at an American football game.

You'll be selling to up to 10,000 hungry fans.

Americans love their football.

It's the number one sport.

And the teams will be trading here at Princeton Stadium,

home to one of the best universities with a football team to match.

Sapphire and Aspire will sell food in the middle of a big game.

I've seen so many American football games in films and stuff.

We're going to experience selling things.

I feel quite excited.

I really think we can pull this off and win.

Before you start buying,

I'll show you how some of the best traders in the world do it.

The teams are going to see how the New Yorkers trade.

and millions are sold at American football games.

-Are you guys ready to make pretzels?

Pretzels are baked like bread and are savoury or sweet.

You want to U-shape it, throw a right hand underneath my left,

and then place it right in the middle. Now who wants to try?

-I made it look easy, didn't I?

-Very!

All that pretzel making has given them an appetite.

Our next stop is to meet the king of the New York sandwich deli.

-What are you here for? To bother me?

-We want all your trading secrets.

Sandy Levine knows all about great service and happy customers.

When you're in business, if you have the best product, the best food,

the best service, the best ambience,

you've got to get that message across.

The one thing I've learned today is

make sure the customer is always right.

We've got to know a bit more about New York the city and its customers

and trading tips. That'll help us a lot.

Sapphire and Aspire have seen how the New Yorkers do it.

Now it's time to do their own trading.

Today we're leaving Manhattan and heading to Princeton University.

It's where they're going to trade.

Wow! It's big.

In this stadium, there will be thousands of hungry fans

watching one of the biggest football games of the season.

It's the challenge of a lifetime.

Here's your trading fund. 200. You've done your research.

He's the Director of Dining here. You'll negotiate with him

OK, so here we are in Studio 34.

We've put all the products you'll be able to sell right here.

Sapphire and Aspire will be selling cookies, sweets

and the American favourite, pretzels.

The number one seller at any sporting event is a salted pretzel.

This is something new - a cinnamon sugar twist pretzel.

Since we don't sell it here, it's something to think about.

It's never been sold at the game.

I wonder if they'll risk trying out this new product.

I'd try them. They're new and students might be attracted.

How much do you sell cookies at?

These we sell for 3 a bag.

These we would sell for 2.

Chocolate chunk cookies sold very well.

We did not sell the others. That's something to think about.

'I'm really impressed with the questions they've asked of Stu.'

Fantastic start. The teams must decide what they want to buy

and then negotiate with Stu.

Remember, they've got 200 to spend. That's around £120.

Sapphire's up first.

OK.

-Are we ready to make a deal here?

-Are you ready for us?

-I think so.

-Your best deal. Let's see where we go.

-OK.

-We'll start with the salt pretzels, the most popular item.

-Yes.

You're giving that to us for 0.75 each,

-but we'd like 40 cents each.

-'40 cents?!

-'That's almost half the asking price.'

-That's a little too low.

-Let me tell you, I'm from New York.

-Yeah.

-OK?

We don't negotiate very well. The best I can do is 50 cents.

-45.

-I think 45 sounds good.

-Maybe you have a hearing problem.

-I said 50 was the best I could do.

-All right. Thank you.

-Very good.

'That's half a dollar. These New Yorkers are tough.'

Then the cinnamon twist. You want 1 each, we're requesting 50 cents.

-Best I can do is 75.

-70.

'Always the cheeky one, Sonali is at it again

-'for an even lower price.'

-75.

-OK, meeting us halfway.

'Next, the girls want 50 chocolate chip cookies.'

They're 1.25 each. We want them for 0.75 each.

I can go to a dollar from 1.25.

-'The girls are now down to their last 16.'

-Finally, the sweets.

They are 5 a pound. We'd request them for 3.50 a pound.

'A pound is just under half a kilo.'

I can go to 4.50 a pound, but that's the tops.

-4? We're going to buy loads, so...

-OK, you got your 4.

-Thank you!

'I can't believe it. Tough Stu gave in and went below his best offer.

'Sapphire's really charmed him.'

-200.

-Thank you.

-Good deal.

-Very good doing business with you.

I'm very impressed with Sapphire's negotiation. They were confident,

smiley, happy, with a clear plan.

And they negotiated some great discounts.

But will their selection of goods prove a hit with hungry fans?

Next, it's Aspire's turn to buy.

We're nervous about negotiating. Negotiation isn't our strong point,

so we'll need to do good.

It might not be your strong point,

but Stu's tough and you've got to get the best deals.

-First, they want to buy 30 bags of cookies.

-Those are 1.50.

-OK, what about 1.20 each? 1.25?

-1.20 or 1.25?

-1.20.

-It looks like Aspire can't decide on what offer to make.

Are nerves getting to them? The secret to a good negotiation

is the confidence to ask for big discounts.

But they are being bold. They're buying every type of cookie.

-Five of each, please.

-But can they negotiate a good deal?

They are...1.25 each.

-Right.

-Could we get them for 1.20?

-That's what you want?

-You got it.

-'1.20? That's just 5 cents off each cookie,

'compared to Sapphire's 25 cents.

'Come on, Aspire. Negotiate harder on the pretzels.'

-They were 75.

-Would you give us them for 60 each?

-I can do that. I'll give it to you for 60.

-'That's better negotiating,

'but Sapphire got them for 50 cents each.'

We'd also like 50 cinnamon pretzels.

You have them at 1. What about 75 cents?

OK. You can have those.

If you want money off, you've got to ask for it.

I feel Aspire are too scared to ask for those big discounts.

They won't get as much as Sapphire.

-200. That's a good deal.

but they bought all five varieties of cookies. That's a big risk.

Sapphire have also bought 50 cinnamon pretzels,

but they're playing it safe, buying 88 salted pretzels.

They've got less variety of cookies,

but they've gone big on the popular chocolate chip.

So it's Sapphire's bulk buying best sellers versus Aspire's variety.

Selling to 10,000 people is quite nerve-racking,

but I'm actually really excited.

It's an amazing challenge, nothing like anything I've done before.

Aspire, Sapphire, here you are, it's your final challenge.

The team that makes the most money wins the challenge

and will be Britain's Best Young Traders.

Aspire and Sapphire will be selling at the entrance to the stadium.

With fans still arriving, they have to set up quickly.

It's going really well. We're setting up while the customers come in.

We're nearly there. We've got a bit more to do.

Sapphire, your stall looks fantastic.

Tell me what price you'll sell at.

We want to keep it really simple, so everything is 3.

We'll make about 600 if we sell every item at 3.

Sapphire have a clear strategy. Very simple pricing.

They know they'll make about 600 if they sell everything.

A clear plan and a great start.

But Aspire's ready as well and Adil is working out price strategies.

A pretzel is 3. If you buy two, you get it for 5.50.

It's 50 cents, but the customer feels they're getting it cheap.

The fans are here, tension's in the air

and the stalls are set. It's time to trade.

Both teams get off to a great start.

I just made my first sale. It was really good.

-We're doing a deal - both pretzels for 5.50.

-Oh, a deal!

-Then give me one of each.

-Aspire's deal seems to be working.

Amazing. Off to a flying start.

We didn't think we'd get many sales in the first half hour,

but we've made quite a bit. It's going really well.

Hope Princeton win!

The game's starting in 10 minutes and the crowds are still arriving.

Everything's 3. Just say, "Can I get you some snacks?"

Bismah, as always, takes charge.

Where's Sonali going?

She's got the take-out cart, selling at the gate.

Good thinking. Selling at the gates as the fans arrive.

Looks like Sonali's tactic is getting the cinnamon pretzels sold.

Excuse me, sir. Would you like anything?

Aspire has not spotted what Sapphire is up to. Are they losing out?

-Would you like any confectionery?

-I got some.

With Sonali at the gates, customers aren't getting to the other stall.

-Excuse me. Would you like a look at our stall?

-No, thank you.

Aspire's realised what's going on.

Michael and Francesco head for the gates and get in on the action.

-Are they free?

-No.

My friend, I ate too much lunch.

But is it all too late? The game's started.

Back at the stalls, Sapphire's pretzels are very popular.

We're getting lots of customers and lots of attention.

-The more the merrier!

-Aspire could have lost out at the gates.

They've got to catch up. Francesco's running into the stadium!

It's not even half-time. People are still watching the game,

but where's he going now?

-Have you got any spare megaphones?

-A megaphone! Great idea, Francesco.

-I'll give you it back later!

-Thanks.

-COOKIES!

-They'll hear that in the next state!

-Come and get your cookies!

-That's so cool.

-Can I have some?

-You can. That's 4.

-OK.

4? Francesco's just raised the price by a dollar.

I said 4 and people are cool with it. They said OK.

That's cheeky, but it's doing the trick.

It's almost half-time - the busiest time to sell.

Which team will make the most of it?

It's half-time in about a minute. A lot of rush is going to come.

Sounds like Sapphire have got a plan.

-Would anyone like some quick snacks? Avoid the queues.

-Come on, sir.

Bismah and Sonali try to catch the fans as they leave the stadium,

but it's hard work.

We're trying to sell, but they're rushing to the bathroom.

So I think we'll head for the stadium instead

where people are sitting down.

But Sapphire could have left it too late.

-Cookies and pretzels!

-Francesco has already sold to these fans.

Sapphire have to go over to the quieter side of the stadium.

Some pretzels and snacks?

-How many?

-Who's the boss here?

-We're both bosses.

-You get the money, then.

-Thank you.

They raise their prices, too. They bought for less than Aspire,

-so that means bigger profits.

-That will be 8.

Normally they're 3.

The little guy asked me for two pretzels and I sold them for 8.

With these higher prices,

Sapphire might make even more than the 600 they aimed for.

-How much are the pretzels?

-4.

-Sorry?

-For a pretzel?

-I'll give it to you for 3.

-I don't think so.

Not everyone's going for the price increases.

Has coming out later than Francesco cost them valuable sales?

Back at the stalls, business is going strong for both teams.

But half-time's over and Adil's noticed

their cookies haven't been selling.

Mainly the pretzels are selling, not cookies.

Those cookies need to be sold. Michael's on a special mission.

-How much?

-They're 4.

-OK.

That's 3.

Looks like Michael's on a roll, but the clock is ticking.
