-Yes, that's right.

-It's a novel called Norte.

-All Saints Church in Penarth...

-..as the Heol y March choir launches

-its new CD with a special concert.

-Yvonne is at the launch.

-It's an important

-and musical evening.

-Before I chat with the choir,

-let's hear more about Heol y March.

-# Clear voices in the breeze

-and white snow falls at night #

-I formed Cor Heol Y March choir

-back in 2009.

-The area was brimming with talent

-and we needed a children's choir.

-We started with 22 choristers

-but there are 40 of us today.

-Our youngest member is eight

-and our eldest is sixteen years old.

-# Hosanna in excelsis! #

-The choir has entered many

-competitions over the years.

-We gained considerable success at

-the Eisteddfod in the early days.

-We competed at the Llangollen

-International Musical Eisteddfod.

-The choir also entered

-this year's Cor Cymru.

-Cor Heol Y March.

-Winning Cor Cymru was momentous

-for the children, parents and me.

-We were competing against our finest

-choirs in this magnificent event.

-It was an amazing experience.

-# Hei-di-ho, di-hei-di-dei-di-ho

-# With the wind blowing

-to its door each morning #

-Having released our debut CD...

-..we want to learn new, challenging

-songs and enter more competitions.

-The choir has had a lot of success.

-What does it mean for you to launch

-a new CD tonight, Eleri Roberts?

-It was very important

-for us to make a CD.

-The CD is a chronicle of the choir's

-past six years.

-There's songs from the early days...

-..right up to the repertoire

-from this year's Cor Cymru.

-The CD looks wonderful

-and I like the cover.

-Yes, and it's very trendy.

-The horse's head is in the shape of

-the treble clef.

-The CD is called Suon y Don.

-It's a seahorse with the waves

-in the background.

-The choir is performing tonight...

-..and so is Rhydian Jenkins

-and Elin Williams.

-Let's hear from Lois and Nia who are

-some of the members of the choir.

-It's great to see the CD.

-We can share our songs with

-everyone.

-Did you have to prepare a lot

-for the recording of the CD?

-We recorded for two days.

-However, we've sung the songs for

-six years.

-What is so special about the choir?

-We're just like a family.

-Welcome to Heno, Jon.

-You've released

-a new novel called Norte.

-Norte is the Spanish word for north.

-It's the story of a young boy...

-..who wants to travel to the north

-of the country.

-We also follow another character...

-..who ends up in Iraq.

-It's a real tour of the world.

-How did you do your research?

-I'm obsessed with Mexico and Latin

-America.

-I remember meeting a man and he told

-me about the atrocities...

-..that can happen to the people

-who travel through Mexico.

-It was all portrayed in a film.

-It was difficult to show the film

-to the people.

-Have you spoken to the filmmaker

-again?

-No, not yet.

-I will tell him.

-It was interesting to take the Welsh

-language...

-..and place in countries that don't

-speak Welsh.

-I hope it's

-linguistically interesting.

-This is a factual novel.

-A lot of the countries

-are violent.

-There are a few place names

-that I chose to make up myself!

-The novel is a combination of facts

-and fiction.

-I hope reading this book

-is also educational.

-A novel is often more interesting to

-read.

-I don't know if this is an

-award-winning novel.

-I got a new bathroom thanks

-to the Book of the Year award!

-Writing books is all about awards.

-I just want one person to enjoy my

-book.

-It's even better if more than one

-person enjoys it.

-Cardiff was full to bursting as its

-Winter Wonderland officially opened.

-It's a popular attraction

-every year.

-Rhodri Gomer was at the opening

-and met a very special visitor.

-For over ten years...

-..the Cardiff Winter Wonderland

-has attracted a host of visitors...

-..and this year

-will be no exception.

-Following the success of the past...

-..over 300,000 people are expected

-on the site outside City Hall.

-I've been lucky enough to get

-an invite to its opening day.

-Everyone wants to go skating and

-it gets you into the Christmas mood.

-This year, we've got the ice rink,

-Alpine Village for dining...

-..and loads of attractions

-such as the helter skelter.

-The big wheel has proved to be

-very popular for many years.

-Standing the same height

-as three double-decker buses...

-..the 24 gondolas offer

-unique views of Cardiff.

-One of the new attractions this year

-are the ice sculptures...

-..that are kept in a room at a

-temperature of -8 degrees Celsius.

-They are certainly worth seeing.

-There's a sculpture of Shane

-Williams, the Ball in the Wall...

-..and you can have your photo taken

-with Father Christmas.

-The organizers have invited

-a familiar face to the opening.

-How do you feel about seeing

-yourself in ice, Shane Williams?

-It's the first time that I've had

-an ice sculpture of myself.

-They've got it right as my ears are

-the right size but the legs are big!

-They've put in a lot of time,

-effort and money...

-..for this sculpture and the ones

-of Father Christmas and the trees.

-I love Christmas

-and so do my wife and children.

-It's like being in the cryo chambers

-in Poland as it's freezing in here!

-It took 120 hours to carve twelve

-figures out of 40,000kg of ice.

-What did you enjoy most

-about the Ice Kingdom, Carter?

-The statues of Father Christmas

-and Daddy.

-Did you prefer Father Christmas

-or Dad?

-Dad.

-Dad.

-That's the right answer!

-It's growing every year and

-we're hoping for 60,000 skaters...

-..and 300,000 visitors

-to enjoy the rides and food.

-It's for the whole family

-and not just for the children.

-The Winter Wonderland is on the

-lawns of City Hall until 3 January.

-It's worth a visit

-It's a family tradition.

-We like to leave it as late as

-..because we don't want Christmas to

-come too early!

-restaurant and theatre...

-Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre.

-In 2012, work started on the

-demolition of Theatr Gwynedd...

-..to make room for a new

-arts and innovation centre.

-A year ago, I visited the site with

-the world-famous singer Bryn Terfel.

-The new theatre takes his name.

-The building site has become

-a striking home for the arts.

-The Pontio centre is a building

-that contains an array of elements.

-It's part of the university

-with excellent lecture halls...

-..offices for the Students' Union,

-a cafe, bar and so on.

-There's also spaces for the public

-to enjoy the arts.

-It bridges the gap between the

-university and the city of Bangor.

-It's wonderful that the building

-is finally open.

-I can't wait to see the students

-and public use the site every day.

-It's a massive six-storey building

-with two theatres...

-..lecture halls, innovation centres,

-a bar and restaurant.

-It's a proud moment for those

-involved in all the hard work.

-It's been interesting but

-I'm delighted to see the end result.

-It's taken a while

-but I'm happy with the way it looks.

-The Memorial Arch and old university

-building are both listed...

-..so this is a conservation area...

-..but we wanted a modern

-and exciting building.

-It's wonderful to see the way

-it bridges the old and the new.

-We wanted to bridge the gap between

-the city and the university...

-..and Deiniol Road

-and the old university building.

-We must remember the young people

-who will use the building...

-..to learn, enjoy and discuss.

-Yes, this is the new home

-of the Students' Union.

-We can't wait

-for the centre to open...

-..because the students will have

-a union in the centre of Bangor.

-It's easy to visit and easier for us

-to campaign for our students.

-Pontio will attract new students

-thanks to its amazing facilities.

-We're in talks about using the site

-for various guest performers.

-I love being on stage so had to see

-the finished Bryn Terfel Theatre...

-..and I wasn't disappointed.

-It's a versatile theatre that

-looks like a traditional theatre...

-..but it can change its form

-so the audience surround the stage.

-The floor can be flattened for a gig

-for students and young people...

-..so it has real scope

-and offers something for everyone.

-to a varied audience.

-Bangor has students, young people...

-..but it's important

-to appeal to them too.

-I think it's been worth the wait

-to have the opening of Pontio.

-It looks amazing

-and good luck to you.
