Only 27 young trainers and their dogs made it here.

Today, three semi-finalists will be learning another stupendous stunt.

Led by Ashleigh Butler and expert dog trainer Steve Mann

it's all to play for as our returning three teams try to win

an all-important place in the final. Which team will work out a treat?

Today our three trainers face an even tougher challenge

-than they did in their heats.

-Has Pudsey shrunk?!

-No, he hasn't.

And the buggy - has that shrunk?

-No, I'm on my scooter today.

-How's Sully going to get around?

I'll get the buggy.

Anyway, this is my new puppy Sully. He's coming with me today.

Let's look at our semi-finalists and see their journey so far.

Katie and Dazzle had a very difficult challenge in the heats.

Dazzle was a bit over-excited at times, but, amazingly,

at showtime they catapulted themselves into the semi-finals.

It's cool to be back in the Dog House.

Out of loads of dogs, I'm in the top nine. I can't wait for the trick.

In the barrel balancing challenge, Imogen had real trouble

keeping Millie on that barrel.

But with a lot of hard work from Imogen,

Millie finally found her confidence and they rolled their way through.

Come on, girl.

I'm really pleased that we made it into the semi-finals.

Anneka and Jet went skateboarding in their heats.

But Jet was a bit reluctant to push the board along with his paws.

This time he's not going to do it.

But when showtime came, Anneka's hard work paid off

and Jet was skateboarding like a pro.

It's amazing to be back

because it's great to learn a new trick.

So what new trick will they be learning? Here comes Ashleigh

-with expert Steve to reveal all.

-Hi, guys.

-Great to see you all again. How are you?

-Good.

-That's what I like.

This is my favourite challenge.

You'll combine lots of skills and tricks, put them all together

and star in a blockbuster movie.

-Anneka and Jet, you'll star in a love story.

-OK.

Imogen, Millie, superheroes for you.

And Katie and Dazzle, a nice medieval fantasy.

OK? What you're going to do is put five tricks together,

tell the story with those tricks and then make a nice little movie.

You'll be on a film set.

There will be loads of cameras and props, so they might get distracted.

When it comes to showtime, you can't stand near your dogs.

-Shall we get started?

-Let's do it.

-Let's go!

The storyboards show the trainers the five tricks they need to do.

In Katie's exciting medieval fantasy

Dazzle will rescue a princess held captive by a dragon.

Dazzle can do the catapult,

but there's an extra thing to add on now. You'll be three metres away.

-Do you think she can do that?

-Maybe.

-It'll take a lot of practice.

So out of these other two props, which do you think will be hardest?

I think maybe that one because she has to climb and grab.

Shall we just have a bit of a... Sorry, Princess.

..a bit of a game of Fetch just so she gets used to her? Oh, hello!

-"I like you."

-Dazzle! That's not how you treat royalty!

If we throw it, we'll see if Dazzle will bring it back.

-Go get it. Good girl! Call her back.

-Dazzle, come.

-Good girl!

Loads of praise. She's chewing her arm. Oh, the hand's gone.

Right, let's just take that away.

Oh, dear. Trying to eat the leading lady is not a good start.

-See if she'll take her from there.

-Go get it. Good girl.

Easy. Well done. Try to get that treat in a bit quicker

so she doesn't eat her. You're supposed to be saving her.

If she does that at showtime, it won't be that good.

Not that good? It'll be a disaster!

Now it's Imogen and Millie's turn. They have a superhero movie

where Millie hears that an evil villain is stealing dog treats.

Millie leaps into action!

-What do you think is trickiest?

-Spinning over distance.

OK, let's have a look at the spin.

-Millie, spin.

-Good.

-Good girl.

-This time, do another couple of spins.

Each successful one, take half a step back. Let's have a go.

Millie, spin. Good girl.

-Spin. Good girl.

-OK.

-Don't have treats in your hand.

-OK.

She's following that too much. You have a nice, clear hand signal.

-Reward the behaviour, don't lure it. Then you can get distance.

-Hey!

It's fine. Getting used to the prop.

The best bit was finding out our trick. I think Millie can do this.

Finally, it's Anneka and Jet and their love story.

In this movie, Jet falls in love and goes for a present for his lady.

Anneka thinks the most difficult part is picking the bone up.

-From the others?

-Yes.

-Let's get as much interest in this as possible.

-You know how to do that. Have a play.

-Throw it down.

-Chase.

And then get it back, get it back. Pick up Jet's lead.

Play, play, play at home. When he's most into it, grab it.

I want Jet to go, "Where's the toy?"

Then the next time you bring it out, "Yay!" Crazy Anneka again.

-What else have we got to do?

-Jump on the box with it in his mouth.

-Let's have a look at that. Two feet up. Good. Treat.

-Stay.

-Good.

-And remember you have to be out of that shot.

-So work on that, but sneak yourself away a little bit.

-Stay.

Then say, "Good." And then come back and reinforce.

I'm not really sure if I can make it all the way to the final

because me and Jet might not be able to do all the parts.

Training can be a lot of hard work,

so it's important to take time out, relax and play with your dog.

Isn't that right, Puds?

Ever thought how clever Collies are herding all those stupid sheep?

Well, meet Billy the Soay sheep. Sheep aren't so stupid after all.

Ah, the leg weave. Most of you will only have seen a dog do this...

..until now!

In fact, I don't think many dogs in the world can do all Billy's tricks.

This poor Collie is tiring herself out trying to outsmart him.

Back outside, it's raining, but our trainers are hard at work.

-How's Dazzle been getting on?

-She's really getting on the wall

instead of putting two feet on it, but she's doing OK.

She needs to put two paws on, then wait as long as possible.

Come. Touch.

-Ha! No, don't give her a treat for that one.

-Good girl!

-Wait.

-Good. Give her a treat.

-Good girl!

-I liked your wait command.

-OK, carry on.

-OK.

-How has Millie been doing?

-OK.

-What have we been doing with her?

-Trying to get her to lay down here.

She gets up, she just doesn't go down. Shall we take a look?

-Go on, down. Good girl.

-Yeah. Because you've got these arms here

she can't do it. Try to lay her out to the front. Try that.

-Take her off.

-Good girl.

-Jump back up. Good.

-Down. Down.

-Good girl! Loads of praise, OK? Well done.

Another problem solved by Ashleigh. Next up is Anneka and Jet.

-Shall we look at what you're up to?

-Good job.

Good. Good boy. Loads of praise. Try to be quicker with that treat.

Be totally clear. You throw it, he gets it, brings it back.

He drops it and then you treat. Just focus on that.

Guys, you're all doing absolutely brilliantly. I'm going to leave you.

Make sure you go home and do as much training as possible.

My plan for training is to do a little bit often

and because there's lots of bits to it, we'll keep working on them.

Training this morning went really well. I'm feeling quite excited.

The trick is a challenge.

My plan is to get Dazzle used to the objects and then start her on them.

# Who let the dogs out? #

Our three movie dogs all have different personalities,

abilities and skills, so let's see how they all compare.

Here are their Mutt Measurements.

First, we have Dazzle, the one-year-old Border Collie.

Dazzle gets very excited about any kind of game,

especially if it involves princesses! Luckily,

Border Collies are often extremely intelligent,

but at show time will Dazzle dazzle her audience or get too excited?

Hmm.

Now Jet is a Swedish Vallhund.

Vallhunds are usually very eager to please and that sums Jet up.

Jet loves Anneka so much, sometimes he's so busy looking at her

that he falls over. He sounds perfect for a romantic lead,

but let's hope he looks where he's going.

And finally we have Millie, the Miniature Labradoodle.

Labradoodles are usually very playful and outgoing dogs.

This is true for Millie. Her favourite things are new tricks

and putting on performances. That sounds perfect for this challenge.

Just so long as she doesn't go all diva on us! You know?

One week later, they're back. Ashleigh sees how they've got on.

Good. Right. She's not really sure where she's supposed to go round.

-So give her the treat.

-She was doing it at home.

-Was she?

A different environment. Hello!

Where are we at?

For the medieval fantasy, Dazzle is learning two of the five tricks

to rescue the princess - looking out and jumping the wall.

Let's have a look. Impress me.

-Go on.

-OK.

Good girl.

Go!

-Good girl!

-I like it!

-That little jump was nice.

For the shot that we want, we need Dazzle in the middle of the wall.

This isn't going to be good enough.

Consider putting a blockade here.

-Ta-da! There you go.

-Perfect.

Ashleigh's got this from when she went trick or treating. Right.

She has to work around the cone to get to the middle of the wall.

OK. Come. Wall.

-There you go. And then boom.

-Good girl.

-Good.

Not bad. That's a fair bit of homework.

I do think I can make it to the final if I try hard enough with Dazzle,

but I need to work on the wall a bit. But she's doing fine.

Let's find out how Anneka and Jet are doing with the love story.

One of Jet's tricks is to select the right present

to give to his lovely lady.

Send Jet in from this side for me.

You're going to be off-camera, which is what we want.

Jet, present. Present. Present leave. Present.

Good, good, good. Very good.

Well done, Jet. He picked up that bone and ignored all the other toys.

-That's excellent.

-Really good.

-But I want to push a little bit more.

I want Jet to get the bone, come up on to the counter from this side,

so he's facing our shopkeeper, as far as our movie is concerned.

So send him in, pick up the bone, on to the counter.

Present! Present! Good. Box.

-Good. Very good.

-Not too bad.

-I need you to work on your distance.

-Yeah.

-And a little bit more duration.

-Yeah.

So the bone on the counter, look good for the camera... And cut!

The session went really well.

Jet was holding the bone and jumping up and he's never done that before,

so that was quite surprising.

For Imogen and Millie's superhero movie,

Millie needs to master the barrel trick,

so she can stop the evil villain in his tracks and save the dog treats.

Now, what have you been struggling on?

Getting Millie to go on the barrel with me a long distance from her.

-It's just the distance. Steve, take it away.

-Let's have a look, Imogen.

-Impress us. Up on the barrel...

-On, on!

-OK, good.

-Good girl. Come on.

-OK.

-Come on, come on.

-Good.

-OK, that's fine. Good girl.

-Lovely.

That's not a bad place to start from.

-We just need to get you out of frame a bit more.

-Yeah.

-Have you used a target stick?

-No.

-Do you know what it is?

-Yeah.

-A good trainer always has a target stick.

-I don't know what it is.

-I hope someone is going to explain how to use it!

-OK, so, Imogen,

encourage Millie to put her nose on this part of the target stick.

When she puts her nose on, say "good", then give her a treat.

Say "good" the second it touches her nose,

then when that's nice and fluent, we're going to get her on the barrel

and you'll do the same principle with the target stick,

but you can have your body further back

and we can raise that target stick.

If we can do that correctly, you'll be completely out of frame

and Millie will work the barrel as she needs to for the movie.

Oh, I get it! Millie can focus on the end of the stick

instead of the treat in Imogen's hand. A-ha! Clever!

-Off you go.

-Good girl.

-And treat.

-Good girl.

-Brilliant.

We'll move the barrel out of the equation.

-Millie...

-Let me have a look. Good.

-Good girl.

-Hide the stick, deliver the food.

-Good.

Go away and have a little practice with that touch stick.

At home, I'm going to work on Millie touching the target stick,

then doing the barrel at a distance.

This is my new puppy Sully and he's going to be helping me out today.

We're going to talk a bit about crate training.

Now, I make sure that when I'm crate-training,

I make the crate as fun as possible, so his favourite toys are in there.

Everything that he absolutely loves is in his crate.

Shall we give you some food? What's this? Go on, in your bed.

Good boy. There you go.

Now that Sully is really confident in his crate

and he sleeps in there, that is when I start closing the door on him.

The reason I like crate training is if you're going out of the house...

Sully here is a bit naughty and he loves chewing things,

so just for his safety, I can put him in the crate

and I know that he's safe in there. Have a go yourself.

Dogs have a very good sense of direction,

but this clever dog you're about to see

could give a sat-nav a run for its money.

Meet Beau and his owner Ruth from Cornwall.

Even if you think you've had some pretty long journeys in your time,

you haven't got anything on Beau's amazing adventure.

Beau got a bit lost one day after chasing rabbits at the beach

and Ruth couldn't find him anywhere.

It was horrendous. I remember sitting in the car in tears,

just calling and calling to see if there was any sight of him.

Ruth searched the whole of the beach looking for Beau,

but had to return home without him, a whole 11 miles away.

For days, Ruth carried on searching,

and then she heard a whining at the door.

I opened it and there he was. He had his head down.

He was holding his feet up in turn because they were so sore.

He climbed straight up on to bed.

He was like, "Just leave me alone, I need to sleep."

Wow! What an incredible journey Beau must have had to get home to Ruth!

I wonder what on earth he got up to?

No sat-nav, kids. Just Beau's nose!

After two weeks of training,

it's judgment day for our three talented teams,

but only one of them can go through to the final.

The worst thing that could happen at showtime

would be if Millie fell off the barrel.

Whose movie will shine on the silver screen?

It would be absolutely amazing to get to the final.

It's been amazing to get this far,

so the final would be really, really good.

And whose movie will go straight to DVD?

It would mean everything to me to get into the final.

My friends would be proud of me. So would my mum and my dad.

And Dazzle will be really happy to be coming back here again.

It's time to find out.

This is the set where all our movies are going to be made.

Each movie will be made up of five tricks

and each trick will be a different scene in the movie.

Our teams will have two minutes to try and complete one scene

and me and Steve will judge them on their dogs' performances

and how quickly they make their movie.

Steve, hold on to your popcorn because it is showtime.

It's lights, cameras...

-BOTH: Action!

-Let's go!

Two weeks ago, Katie and Dazzle were given a medieval fantasy movie.

When we last saw them, they were doing pretty well,

but Dazzle does have a bad habit of chewing the leading lady.

Will she manage to save the princess

and save the day when it really matters?

Now, Dazzle's first scene involves putting two paws on the wall.

Wall!

Not bad, but she could have been closer to the middle of the wall.

Next, she has to jump over the wall.

Dazzle, come!

Yeah, no problem. Now she has to load the catapult.

Pick it up.

Good girl. Pick it up. Put it in.

A bit of hesitation, but she's done it.

-Will she fire the catapult as easily?

-Push!

Again a bit of hesitation, but she got there.

Nice one, Dazzle.

Can Dazzle fetch the princess without stopping for a nibble?

Well done, Dazzle. I can't wait to see this. Roll the movie!

'Help, someone! Help! An evil dragon has kidnapped me.

'Aaagh!

'Aaagh!'

'Oh, thank you, kind dog. Will you take me to my prince?'

And they all lived happily ever after. Great work, Dazzle.

Our next movie makers are Imogen and Millie.

When we last saw them, Millie was having trouble barrel-balancing

with distance from Imogen, but their time is up. Have they mastered it?

In their first scene, Millie has to sit in her chair and stay.

Easy!

Now she has to go to a special superhero spot and stop.

Come on. Good girl.

-Oh, no, she's over-shot!

-Good girl. Millie!

Now she's going the wrong way! This will lose her points.

Oh, dear, she's over-shot again!

This isn't good. At last, Millie!

Millie's third scene involves spinning on her spot five times.

Come on, Millie.

Two...

Three...

Four.

One more. Yes, well done, Millie.

The next two scenes are tough.

Millie has to balance on the barrel with Imogen out of shot,

then jump off the barrel to squash the villain.

Barrel-balancing is looking good.

Come on. Come on.

Yeah, she's squashed the baddie good and proper.

So let's see Millie's superhero movie. This is going to be good.

'We interrupt this programme for a news flash.

'An evil villain has raided the pet shop.' # Dan-dan-daan! #

'This is the news. An evil villain is now in prison,

-'thanks to a mysterious black dog who saved the day.'

-Good stuff, Millie!

Finally, we have Anneka and Jet and their love story.

Although Jet sailed through the training,

Anneka is worried that he could get distracted on set.

The first shot has Jet sitting staring out of the window.

Stay. Stay.

Stay.

Good work, Jet. No problems there.

The second scene involves a skateboard trip to the shops.

Stay.

-Stay...

-Perfect.

OK, come.

Next, Jet must pick out the bone with the bow from the other toys.

Present, present, present!

Wow! Jet has not made a single mistake yet.

Jet's next scene is the one

where he takes the bone to the shopkeeper to pay.

Stay.

-Stay.

-Fantastic. What was Anneka worrying about?

Now for the last shot.

-Jet has to drop the bone in front of his girlfriend.

-Jet, present!

Present! Present!

Come on, Jet. Concentrate!

Oh, no. Now where is he off to?

Oh, no, he's taking several takes to get this right.

This is going to cost him valuable points.

-Sit. Sit.

-Yes, at last!

Stay.

-Stay...

-He's done it. I do like a good "lurve" story!

'Hello, little Jet. What can I get you today?

'Ah, you must have a lady friend. How do you want to pay?

'I hope she likes it. Ta-ra, Jet!'

Another great movie. Well done, Jet and Anneka.

Well, they looked absolutely fantastic,

but I can now reveal that the winner of our semi-final

and going through to our grand final is...

..Katie and Dazzle!

-Very good.

-Well done.

But I must say, it was so, so close.

It certainly was. Even though Dazzle slightly hesitated on the catapult,

she scored high in her other tricks to secure that place in the final.

Some of the things your dogs did in those challenges were incredible.

All of you, fantastic. It was super close.

Katie, you're through to our final. How do you feel?

I feel amazing because I wanted to get this far.

-But the other dogs did their best as well.

-That is a lovely thing to say.
