Today's Dengineers are brother and sister duo Sami and Nadia

from north west London.

-I'm sitting here.

-No, I am!

If there's one thing that Sami and Nadia agree on...

it's that they don't really agree on anything.

-We do get on sometimes.

-No!

But most of the time we just, like,

argue about really stupid things.

You're so annoying!

Despite all this bickering,

there's one thing in particular that brings these guys together...

..and that's their love of playing music and rocking out.

But these budding rock stars have a problem.

Stop it!

Nadia, shut up!

Sami and Nadia's daily rehearsal sessions

mean that Mum, Dad and sisters Leila and Mimi

have to endure some serious noise!

Which means Sami and Nadia have to use headphones -

which can really affect their music.

If we do use headphones, we can't keep in time,

or can't hear it together, so it's quite annoying.

If these guys are going to become superstar musicians...

..and their family are going to get some peace and quiet...

Shut up!

They need a den fit for the loudest of rock music.

And that's exactly what they're going to get -

but they have no idea they're about to become Dengineers!

This den is literally music to my ears, Mark!

Yeah, I hear you Lauren.

Right now Sami and Nadia are in their house

getting ready for school.

And they have absolutely no idea

that we're about to crash their breakfast Dengineer stylee!

Mum and Dad are in on the hit...

and Dad's been setting up some hidden cameras

to catch the big surprise.

These guys have no idea that they have made it on to the show.

Operation Surprise Sami And Nadia is on...

-Or is it?

-Oh...

Oh... I don't like cats!

With the family's cat Ozzy carefully negotiated,

it's time to see if the coast is clear.

'That was SO close - but luckily we got away with it.'

Finally, Sami and Nadia are sat down at the dining table.

And that's our cue from Mum to make our way in.

-Are you ready?

Sami and Nadia have no idea that we're in their house...

but that's all about to change.

-Are you all right?

-Having a nice breakfast?

-Yeah.

OK, well, I'm Mark and this is Lauren,

and we're from CBBC's The Dengineers.

-OK...!

-Scary.

Guys, we've heard that you two are budding musicians,

but you can't quite rock out

because you're a bit too noisy - does that sound about right?

We're here to help you two build your own dream rock den,

so you can make as much noise as you want with your music.

-How does that sound?

-Awesome!

Not a clue that this was going to happen.

Hello!

Good morning, Sami and Nadia. How are you doing?

I was just scared when the cameras came into the dining room

when I was eating my breakfast!

It's been really hard trying to keep this secret from the kids,

because they are just so inquisitive.

Like, at Christmas -

it's impossible to hide from them, they just know everything.

I'm really excited, cos my drums are so noisy,

it will be somewhere where I can make as much noise as I want

without everybody shouting at me.

Our first port of call is the Dengineers mobile HQ,

which has some mega cool technology to get this den rolling.

In here, we get all the ideas that are in your head,

and download them onto this pad,

and make one big picture of what your den's going to look like.

On here, we've got tonnes and tonnes of pictures,

to just give us a little bit of inspiration -

so, shall we have a little look?

-I like that thing!

-What's that?

-It says "let's rock".

-Cool.

-So would you like that as a picture, maybe, on the wall?

Yeah, that'd be awesome.

Oh, yeah, that would be really cool.

What do you think about that colour?

Orange is my favourite colour.

And I like black. Orange is my second favourite.

-Ah, nice!

-Ah!

-So, we could do an orange and black theme throughout, couldn't we?

-Yeah.

-I like that thing with the speakers.

-This one here, yeah?

So, guys, who are your favourite bands?

I like Muse and Metallica and 5 Seconds Of Summer.

So, you're SO not into the pop scene, are you?

-Not really!

-This is all about the rock.

Sami and Nadia have agreed on orange and black colours,

a speaker design and some rock inspired graphics for their den.

Now it's time to meet the expert designer

who can make their dreams a reality.

And we've got the perfect person to take this den to the next level.

Meet Olga - she's a specialist in creating seriously cool dens,

and can make the smallest of spaces look totally awesome.

So, Olga, we are absolutely raring to go - where do we start?

Right, so, Lauren and Mark told me everything

about your ideas you have for the den,

and I came up with a plan.

-How about a giant speaker?

-Yeah!

-What, so it's going right here?

-Yeah, I'm thinking right here!

What, like...a den that is in the shape of a speaker?

-Yeah.

-That will be so cool.

-That's awesome.

It would have to have your name on it.

Oh, that would be quite cool - so, what do you mean by name?

-Their names or...?

-Yeah, your name or your logo -

-the name of your band.

-That's the logo.

-Oh, cool, we're going to have this as a logo.

-That's brilliant!

I love it! So, that's the outside of the den.

-Yeah.

-What about the inside? What do you guys think?

I think we should have, like, staves on the wall -

they're the five lines which you write music on.

Cos then we can write music while we're playing.

Yeah, so it will be like your working space and chilling space.

So, we're thinking keyboards, drums, amplifiers...

It's going to get pretty loud in there, isn't it?

-Yeah.

-Yeah.

-It could be like a small gig venue.

-Yeah, that'd be cool.

-That would be really cool.

So, we've got all those amazing ideas -

but we have one problem.

We have the trampoline and the shed in the way -

we need to move it.

-That looks like quite a big job, right?

-Yeah.

-Mm.

I've got a great idea.

Your dad is just in there

and he's like chilling out, kicking back.

I reckon we get him involved - what do you think?

-Yeah.

-Yeah, let's!

-Let's go - come on!

'Dad is really going to benefit from this den,

'so he wastes no time in getting stuck in by emptying the shed.'

-BANG

-Ouch!

Oh, no! Are you all right, Dad?

Yeah, I'm fine, thank you.

The shed is cleared, and Ozzy seems happy with Dad's work.

Now we need to get it shifted out the way.

-Wow!

-How do they do that?

Operation Get The Shed Shifted has been completed so quickly

that not everyone has noticed it's moved...

and by "not everyone", I mean Ozzy the cat.

Wow, that dive put Tom Daley to shame!

Ozzy's Olympic effort deserves another look.

It's OK - Ozzy is fine after his mid-air acrobatic high-flying stunt.

With the shed moved,

me, Sami and Nadia get involved to help clear the rest of the space.

Are you OK?

Don't worry, guys, the muscle's arrived.

Right.

Eurgh, there's a spider.

Aah!

Agh!

Is there a spider?

-I DON'T like them.

-No, it's a spider's web...

I'm quite excited - like even more excited now,

because I didn't realise it was going to be that big,

and there's a huge space ready for the den to go.

So, it's cool.

In no time at all, the mess has been cleared up

thanks to a huge effort from dad and the Dengineers!

Ooh! Ooh!

Nice one, guys - we're done!

Dad, top job clearing the garden -

but I'm afraid to tell you that from here on in,

this is a Dengineers only zone -

so, I'm taking you back in.

-Come on, away you go.

'The next time Sami and Nadia's family see the garden

'will be on the big reveal day -

'and that leaves little time for Olga and the Dengineers

'to pull off the transformation of a lifetime.'

Mum, Dad, read it and weep!

Olga has come up with a superstar design.

From the outside, the den will look like a musician's amp

and on the inside she's designed a cool rehearsal space

where Sami and Nadia can craft their music.

Olga's using custom-made logos and atmospheric lighting

to make this den an exciting space to hang out - and rock out!

Now the shed is cleared,

the next job is to put down a concrete base

to support the weight of this awesome den.

A whopping four tonnes of concrete are needed for Olga's creation -

that's the same weight as an elephant!

Next up, it's the structure of the den,

which the Dengineers team waste no time in cracking on with.

With the Dengineers working hard on the den,

I reckon it's time for me, Sami and Nadia

to take a breather from the build and hit the road.

I was thinking today maybe we could go out -

maybe go to a gig together, what do you think?

-Yeah, that would be cool!

-OK!

THEY SING ALONG TO "Starlight" BY MUSE

Muse are topping the bill at a Download festival.

This annual event at Derby's Donington Park

is the UK's biggest rock festival -

and if Sami and Nadia want to become top musicians one day,

it's the perfect place to see what it's like

to perform on the big stage.

-Whoa!

-Wow!

So, guys, there's something I haven't told you as yet.

Let me see your wristbands that we've got...

These wristbands can get you in backstage over there!

-Really?

-Really? Where all the bands are?

Where all of the bands are!

-Do you want to go and have a look now?

With these passes, we get access all areas,

and get to watch the bands up close -

and I mean up very close -

hashtag VIPs!

I think today's been really amazing,

cos I didn't know where I was going,

and now I'm here at Download, and it's been great.

Wearing these wristbands makes me feel really awesome,

because you get to go backstage and see all your favourite bands

and stuff, and it's really fun.

Well, the fun's not over, because I've got one final surprise.

from a very, very special VIP area - so VIP I'm not even allowed to go.

There's only one way to end a day like this,

and that's for Sami, Nadia and Dad to rock out to their favourite band.

Meanwhile, back at the house,

the team have been working their socks off,

and the outer structure of the den has been built.

But it's the inside that's proving a massive challenge for builder Nick.

Sami and Nadia are going to be making some serious noise in this den,

and it's really important that the sound stays inside.

What is the soundproofing going to be like in here?

It's going to be really good.

We've started off with a really, really heavy base.

Now, when you've got a real strong concrete floor, it stops vibration.

Now, sound is vibration.

The aim here is to find a way to absorb a huge amount of sound

and stop the noise getting out of the den.

Nick and his team do this by using a mixture of different materials

and gaps of air to absorb the racket

created by Sami and Nadia's instruments.

So, basically, you just put this stuff in?

No, this is one of the products -

you try and dampen the sound, so the more you can dampen the better.

As a really good analogy -

you get a cymbal and you hit a cymbal, sound resonates.

Hold the cymbal as tight as you can with your fingers, hit it again,

and you don't really hear anything - and that's what you try to do,

you try and make two products that you put together

so stiff that they can't vibrate.

Cure the vibration, cure sound transfer.

While Nick and his team work on the inside,

the rest of the Dengineers paint the outside of the den.

This is the last time Sami and Nadia will see the den

until the big reveal - but no rest for the wicked,

because Olga's got something for them to work on away from the build.

Sami and Nadia, I've got this cool idea for the upcycle for your den.

We're going to use those old school vinyl records

and change them into your very own rock and roll wall of fame.

-That sounds really cool.

-Interesting!

From looking like that...

they're going to look like this.

That's really good!

For this upcycle, Olga is using some card

and a selection of old music records...

Engelbert Humperdinck.

That's a funny name!

..and she plans to turn them into a musical wall of fame

with loads of key dates from rock and roll history.

After the records have been cleaned up,

it's protective masks on for a spot of spray painting!

You put the vinyl into the box...

..and then you're spraying it really gently, right?

Remember, guys, Olga is a trained expert

when it comes to spray painting, so no trying this at home!

Ta-da!

-Oh, that's really cool.

-Wow!

Later on, we're going to have all of these spray painted with labels.

it's going to be amazing - you're going to love it!

-MARK:

-With the guys working against the clock

to get the upcycle finished,

I catch up with Mum and Dad to get the lowdown on Sami and Nadia.

Where does their love of music come from?

We play music a lot in the house,

so the kids grew up with music, basically.

They wake up to it,

when they come home after school we have a music session.

We listen to music - sometimes we'll play, so...

-Are you good?

-No!

In my head I am, but no-one else says I am,

so the answer probably is no!

Dad, are you more ecstatic about losing the noise

or the fact that you're going to get to go in there and play instruments?

Oh, I think the latter, for sure!

I can't wait! I mean, I'm keeping quiet for now, but I can't wait.

What difference do you think the den's going to make to them?

Well, I think it's going to be great for them to have lots of space

where they can crank it up as loud as they want

and they can just have a good old rocking session

without worrying about anybody, you know, moaning about the noise.

Have you got any fears with the den?

Well, I think the fact that we're trusting Sami and Nadia

to design it is a concern!

I mean imagine this -

they design a den and it's all orange.

Who'd want that?!

So, yeah, I have some concerns and fears,

and they're keeping me up at night for now, but we'll wait and see.

It's been a long day,

and the Dengineers have made great progress -

but there's still loads to do,

and with just two days until the big reveal,

work carries on well into the night.

A new day, and it brings the arrival

of the most important part of the den...

the amp wall.

And Dad, you needn't worry about it being orange, because...

Oops! It's bright orange.

Keep going, guys, come on. Through here.

Well done, that's great.

The team need to get the wall through the house

and into the back garden,

so they can fit it onto the main structure.

Careful here.

This is the crucial part of the den,

and will transform it from a basic music room into a rocking amp.

This is really tense moment.

If it gets damaged here, we are in big trouble!

That's it, guys - nice and careful.

It looks amazing!

Just straight to the end, guys.

(I hope it doesn't break.)

It's so heavy, they could drop it any time.

Now. together...

-Down.

-Is that it, then, yeah?

-No, that's not it.

-That's not it?!

-What do mean, it's not it?

-There's another half coming.

-There's another one of them?

Oh, that's what they say, don't they?

The Dengineers don't do things in halves, eh?!

Ha, ha!

Both pieces of the wall have made it into the back garden

thanks to a huge effort from the team.

No breaks, no scratches - great job!

But now we've got the hard bit - putting this thing together,

cos that is not going to be easy.

This part of the den is seriously heavy.

and when the two pieces are put together,

it weighs a whopping 150kg.

Securing it to the main structure is going to be a massive job,

and there are some anxious faces amongst the Dengineers team.

Are you nervous at all?

I am a bit nervous, yeah.

Get it up high. Still got it, yeah?

Well done. Well done.

Nice and easy, onto the painter.

Onto the painter.

Everyone needs to work together to get the job done...

OK, it's coming in, it's fine.

..and after a bit of good old-fashioned elbow grease,

the two pieces are in position on the den,

and ready to be connected.

But then...

-Push!

-Argh!

-Oh, it's tight.

Dengineers, we have a problem!

-Is it?

-It's fine!

That was a close one!

The piece dropped - but luckily nothing's broken off.

Lift it at the back where you are.

OK. OK.

Be careful with your fingers.

-You all right?

-There you go, there you go.

-Yes, it's in!

-Yeah. Well done, lads.

Yes!

The wall fits and it's in position on the den.

Add some screws...

..a few dials and jack to replicate a real life amp, and it's job done.

Great work, team!

The exterior of the den is looking great,

so the team's attention goes to the inside,

where they spend the rest of the day finishing off the walls -

and that gives us some time for a den hack.

Mum and Dad, you'll love this one.

Imagine a world without cables and wires.

This is the hair bobble hack.

You need to unplug something and you unplugged the wrong thing,

you need to organise those cables.

Using these...

Pick two bobbles of the same colour...

..wrap around both ends of the cable...

then, when you're unplugging something,

you know exactly which colour to unplug.

It works with anything electrical.

Laptop...

tablets...

..and my personal favourite, the hairdryer.

No need to thank me - it's all part of the Dengineer service.

It's the day of the big reveal,

and the Dengineers are working flat out

to get the inside of the den done...

-Have you got it now, yeah?

-Yeah.

'..and away from the den,

'me, Sami and Nadia put together a cool couch...'

It keeps moving!

'..which isn't as easy as it looks.'

This is so annoying!

As the reveal creeps even closer,

its all hands to the pump to get everything done...

Oh, yes. Oh, yes - we're down here!

'..and after some final finishing touches,

'the den is complete.'

This space used to be home to the garden shed -

but not any more.

Olga and the Dengineers have worked their magic,

and after four tonnes of concrete,

500 metres of timber and hundreds and hundreds of screws,

they've built an amazing den fit for the noisiest of rock stars.

Sami and Nadia! Come and see your den!

Oh, wow!

Wow, wow, wow!

-That's amazing!

-That is amazing!

-You wanted an amp on the front...

-Yeah.

-Is that an amp?

-Yes!

-It's pretty good, right?!

-Yeah!

Oh, my gosh, that's so cool!

-It's really cool, isn't it?

-Awesome.

Sami and Nadia now have an amazing space

where they can compose and rehearse their music.

Inspired by their love of loud music,

the front of the den has supersized control dials

and a giant audio jack, giving the impression of a real life amp.

And it gets even better on the inside.

Oh, wow!

Wow!

-Oh...

-Amazing!

I'm speechless.

-That's like...

-Look at that! Look at that.

It IS from Download! It's from our day out.

This is what we did with Olga.

As well as their rock and roll hall of fame upcycle,

Sami and Nadia have loads of cool lighting...

a board to compose their music...

and have customised logos all over their den.

-Drum kit!

-Oh, it says...it says Rock Den!

So you've basically got your own branded kit now,

-like a proper, proper operation.

-Yeah!

Sami and Nadia's drumming in the house

is so loud that they have to use electric drums with headphones...

..but that's not a problem now -

with this soundproof den, they can now have a real drum kit!

How cool is that?

That is amazing - we can barely hear anything!

Think if that was in your bedroom in the house,

what would your mum be saying?

She'd be screaming.

She'd be like, "Turn it down! I don't want to hear it!"

But out here you can make all of the noise you want.

The den has passed the Ozzy soundproof test with flying colours.

So, you're happy with your den?

-BOTH:

-Yeah, this den is done!

-Awesome!

-Right, yes!

-Love it!

I never thought, ever, that we'd have anything like this -

and it's just been the best experience ever.

It's been great to see the process of building it,

and meeting everyone.

-DAD:

-I think this den is a genius, genius idea,

to do it in the shape of an amp.

The shape of it, the look of it, the colours -

it's absolutely fantastic.

-NADIA:

-Because we never agree on anything,

it's good that there's finally one thing that we actually agree on,

that this is the best den anybody could ever have.

They are going to have the best time in that den.

I know, I absolutely loved it -

and after my performance,

it won't be long before I'm fronting my own band.

-Ooh, I got a text!
