best friend...

-..Miss Henrietta Aurelia Chwannen.

-A little flea -

-her name was bigger than her.

-"Miss Chwannen, I have some

-important news for you,"...

-..said Mr Broga.

-"Tell me, what is it?"

-asked Miss Chwannen.

-"I'm not a frog, it seems.

-"I have large feet.

-"I'm a kangaroo.

-"Can you believe it?"

-"Ooh," said Miss Chwannen, "Now that

-you mention it, I have large feet.

-"For a flea.

-And no-one can hop like me.

-"I must be a kangaroo too."

-"The old oak forest

-is full of kangaroos!"...

-..said Mr Broga to Miss Chwannen,

-but it was too late.

-Before Mr Broga

-had finished his sentence...

-..Miss Chwannen hopped away

-telling everyone she was a kangaroo.

-Mrs Kangaroo, Mr Cwningen,

-Mr Broga and Miss Chwannen...

-..sang as they hopped

-through the forest.

-# Here we are, here we come,

-bouncing, hopping, hoh-hoh-hoh

-# How-de-dan and how-de-doo,

-here we are, all kangaroos #

-Mari the kangaroo saw a squirrel

-and asked her...

-.."Do you like hopping?"

-"I don't know, I've never tried it,"

-replied the squirrel.

-"Try it, it's a lot of fun,"

-said Mari enthusiastically.

-"Look - copy me."

-The squirrel did as she was told

-and she enjoyed it.

-"You're a great hopper.

-You must be a kangaroo," said Mari.

-"Ha!" replied the squirrel,

-"I must be."

-# Here we are, here we come,

-bouncing, hopping, hoh-hoh-hoh

-# How-de-dan and how-de-doo,

-here we are, all kangaroos #

-Miss Chwannen told all the insects.

-Mr Broga

-told all the pond creatures.

-Soon, all the forest creatures

-thought they were kangaroos.

-By now, everyone was singing.

-# Here we are, here we come,

-bouncing, hopping, hoh-hoh-hoh

-# How-de-dan and how-de-doo,

-here we are, all kangaroos #

-The only one

-who didn't hear the message...

-..was Bob, the lazy horse.

-He was still snoozing in the

-sunshine but he woke up slowly.

-The ground beneath his feet

-was shaking.

-Up, down, up, down.

-Boom, boom, boom.

-"What on earth?" said Bob...

-..as a tree full of nuts

-showered down on him.

-The trees shook, as did

-the hedgerows and the flowers.

-Ants emerged from the anthill

-and scattered everywhere.

-The pond shook.

-Water splish-splashed everywhere.

-"What's going on?" asked Bob.

-"Everything was so still

-when I dozed off.

-"The whole forest is shaking now.

-Oh, no!

-"It's an earthquake."

-He galloped away as quickly

-as his legs could take him.

-"What are you doing?"

-he shouted at everyone.

-"Hopping, of course,"

-replied Mrs Mari the kangaroo.

-"We're hopping because we're

-all kangaroos," replied the mole.

-The sound of the hopping

-was deafening.

-"Can you all please stop hopping?"

-shouted Bob.

-And they did.

-"All this hopping

-is a problem for the forest.

-"And I'd like to announce

-that you're all not kangaroos.

-"To be honest,

-I can only see one kangaroo.

-"You, there.

-"Listen, friends, I'm a horse.

-"I like being a horse.

-"Mr Cwningen, I like you

-because you're different to me.

-"I like you

-because you're a rabbit.

-"Mr Broga,

-I like you because you're a frog.

-"Miss Chwannen,

-I like you because you're a flea.

-"We can't all be kangaroos.

-"That would make the world

-a very boring place.

-"Mrs Kangaroo, I like you

-because you're a kangaroo...

-.."but the rest of you, you're

-my friends because you are you."

-The animals were surprised.

-"Now then, can we all return to

-what we were and stop hopping?"...

-..Bob sighed.

-Back they went to enjoy

-what remained of the sunny day.
