My name is Peter and this is my circus. | 0:00:18 | 0:00:20
My family has been in the circus for generations. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
My mum - she's the boss - met my dad | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
when they worked in my granddad's circus. | 0:00:44 | 0:00:48
I was born there. | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
When I was little, they left and set up on their own. | 0:00:51 | 0:00:55
It's seven o'clock at night. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
We're off to a new place to set up. | 0:01:01 | 0:01:03
We call each place "a new stand". | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
This year we've been to over 20 places so far. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:14
We just keep travelling. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:16
We've just left from Hull. We're on our way to Scarborough. | 0:01:19 | 0:01:22
It's good because it's a holiday place | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
so there's a lot of things happening. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:27
I like travelling a lot cos you see different things, | 0:01:28 | 0:01:31
different places, different audience, different people. | 0:01:31 | 0:01:35
When we arrive at the same place they go, "Oh, the circus is back! | 0:01:35 | 0:01:39
"We've missed you!" | 0:01:39 | 0:01:41
We go to Scarborough every year. | 0:01:41 | 0:01:43
But this time I'm setting myself a challenge. | 0:01:43 | 0:01:46
This is my sister Emilia. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
My challenge is to get in the ring with her again... | 0:01:52 | 0:01:55
Can't watch my kids because they're too daring for my liking. | 0:01:58 | 0:02:02
They take too many risks. | 0:02:02 | 0:02:04
..in front of hundreds of people. | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
What he does is amazing. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
The trouble is, the last time I performed with my sister, | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
I had a big scare. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:15
He came up crying his eyes out, "My sister, my sister!" | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
So you'll find out later if I succeed in the challenge. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:21
Whatever happens, I'm so proud of you, OK? | 0:02:22 | 0:02:25
Each week when we arrive at a new stand, it's late at night. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:33
Whoa! | 0:02:33 | 0:02:34 | |
Every time I get to a new place, it's my responsibility | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
to set my caravan up and make sure it's all OK. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
This is my caravan. I got this for my birthday. | 0:02:46 | 0:02:49
I used to live in my mum's caravan, that was fun as well, | 0:02:49 | 0:02:53
I had my own bedroom in there and stuff, that was all right. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
But I prefer it in here now on my own. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:00
Well, this is what I do every time I move on to a different site, | 0:03:01 | 0:03:05
which some people might think is a bit annoying | 0:03:05 | 0:03:09
but I find it all right. | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
I play PlayStation, I watch TV, eat here... | 0:03:13 | 0:03:18
My favourite bit about this caravan, when we was in Hull, | 0:03:18 | 0:03:24
I got my...the biker... and he helped me put these up, | 0:03:24 | 0:03:28
which are really cool. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30
My dad spends his night getting everyone into their positions. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:37
OK, OK. | 0:03:37 | 0:03:40
And my sister Emilia helps my mum settle into my parents' home. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:46
Every time we kind of arrive to a new place, | 0:03:48 | 0:03:50
I sort of just come in and help my mum and then go sort mine out, | 0:03:50 | 0:03:53
but putting up pictures is my favourite bit. | 0:03:53 | 0:03:56
My sister always puts that picture up. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:01
It's when I was little and used to be a clown act. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
My mum and dad's wagon has whole sections that slide out | 0:04:06 | 0:04:09
so when we're parked it's as big as a normal house. | 0:04:09 | 0:04:13
This is the slide-out, because you can't travel with it out, | 0:04:13 | 0:04:15
so you've got to bring it in to travel and put it back out for space. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:20
The last thing I do after we've arrived | 0:04:22 | 0:04:25
is check on my lizard, Savanna. | 0:04:25 | 0:04:27
It's quite an unusual pet to have | 0:04:28 | 0:04:31
but she's really... she's really nice. | 0:04:31 | 0:04:34
She's fun. | 0:04:34 | 0:04:35
Because we move around a lot she's like my best thing, really, | 0:04:35 | 0:04:39
like one of my best friends. | 0:04:39 | 0:04:42
You want to go back, hey? Come on then. | 0:04:43 | 0:04:47
After the final caravans arrive, | 0:04:48 | 0:04:50
the power goes off and we all go to sleep, | 0:04:50 | 0:04:54
as tomorrow the hard work really begins. | 0:04:54 | 0:04:57
I usually start the day down at my mum and dad's. | 0:05:02 | 0:05:05
My mum cooks a mean breakfast. | 0:05:05 | 0:05:07
What are you playing? | 0:05:07 | 0:05:10
-Motocross. -What? | 0:05:10 | 0:05:11
Motocross. | 0:05:11 | 0:05:13
I don't really have a bad thought about this place. | 0:05:13 | 0:05:15
Everything is fun. | 0:05:15 | 0:05:17
You still have loads of friends, you still have all your family | 0:05:17 | 0:05:20
and that's most important to me. | 0:05:20 | 0:05:23
So what time is the barbecue tonight? | 0:05:23 | 0:05:25
I don't know, but I'm going to do a bouncy castle now. | 0:05:25 | 0:05:28
-Ohhhh, is it Digi's birthday today? -Yes. | 0:05:28 | 0:05:29
No way! | 0:05:29 | 0:05:30
Sometimes when I go to visit my friends in their house, | 0:05:33 | 0:05:35
after about three days it just gets really, really boring. | 0:05:35 | 0:05:38
Circus is a really good life. | 0:05:38 | 0:05:40
It's straight to work after breakfast | 0:05:45 | 0:05:47
and the first thing on the list is to put the big tent up. | 0:05:47 | 0:05:51
And everyone helps out. | 0:05:51 | 0:05:52
While some people finish off the tent, | 0:05:57 | 0:06:00
me and my dad have another job to do. | 0:06:00 | 0:06:02
We go to the beach then, yeah? | 0:06:02 | 0:06:04
Our first performance is tomorrow, so we have to get the word out. | 0:06:04 | 0:06:08
ENGINE REVS | 0:06:08 | 0:06:10
-All good? -Yeah. | 0:06:10 | 0:06:12
The more flyers we can give out, the busier the show will be. | 0:06:12 | 0:06:15
-OK, Scarborough, here we come! -Yeah! | 0:06:15 | 0:06:17
TRUCK HORN SOUNDS | 0:06:20 | 0:06:22
Roll up, roll up, come along, | 0:06:24 | 0:06:26
and see the very best circus today at four and seven. | 0:06:26 | 0:06:29
Don't delay, book today! | 0:06:32 | 0:06:35
Ticket for the circus? | 0:06:39 | 0:06:41
There you go. | 0:06:41 | 0:06:42
I go out a lot with my dad to learn things. | 0:06:42 | 0:06:44
Ticket for the circus, yeah? | 0:06:44 | 0:06:47
I love it, like... With my boy, it's all day together, | 0:06:47 | 0:06:52
doing what I do and I'm teaching him everything I know and that's it. | 0:06:52 | 0:06:56
Ticket for the circus? | 0:06:56 | 0:06:58
Dad doesn't just teach me about performing, he tells me | 0:06:58 | 0:07:00
about business too, because one day I'll be running things. | 0:07:00 | 0:07:05
OK, we finish here, let's go down there. | 0:07:05 | 0:07:08
Everyone here works as a team. | 0:07:13 | 0:07:15
They all help each other out and try and do it quicker. | 0:07:15 | 0:07:18
Everyone that put it together is in the ring as well. | 0:07:21 | 0:07:25
The Kenyan boys do an act with acrobats. | 0:07:26 | 0:07:29
They do the seats. | 0:07:34 | 0:07:36
Marco Polo over there does the high wire. | 0:07:38 | 0:07:41
Gary over there, he does ringmaster. | 0:07:44 | 0:07:47
Let me hear you! | 0:07:47 | 0:07:50
Rafaella, Jason and Dave do the globe of death. | 0:07:50 | 0:07:54
OK, guys, one, two, hup. | 0:07:57 | 0:07:58
However old we are and whatever act we perform, | 0:07:58 | 0:08:02
we all have to help put the tent up. | 0:08:02 | 0:08:05
Here no-one's, like, higher, lower, they're all at the same level. | 0:08:06 | 0:08:11
Just because someone does an act doesn't mean they're better | 0:08:11 | 0:08:15
or a star or something like that. | 0:08:15 | 0:08:16
It's like a big family. Everyone helps each other. | 0:08:16 | 0:08:19
The tent takes a day to put up with everyone helping. | 0:08:21 | 0:08:24
As soon as people see the big top, | 0:08:24 | 0:08:27
they start coming to buy tickets and that pays all the wages. | 0:08:27 | 0:08:32
-Right, seven o'clock, yes? -Yes, two adults and a child. | 0:08:32 | 0:08:36
And my nan runs the ticket office. | 0:08:36 | 0:08:39
You can tell by seeing how many cars come in and out. | 0:08:40 | 0:08:43
If you only see one car, you know it's not that good, but when you see | 0:08:43 | 0:08:46
lots coming in and out, you think, "Oh, it's going to be good today." | 0:08:46 | 0:08:49
This is for Sunday. | 0:08:49 | 0:08:51
Throughout the show, we've got about 42 people altogether | 0:08:56 | 0:09:00
and we're all different ages, different groups, | 0:09:00 | 0:09:02
different nationalities. | 0:09:02 | 0:09:04
Yeah, it's just kind of a big family. | 0:09:07 | 0:09:09
Some of us are here all year round - others just come and go. | 0:09:11 | 0:09:15
This is Polito. His dad is Marco Polo the tightrope walker. | 0:09:15 | 0:09:19
Polito helps Marco Polo get his act ready. | 0:09:21 | 0:09:24
I've known Polito since he was about five. | 0:09:25 | 0:09:28
We're really good mates, we play along a lot. | 0:09:28 | 0:09:31
Play with motorbikes, play football. | 0:09:31 | 0:09:33
Ready? | 0:09:33 | 0:09:35
We've got a lot in common | 0:09:39 | 0:09:41
because, you know, we've been brought up in the circus. | 0:09:41 | 0:09:44
I mean, he basically lives with me. That's how much good friends we are. | 0:09:44 | 0:09:48
Polito and his brothers Diego and Enrique | 0:09:50 | 0:09:53
are here for the summer season and they do tumbling in the show. | 0:09:53 | 0:09:59
My dad does the high wire, like tightrope but with a wire. | 0:10:01 | 0:10:08
I think my dad's act is really cool. | 0:10:08 | 0:10:11
He starts off with the normal walking across the wire | 0:10:11 | 0:10:13
and then he builds it up with the music. | 0:10:13 | 0:10:16
And then he's dancing on the chair like this. | 0:10:19 | 0:10:23
Their family moved over from Mexico but the boys aren't sure | 0:10:25 | 0:10:29
if they want to stay in the circus. | 0:10:29 | 0:10:31
My dream thing... Everybody has a dream, you know that, don't you? | 0:10:32 | 0:10:36
And I want to become a footballer. | 0:10:36 | 0:10:39
My dream for the future is being a gymnast and a trampolinist. | 0:10:39 | 0:10:44
-Playing with hoops again? -Hula-hooping! | 0:10:46 | 0:10:49
The girls behind us...is Rositta and Eva. They come every year. | 0:10:51 | 0:10:56
Well, we come back to the circus a lot because we were born here | 0:10:56 | 0:10:59
and we love it. | 0:10:59 | 0:11:01
The girls now live in a house | 0:11:01 | 0:11:03
but they want to come back to live here again. | 0:11:03 | 0:11:06
It's nice coming back and nice seeing all our friends. | 0:11:06 | 0:11:10
The best thing about coming back to the circus is seeing everyone | 0:11:10 | 0:11:14
that we've known our whole lives | 0:11:14 | 0:11:16
and just being in a place that we can call home. | 0:11:16 | 0:11:19
So they keep practising their hoop act ready for their return. | 0:11:21 | 0:11:25
Tom and his family have recently joined our circus. | 0:11:28 | 0:11:32
His mum works behind the scenes but Tom needs to learn an act. | 0:11:32 | 0:11:36
It might take years of practice | 0:11:36 | 0:11:38
but I'd like to do something with motorbikes. | 0:11:38 | 0:11:40
Well, my dream act is definitely to be a silk artist | 0:11:44 | 0:11:48
but I'd like to start my career with maybe a smaller act, | 0:11:48 | 0:11:52
like a hula hoop act. | 0:11:52 | 0:11:54
My dream act is to start off with floor acts | 0:11:54 | 0:11:58
until I develop the upper body strength, then do a trapeze act. | 0:11:58 | 0:12:02
Yeah, and we're absolutely determined to definitely come back. | 0:12:02 | 0:12:07
Yeah, we're definitely coming back. | 0:12:07 | 0:12:09
Definitely. | 0:12:09 | 0:12:11
On the day the tent goes up, we have a big barbecue. | 0:12:14 | 0:12:18
We're going to have a get-together as always. Bit of a barbecue. | 0:12:18 | 0:12:22
Good food, good company. | 0:12:22 | 0:12:24
You hungry, kids? | 0:12:24 | 0:12:26
Everyone's been working really hard today, like every day, | 0:12:27 | 0:12:31
and today, when we have our barbecue, | 0:12:31 | 0:12:33
they like it cos they don't have to cook! | 0:12:33 | 0:12:37
They just come and eat together, play football, it's fun. | 0:12:37 | 0:12:41
None of us have a set time to go to bed or to get up | 0:12:43 | 0:12:46
so as long as we're ready for when the show starts tomorrow | 0:12:46 | 0:12:49
we can have as much fun as we like. | 0:12:49 | 0:12:51
Let's get on! Get your helmet on! | 0:12:51 | 0:12:53
It's times like these when I love the circus. | 0:12:53 | 0:12:56
What child wouldn't like a life in the circus? | 0:12:56 | 0:13:00
They're only young once, aren't they? | 0:13:00 | 0:13:03
Because it's private land, even though I'm only 14 | 0:13:03 | 0:13:06
I can ride my motorbike on-site whenever I want. | 0:13:06 | 0:13:09
But I always make sure that others know how important safety is. | 0:13:12 | 0:13:15
Let's go! Get your helmet on! | 0:13:15 | 0:13:18
Almost as soon as we learn to walk, we start practising our acts. | 0:13:23 | 0:13:27
So we learn to do everything safely. | 0:13:27 | 0:13:30
One, two, three, three... | 0:13:30 | 0:13:34
My sister's been training since she was five. She's now 17. | 0:13:34 | 0:13:38
She's one of the stars of the show. | 0:13:38 | 0:13:41
It's hard work, it's dedication, it's effort, | 0:13:41 | 0:13:44
it's everything, basically. | 0:13:44 | 0:13:46
Kids kind of come up to you | 0:13:48 | 0:13:50
and they're like, "How do you join the circus?" | 0:13:50 | 0:13:53
It's like, "Well, a lot of practice, you know?" | 0:13:53 | 0:13:56
She performs routines on the trapeze and on the ropes. | 0:13:56 | 0:14:00
Trapeze is kind of like traditional circus from years and years ago. | 0:14:01 | 0:14:05
It's mainly sort of upper body strength that you need. | 0:14:05 | 0:14:09
Practice is, like, pull-ups, push-ups and keep practising. | 0:14:09 | 0:14:14
You put the hands here and here... | 0:14:15 | 0:14:17
She's being coached by Zoli. | 0:14:17 | 0:14:19
He learnt his act with the famous Cirque du Soleil. | 0:14:19 | 0:14:24
My sister practises every day, but there's a price to pay. | 0:14:36 | 0:14:39
I've got sort of bruises, cuts, all over the place | 0:14:41 | 0:14:44
that you don't even know where from. | 0:14:44 | 0:14:46
I got bruised there. | 0:14:46 | 0:14:49
With this one, I've being doing the rope for about over a year now | 0:14:49 | 0:14:53
and because it's sort of a hand loop that you're holding, | 0:14:53 | 0:14:56
you're putting all your pressure onto that one hand, | 0:14:56 | 0:14:59
so it's kind of just killed the skin, | 0:14:59 | 0:15:02
which isn't very nice to look at, | 0:15:02 | 0:15:05
but I guess if you love what you do, | 0:15:05 | 0:15:08
you've just got to face the consequences of what it comes with. | 0:15:08 | 0:15:13
If I find any more, I'll let you know! | 0:15:13 | 0:15:15
With hours of practice over, | 0:15:17 | 0:15:19
it's time to impress the Scarborough crowds. | 0:15:19 | 0:15:22
Before a show, I'm with my older brother, Josh. | 0:15:22 | 0:15:25
He's one of the black shirt boys. | 0:15:25 | 0:15:28
They look after the caravans and all the equipment but they also | 0:15:28 | 0:15:31
take tickets and help with the safety during the performance. | 0:15:31 | 0:15:36
Five minutes until show time. You'll hear the whistle in a minute | 0:15:36 | 0:15:39
and then everybody will get ready | 0:15:39 | 0:15:41
to put their costume on and get ready to start our show. | 0:15:41 | 0:15:43
We have two performances a day, six times a week. | 0:15:43 | 0:15:47
But I still feel excited when I hear the ringmaster's voice. | 0:15:47 | 0:15:51
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... | 0:15:51 | 0:15:53
AUDIENCE CHEER AND APPLAUD | 0:15:53 | 0:15:56
And once we're under way, one of the last to get ready is me. | 0:15:56 | 0:16:00
I'm part of the motorbike stunt team. | 0:16:02 | 0:16:04
In fact, at 14, I'm Europe's youngest stunt rider. | 0:16:06 | 0:16:10
He does mega for his age. | 0:16:12 | 0:16:14
No-one else kind of gets to do as much as he does, performing | 0:16:14 | 0:16:17
for hundreds of people every day. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:20
I could definitely say my boy is talented. | 0:16:22 | 0:16:26
What he does is amazing. | 0:16:26 | 0:16:30
He's so good at what he does. He's very, very good. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:35
I've been riding a motorbike since I was four. | 0:16:35 | 0:16:39
Nearly all my life. | 0:16:39 | 0:16:41
It's what I love to do. | 0:16:41 | 0:16:43
But I know it can be dangerous. | 0:16:45 | 0:16:48
I watch nearly every show and my heart starts pumping, | 0:16:48 | 0:16:52
but once I see him inside and enjoying himself, | 0:16:52 | 0:16:55
I just...relax a little bit but anyway, yes, | 0:16:55 | 0:17:00
it's very...nervous to watch him, yes. | 0:17:00 | 0:17:04
Don't watch my little one. Can't watch him, no. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:09
I used to work with my sister | 0:17:11 | 0:17:14
and I wasn't as good as I was now | 0:17:14 | 0:17:18
and I stopped too low | 0:17:18 | 0:17:20
and it was upsetting that, like, I hit my sister, obviously, | 0:17:20 | 0:17:25
then it just put me off doing it, in case I injured her. | 0:17:25 | 0:17:28
He came crying his eyes out, "My sister, my sister!" | 0:17:30 | 0:17:32
And she was saying, "I'm fine, there's nothing on me, | 0:17:32 | 0:17:34
"you didn't touch me." But of course, when it's your sister | 0:17:34 | 0:17:37
or your brother or whatever, you panic. | 0:17:37 | 0:17:39
And he was absolutely terrified for quite a while after. | 0:17:39 | 0:17:43
He didn't perform for about eight months. | 0:17:43 | 0:17:45
That was the last time I did a routine with my sister, | 0:17:45 | 0:17:49
but now, in just a few days, we'll be performing again. | 0:17:49 | 0:17:54
'Today there's a new arrival at the circus - the monster truck. | 0:17:58 | 0:18:02
'My dad plans to use it in a joint circus and stunt show.' | 0:18:04 | 0:18:08
We have to put the little wheels on it to transport it | 0:18:10 | 0:18:12
because it's too wide on the trailer. | 0:18:12 | 0:18:15
Just on my way to fill the monster truck with petrol. | 0:18:17 | 0:18:22
I don't think kids my age would know how to do things like I do. | 0:18:22 | 0:18:27
I would say I'm different to other kids. | 0:18:27 | 0:18:30
These three buttons here - that starts it. | 0:18:36 | 0:18:38
Then you pull this out if there's ever fire, | 0:18:38 | 0:18:40
and then the fire extinguisher goes all under the engine. | 0:18:40 | 0:18:45
This here is, like, the gear stick. | 0:18:45 | 0:18:49
It's really cool, the way I'm only 14 | 0:18:56 | 0:19:00
but I get to have a monster truck, | 0:19:00 | 0:19:01
motorbikes, it's like any man, any boy's dream to have one. | 0:19:01 | 0:19:07
I learn different things from different people. | 0:19:09 | 0:19:13
I learn a lot of stuff from my dad...from my grandad... | 0:19:13 | 0:19:16
-Do you want them hard? -Yes, about 5p a side. | 0:19:16 | 0:19:19
I learn better things here than in school. | 0:19:20 | 0:19:25
When I learn as much as I can, when I have children, | 0:19:28 | 0:19:32
I'll pass it on to them, they'll pass it on to their children. | 0:19:32 | 0:19:35
'Our performers come from all over the world. | 0:19:37 | 0:19:39
'And from them I've learned to speak three languages. | 0:19:39 | 0:19:44
'Romanian, Portuguese and my dad's language, Bulgarian.' | 0:19:44 | 0:19:50
I learn a lot of languages | 0:19:52 | 0:19:54
because different people, like, different countries... | 0:19:54 | 0:19:57
HE SPEAKS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE | 0:19:57 | 0:20:00
I ask them how you say this, and they teach me | 0:20:00 | 0:20:03
and I pick that up, then different languages, different people. | 0:20:03 | 0:20:08
ENGINE STARTS | 0:20:08 | 0:20:10
Now it's down to me to see how the truck runs. | 0:20:10 | 0:20:13
'I could stay helping out all day with my friends, | 0:20:35 | 0:20:39
'but I have to catch up with my homework.' | 0:20:39 | 0:20:41
Schoolwork isn't that relevant to circus, | 0:20:41 | 0:20:44
because it's more, like, acts and needing to know how to drive | 0:20:44 | 0:20:47
and needing to know how to put a tent up and school doesn't | 0:20:47 | 0:20:50
really teach you them sort of things for circus life, | 0:20:50 | 0:20:54
so as long as you can read and write | 0:20:54 | 0:20:56
and add up, that's probably the main things. | 0:20:56 | 0:21:00
I do probably, like, twice a week or three times a week. | 0:21:00 | 0:21:03
I really like to try and make it the best I can do. | 0:21:03 | 0:21:07
I may have to do school work, but I'm always learning fun things too. | 0:21:10 | 0:21:14
My dad wants to teach me a new trick for the stunt show. | 0:21:15 | 0:21:19
Me and Peter are going to be doing the motorbike on the wire. | 0:21:19 | 0:21:23
It's basically a motorbike with a sort of trapeze underneath it. | 0:21:23 | 0:21:27
Ten years ago me and Pav used to do this, and Peter will be | 0:21:27 | 0:21:31
looking straight ahead, keeping it in balance, so as long as he keeps | 0:21:31 | 0:21:34
straight up and down, then they should be all right. | 0:21:34 | 0:21:37
We've only got until tomorrow really cos that's when the show's on, so, | 0:21:37 | 0:21:42
we're going to try and get it as best as we can in that little time. | 0:21:42 | 0:21:46
'I'll be doing the routine without a helmet so I can see and talk to | 0:21:46 | 0:21:51
'my sister, and it helps to keep the bike balanced and the stunt safe.' | 0:21:51 | 0:21:55
Use the gears to stop. | 0:21:56 | 0:21:58
I like it when I get something passed on and then I do it. | 0:22:02 | 0:22:06
And I think my dad's happy that I did something that he did before. | 0:22:08 | 0:22:11
One hand up! | 0:22:11 | 0:22:13
'So all I can do is practise until our big day tomorrow.' | 0:22:16 | 0:22:20
Today is going to be a busy day. It's our last day in Scarborough. | 0:22:27 | 0:22:31
We have our stunt show and our final circus performance. | 0:22:31 | 0:22:35
We want it to be a day the crowds won't forget. | 0:22:36 | 0:22:40
Hello, you nervous? | 0:22:40 | 0:22:41
No, it's fun, why are you nervous? | 0:22:41 | 0:22:44
Cos I am, cos you're my baby! | 0:22:44 | 0:22:47
JD is a stunt organiser. | 0:22:49 | 0:22:52
He makes sure we all do things safely. | 0:22:52 | 0:22:55
Do the best you can, put on a good show, I know you're good at it. | 0:22:55 | 0:22:58
Be careful and be safe, OK? Good man. | 0:22:58 | 0:23:01
Welcome to Nitro Stunts! | 0:23:03 | 0:23:06
Whatever happens, I'm so proud of you, OK? | 0:23:06 | 0:23:09
After taking my helmet off, I'm ready for my stunt. | 0:23:22 | 0:23:27
Not nervous at the minute, but as soon as he gets up there | 0:23:28 | 0:23:31
I might be a little bit. | 0:23:31 | 0:23:32
You just think, concentrate, like, know what you're doing, | 0:23:33 | 0:23:38
don't show off and then everything pulls together. | 0:23:38 | 0:23:42
Let's hear it for them! | 0:23:42 | 0:23:43
And my sister needs the MC on board to help with balance. | 0:23:43 | 0:23:47
It's really fun, cos you're high, you can see all the crowds, | 0:23:53 | 0:23:56
you see all the people. | 0:23:56 | 0:23:57
It's fun. And you're on the motorbike, so it's even more fun. | 0:24:00 | 0:24:03
It's all over so quickly, | 0:24:06 | 0:24:08
but I'm proud that I've done a stunt my mum and dad used to do. | 0:24:08 | 0:24:11
Well, that went good! | 0:24:11 | 0:24:14
After the stunt show finishes, | 0:24:14 | 0:24:16
there's not much time before my big challenge. | 0:24:16 | 0:24:19
Our final Scarborough show starts in just 30 minutes. | 0:24:19 | 0:24:22
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, | 0:24:24 | 0:24:27
and welcome to the all-new Planet Circus! | 0:24:27 | 0:24:30
Let me hear ya! | 0:24:30 | 0:24:32
Watching the circus isn't like watching TV. | 0:24:36 | 0:24:39
This is all live, right in front of your eyes. | 0:24:39 | 0:24:42
Anything could happen, that's why people like it. | 0:24:44 | 0:24:47
My sister completes her spins, even with her bruised wrists, | 0:24:51 | 0:24:55
and then it's my turn to do what I do best - | 0:24:55 | 0:24:59
my world-famous act called the Globe of Death. | 0:24:59 | 0:25:04
I'd say I'm a showman, cos I like doing all my things that I can do. | 0:25:06 | 0:25:11
He just does it like he's been doing it all his life, | 0:25:12 | 0:25:15
and he's only 14! | 0:25:15 | 0:25:17
In one way he's like every other 14-year-old, | 0:25:19 | 0:25:21
but in another way he's got another side to him, which is | 0:25:21 | 0:25:24
motorbikes and stunts and the globe. He's got to be unique. | 0:25:24 | 0:25:29
You just get your motorbike and go flying around. It's really fun. | 0:25:39 | 0:25:43
The noise, the power... | 0:25:43 | 0:25:45
When I'm performing, I love it when people are cheering | 0:25:47 | 0:25:50
and it just makes it more fun. | 0:25:50 | 0:25:52
Loves the crowd, yeah, he gets them going, he's brilliant. | 0:25:58 | 0:26:02
I think he's very, very talented | 0:26:06 | 0:26:09
and it's just really amazing, what he does. | 0:26:09 | 0:26:12
This is the act that I used to do with my sister. | 0:26:17 | 0:26:20
Peter's very naturally talented, | 0:26:22 | 0:26:24
he's definitely got something in him. | 0:26:24 | 0:26:26
He's so good at what he does, he's very, very good. | 0:26:26 | 0:26:29
After so long not riding with my sister, I finally did it. | 0:26:30 | 0:26:34
You're never the best, you're never... | 0:26:35 | 0:26:37
You know, like, you're never the greatest, | 0:26:37 | 0:26:40
cos there's always something or someone | 0:26:40 | 0:26:42
that's better or... So, you're never the best at everything. | 0:26:42 | 0:26:46
After the audience go home, we still have a long night ahead of us. | 0:26:46 | 0:26:51
It's time for the pull-down! | 0:26:51 | 0:26:53
This is when we pack up the tent and move to our next stand. | 0:26:55 | 0:27:00
The circus is all about performing, but it's also about moving on. | 0:27:00 | 0:27:06
Well, that's it, I'm done, finally. | 0:27:06 | 0:27:08
I'm quite happy that we're leaving now. | 0:27:09 | 0:27:12
Well, this is me, travelling and packing up. | 0:27:12 | 0:27:15
We're going to Pontefract next and that's a good place, | 0:27:16 | 0:27:19
so I'm looking forward to getting there tonight. | 0:27:19 | 0:27:21
Tomorrow's going to... we're going to put the tent up, | 0:27:23 | 0:27:26
get all set up again and get ready to do a week in Pontefract. | 0:27:26 | 0:27:30
Circus life is all I know, I don't really know any other sort of life. | 0:27:33 | 0:27:38
It's always moving around and seeing different things, | 0:27:38 | 0:27:41
and different towns and different people. | 0:27:41 | 0:27:44
That's why I love it. | 0:27:44 | 0:27:45
My life's never boring, I'd never change it, not ever. | 0:27:47 | 0:27:52 |
