The photos taken at this shoot will be seen by millions of people | 0:00:15 | 0:00:19
and will be plastered on billboards all over the country. | 0:00:19 | 0:00:23
But they're faces you don't often see. | 0:00:23 | 0:00:26
All the children taking part in this shoot have some kind of disfigurement, | 0:00:26 | 0:00:30
and they've had enough of being treated differently because of how they look. | 0:00:30 | 0:00:34
I have been teased and bullied and people have been really cruel | 0:00:34 | 0:00:37
at school, just because I look slightly different. | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
So they're taking a stand, representing a charity that fights | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
for everyone to be treated equally, no matter how they look. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
I just want people to know that I'm an ordinary boy, | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
because I am an ordinary boy, just with a different look. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:53
Inside this grey-looking building are some of the brightest brains in advertising. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:06
Four kids have been invited here to take part in something that's never been done before. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:10
They've been picked to star in a nationwide poster campaign for a charity. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:15
Welcome to DDB. We're really excited to have you here today. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
I'm going to have a chat with you later to find out a bit about you and your lives, | 0:01:20 | 0:01:24
and we're going to show you some of the ideas for your ad campaign. | 0:01:24 | 0:01:27
-Does that sound good? -ALL: Yes. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:30
The plan is to make posters of the children that will be shown on billboards all over the country. | 0:01:30 | 0:01:35
It's all for a campaign for the charity Changing Faces. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:39
They're fighting for everyone to be treated equally, no matter how they look. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:44
It's the first time they've done a campaign like this with just children. | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
So why were these kids chosen? | 0:01:47 | 0:01:49
The thing I like about motorbikes is that they go fast. | 0:01:52 | 0:01:56
They've got speed, and I like speed. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:58
I like going fast. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:00
My uncle likes bikes, my cousin likes bikes, my mum likes bikes, my big sister like bikes. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:05
Everyone likes bikes. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:07
But Harry's family was torn apart by a tragic accident when he was a baby. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:12
I was in a house fire when I was one and my big brother, Michael, and my dad, Dave, died. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:21
That's Michael on the motorbike. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:23
There's Michael pointing at a newborn Harry. Look how happy he was that you'd come. | 0:02:23 | 0:02:28
I was in hospital for months. Half of my body is burnt apart from my belly. | 0:02:28 | 0:02:33
That was two months before the fire. | 0:02:33 | 0:02:36
Look at me. I look so adorable. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
For as long as Harry can remember, he's always stuck out from the crowd. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:44
A lot of people, if they've never seen him before, people often stare. | 0:02:44 | 0:02:50
I was about seven years old when a person said, "Are you an alien or are you a human?" | 0:02:50 | 0:02:56
I was mortified. | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
-Absolutely mortified. -And when she went over... | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
when she went over to tell his mum, or nan or whatever, she started laughing. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:07
She was very rude as well. The adult thought it was quite amusing and said, "Oh, he does, doesn't he?" | 0:03:07 | 0:03:12
It's this prejudice the children want to challenge. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:18
These are the faces we are used to seeing on posters, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
but the advertising team want to do something different. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:23
That's Chris's job. | 0:03:23 | 0:03:25
The main objective is to change the people who have prejudices | 0:03:26 | 0:03:29
to think differently about these kids and anyone with a facial disfigurement. | 0:03:29 | 0:03:34
What makes a good ad is one that has a very simple message that's easy to understand | 0:03:34 | 0:03:39
and grabs your attention and stops you from walking past the poster, ignoring the message. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:44
Someone who really wants to get his point across is Max. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:48
The type of birthmark I have is a port wine stain. | 0:03:54 | 0:03:57
I have quite a lot of birthmark over my body. | 0:03:57 | 0:04:01
Max's birthmark is there because he has bigger blood vessels under the skin in that area. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:06
He was born with it. | 0:04:06 | 0:04:08
I chose to take part because I want people to know that it's not contagious. | 0:04:08 | 0:04:14
It's not a disease, it's just the way that people were born, really. | 0:04:14 | 0:04:19
To make a good advert, the advertising team | 0:04:21 | 0:04:23
need to know exactly what life is like for the kids. | 0:04:23 | 0:04:26
Why do you think doing this campaign is important? | 0:04:26 | 0:04:29
We just want people to know that people with a visual difference | 0:04:29 | 0:04:33
are normal but they have one extra-special thing about them. | 0:04:33 | 0:04:37
Not everyone's perfect, but everyone actually is different in some way or another. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:44
I'm Lucas and I've got a facial disfigurement. | 0:04:47 | 0:04:50
I was born like this. | 0:04:50 | 0:04:52
Before Lucas was born, there was a problem early on with the way he developed. | 0:04:52 | 0:04:57
It affected his eyes, ears, nose and the tube that joins his throat and stomach. | 0:04:57 | 0:05:02
He's totally healthy now but he still looks slightly different to other kids. | 0:05:02 | 0:05:07
It's a bit upsetting having a facial disfigurement, even though it's only a slight difference. | 0:05:07 | 0:05:12
People have been really cruel to me at school just because I looked slightly different to most people. | 0:05:12 | 0:05:18
It wasn't until Lucas was four years old that he realised he did not look like everyone else. | 0:05:18 | 0:05:23
It was the first day of school and a girl said, "What's wrong with your face?" | 0:05:23 | 0:05:29
I didn't know what to say, because...no-one had ever asked me that before. | 0:05:29 | 0:05:33
I was just really curious when I went home and asked my mum. | 0:05:33 | 0:05:37
And she told me that some people were going to be cruel or whatever. | 0:05:37 | 0:05:42
Kids who invite me round to their houses and the mothers haven't seen me before, | 0:05:42 | 0:05:46
they get very nervous and jumpy. | 0:05:46 | 0:05:48
Sometimes I never see the kid again, | 0:05:48 | 0:05:51
and I don't know why. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:53
I usually think that there isn't a normal person on Earth. | 0:05:53 | 0:05:58
That's what makes everyone interesting. | 0:05:58 | 0:06:00
At the advertising agency, the kids are working on ideas for what the posters should say. | 0:06:00 | 0:06:05
Tell me what you said. | 0:06:05 | 0:06:08
Mine says, "Shut it, you!" | 0:06:08 | 0:06:09
-He or she says, "It's just a mark - a birthmark." -It's just a birthmark. -Mmm. -Lucas, | 0:06:09 | 0:06:16
-have you got anything? -"Imagine if you were me. Would you like to be stared at?" | 0:06:16 | 0:06:20
Have you said that to someone, or is it something you would like to say? | 0:06:20 | 0:06:24
It's sort of what I'd like to say. | 0:06:24 | 0:06:28
-Lauren, are you OK to read yours out? -"Stop staring, because you wouldn't like it." | 0:06:28 | 0:06:32
It's a strong statement from someone who's shy. | 0:06:32 | 0:06:35
The photo campaign | 0:06:35 | 0:06:38
is very different for me to do, because I don't like being the centre of attention. | 0:06:38 | 0:06:44
The first time I saw Lauren with her birthmark, I said, "What's that on your face?" | 0:06:44 | 0:06:48
She said it was a birthmark. I went, "Oh. What's a birthmark?" | 0:06:48 | 0:06:53
I'd prefer people to ask than stare. | 0:06:53 | 0:06:56
She's not one of those people who want their face on everything, | 0:06:56 | 0:07:00
but I'm glad she's doing it because she can get the message round that a birthmark's no big deal. | 0:07:00 | 0:07:06
It's not just Lauren's friends who are surprised she's doing the campaign. So is her mum. | 0:07:06 | 0:07:10
This is definitely out of character for Lauren. | 0:07:10 | 0:07:13
I really didn't think she would say yes. | 0:07:13 | 0:07:17
She's not doing it for attention or because she wants to be in the spotlight, | 0:07:17 | 0:07:22
or on the stage - she's doing it to build her confidence. | 0:07:22 | 0:07:25
Someone who knows just what kind of impact a campaign like this can have on you is Adam. | 0:07:25 | 0:07:30
He has already featured in a poster campaign like the one the kids are doing. | 0:07:30 | 0:07:35
I had no idea how big it would be. | 0:07:35 | 0:07:37
I thought it would be a few posters here and there, and it's 18 months | 0:07:37 | 0:07:41
since I signed up and they're all over the place at the moment. | 0:07:41 | 0:07:45
My parents have seen 15 of them this week alone. It's crazy. | 0:07:45 | 0:07:49
Adam was born with a condition that has caused growths on his face and head. | 0:07:49 | 0:07:53
He's been in and out of hospital all his life. | 0:07:53 | 0:07:56
Over the years, he's had to deal with his fair share of bullies. | 0:07:56 | 0:07:59
He's got loads of advice for the kids. | 0:07:59 | 0:08:02
When you were younger, did you ever see anyone being mean to you? | 0:08:02 | 0:08:07
I got bullied for five straight years of secondary school and it was a real, real hard time. | 0:08:07 | 0:08:14
I have no time for bullying. I think it's one of the worst things anyone can do to anyone else. | 0:08:14 | 0:08:19
I got really angry, to the point where it was like, "I'm annoyed and I don't know why I'm annoyed, | 0:08:19 | 0:08:24
"but I'm annoyed and someone is going to have to pay for this." | 0:08:24 | 0:08:27
How did you try and stop it? | 0:08:27 | 0:08:29
The wrong way to deal with it is to really kick off and start yelling things back. | 0:08:29 | 0:08:34
That's not the right way to go about things. | 0:08:34 | 0:08:36
So you either ignore it or explain to them why you look the way you do. | 0:08:36 | 0:08:42
Or I am also a big fan of sarcasm and making jokes. | 0:08:42 | 0:08:45
Because if people see you're comfortable enough in your own skin to joke about it, | 0:08:45 | 0:08:50
then they'll realise it won't get to you, and by bullying or being mean to you, they're wasting their time. | 0:08:50 | 0:08:57
The kids' first day at the agency has come to an end, and Adam's words have really hit home with Harry. | 0:08:57 | 0:09:03
He would be a good role model, Adam. He taught you stuff like, don't show your anger, | 0:09:03 | 0:09:10
let it go. | 0:09:10 | 0:09:12
But Harry doesn't always find it easy to let things go. | 0:09:12 | 0:09:15
Sometimes he gets into trouble. | 0:09:15 | 0:09:18
Someone called me names, so I had a fight. | 0:09:18 | 0:09:21
They pushed me, so I pushed them back, then they pushed me back, | 0:09:21 | 0:09:25
then I kicked them on the floor and I started kicking them. | 0:09:25 | 0:09:28
I want people to know about me, | 0:09:28 | 0:09:31
so they can just know that I got burnt when I was one years old. | 0:09:31 | 0:09:36
So if you want to know, don't stare, just ask. | 0:09:36 | 0:09:41
All the kids have different ways of dealing with staring. | 0:09:41 | 0:09:44
Lucas and his brother Morgan have quite a few strategies they use when they are out. | 0:09:44 | 0:09:48
Most people, when they first stare at me, I smile at them. | 0:09:48 | 0:09:52
Then they usually look away, or smile and look away, | 0:09:52 | 0:09:56
although there are some people who are arrogant and even then they don't look away. | 0:09:56 | 0:10:01
They carry on staring. | 0:10:01 | 0:10:03
So I smile and wave. HE MOUTHS | 0:10:03 | 0:10:05
Even though I've had it all my life, it still feels uncomfortable to have people doing that to you. | 0:10:05 | 0:10:13
And I think it's not fair that people should treat people with facial disfigurements like that. | 0:10:13 | 0:10:19
Some people think they're invisible to him. You could be just inches away, staring them right in the eye. | 0:10:19 | 0:10:25
You have to think of yourself having a massive spot on your forehead or cheek or somewhere, | 0:10:25 | 0:10:30
and you're in the middle of town, where everyone can see you and everyone's staring at you, | 0:10:30 | 0:10:35
thinking, "That person's unhygienic, dirty, horrible." | 0:10:35 | 0:10:38
It would be really horrible for you to cope with. | 0:10:38 | 0:10:40
When you look different, every new thing you do or place you go can be a big challenge. | 0:10:40 | 0:10:45
All the kids rely on their family and friends for support. | 0:10:45 | 0:10:49
Stacey helps me when I'm upset or I'm sad. | 0:10:52 | 0:10:55
We've known each other for seven years and we met at primary school. | 0:10:55 | 0:11:01
She's just legendary. | 0:11:01 | 0:11:03
You can't get a friend like this in anybody else. | 0:11:03 | 0:11:06
At primary school, Max and Stacey would always help each other out if one of them was having a bad time. | 0:11:06 | 0:11:12
In Year 2, we used to play dodge ball, but everybody would go for Max. | 0:11:12 | 0:11:16
-That was really annoying. -So every time somebody went for him I always jumped in front of him. | 0:11:16 | 0:11:22
As well as doing the poster campaign, Max has just started secondary school this year. | 0:11:22 | 0:11:27
It's scary for anyone, but harder for Max, meeting hundreds of people who don't know about his birthmark. | 0:11:27 | 0:11:33
Luckily, his best mate was starting at the same time. | 0:11:33 | 0:11:37
I was a bit nervous at first. We only had 70 in my primary school, so it was ginormously... | 0:11:37 | 0:11:44
We're in different forms, but we're still with our friends. We try and meet up every lunchtime. | 0:11:44 | 0:11:50
We normally stay on the same table and look out for each other. | 0:11:50 | 0:11:55
If you've got glasses for the first time, it doesn't matter what your friends think, it's what you think. | 0:11:55 | 0:12:01
I think you should be yourself if you have any birthmark or freckles. | 0:12:01 | 0:12:06
I don't think looks are important. | 0:12:06 | 0:12:09
Although Max is happy with who he is, like a lot of people with birthmarks, | 0:12:09 | 0:12:14
he's had to make a decision about whether or not to have treatment to lighten his birthmark. | 0:12:14 | 0:12:18
I have had laser treatment. | 0:12:18 | 0:12:21
The last one was about two weeks ago. | 0:12:21 | 0:12:25
I don't particularly like it done, because I like the way I look now. | 0:12:25 | 0:12:28
Harry has spent a lot of time in hospital over the years. | 0:12:28 | 0:12:32
He doesn't want to change how he looks any more. | 0:12:32 | 0:12:34
When I went to hospital recently, they asked me if I wanted a new ear, but I said no. | 0:12:34 | 0:12:39
The ear would just be for looks. | 0:12:39 | 0:12:42
I like the way I look. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:44
I have a grandpa hairstyle - bald at the top, but loads at the side. | 0:12:44 | 0:12:50
I don't want a hair transplant, because I'd shave it off anyway. | 0:12:50 | 0:12:54
Making the decision to have treatment is a difficult one, but Lauren has made her choice. | 0:12:54 | 0:12:59
I'm packing my bag because I'm going to have some laser treatment on my face. | 0:12:59 | 0:13:04
It's meant to help my birthmark maybe go a bit lighter instead of going darker. | 0:13:04 | 0:13:11
Lauren, come on, time to go. | 0:13:11 | 0:13:14
-Have you got everything? -Yes. -Good. This is your last drink now. | 0:13:14 | 0:13:17
You can't have a drink after 11 o'clock because the anaesthetic will make you sick. | 0:13:17 | 0:13:22
Lauren has been having laser treatment since she was a toddler. | 0:13:22 | 0:13:25
I don't like having the treatment, because I can't go outside and it hurts. | 0:13:25 | 0:13:32
I'd prefer to go to school than go to the hospital. | 0:13:32 | 0:13:35
-Have you had a good journey? -Yeah. -Slip your bag off and get on the scale. | 0:13:35 | 0:13:39
But the treatment has made a difference to Lauren's birthmark, and she wants to keep going. | 0:13:39 | 0:13:44
Kath wants to see if there have been any changes to the birthmark | 0:13:44 | 0:13:48
before she starts the next treatment. | 0:13:48 | 0:13:51
-You've still got that tiny stubborn bit. -Yes, it's quite deep, isn't it? | 0:13:51 | 0:13:55
We'll do that bit a bit higher, and then these we'll keep at the same level. All right with you? | 0:13:55 | 0:14:01
-You might be bruised for a bit longer. -OK. -Is that OK? Are you sure? | 0:14:01 | 0:14:07
Although Lauren's had the treatment lots of times, she's still nervous. | 0:14:07 | 0:14:10
She has to be put to sleep with anaesthetic before the treatment can start. | 0:14:10 | 0:14:15
The laser produces a powerful beam of light that destroys the purplish blood vessels under the skin | 0:14:19 | 0:14:24
without injuring the skin on top, but it does leave temporary bruises. | 0:14:24 | 0:14:28
What we hope is that the redness will get lighter and lighter, | 0:14:28 | 0:14:32
so that when she's bigger, she can cover it with make-up and you won't be able to see it. | 0:14:32 | 0:14:36
From when they first come to when they finish treatment, | 0:14:36 | 0:14:39
I actually see them get more confident, and that's one of the nicest parts of the job. | 0:14:39 | 0:14:44
Lauren's just come round from her treatment and her face is bruised. | 0:14:44 | 0:14:48
I'm still a bit sleepy, and it's really sore. | 0:14:48 | 0:14:54
It looks like it might be a bit swollen tomorrow. | 0:14:54 | 0:14:57
Never mind. You can have a rest, can't you? | 0:14:57 | 0:15:01
I'm feeling OK and I want to go home. | 0:15:01 | 0:15:04
Lauren's bruises should be gone by the day of the photo-shoot in three weeks' time. | 0:15:04 | 0:15:11
Back at the advertising agency, the team are making final preparations. | 0:15:12 | 0:15:17
From his own experience, Adam knows that doing this campaign is going to be a big deal for the kids. | 0:15:17 | 0:15:22
They'll be having a lot of attention thrown upon them. | 0:15:22 | 0:15:25
I'm confident they know what they're getting into and they're ready, but it still doesn't make it any easier. | 0:15:25 | 0:15:32
It's the day of the photo-shoot. | 0:15:33 | 0:15:35
Posing for a professional photographer is a new experience for all the kids. | 0:15:35 | 0:15:39
It is a big ask, because they haven't done this before, | 0:15:39 | 0:15:42
but we just want a real, natural performance to get across their personality, a little cheekiness. | 0:15:42 | 0:15:48
We want them to enjoy themselves, which will be hard with the lights and cameras on them. | 0:15:48 | 0:15:53
It doesn't come naturally to them, probably. | 0:15:53 | 0:15:56
A stylist and make-up artist are on hand to make everyone look their best, | 0:15:56 | 0:16:01
but Harry is not impressed with the clothes chosen for him. | 0:16:01 | 0:16:04
Like all kids, he has strong views on what he likes to wear. | 0:16:04 | 0:16:07
I've got, like, a plain sort of T-shirt, or some sort of nice casual trousers. | 0:16:07 | 0:16:13
What about that? That's a nice colour. | 0:16:13 | 0:16:16
Do you like that? | 0:16:16 | 0:16:17
-Yeah? -I think they look nice. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:20
They make you look stylish. You look cool. | 0:16:20 | 0:16:22
-I don't like them. -Try this T-shirt on. | 0:16:22 | 0:16:26
-You wanted to wear your jacket, but you could wear this, because it's kind of similar. -I don't like it. | 0:16:26 | 0:16:32
-Can I wear my Everton top with that over it? -I don't think so. | 0:16:32 | 0:16:37
'I didn't like them clothes. They make me look stupid and I didn't like them.' | 0:16:37 | 0:16:41
They were just plain. I wanted to wear these clothes - Everton pants, Everton top. | 0:16:41 | 0:16:47
Harry has got used to some people being nasty to him because of his burns, | 0:16:47 | 0:16:51
but he also knows that sometimes people are extra nice to him because of what he's been through. | 0:16:51 | 0:16:56
He knows how to use this to his advantage. | 0:16:56 | 0:16:58
I use my burns to get me off the hook sometimes. | 0:16:58 | 0:17:03
And use them to get what you want. | 0:17:03 | 0:17:05
Yes, a lot. | 0:17:05 | 0:17:07
How do you feel about wearing some of your sports trousers, your tracksuit bottoms? | 0:17:07 | 0:17:12
-Then would you be OK with the T-shirts? Can we compromise on that? -Maybe. | 0:17:12 | 0:17:16
If I caught you using your difference to get away with stuff, | 0:17:16 | 0:17:20
-then I would punish you, and you know it, don't you? -Yeah. | 0:17:20 | 0:17:24
-I'm not getting make-up. -No, not make-up, just a hair. | 0:17:24 | 0:17:27
Just a little bit. | 0:17:27 | 0:17:29
Are you not happy about this? | 0:17:31 | 0:17:33
Why? Most people really enjoy the process of getting their hair done. | 0:17:33 | 0:17:39
But Harry is making it a challenge, which is actually quite nice as well. | 0:17:39 | 0:17:43
That's a lot like me. | 0:17:43 | 0:17:47
This is the photography set. | 0:17:47 | 0:17:49
Lauren is next to arrive. | 0:17:49 | 0:17:51
Have you ever been in a photo-shoot before? Do you want to take a step on here with me? | 0:17:51 | 0:17:56
And she's feeling a bit nervous about the day ahead. | 0:17:56 | 0:17:58
I'm going to stand there and take a picture and your going to stand here. And we're just going to play. | 0:17:58 | 0:18:03
So there's nothing to worry about, it will just be like having fun. OK? | 0:18:03 | 0:18:06
The photo campaign is very different for me to do, | 0:18:06 | 0:18:09
because I never do anything like this. | 0:18:09 | 0:18:12
I'm not a person that likes being bossy or at the front. | 0:18:12 | 0:18:17
I'm more like a sporty person. | 0:18:17 | 0:18:20
-I've got this sort of top. -'I like wearing tracky bottoms,' | 0:18:20 | 0:18:24
jeans and jumpers and I don't really like wearing dresses or skirts. | 0:18:24 | 0:18:29
I think she'd probably prefer a football shirt, you know what I mean? | 0:18:29 | 0:18:33
Or I've got this sort of snug cardie. | 0:18:33 | 0:18:37
'Lauren hates getting dressed, full stop. She hates going to shops, she hates trying clothes on. | 0:18:37 | 0:18:44
'I once asked her why she didn't want to get dressed up to go to a party | 0:18:44 | 0:18:47
'and her answer was, "Because everybody will look at me." ' | 0:18:47 | 0:18:51
I don't think we'll ever know if it's the birthmark or just Lauren. | 0:18:51 | 0:18:54
-How are you feeling? -Er... | 0:18:54 | 0:18:57
A little nervous? Are you? There's nothing to be nervous about. | 0:18:57 | 0:19:01
Lucas and Max are next to arrive and they don't seem to be the least bit worried. | 0:19:01 | 0:19:05
Hi, Lucas. You all right? | 0:19:05 | 0:19:08
Do you want to try these on? The shoes are great as well. | 0:19:08 | 0:19:11
You've been the easiest one so far. | 0:19:11 | 0:19:14
-Would you mind trying on maybe one of these tops? -Yeah, sure. | 0:19:14 | 0:19:18
It's going to be exciting and interesting to find out how the photos are going to turn out. | 0:19:18 | 0:19:22
The advertising team are confident that they can get across what the kids want to say. | 0:19:22 | 0:19:28
'The campaign is called Look At Me Now. | 0:19:28 | 0:19:30
'We were inspired by that meeting with the kids.' | 0:19:30 | 0:19:33
It's saying, "Look at me, I'm on a big poster campaign. | 0:19:33 | 0:19:36
I'm different to what you thought. I'm braver, I've got confidence. | 0:19:36 | 0:19:39
It has the line, "To anyone who looked at me | 0:19:39 | 0:19:42
"and thought I'd never have anything to smile about, look at me now." | 0:19:42 | 0:19:45
Harry sticks his tongue out, getting across his personality. | 0:19:45 | 0:19:48
Harry's got tons of personality, so it should be straightforward, | 0:19:48 | 0:19:52
but he's not really enjoying the photo-shoot. | 0:19:52 | 0:19:55
Like you're waiting at the bus stop to go to school. | 0:19:55 | 0:19:59
Do that towards me. | 0:19:59 | 0:20:00
Stick your tongue out. | 0:20:02 | 0:20:04
That's it. | 0:20:04 | 0:20:05
'I don't really like posing. | 0:20:05 | 0:20:08
'I didn't like getting my photo took all the time.' | 0:20:08 | 0:20:12
When I grow up I don't want to be a model, I want to be a bike racer. | 0:20:12 | 0:20:16
Look over that way. | 0:20:16 | 0:20:18
Harry's getting fed up and the team realise what they are asking him to do just isn't working. | 0:20:18 | 0:20:24
What are you thinking of his tongue sticking out? | 0:20:24 | 0:20:28
I want him to look a bit more pleased with himself. | 0:20:28 | 0:20:31
The line we've got on the poster is, "Something to Smile About". | 0:20:31 | 0:20:34
-You want a feeling of pride. -Yes, got you. | 0:20:34 | 0:20:39
Give us a big smile. | 0:20:39 | 0:20:42
Luckily, Harry's mum is on hand to make him laugh. | 0:20:42 | 0:20:45
That's the trick, put your hands in your pocket. | 0:20:45 | 0:20:50
I think I just relaxed him a bit, set him off and that was it. You get your good smile pictures then. | 0:20:50 | 0:20:56
Brilliant, well done. | 0:20:56 | 0:20:59
Definitely the first time I've ever had make-up put on my face. | 0:21:01 | 0:21:04
Lauren seems to be getting more confident as the day goes on. | 0:21:04 | 0:21:09
OK, a little smile, really good. | 0:21:09 | 0:21:12
Put your arms higher, like an aeroplane. | 0:21:12 | 0:21:15
It feels weird when people are telling you to do loads of things. | 0:21:15 | 0:21:20
Give me one of those big smiles. That's good. | 0:21:20 | 0:21:22
Looking at her there now, I think she finds it quite easy. I feel quite emotional, really. | 0:21:22 | 0:21:28
I feel quite touched that she's done it, you know? | 0:21:28 | 0:21:31
Very good. | 0:21:32 | 0:21:33
-You've got lovely eyes, Lauren. -Have you never done this before? | 0:21:33 | 0:21:36
Nice! An even bigger smile. That's great. | 0:21:38 | 0:21:41
I did enjoy it, but I don't think I'm a natural. | 0:21:41 | 0:21:44
Wow, which ones do you like the best? | 0:21:44 | 0:21:46
I don't know, I like all of them. | 0:21:46 | 0:21:48
Give me a little smile. Something really silly. | 0:21:49 | 0:21:53
When I see the posters, I'm going to be shocked. It's going to be rather odd. | 0:21:54 | 0:21:59
I don't know what it'll be like. We've only seen a sketch. | 0:21:59 | 0:22:02
It's taken five hours and the photographer has taken over 200 images. | 0:22:02 | 0:22:07
But they think they've done it. | 0:22:07 | 0:22:09
Kids were perfect - what we wanted. | 0:22:09 | 0:22:11
We wanted them to act natural and they did exactly that. | 0:22:11 | 0:22:16
'It was more relaxed than I thought.' | 0:22:16 | 0:22:17
There was some surprises - Lauren, I thought, was amazing and Lucas as well. | 0:22:17 | 0:22:21
So hopefully, nice big posters. | 0:22:21 | 0:22:24
The next time the four kids will meet, their pictures will be on posters all over London. | 0:22:26 | 0:22:31
It's down to the advertising team to create the final image. | 0:22:31 | 0:22:34
I'm excited because it will be the first time to see it. | 0:22:34 | 0:22:39
But I'm a bit nervous because I don't know what it will be like. | 0:22:39 | 0:22:42
It's going to be a bit weird looking looking at yourself on a giant poster on the tube, | 0:22:42 | 0:22:47
where you usually see adverts for films or things like that. | 0:22:47 | 0:22:50
When people look at the poster, I want them to think, "Look at him, he's famous." | 0:22:50 | 0:22:55
I'm feeling really happy about seeing myself on a billboard. | 0:22:55 | 0:22:59
I'm definitely looking forward to that experience, I can't wait. | 0:22:59 | 0:23:04
Five months ago, nobody knew who these children were outside their home town. | 0:23:06 | 0:23:10
Now their faces are at the centre of the charity campaign, | 0:23:10 | 0:23:13
fighting for people to be treated equally, no matter how they look. | 0:23:13 | 0:23:16
They will be on advertising spaces across the country. | 0:23:16 | 0:23:19
Adam knows how it feels and hopes they can cope with being in the spotlight. | 0:23:19 | 0:23:24
'They have a lot of responsibility now.' | 0:23:24 | 0:23:26
Because now they are essentially the public face, so people will know who they are, know what they are about. | 0:23:26 | 0:23:31
'And the amount of attention they get might stun them slightly.' | 0:23:31 | 0:23:37
Here we are, West Kensington tube station. | 0:23:39 | 0:23:42
Today, we go and see the posters. | 0:23:42 | 0:23:44
CHEERING How are we all feeling? ALL: Excited. | 0:23:44 | 0:23:50
Happy, excited? | 0:23:50 | 0:23:51
The plan is, we are going to go and invade the Underground and look for our posters. So, let's rock 'n roll! | 0:23:51 | 0:23:57
Onwards and upwards. CHEERING | 0:23:57 | 0:23:59
There's 260 stations on the London Underground, so plenty of places to look. | 0:24:03 | 0:24:08
-Not many people get to do this. -I'll look that way, you look that way. | 0:24:11 | 0:24:14
There are over 400 posters plastered up all over the Underground, it's now just a case of finding them. | 0:24:16 | 0:24:22
There's got to be one here somewhere. | 0:24:22 | 0:24:25
-OVER PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM: -We can see you! | 0:24:26 | 0:24:29
That's creepy. | 0:24:29 | 0:24:30
Look, there you are. | 0:24:37 | 0:24:39
I think it's fantastic. | 0:24:40 | 0:24:42
That's made me feel happy. That's made my day. | 0:24:44 | 0:24:49
Lauren! | 0:24:49 | 0:24:50
Brilliant. | 0:24:50 | 0:24:51
But Max and Harry still haven't found their posters. | 0:24:54 | 0:24:58
I'm feeling really excited about seeing my poster. | 0:24:58 | 0:25:02
I have seen Lauren's, then I just saw Lucas's, when am I going to see mine? | 0:25:02 | 0:25:06
Every day, 3.5 million people use the Tube, that's a lot of people to see your poster. | 0:25:06 | 0:25:11
Right now, though, Max and Harry just want to see it for themselves. | 0:25:11 | 0:25:16
There! | 0:25:16 | 0:25:17
I'm really happy, really proud of it, yes. | 0:25:21 | 0:25:25
There's only one person still to find his poster. | 0:25:27 | 0:25:30
Mine's over here! There's mine, there's mine! | 0:25:31 | 0:25:35
Look at that, that's me. | 0:25:35 | 0:25:36
Look, there's me! | 0:25:36 | 0:25:37
I feel very happy because look at me. | 0:25:39 | 0:25:41
I'm that big, look! | 0:25:41 | 0:25:44
I think it's absolutely brilliant, I'm really proud of you for doing it. | 0:25:44 | 0:25:48
When Harry, Lauren, Max and Lucas started this adventure, | 0:25:48 | 0:25:55
they were fed up with people making judgements about who they were based on how they looked. | 0:25:55 | 0:26:00
Now they've been brave enough to put their faces in the spotlight | 0:26:00 | 0:26:04
to show everyone they're just like any other kid, and there's no bigger spotlight than this! | 0:26:04 | 0:26:09
There's me! We're up there in that massive 50-foot thing. | 0:26:12 | 0:26:15
I think it's just brilliant. | 0:26:16 | 0:26:19
-It's amazing. Really good. -How impressive is that? | 0:26:19 | 0:26:21
You have to be like a celebrity or something to get on there so I think Lucas is really lucky for that. | 0:26:21 | 0:26:26
He looks better than he usually does, anyway! | 0:26:26 | 0:26:30
I have seen three Maxs in one day - normal Max, poster Max and massive huge billboard Max. | 0:26:30 | 0:26:35
I'm really proud of myself, it's a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. | 0:26:35 | 0:26:40
I'm glad I've taken it. | 0:26:40 | 0:26:42
I never thought I'd see my daughter up in lights like that. | 0:26:42 | 0:26:46
Glad I've done it. It's been worth all the hard work. | 0:26:46 | 0:26:49
I'm just really happy. | 0:26:49 | 0:26:51
I feel proud of him as well, he's my brother, really, and... | 0:26:51 | 0:26:55
Thank you. | 0:26:56 | 0:26:58
Look at that, it's me. I did it to get famous. | 0:26:58 | 0:27:02
I think I'm pretty famous in London, not yet in Liverpool, but I will be soon. | 0:27:02 | 0:27:08
How many kids can say they're on a 20-foot billboard in the centre of London? | 0:27:08 | 0:27:11
From seeing it start as a simple idea on a flipchart | 0:27:11 | 0:27:15
and just to see it through to something of this scale and magnitude, is just simply incredible. | 0:27:15 | 0:27:21
I did this campaign because I know it's going to make a difference. | 0:27:21 | 0:27:25
I know it's going to help other people with facial disfigurements. | 0:27:25 | 0:27:29
I feel so much better about myself. | 0:27:29 | 0:27:32
I wanted to tell people that people with differences aren't always shy. | 0:27:32 | 0:27:38
I think this has made me more confident than I ever was. | 0:27:38 | 0:27:42
