-People have gathered to raise funds

-to protect the future of the site.

-Let's take a closer look

-at what this site has to offer.

-Gareth Jones was one of the first

-to support the Moelyci Initiative.

-Like many others, he's hoping

-the centre has a bright future.

-Why did you decide to be part

-of the Moelyci Initiative?

-I live locally and the children

-played here when it was a farm.

-Fifteen years ago, it was sold and

-became something for the whole area.

-A lot of positive things have

-happened in those years...

-..such as the allotments and shop.

-That brings us to the present where

-the situation is quite different...

-..but look forward

-to moving into the future.

-This time of day, it starts

-to wind down at the allotment.

-Everyone has a reason for owning an

-allotment, tell us about yours.

-Two years ago, I discovered that I

-had cancer and needed treatment.

-I wanted something to occupy my mind

-and my friends had allotments.

-I took over an allotment and

-it's the best that I've done.

-There are 60 allotments and

-we're all like a family...

-..that help each other out,

-share seeds and plants.

-This has helped me forget my illness

-and my soul is at peace here.

-Moelyci has given many experiences

-to different people.

-We hope to carry on and

-have a bright future.

-This site is certainly important

-to the locals.

-The allotments are wonderful.

-Carol Williams is the manager of the

-shop and cafe at the Moelyci Centre.

-I've organized this night.

-There's a crisis afoot.

-At the moment,

-we need to raise 150,000...

-..to save this site.

-We have a consortium.

-The shop and cafe

-needs to raise about 25,000...

-..to secure our place.

-This site has a lot to offer.

-Every day at work is wonderful...

-..and we have volunteers

-who range from 14 to 82!

-This is a great place to walk

-and relax.

-It's an exciting place

-for the community.

-The shop has raised about 10,000.

-I've got a few weeks to go.

-We still need to raise the 150,000.

-There are five different walks...

-..that are going to be held

-all through next year.

-This is quite a challenge.

-The aim is to raise funds.

-We like to try and raise funds.

-for a local charity.

-It's for the Brecon Mountain Rescue

-Team.

-There's a few mountain rescue teams

-who serve a wide area.

-There's a lot of organizers involved

-in this area.

-Two walking communities are involved

-in these tours.

-They are the societies in Tregaron

-and the Devil's Bridge area.

-One of the tours

-is named after George Borrow.

-George Borrow said that Pumlumon was

-the highest peak in the world.!

-There's also a trail

-called Caradog Jones.

-We have the Sabrina trail.

-It follows the route

-of the River Severn.

-We have another trail named after a

-mountaineer called Chris Bonington.

-He spent the first night

-of his honeymoon on the mountain!

-How can people get involved?

-This is suitable for everyone.

-to prepare for the walk.

-..when she opened a clothes shop

-in Llanidloes ten years ago.

-The business has

-a very interesting history.

-This year, the British fashion

-designer, Gok Wan surprised them.

-Yvonne went to hear about it.

-A visit to L'Armoire

-in Llanidloes...

-..is like stepping into a

-colourful wardrobe and back in time.

-This site was built in 1894

-by Edward Hamer who was a butcher.

-It was open for over 200 years

-before closing in 2005...

-..and L'armoire has been here

-for about nine years.

-It's a fantastic building.

-We still have the original tables

-where they chopped the meat...

-..as well as the original tiles

-and rails where the meat was hung.

-There's also the original till and

-one table is used as our counter.

-The well-known designer, Gok Wan...

-..is raising awareness about

-independent fashion stores.

-The shop had a special call

-from the man himself.

-He said, "I've hand-picked you to be

-part of our Fashion Brunch Club."

-He's taken this club through the UK

-but the event was held in Cardiff.

-He said, "I'd like to invite you

-to be the first shop...

-"..to take part in a live makeover."

-Laura's a great friend to the locals

-and often helps good causes.

-I'm involved with a charity

-in Montgomeryshire.

-She organized two fashion shows for

-us in the past and one in the shop.

-She has raised over 5,000

-in that time which is invaluable.

-I enjoy learning Welsh

-because the customers speak Welsh...

-..and they are from all over Wales.

-Local residents enjoy supporting

-these independent businesses.

-I'm from Aberhafesp

-on the outskirts of Newtown.

-It's important to have

-this local shop...

-..so we're not swamped with choice

-in the cities.

-It's a lovely shop.

-I like seeing the new colours

-for the new season...

-..and finding things to suit me.

-This great shop puts Llanidloes on

-the map and helps the local economy.

-I remember it as a butcher's

-with all the meat on display...

-..and the butchers were friends

-with everyone in the area.

-The slaughterhouse

-was behind the shop...

-..and I'd bring lambs here with Dad.

-I never expected to work

-in this shop selling clothes...

-..after seeing all the sausages!

-The next L'Armoire fashion show

-is at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel...

-The best way to describe ThunderCats

-is rally cars on water.

-These are small, quick...

-..noisy boats...

-..that race on tight

-and winding courses.

-They occasionally

-fly through the air.

-The people of Wales

-are quite good at this sport.

-This year, two teams from West Wales

-were named British Champions.

-Simon Harding and Mark Lloyd

-won the Modified UK Championship.

-Robert Davies and Darren Phillips

-were the overall winning team.

-I love the sea and motocross

-and rallying so wanted to mix it up.

-I'd seen videos on YouTube

-and wanted to try it myself.

-One day, I bought an engine,

-borrowed a boat and off I went.

-I didn't have a co-pilot

-so asked a friend to join me.

-We won the final on our first day

-out and were third for that day.

-A four-metre rib with a 50cc engine

-doesn't look like much...

-..but it has an incredible ability.

-On a flat calm day like today,

-we'd be looking at 60mph.

-The boat is so flat,

-so turn like they are on rails...

-..and we get about 3.5G in a turn

-so there are quite a lot of forces.

-When we do the surf discipline,

-we could race in nine-foot waves.

-We hit the waves at 35-40mph and get

-shot in the air and it does hurt!

-I love motorbikes and have

-a lot of respect for the riders...

-..but have the same amount

-of respect for these people.

-There's a lot of time and money

-involved in the sport.

-Every spare second

-is spent on tending to the engine.

-Winning a national championship

-makes the hard work worthwhile.

-It was brilliant and we dedicated

-a lot of time to the championship.

-There was a lot of late nights

-and long weekends but it's awesome.

-The season lasts for nine months

-and we compete in about ten races...

-..from the north

-to the south of England.

-There's usually five races on

-a Saturday and five on a Sunday...

-..with a final each day

-where you can win double points.

-The winner is the person

-with the most points.

-I won the British Championship last

-year and this year but I want more.

-Next year, I'm going to focus on

-France and the World Championship.

-We've done eight years

-in ThunderCat...

-..and looking to step up

-to Offshore Racing Class Three.

-It's a big step for myself and Mark

-as the boat's totally different...

-..and we'll get a steering wheel

-and seat in the next boat.

-It's a big learning curve and we're

-looking forward to the challenge.

-You know me well enough by now.

-I wouldn't come all the way to

-Milford Haven without having a go!

-One thing is certain...

-..I didn't know what to expect

-but it was much more exciting.

-I want to do it again.

-Go and see them if you get

-the chance in the future.
