Hi and welcome to Style Download.

Today I'm paying a surprise visit to Tom...or should I say his cats?

Hi, my name is Tom.

I'm ten years old and I live in this house with the guys -

my mum, my dad and my sister.

I like playing guitar.

ROCKING GUITAR RIFF

But most of all, I like hanging out with my cats.

CAT MEOWS Aaaargh!

Tom loves his cats.

They get in a bit of mischief from time to time

and I think they need a little bit of occupying

to divert their attention from all the naughtiness they get up to.

SHE SCREAMS

They're naughty, so I need to find a way to keep them out of trouble.

-Hi, Tom, I'm Georgia. It's nice to meet you.

-Why don't I come in and explain what's going on, yeah?

So you've got two twin cats, but what seems to be the problem?

I love my cats, but they're always getting into mischief

and scratching up stuff.

SCRATCHING

-They need something to keep them amused, yeah?

-Yeah.

We have some simple but effective pet toys we can make,

and we can customise each one to reflect the cat's personality.

-All right?

-Yeah.

-Brilliant. Let's go.

Leon likes playing with ribbons and Lynx likes feathers,

so I've got ideas for both. And the great part is,

these toys can be used for a range of pets, not just cats.

OK, so we've got everything we need here to make a toy

for the for both Lynx and Leon, and one they can play together.

-But who should we do first?

-Leon. I like him the most.

Right, OK. So let's get started then!

That's our kitten mitten complete.

Moving on to Lynx, we're going to make him a dangly toy,

and we're going to make a third toy for both of them.

BELL RATTLES INSIDE BOX

So that's our toys made, and you can use the cardboard left over

to give to your guinea pigs. Nothing goes to waste here!

-They'll love that.

Now, the question is, will your cats like their new toys?

Making toys for your pet couldn't be easier.

You just need to follow a few important steps.

All you need for this is a cardboard tissue box

and ball with a rattle in it.

Make sure you buy the ball from a pet shop

so it's safe for your pet to use.

Put the ball through the hole at the top and cover with card.

A prefect way of attracting your pet's attention.

You'll need a glove and some long ribbon,

making sure both are free from coloured dyes

that could harm your pet.

Then tie the ribbon to the end of each finger and thumb.

Hours of fun for your pet.

Some dogs like this too, but it's more effective with a cat.

Cats and dogs love this and it's really easy to make.

Take a cardboard toilet roll and cut in half.

Pierce a hole through both sides and, using ribbon,

tie plain feathers to the end of each piece.

Thread the other end of the ribbon

through the hole in the cardboard tube,

and that' it - a feather toy perfect for your pet.

Make sure everything you use is natural and free from dyes

and small pieces that your pet could swallow,

and make sure you always supervise them when playing.

Tom's cats seem pretty content with their new toys,

and they seem to be keeping them out of trouble for the time being.
