Good morning and welcome to the programme where you can help the | :00:08. | :00:12.
police tackle crime head on. Coming up to date: Caught on camera, the | :00:13. | :00:19.
chilling moment and attacker carried off his victim. It's absolutely | :00:20. | :00:23.
vital we find out who this man is. Is clearly a very dangerous | :00:24. | :00:27.
individual. He might have done this before or he might do it in the | :00:28. | :00:33.
future. And Justice Victorian style - the police cells buried in the | :00:34. | :00:36.
heart of the city. You're watching Crimewatch Roadshow. | :00:37. | :01:01.
Hello and welcome to Crimewatch Roadshow. We're live and we need | :01:02. | :01:06.
your help to solve crimes that can affect each and every one of us. | :01:07. | :01:11.
Also wanted a's show. The restaurant workers ambushed on their way home. | :01:12. | :01:17.
With anything happens to me, just tell my wife that I love her because | :01:18. | :01:20.
I was just so fearful that this was it. Catching a flight of birds. | :01:21. | :01:25.
We're out on patrol with the team targeting those who dump their | :01:26. | :01:29.
rubbish and run. -- catching the fly-tipper is. What a beautiful | :01:30. | :01:35.
place. What a shame. Michelle is in lead city centre. Good morning | :01:36. | :01:41.
Good morning, Rav. On in the bowels of leads town hall, where some of | :01:42. | :01:45.
the original Victorian police cells are two top this town hall was built | :01:46. | :01:51.
in 1858 and opened by Queen Victoria. There was no expense | :01:52. | :01:53.
spared in its creation and we will be finding out how they used to dish | :01:54. | :02:01.
up justice here. Police need your help to identify | :02:02. | :02:05.
the man who attacked a young woman in Leeds city centre. The disturbing | :02:06. | :02:09.
moment when he carries his victim off was caught on CCTV. We've | :02:10. | :02:14.
changed the victim's name to protect her identity. I had a phone call | :02:15. | :02:21.
from my friend asking if I wanted to go into Leeds with him. We had a few | :02:22. | :02:26.
drinks in various bars until it got to about three or 4am. I could have | :02:27. | :02:35.
crashed it is that I had to work the next day so I wanted to go home. It | :02:36. | :02:39.
was the early hours of Friday morning when Helen began walking | :02:40. | :02:45.
home on her own. If I'm honest, I can't quite remember my exact route | :02:46. | :02:49.
home but I would normally walk up low Briggate onto Briggate. As she | :02:50. | :02:54.
walked, she found she was no longer alone. It is all a bit hazy but I do | :02:55. | :03:02.
remember a blackmail approaching me and trying to start up a | :03:03. | :03:10.
conversation. -- a black male. The man kept up with Helen as she headed | :03:11. | :03:16.
towards the head wrote it by now she was starting to get frightened. At | :03:17. | :03:20.
first I thought it was best to talk to him, for my own safety. Had I not | :03:21. | :03:24.
spoken to him, he could have been even more aggressive with me. The | :03:25. | :03:29.
man stayed by her side as she turned left onto the Headrow. I remember | :03:30. | :03:40.
walking past a statue and somehow he went off to the right, when I was | :03:41. | :03:44.
meant to go off to the left to get home. And that's when the man | :03:45. | :03:59.
struck. He picked up Helen and carried her into a nearby lane. It | :04:00. | :04:06.
was here that she was subjected to a horrific rape. | :04:07. | :04:14.
You hear things like this happening but never think it will happen to | :04:15. | :04:22.
you. I felt numb, angry and disgusting. The moment the attacker | :04:23. | :04:31.
carried Helen was caught on CCTV. I considered for a long time whether I | :04:32. | :04:35.
would release that. I didn't release it to start with because of the | :04:36. | :04:39.
picture that portrays but I need the public to understand what that was | :04:40. | :04:43.
about and the fact that this lady wasn't able to protect herself. And | :04:44. | :04:47.
it just shows the nature of this attack. Officers don't think that | :04:48. | :04:53.
this is a random attack and released footage from earlier that morning. I | :04:54. | :04:59.
think this has been planned. He's been out looking for a victim. | :05:00. | :05:04.
Obviously, a busy city centre, there are opportunities to prey on | :05:05. | :05:07.
vulnerable people who are making their way home. About 4:45am, we see | :05:08. | :05:13.
a male matching the description of the attacker acting strangely in a | :05:14. | :05:19.
car park behind the hotel in the city centre. We are able to track | :05:20. | :05:29.
him a bit further on to a street called Swinegate nearby, where we | :05:30. | :05:32.
see him trying to cost another female. It tries to put his arm | :05:33. | :05:37.
round her, she shrugs and walks off. This is prior to our victim being | :05:38. | :05:41.
attacked, so we are really keen to trace that Lady. She may may not | :05:42. | :05:46.
remember it and may not realise the significance of that interaction. | :05:47. | :05:53.
After the attack, I felt as though I'd lost my self-worth. I find it | :05:54. | :06:00.
hard to sleep. I have constant flashbacks. I didn't want to leave | :06:01. | :06:08.
my house alone. I felt so nervous all the time. I want this person to | :06:09. | :06:17.
understand his actions that night were totally acceptable. It's | :06:18. | :06:24.
absolutely vital we find out who this man is. He is clearly a very | :06:25. | :06:28.
dangerous individual. He may have done this before or he might do it | :06:29. | :06:31.
in the future so it's absolutely vital that if anyone has information | :06:32. | :06:36.
that is relevant, they contact us so we can fully research that and catch | :06:37. | :06:43.
him as soon as we can. This is an extremely distressing | :06:44. | :06:47.
incident. With me now is Detective Superintendent Patrick Twiggs. You | :06:48. | :06:51.
saw him in the film. You have released some extremely shocking | :06:52. | :06:55.
footage. What do we know about this man? We know he is an Afro-Caribbean | :06:56. | :06:59.
mail with a shaven head and we believe he is aged between 30 and 40 | :07:00. | :07:05.
years old, over 6'0" tall and other time of the attack he was wearing a | :07:06. | :07:08.
long, dark coloured trench coat which had the appearance of the | :07:09. | :07:15.
old-style dormant. What is really distressing about this is it seems | :07:16. | :07:17.
he was looking forward to attack that might. Yes, we believe this is | :07:18. | :07:24.
the case. Was the early hours of the 14th of August 2015 and we believe | :07:25. | :07:28.
ten to 15 minutes before the attack on our victim, he tries to cost | :07:29. | :07:31.
another lady in the street by putting a Zamorano. She shrugs off. | :07:32. | :07:40.
At the time, a taxi pulls up nearby. We are keen to hear from that lady | :07:41. | :07:44.
if she recognises herself or the man who gets out of the taxi or the taxi | :07:45. | :07:48.
driver himself, if he remembers everything that could help us. There | :07:49. | :07:52.
is a worry that he could do this again. Absolutely. We believe this | :07:53. | :07:57.
man is highly dangerous and it is important that we catch him as soon | :07:58. | :08:01.
as we can, however we do have a full DNA profile of the suspect. We've | :08:02. | :08:06.
searched that profile through our national DNA database and through | :08:07. | :08:09.
Interpol's databases around the world but we've not had any matches | :08:10. | :08:15.
so far so we are really keen from anyone who recognises this man to | :08:16. | :08:18.
come forward and give us some information. Just to recap, what is | :08:19. | :08:21.
it for viewers at home to be thinking about for this case? I'd | :08:22. | :08:26.
ask them to cast their mind back to last year, the middle of August, a | :08:27. | :08:29.
Thursday night going into the early hours of Friday morning. Were you | :08:30. | :08:34.
returning from a night out in the city centre? Were you going to work | :08:35. | :08:38.
early? In the area of Dortmund Square, do you remember seeing a man | :08:39. | :08:42.
dressed in this distinctive weight carrying a lady? If you do, please | :08:43. | :08:46.
come forward. If you recognise this man or you have concerns about | :08:47. | :08:50.
anybody, we have the means to limit people so please come forward. Thank | :08:51. | :08:54.
you very much. Rav, back to you. Take a final look | :08:55. | :08:59.
at that CCTV image. This man does need to be caught. If you know who | :09:00. | :09:02.
he is, get in touch using our usual numbers. | :09:03. | :09:06.
Time for today's round-up of crimes caught on camera, starting with an | :09:07. | :09:10.
unbelievable shooting in the West Midlands. | :09:11. | :09:14.
A nightclub in Wellington Street, Birmingham, back in 2014. Everyone | :09:15. | :09:20.
has gathered here for a birthday party but it all gets quite heated | :09:21. | :09:23.
when some people try and get in without paying. The people outside | :09:24. | :09:30.
storm the door but that makes this guy lose the plot. He is holding a | :09:31. | :09:35.
sawn off shotgun and fires recklessly into the Crouch. | :09:36. | :09:40.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt. -- into the crowd. Here he is earlier in the | :09:41. | :09:46.
night on his way into the club. Do you recognise him? Pick up the | :09:47. | :09:54.
phone. Ballards Lane in Barnet, north | :09:55. | :09:58.
London. These four men are hanging around outside a convenience shop. | :09:59. | :10:02.
They forcibly peel open the shutter and one of them scoots underneath. | :10:03. | :10:08.
He's not here for his five day, though, as avoids the fruit and veg | :10:09. | :10:12.
and looks for something of higher value. He slides five grand's worth | :10:13. | :10:17.
of tobacco under the shutter to his mates. They all grab their fill and | :10:18. | :10:23.
scuttle off further down the road. They also caused over a grand's | :10:24. | :10:28.
worth of damage. These four were more of an inconvenience to this | :10:29. | :10:36.
store. Shop them now. -- more than an inconvenience. | :10:37. | :10:39.
It is coming up to Christmas last year and this fella is out shopping | :10:40. | :10:44.
in the Trafford centre, Manchester. He is after a pair of tablets, so he | :10:45. | :10:50.
signs a contract. This all seems quite normal but the only problem | :10:51. | :10:54.
is, police say he is using a stolen identity and stolen bank details. | :10:55. | :11:00.
The gadgets were worth 800 quid. Detectives want to know how he got | :11:01. | :11:04.
the fraudulent information. Call us now. | :11:05. | :11:11.
Anyone there you know? If so, get in touch now. Calls are free from | :11:12. | :11:18.
landlines and mobile phones. Or you can text us. Texts will be starch | :11:19. | :11:27.
that your standard method rate. Plus there is e-mail. -- charged at your | :11:28. | :11:33.
standard message rate. Michelle, you seem to be talking | :11:34. | :11:37.
rubbish today. I am indeed. This is one of Leeds's | :11:38. | :11:42.
in lorries, where a lot of ways that can't be recycled is meant to go. | :11:43. | :11:46.
That or unofficial waste site. Sadly, though, some people are | :11:47. | :11:51.
taking short cuts. Fly-tipping is becoming a real eyesore and a big | :11:52. | :11:55.
problem. We caught up with the team trying to catch the rubbish dumpers. | :11:56. | :12:00.
The fly-tippers, truly a menace to society. Last year in the Leeds area | :12:01. | :12:12.
alone, there were around 14,000 reported incidents of fly-tipping. | :12:13. | :12:19.
That's nearly 40 a day. Right, I'll see you there. On the front line in | :12:20. | :12:26.
the war against illegal dumping is environmental action officer Beverly | :12:27. | :12:30.
Kirk. Based at Wetherby police station, it's her job to track and | :12:31. | :12:35.
prosecute fly-tippers. And she's seen some strange things over the | :12:36. | :12:41.
years. We once had about nine tonnes of oranges dumped in Wetherby, down | :12:42. | :12:50.
a ditch. Which took about a week to clear. Some of the fly-tips can be | :12:51. | :13:01.
quite grim. I've had a bow out 150 rabbits dumped on a road. -- about. | :13:02. | :13:07.
I once had to arrange for a horse that had been fly-tipped in a big | :13:08. | :13:11.
lay-by. Who would fly-tipper a dead horse? Bears is determined to bring | :13:12. | :13:19.
fly-tippers to justice and today she is on the trail of a persistent | :13:20. | :13:22.
offender who she believes has struck again. So a fly-tipper will have | :13:23. | :13:31.
come all the way up this lane. I got to know about this fly-tip occurs a | :13:32. | :13:37.
resident that lives up yet reported it to us. All bears Meades is | :13:38. | :13:43.
evidence to big the suspect to the site. -- all Beverly needs. What a | :13:44. | :13:53.
beautiful place. What a shame. Time to get down and dirty with clean-up | :13:54. | :13:58.
team Ray and Winston. What we are looking out for is anything with an | :13:59. | :14:01.
address on it, then we can prosecute. We can give that Aaron | :14:02. | :14:05.
forced and officers and they can follow through. When we find | :14:06. | :14:08.
something, that makes us feel really good because they can get done for | :14:09. | :14:15.
it. Brilliant lads. They've had training about evidence and where | :14:16. | :14:18.
that can lead and they've really taken it on board. They're | :14:19. | :14:24.
brilliant. You will queue something up -- clear something up and it | :14:25. | :14:27.
happens again and sometimes it can be the same place and it is | :14:28. | :14:30.
frustrating because we take pride the work we do. Local residents are | :14:31. | :14:35.
certainly hoping the team can put a stop to the rubbish piles landing on | :14:36. | :14:40.
their doorstep. Iliffe about 100 yards away but unfortunately we | :14:41. | :14:43.
can't see this lane from our house so we are unaware of who put the | :14:44. | :14:47.
rubbish year. The fly-tipping actually appeared over the course of | :14:48. | :14:51.
one weekend and there was a small pile to start with our then an | :14:52. | :14:54.
enormous pile appeared a couple of days later. | :14:55. | :15:01.
All this waste will now go to landfill. It costs local authorities | :15:02. | :15:04.
millions of pounds to clear up. It could have been recycled. I've just | :15:05. | :15:11.
found something. Fantastic. Let's have a look. Yes, same address. | :15:12. | :15:20.
I really get a buzz when I find evidence. It's really exciting. With | :15:21. | :15:26.
potentially crucial evidence in her hands, Beverly can start to track | :15:27. | :15:29.
down the people responsible for making a mess of this beautiful part | :15:30. | :15:31.
of West Yorkshire. With me is new evidence, director of | :15:32. | :15:40.
environmental housing for Leeds, it's your job dementia rubbish is | :15:41. | :15:43.
collected an flight Abba is prosecuted, it's becoming a real | :15:44. | :15:50.
problem isn't it? -- flight tipper. It creates an eyesore, costs a lot | :15:51. | :15:56.
to clear up and can be dangerous. What type of people are doing this? | :15:57. | :16:00.
A mix, residents who are doing it too are not aware they can get bulky | :16:01. | :16:06.
waste collection. There are businesses trying to avoid the cost | :16:07. | :16:11.
of commercial disposal, and people taking away waste from residents. | :16:12. | :16:17.
You are taking a hard line on fly-tipping. We are, wherever we get | :16:18. | :16:22.
evidence we will issue a fixed penalty notice in the case of small | :16:23. | :16:28.
incidents. We will also take people to court. Fines can be up to | :16:29. | :16:32.
?50,000. We saw some incredible drone footage of fly-tipping next to | :16:33. | :16:38.
the River Thames, it chose the extent of damage to the environment, | :16:39. | :16:43.
what would your message be to fly to buzz. I would say, use our | :16:44. | :16:48.
facilities, and when you are disposing of waste, make sure you | :16:49. | :16:53.
are a legitimate business. I have no tolerance towards fly-tippers, we | :16:54. | :17:02.
always prosecute. Make sure you join me later, Rav, I'll get a guided | :17:03. | :17:07.
tour of the police cells at a former court here at Leeds town hall. | :17:08. | :17:12.
Still to come this morning, the restaurant workers held at gunpoint. | :17:13. | :17:19.
The only guns I've ever had pointed at me after Tory guns a real done | :17:20. | :17:26.
pointed at you, I can't explain how frightening. And the shocking hit | :17:27. | :17:33.
and run caught on CCTV. I remember hearing the Roaring engine of a car | :17:34. | :17:36.
and don't remember anything from there until waking up in hospital. | :17:37. | :17:44.
As we've been hearing through the series detectives to rely | :17:45. | :17:48.
increasingly on technology to solve crimes. It is something our next | :17:49. | :17:53.
guest only know too well. Michael Dixon from Acume and Professor | :17:54. | :17:59.
Hassan Ugail from the University of Bradford. With this impressive bit | :18:00. | :18:03.
of kit which I will come to. Michael, you and your team have | :18:04. | :18:08.
worked on some big high-profile cases. Over 400 murder cases, we | :18:09. | :18:12.
produced one of the first electronic or through presentations for the | :18:13. | :18:16.
trial of Ian Huntley at the Old Bailey for the Soham murders. What | :18:17. | :18:23.
is this? It's a custody camera, takes photographs of people brought | :18:24. | :18:26.
into custody, but where it's different if we have multiple | :18:27. | :18:31.
cameras so we can record the subject from five different angles, allowing | :18:32. | :18:35.
us to make comparisons to CCTV footage shot at any angle. It lends | :18:36. | :18:40.
itself to measuring facial biometrics. If someone was | :18:41. | :18:45.
subsequently bought into custody and put in front of the system it would | :18:46. | :18:50.
identify them, like a facial fingerprint. The quality of the | :18:51. | :18:53.
camera, the fact there are five angles, make it like a fingerprint | :18:54. | :18:57.
or if someone has been captured on this before even if they've given | :18:58. | :19:01.
another name you can recognise the same person again. Really | :19:02. | :19:04.
interesting. Explain to me, how is this different, how does it work? We | :19:05. | :19:11.
get five images, we feed those images. This is a 3-D map of the | :19:12. | :19:16.
face. We feed images to the computer and the computer learns about the | :19:17. | :19:20.
face. That particular face. They can use it to recognise faces and | :19:21. | :19:24.
identify faces. Imagine you have a case where you have partial | :19:25. | :19:28.
information from CCTV image, could be a cheap, and knows, part of the | :19:29. | :19:33.
eye, we can feed that into the machine and recognise if the person | :19:34. | :19:38.
is in the database. Even if you have CCTV, someone has been caught on | :19:39. | :19:43.
camera for an offence, your computer, after capturing someone, | :19:44. | :19:47.
could compare the two. It did, we have powerful algorithms to do that, | :19:48. | :19:53.
which humans cannot do. It's a really simple thing. Earlier Simon | :19:54. | :19:58.
one of our team members volunteered to have his image captured, we can | :19:59. | :20:04.
see him now. Very simple, series of different light looks at the camera, | :20:05. | :20:08.
has his picture taken similar to a passport photo. We can see the | :20:09. | :20:12.
images that come up. These are the things, you can draw insignificant | :20:13. | :20:16.
information from high-definition photographs. Often webcams are not | :20:17. | :20:27.
high resolution, this is high resolution, it can record scars and | :20:28. | :20:32.
cartoons, that sort of thing. Fascinating bit of kit you've | :20:33. | :20:36.
already had a lot of interest. -- scars and tattooed is. Your real one | :20:37. | :20:43.
is with the police force. It's being used by Leicestershire police, in | :20:44. | :20:46.
their custody suite, so we can have feedback on its operation. Brilliant | :20:47. | :20:51.
bit of kit, this really could be a very exciting thing for policing, it | :20:52. | :20:55.
really is fascinating stuff. Police in South Yorkshire need your | :20:56. | :21:05.
help to piece together the last few days of a man found dead in his home | :21:06. | :21:12.
in Doncaster in March. Christopher Cumpsty had been murdered and in the | :21:13. | :21:16.
week before his death he sustained multiple injuries. With me, | :21:17. | :21:19.
Detective Inspector Richard Partridge. What happened to | :21:20. | :21:25.
Christopher? Friday 11 March at 4:20am, Christopher was found at his | :21:26. | :21:31.
home address he was found dead, he sustained a number of injuries to | :21:32. | :21:36.
his head and body. You've pieced together some of his movements. The | :21:37. | :21:41.
investigation is centred on tracing his movements the week prior to his | :21:42. | :21:45.
death. At 6am on Wednesday 9th of March he was at Cusworth House in | :21:46. | :21:51.
Doncaster, whilst there, you can see CCTV images of him in the foyer, he | :21:52. | :21:57.
had bruising to his face. We would appeal to people to come forward to | :21:58. | :22:02.
speak to us about these bruises, how did he get the injuries? A few | :22:03. | :22:06.
minutes later he was helped to move his land by a member of the public, | :22:07. | :22:09.
we would appeal to that person to speak to us as a witness, tell us | :22:10. | :22:15.
what they've seen. Was it later that morning he was found hurt on the | :22:16. | :22:21.
floor? Around 1140 the same day he was found on another road a short | :22:22. | :22:24.
distance from his home address, with his bicycle, lying on the ground, we | :22:25. | :22:29.
would appeal people to come forward and tell us how that happened. There | :22:30. | :22:34.
is a male and female seen on CCTV shortly before and afterwards, they | :22:35. | :22:38.
may have crucial information as to what happened. Two days later he was | :22:39. | :22:44.
found dead in his home. You are appealing for any information. It's | :22:45. | :22:49.
crucial, homing in on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, any visitors to | :22:50. | :22:52.
Christopher's address, and anyone give us that crucial information? | :22:53. | :22:59.
Who would want to assault and kill Christopher, why did this happen? If | :23:00. | :23:03.
you are one of those potential witnesses, please do get in touch | :23:04. | :23:08.
with us. Rav? It would be nice to think we can leave our doors | :23:09. | :23:11.
unlocked and nothing bad would happen. For one elderly woman, being | :23:12. | :23:19.
so trusting was a costly mistake. 76-year-old Ineze has lived in | :23:20. | :23:28.
Batley for over 50 years. The garden is always covered with flowers. | :23:29. | :23:34.
Makes me happy. She suffers from severe arthritis and struggles to | :23:35. | :23:39.
get around, so relies on family and friends to look after her. If she | :23:40. | :23:46.
has appointments or anywhere to go, we usually take about, myself, my | :23:47. | :23:52.
husband or my sister. With so many family members coming and going, | :23:53. | :23:56.
Ineze would often leave her front door unlocked for them, despite | :23:57. | :24:01.
being warned against it. I had been reminding my mum to lock your doors, | :24:02. | :24:05.
especially being on the main road, but she comes from a generation | :24:06. | :24:09.
where people didn't used to lock their doors. The family have been | :24:10. | :24:14.
particularly worried about Ineze since the tragic death of her son, | :24:15. | :24:18.
Roy, who died of a heart attack in February. It was really traumatic, | :24:19. | :24:22.
Roy and my mum were close you could ring her ten times a day. -- he | :24:23. | :24:31.
would ring her. Just two weeks after his funeral, her trusting nature | :24:32. | :24:37.
made her a target for thieves. I was watching television, I hear the door | :24:38. | :24:44.
open for and I listen. And I say, who is it? Nobody did answer. It | :24:45. | :24:52.
just clicked in my mind, oh my God. My door was open. And me look back | :24:53. | :25:04.
and me see person standing on stairs. Me say, oh my God, I say, | :25:05. | :25:10.
what the hell are you doing on stairs? Me repeat and me repeating | :25:11. | :25:16.
myself over and over and over. And asking, what are you doing upstairs? | :25:17. | :25:21.
The man made his apologies, explaining he had been looking for | :25:22. | :25:24.
his grandmother, but had got the wrong house. I came down to the last | :25:25. | :25:33.
step. He was talking like that. I said, get your hands off me. A | :25:34. | :25:39.
second man was waiting in Ineze's garden. Get out my house! The | :25:40. | :25:46.
unwanted visitors left, leaving a shaken Ineze alone in the house. She | :25:47. | :25:51.
saw them drive off in a small black car. It was only later that day when | :25:52. | :25:58.
Ineze was finally able to get upstairs she discovered what the | :25:59. | :26:03.
intruder had really been looking for. He took my jewellery box with | :26:04. | :26:11.
all my jewellery. The chief had stolen nearly ?300 of Ineze's | :26:12. | :26:16.
journalist jewellery. I never thought something like this would | :26:17. | :26:20.
ever happened to me, I was so shocked to see that person upstairs, | :26:21. | :26:25.
standing looking out at me. In my own house. Since that incident, I | :26:26. | :26:34.
think she's feeling somewhat lonely. Not as trusting any more, she | :26:35. | :26:41.
certainly does lock the door. This has affected Ineze and her family | :26:42. | :26:46.
quite sincerely in fact Ineze was a very trustworthy lady, she's lived | :26:47. | :26:51.
in that community a long time. These offenders have been very blase, at | :26:52. | :26:54.
no time have they tried to hide their faces. It could be if they've | :26:55. | :26:59.
struck once they've done this to other people in the community and | :27:00. | :27:02.
other vulnerable members of society. I was a bit there, but I tried to | :27:03. | :27:12.
brave it, because if I did start to get upset, I know what would happen. | :27:13. | :27:23.
Because I lose my son. And I thought to myself, if my son was here, I | :27:24. | :27:31.
don't know what the hell he would do to them. This has really shaken | :27:32. | :27:40.
Ineze, with me is Tracy Boucher, what do we know about this man? | :27:41. | :27:45.
You've put together and e-fit. With the help of Ineze we've produced an | :27:46. | :27:50.
e-fit image, described as an Eastern European mail, late 20s, medium | :27:51. | :27:57.
build. Short, dark hair, stubble. Eastern European accent. He was | :27:58. | :28:01.
wearing a dark jacket with grey top and bottom is. There is a second | :28:02. | :28:06.
suspect who we don't believe entered the property, described as an | :28:07. | :28:09.
Eastern European mail in his late 20s, short dark hair with medium | :28:10. | :28:14.
build. Again, Eastern European accent, wearing a grey top. Anyone | :28:15. | :28:17.
in particular you are keen to speak to? Yes, when the suspects left | :28:18. | :28:24.
Ineze's property they went to a neighbouring property and produced | :28:25. | :28:28.
an elderly lady who they stated was dead grandma. We would like to speak | :28:29. | :28:33.
the family who lived at the address and have since moved out of the | :28:34. | :28:36.
property, anybody else who knows the family who lived there. There was | :28:37. | :28:41.
distinctive jewellery taken. There was, the jewellery box alarming to | :28:42. | :28:46.
Ineze was stolen, gold jewellery box, containing most of her | :28:47. | :28:51.
jewellery items most of which had great sentimental value. One was | :28:52. | :28:57.
very stinted, an 18 inch gold chain with an Egyptian Nefertiti pendant. | :28:58. | :29:01.
We'd like to speak to anybody who received that item or has indeed | :29:02. | :29:04.
seen it, sold it on, purchased it. Thank you very much, Tracey. | :29:05. | :29:10.
Here is that e-fit again. If you know who he is, you know what to do. | :29:11. | :29:21.
We also need your help to track down the latest | :29:22. | :29:23.
Starting today with 37-year-old Donald Joseph George Richardson. | :29:24. | :29:26.
Although he also calls himself Donald Stewart, | :29:27. | :29:28.
Mark Joseph Owens or David Walton Richardson. | :29:29. | :29:30.
He was jailed for five years after forcing his way into a woman's | :29:31. | :29:33.
Richardson was released early from prison on licence, | :29:34. | :29:36.
but has failed to stick to the conditions of his release | :29:37. | :29:38.
His arms are heavily scarred and he has tattoos of the words "Mum | :29:39. | :29:43.
Originally from Northern Ireland, he is known around homeless shelters, | :29:44. | :29:47.
especially in Leeds, Manchester and Blackpool town centres. | :29:48. | :29:48.
He's described as dangerous so if you know where | :29:49. | :29:51.
He was jailed for five and half years for importing cocaine | :29:52. | :29:57.
into the UK but has been on the run since his sentencing | :29:58. | :30:00.
Originally from Nigeria, the 47-year-old now has links | :30:01. | :30:05.
to Oxford and nearby Kidlington, as well as the East End of London. | :30:06. | :30:10.
Third today is this man, David Paul Garner. | :30:11. | :30:13.
Although he also goes by the names David Bray, | :30:14. | :30:15.
He's wanted for questioning by detectives in connection | :30:16. | :30:20.
with fraud offences and is 35, with links to Warwickshire, | :30:21. | :30:24.
Finally today, we have 48-year-old Paul Farmer. | :30:25. | :30:29.
National Crime Agency officers want to talk to him in connection | :30:30. | :30:32.
with the supply of a large amount of class B drugs. | :30:33. | :30:36.
This is an old photo and he may look more like this now. | :30:37. | :30:40.
Farmer has friends and family in Kent, Essex, | :30:41. | :30:42.
south-east London, Salford, the Netherlands and Portugal, | :30:43. | :30:46.
though it's thought he may now be in southern Spain. | :30:47. | :30:50.
If you know where any of these faces are, please call and text | :30:51. | :30:53.
Next, think back to Mother's Day. It is a busy time for restaurants, with | :30:54. | :31:09.
many of us treating our mums to a nice meal. Perhaps that's why two | :31:10. | :31:13.
men chosen Sunday the 6th of March two raid a popular Toby carvery. | :31:14. | :31:20.
If anything happens to me, just tell my wife Jackie that I love her. I | :31:21. | :31:25.
started screaming. They told me to shut up. They could hurt somebody. | :31:26. | :31:28.
They could kill somebody. Laura and Michael have worked | :31:29. | :31:38.
together at the Toby Carvery in Rotherham for the past six months. | :31:39. | :31:44.
IWork front of house, so waitressing and bar staff. It is one happy | :31:45. | :31:50.
family. We all look after each other, watch out for each other, | :31:51. | :31:52.
help, muck in. On Mother's Day, we have a | :31:53. | :32:07.
fantastically busy day, we're all getting to the point where we've | :32:08. | :32:12.
exhausted and closing down. Once everyone had left the building, | :32:13. | :32:15.
Michael locked up for the night. As he went to wait for his taxi home, | :32:16. | :32:19.
Laura headed for her car, but she was being watched. I just saw two | :32:20. | :32:26.
men jumped over the fence and come to me at the car. I started | :32:27. | :32:32.
screaming and they told be to shut up, with two guns to my head. The | :32:33. | :32:37.
men demanded the keys to the restaurant and forced towards the | :32:38. | :32:40.
entrance, where Michael was waiting. I thought it was a joke at first, | :32:41. | :32:46.
until they got about 20 yards away from me, then I realised they were | :32:47. | :32:52.
holding something against the side. The men began to threaten Michael. | :32:53. | :32:56.
As they got closer, I saw it was a gun. At this time I said, "I haven't | :32:57. | :33:02.
got any keys". They knocked into the ground one of the shotguns and then | :33:03. | :33:10.
took us back round the corner where my car was. Thinking they couldn't | :33:11. | :33:15.
get into the restaurant, the men pushed the right and pare back into | :33:16. | :33:19.
Laura's car, demanding their phones and wallets. The only ones I've ever | :33:20. | :33:25.
had pointed at me are toy guns or paintball guns, but a real gun | :33:26. | :33:34.
pointed at you... I can't explain how frightening it is. You don't | :33:35. | :33:40.
know what to do, you are just petrified really. As he handed over | :33:41. | :33:45.
his wallet, the attackers realised that Michael did in fact have the | :33:46. | :33:49.
keys and he was ordered to open up the building. While Laura was held | :33:50. | :33:57.
downstairs by one robber, Michael was forced to lead the other to the | :33:58. | :34:03.
safe. I explained to him, it is time not, I can't open it, no matter what | :34:04. | :34:09.
I do it only opens the next morning. -- time locked. Michael got back to | :34:10. | :34:15.
me where I was sat and they made him lie on his stomach. All we heard was | :34:16. | :34:21.
a lot of banging and the next minute, a lot of banging. The one | :34:22. | :34:29.
with the Balaclava on came to me and said, "I'm going to put this tea | :34:30. | :34:33.
towel over your head down". I couldn't see anything apart from the | :34:34. | :34:38.
floor when I was looking down. Then all of a sudden, this almighty bang. | :34:39. | :34:45.
It was every two seconds, a big boom, boom. For over an hour, Laura | :34:46. | :34:53.
and Michael were forced to cower on the floor while the villains fought | :34:54. | :35:00.
to break into the safe. I remember saying to Laura, "I have a feeling | :35:01. | :35:06.
this is going to go wrong, I don't think they are getting into the | :35:07. | :35:11.
safe. " I was the one with the alarm codes on the key to get into the | :35:12. | :35:15.
building. "If anything happens to me, just tell my wife Jackie I love | :35:16. | :35:18.
her," because I was just that fearful at the time that this was | :35:19. | :35:28.
it. And then it just went quiet and it must have been ten or 15 minutes, | :35:29. | :35:32.
we didn't hear a thing and then one of them came and said, "Count of 50 | :35:33. | :35:45.
and then go". -- count to 50. Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten... | :35:46. | :35:58.
Unable to carry the safe, the robbers had fled with just the petty | :35:59. | :36:06.
cash. It has affected my life really really bad. As soon as I'm in the | :36:07. | :36:11.
house past six o'clock, either in the house. I don't go out. I don't | :36:12. | :36:18.
like being out in the dark. If I have to do, it is hard. I'm | :36:19. | :36:22.
constantly looking around me, panicking. I want these people | :36:23. | :36:29.
found, I want these people caught before they do hurt somebody. I have | :36:30. | :36:35.
mental torture, Laura had mental torture. They could hurt somebody, | :36:36. | :36:40.
they could kill somebody. They've got to be stopped, they've got to be | :36:41. | :36:45.
caught, simple as that. It is a frightening incident, isn't | :36:46. | :36:49.
it? Detective Koster Mike Fordham is with the. What can you tell us? They | :36:50. | :36:56.
cut and then ripped out the CCTV, completely destroyed it. Michael and | :36:57. | :37:00.
Laura were head down a lot of the time but what we believe is that | :37:01. | :37:04.
both were white men in their 20s, probably around about 60 zero inches | :37:05. | :37:08.
tall, one quite skinny build, one with a bit more muscle, and both had | :37:09. | :37:12.
local accents. In terms of their clothing, they were both wearing | :37:13. | :37:16.
black motorcycle helmets, black balaclavas. One had a dark buddy. | :37:17. | :37:23.
Other than that, all we've got is some perhaps Adidas grey jogging | :37:24. | :37:28.
bottoms and some dark Adidas trainers with three white stripes on | :37:29. | :37:32.
them. Do you know how they got away? We think they arrived and left on | :37:33. | :37:36.
motorbikes because Michael saw in the car park of the bingo Hall in | :37:37. | :37:41.
some bushes, he thought he saw to motorbikes. Anyone who did see them | :37:42. | :37:46.
in that area... We also think there is a third person who may have | :37:47. | :37:50.
turned up during the incident, perhaps when they couldn't get the | :37:51. | :37:54.
safe to open they were intending to take the safe away so anyone who saw | :37:55. | :37:57.
a third person turning up... What are you appealing for? If anyone | :37:58. | :38:02.
knows who is responsible for it, secondly to do with the vehicles, as | :38:03. | :38:08.
mentioned, and thirdly, this is Michael's actual mobile phone. This | :38:09. | :38:11.
was taken from him during the incident and it was found about two | :38:12. | :38:14.
or three days later they took honours but Castle, an area known as | :38:15. | :38:21.
Mill East. Perhaps somebody has seen it dropped or perhaps you are the | :38:22. | :38:24.
person that dropped it and you didn't realise you had stolen mobile | :38:25. | :38:28.
phone. Are not looking to get you into trouble for that, we just want | :38:29. | :38:33.
as much information as possible. If you have any information, get in | :38:34. | :38:36.
contact with us. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously. | :38:37. | :38:40.
Our next case involves some really awful footage of a hit and run, | :38:41. | :38:44.
which some viewers may find upsetting. It happened on the 14th | :38:45. | :38:48.
of April 20 14th at a zebra crossing in Dagenham, East London. Sanaa | :38:49. | :38:52.
Sheikh who was 25 at the time was crossing the road when this black | :38:53. | :39:00.
Ford KA approached. As you can see, she was thrown into the air with | :39:01. | :39:06.
such force that she fractured her skull and collarbone. The driver | :39:07. | :39:09.
failed to stop and was then caught on another camera shortly after. | :39:10. | :39:17.
Sarna has had a long and difficult recovery and even had to postpone | :39:18. | :39:20.
her wedding following the incident. We've spoken to her to find out how | :39:21. | :39:24.
she is two-year is an. I remember hearing a roaring engine of a car | :39:25. | :39:29.
coming in the opposite direction and I thought it was quite loud and that | :39:30. | :39:35.
is what made me look up. That is the car hit me and I blacked out and I | :39:36. | :39:38.
don't remember anything from there until waking up in hospital. I had a | :39:39. | :39:43.
plate in my collarbone for a year. They have removed that but I have | :39:44. | :39:46.
been advised that although the bone has healed, it will never go back to | :39:47. | :39:50.
the way that it was. Ever since the accident, I've never crossed at a | :39:51. | :39:55.
zebra crossing on my own. I've avoided it at all costs, purely | :39:56. | :40:00.
because it is a reminder of what's happened. I'm scared that something | :40:01. | :40:04.
like that could happen to me again but it's never too late to come | :40:05. | :40:07.
forward and do the right thing. As well as those physical injuries | :40:08. | :40:12.
which some art is recovering from, she is also suffering the | :40:13. | :40:18.
psychological effects of updated top detectives from the Metropolitan | :40:19. | :40:21.
Police need your help to find the driver. The windscreen was damaged | :40:22. | :40:24.
and they believe the car has since been scrapped. Do you know who was | :40:25. | :40:28.
behind the wheel? Call us on the usual number if you can help. | :40:29. | :40:33.
Now, this is the old courtroom in the centre of Leeds Town Hall. | :40:34. | :40:37.
Earlier we were talking about the Victorian police cells but joining | :40:38. | :40:42.
me now is Eric Ambler, a former policeman. You actually brought some | :40:43. | :40:45.
of your suspects right here to be locked up. This place must be | :40:46. | :40:50.
steeped in history. That's right. One of the most infamous criminals | :40:51. | :40:55.
that ever appeared here was a chap called Charlie Pease, Sheffield guy | :40:56. | :40:58.
who murdered a policeman in London and he also shot his lover's husband | :40:59. | :41:05.
in Sheffield. He was brought here and it took the jury just 12 minutes | :41:06. | :41:09.
to find him guilty. Let's head down the stairs because lots of prisoners | :41:10. | :41:14.
would have come up and down the stairs over the years, wouldn't | :41:15. | :41:18.
they? Yes, there have been hundreds of prisoners brought down here for | :41:19. | :41:22.
serious crimes, murders, rapes, all sorts of venous crimes. And when we | :41:23. | :41:27.
get to the bottom, this is what is called the Bridewell and that is the | :41:28. | :41:32.
name for old police cells? Yes, it relates to the 17th-century, a place | :41:33. | :41:35.
in London, a church called Saint bride's and there was a well nearby | :41:36. | :41:40.
and at the back of that was a place of correction. These cells are the | :41:41. | :41:44.
newer part of the building. How are they different to the old Victorian | :41:45. | :41:49.
parts we saw earlier? The differences they were tiles. This | :41:50. | :41:51.
was a holding cell where prisoners would be wrought to have a short | :41:52. | :41:55.
interview with their solicitor before appearing before the | :41:56. | :41:59.
magistrates or the judge. I can't imagine it would be nice being | :42:00. | :42:03.
locked up year. Not very nice. It is ageing to see the atmosphere. It's | :42:04. | :42:08.
quite eerie. Thank you for showing me around. It is great to get a | :42:09. | :42:12.
behind-the-scenes view. Rav, I'll be honest, I don't think I would like | :42:13. | :42:15.
to stay the night. Well, you'd better stay on the right | :42:16. | :42:21.
side of the law! An update on what has come in on the first it we've | :42:22. | :42:25.
had a possible name for the man behind that horrific rape in leads | :42:26. | :42:29.
in August last year. And you may remember yesterday we asked for your | :42:30. | :42:34.
help following that horrific assault on 69-year-old Brian, who was | :42:35. | :42:37.
attacked with a meat cleaver in Doncaster. As a result of | :42:38. | :42:41.
information you've given about the man on CCTV, detectives say they are | :42:42. | :42:45.
following up a promising line of inquiry. Thank you to everyone who | :42:46. | :42:49.
has got in touch. Calls really do make a difference. | :42:50. | :42:51.
Michelle, where you going to be tomorrow? Provided I managed to get | :42:52. | :42:55.
out of the cells, I'm going to find out how police marine units using | :42:56. | :43:00.
their skills to find evidence dumped by criminals. Carrying on with the | :43:01. | :43:04.
water theme, we will be with Teesside Whitewater centre and I'll | :43:05. | :43:07.
be with firefighters to see how they train for floods. Something tells me | :43:08. | :43:11.
I'm going to get pretty wet so hopefully I shall see you tomorrow, | :43:12. | :43:14.
Rav. Looks like they've upped and left | :43:15. | :43:18.
you! For more details about the crimes on today's programme, go to | :43:19. | :43:22.
our website but before we go, have another look at today's wanted | :43:23. | :43:29.
faces. We will be back tomorrow morning at 9:15am. Until then, take | :43:30. | :43:30.
care. | :43:31. | :43:36. |
