Mrs Fieldhouse and the class are preparing for Remembrance Day -

a special day when people remember

and give thanks to those who fought for their country.

Wearing a poppy is one of the ways some people choose

to show their respect.

..and on a special day, going and thinking about them,

and being very quiet and thoughtful.

So, we are...

going to make poppies in as many different ways as we can.

Who would like to go and make paper poppies, first of all?

Who would like to go and make salt dough? Davy.

Davy would! Off you go.

Who would like to paint? We only need two people at a time.

I'll have Tyler and Pandra.

Ooh, look at that big brush!

Pandra and Tyler are going to use thick, red paint.

Look! They're starting to look like poppies already.

That's Callum and that's his mum.

Some of the parents have come in to help.

Abby is making the petals out of tissue paper.

Well, Davy's going to cut leaves out.

then put that on the top.

they are bending and twisting the branches into a circle shape.

-You can, but you have to take the leaves off it first, Abby.

By weaving the willow, they are making wreaths.

What will Davy and Libby do with the poppies and the wreath?

-So, what are we're doing with the poppies.

and then weave it.

-The wreath looks good.

I think you need a longer-stick one.

-Yeah, we've got loads left.

-Six. Well done.

-Seven.

Oh, seven. Well done, Davy. Fit one into there.

-So lovely.

We've only got one more left.

So why don't you work together and do it together?

We'll take it down to school and we'll put it with the other ones.

The children are taking the wreaths to a special place.

It's a monument made to help people remember those who fought in wars.

The poppy wreaths are placed at the bottom of the monument, one by one.

What a lovely thing to do.
