0:13:510:13:55

-Britain consumes almost

-200 tonnes of cocoa every year.

0:13:550:14:00

-It isn't just children but over 25s

-who buy the majority of chocolate.

0:14:000:14:05

-Chocolate makes us happy due to

-a chemical called theobromine.

0:14:060:14:15

-Research shows that chocolate can

-soothe a cough better than medicine.

0:14:150:14:25

-I'd better have some chocolate.

0:14:300:14:38

-We need to keep our guests happy.

0:14:520:14:56

-The thought of cycling 100 miles in

-a day is a challenge for most of us.

-But it's an achievement for Siwan

-and she was once wheelchair-bound.

0:15:020:15:05

-Elin went to discover more.

0:15:050:15:08

-Siwan Owen

-is originally from Trelogan...

0:15:100:15:13

-..and works as a cancer nurse

-in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital.

0:15:130:15:17

-She's familiar with the cancer unit

-but not because of her work...

0:15:170:15:23

-..but due to her personal journey

-with the illness.

0:15:230:15:28

-You're only 28 years old but have

-gone through a lot in your life.

0:15:300:15:38

-I was very ill aged eleven and went

-to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

0:15:390:15:45

-That's when I had the news that

-I had leukaemia or blood cancer.

0:15:450:15:51

-I started treatment and had two

-and a half years of chemotherapy.

0:15:510:15:58

-After finishing chemotherapy,

-I couldn't walk properly.

0:15:580:16:05

-I had to use a wheelchair for

-ten years and faced many challenges.

0:16:180:16:24

-When I was 25, I had my first

-hip replacement in Birmingham...

0:16:240:16:34

-..and had my second hip replacement

-a year later aged 26.

0:16:340:16:40

-It's a nightmare situation

-for any parent.

0:16:410:16:46

-At that time, we didn't know what

-the future held for our child.

0:16:470:16:51

-Siwan's always been

-a strong character...

0:16:510:16:56

-..and has fought

-everything she's encountered.

0:16:560:16:59

-I'm so proud of her.

0:17:000:17:05

-After the hip replacements, I made

0:17:140:17:18

-..so bought myself a pair

-of Jimmy Choo shoes!

0:17:190:17:23

-I wanted to go skiing

-and have been twice...

0:17:230:17:27

-..and I've walked

-to the summit of Snowdon too.

0:17:270:17:31

-The list continues!

0:17:310:17:35

-You've been through so much but

-will cycle 100 miles for charity.

0:17:350:17:40

-Why did you choose

-to do a bike ride?

0:17:400:17:44

-I can walk today which is amazing...

0:17:440:17:47

-..but the fact I can ride a bike

-for 100 miles is a real blessing.

0:17:470:17:54

-Siwan's raising money for the

-charity, Home-Start in Denbighshire.

0:17:540:17:59

-It supports local families

-and is close to her heart...

0:17:590:18:03

-..because her mother, Meira

-has run it for many years.

0:18:030:18:09

-It's amazing what Mam has done

-for so many families.

0:18:090:18:13

-I want to show her

-what it means to me.

0:18:140:18:19

-The three girls were raised with

-their mother working for Home-Start.

0:18:190:18:25

-They have seen the problems

-faced by a number of families.

0:18:250:18:30

-Good luck to Siwan on Saturday

-as she travels around London.

0:18:300:18:36

-We can't wait to welcome her home

-on Sunday or Monday.

0:18:360:18:40

-How's your health now?

0:18:410:18:45

-My next operation is a shoulder

-replacement as it's very painful...

0:18:450:18:52

-..but I'm trying to live my life

-to the full and do all that I can.

0:18:530:19:00

-You're a real inspiration, Siwan

-and thank you for chatting with me.

0:19:000:19:05

-and we wish Siwan all the best.

-of a lot of decisions.

0:20:250:20:32

-I couldn't write at the time.

0:20:320:20:41

-You couldn't make sense

-of what was happening.

0:20:410:20:45

-There was so many things going on

-at the time.

0:20:450:20:49

-People were talking about cuts...

0:20:490:20:53

-..and the future of S4C.

0:20:530:21:02

-I wanted to think about the role

-of Wales in the future.

0:21:030:21:08

-I feel like I've met

-a lot of voices...

0:21:090:21:16

-..as the novel is about families

-in Wales in 2056.

0:21:170:21:27

-It's more about today

-than I realize.

0:21:290:21:39

-I had to consider the world too.

-Thank you, Yvonne.

0:29:040:29:07

-Enjoy the rest of the party.

0:29:070:29:13

-Next, we visit Liverpool

-to meet a Porthmadog youngster...

0:29:130:29:17

-..who's set to make his break with

-an English Premier League club...

0:29:170:29:20

-..and has won

-his first cap for Wales.

0:29:210:29:24

-I'm at the Everton Academy of Finch

-Farm in Liverpool to meet a man...

0:29:290:29:36

-..who's future on the professional

-and international stage is bright.

0:29:360:29:42

-He was born in Perth in Australia...

0:29:430:29:46

-..but Porthmadog has been the home

-of Gethin Jones from a young age.

0:29:460:29:50

-He's had an incredible journey.

0:29:500:29:53

-How did a lad from Porthmadog

-end up at Everton?

0:29:530:29:59

-Dad and my uncles all played

-football when I was young.

0:29:590:30:05

-I played football with friends

-at Ysgol Borth-y-Gest...

0:30:050:30:09

-..and started playing for Porthmadog

-when I was seven...

0:30:090:30:14

-..and have loved playing football

-ever since.

0:30:140:30:20

-I went to Bangor Academy at twelve

-and had a week's trail in Wrexham.

0:30:200:30:25

-My first trail match for Wrexham

-was against Everton.

0:30:250:30:29

-After the match, Everton

-asked to sign me there and then!

0:30:300:30:36

-I was playing in Bangor one week and

-had signed for Everton a week later.

0:30:360:30:41

-What was it like to reach Everton

-and be part of this massive club?

0:30:420:30:45

-It's amazing and you train

-with the likes of Wayne Rooney.

0:30:450:30:50

-I still have to pinch myself.

0:30:510:30:56

-It was odd to leave school early

-and travel here.

0:30:560:31:02

-Dad and Mam would bring me here

-three or four times a week.

0:31:020:31:06

-I knew that I had to do it

-if I wanted a career in football.

0:31:070:31:12

-I think I've done well and train

-with the players of the first team.

0:31:120:31:18

-That team includes the legendary,

-Wayne Rooney.

0:31:180:31:22

-What's he like?

0:31:220:31:25

-He's so experienced and

-his ball skills are unbelievable.

0:31:250:31:31

-Despite captaining

-the youth team of Wales...

0:31:310:31:35

-..he got the call from Chris Coleman

-to join the Welsh team in Serbia.

0:31:360:31:43

-It could have been quite different

-as he got a call from Australia too!

0:31:440:31:51

-They asked me to play for them

-at the start of the last season.

0:31:510:31:57

-I'm a Welshman despite being born

-there when Mam and Dad lived there.

0:31:570:32:05

-Thank heavens for that!

0:32:050:32:08

-What does the future hold

-in Everton?

0:32:080:32:11

-It has great players

-and it's a wealthy club...

0:32:110:32:15

-..so they're going for the top four

-in the Premier League.

0:32:150:32:19

-I hope the pre-season matches go

-well so that I play in the season.

0:32:190:32:25

-It was great to meet Gethin.

0:32:260:32:29

-Well done to Gethin

-and we wish him all the best.

0:32:290:32:36

-I enjoyed meeting him.

0:32:360:32:42

-He's still got his feet

-on the ground.

0:32:430:32:45

-In the final part of

-tonight's programme...

0:32:450:32:48

-..Huw Fash discovers more about

-#LoveArt at the National Library.

0:32:480:32:51

-And we've already heard

-about Gai Toms' latest album.

0:32:520:32:55

-He performs a track from the album.

0:32:550:32:58

-He sounded great in the rehearsals.

0:32:580:33:01

-Before the break,

-we've got an event to announce.

0:33:010:33:04

-Beryl Vaughan joined us on Heno

-at the Show on Tuesday evening.

0:33:040:33:07

-She chatted about her new book,

-Milgi Maldwyn.

0:33:070:33:10

-Beryl is signing copies of her book

-at Siop Cwlwm in Oswestry Market...

0:33:100:33:13

-..from midday until 2.00pm tomorrow.

0:33:140:33:17

-And here's the rest

-of our weekend Calendar.

0:33:170:33:20

0:34:280:34:30

-Welcome back.

0:34:340:34:36

-Everyone knows that Huw Fash loves

-his fashion but he also likes art.

0:34:360:34:42

-Huw was recently drawn to an art

-collection at the National Library.

0:34:420:34:47

-For anyone who loves art...

0:34:480:34:50

-..being able to rummage through

-any archive of collection of art...

0:34:510:34:57

-..is fantastic.

0:34:570:34:59

-Visiting the National Library and

-viewing their archive is an honour.

0:34:590:35:06

-Love Art is the National Library's

-campaign...

0:35:080:35:11

-..to promote

-our collection of portraits.

0:35:120:35:17

-Being part of the campaign means

-there's fashionable choices to make.

0:35:170:35:23

-The campaign started in April...

0:35:230:35:27

-..when celebrities were invited

-to choose various pieces of art.

0:35:270:35:30

-Each chooses a month's worth of art

-so that's four paintings.

0:35:300:35:35

-It's a great idea as you visit

-the library's incredible storerooms.

0:35:350:35:42

-Our first stop is quite obvious

-as we're in the Kyffin storeroom.

0:35:430:35:49

-It's incredibly valuable...

0:35:490:35:53

-..as this is the world's biggest

-collection of work by Kyffin.

0:35:530:35:57

-Yes, we own the biggest collection

-of work by Kyffin Williams.

0:35:570:36:02

-It has 200 oil paintings on canvas

-and over 1,600 pieces on paper.

0:36:020:36:10

-This is a library but we have

-an array of collections...

0:36:110:36:15

-..including over 70,000 paintings.

0:36:160:36:21

-This wide choice means you can find

-some lesser-known pieces.

0:36:220:36:28

-My first choice is of Miss Parry.

0:36:280:36:33

-She isn't as glamorous as Levi

-but I love the age of Kyffin's muse.

0:36:340:36:42

-He had seen Miss Parry in a home for

-the elderly and couldn't forget her.

0:36:420:36:51

-I've sketched fashionable images

-all my life...

0:36:530:36:57

-..so the next choice

-is a bit more obvious.

0:36:570:37:01

-This painter was

-a fashion illustrator of the period.

0:37:020:37:06

-Yes, John Cambrian Rowland

-developed his style over time.

0:37:060:37:11

-He had a head for business...

0:37:110:37:15

-..and chose to depict

-the Welsh national costume.

0:37:150:37:21

-Art is very personal

-and you know if you like something.

0:37:210:37:26

-I've chosen two photographs

-and I love them.

0:37:260:37:30

-These aren't the originals but these

-ladies are dressed very smartly.

0:37:310:37:37

-Yes, this is Cadi and Sioned

-from Llanfechell.

0:37:370:37:42

-These photographs were taken by the

-famous photographer, John Thomas.

0:37:420:37:47

-John persuaded them to model after

-offering the loan of the clothes.

0:37:470:37:54

-My choice of four had to include

-this portrait of Sian Phillips.

0:37:550:38:01

-I love the colour, technique and the

-artist has brought her eyes to life.

0:38:010:38:09

-David Griffiths is one of

-Wales' prominent portrait artists.

0:38:090:38:15

-The National Library has

-a massive collection of his work.

0:38:150:38:21

-The rich colours, textures and

-half-smile captures Sian to a tee.

0:38:210:38:27

-It brings style and fashion

-to my choices.

0:38:270:38:32

-You can see the choices

-by entering #LoveArt...

0:38:320:38:35

-..on the National Library website

-or Twitter.

0:38:350:38:38

-The art collections are on the

-Library website and Twitter page.

0:38:430:38:47

-The details are on the screen.

0:38:470:38:52

-Gai Toms and Catrin Dafydd

-have been our studio guests tonight.

0:38:520:38:55

-Gai has released

-a new album called Gwalia.

0:38:550:39:04

-You've also got other projects.

0:39:040:39:09

-I've got a few other projects.

0:39:090:39:13

-I'm working at Yr Ysgwrn.

0:39:130:39:23

-There's a show to mark the centenary

-of the death of Hedd Wyn...

0:39:230:39:31

-..and remembers the poet and all

-those who were killed in the war.

0:39:320:39:41

-There's also a music festival

-at the end of August...

0:39:410:39:46

-..that's with Galeri, Caernarfon.

0:39:460:39:51

-I'm going to be at the

-National Eisteddfod on Anglesey.

0:39:510:39:55

-I'm going to be on the Maes

-during the week...

0:39:550:40:01

-..at the Eisteddfod.

0:40:010:40:11

-This CD is also going

-to be released on vinyl.

0:40:110:40:14

-You can also download it.

0:40:140:40:24

-What are you performing

-for us tonight?

0:40:250:40:28

-Tonight's song

-is called Chwyldro Bach Dy Hun.

0:40:290:40:32

-Please take your place

-in our performance area.

0:40:320:40:38

-Catrin has published

-her latest book, Gwales.

0:40:390:40:44

-You work with Pobol y Cwm too.

0:40:440:40:48

-Yes, I form the storylines.

0:40:480:40:56

-It's great to work

-with a lot of people.

0:40:560:41:04

-We're planning for Spring 2018.

0:41:050:41:13

-You know what happens

-to the characters.

0:41:130:41:17

-I'm watching the series

-at the moment...

0:41:170:41:21

-..and I know what's going to happen.

0:41:210:41:25

-It's incredible.

0:41:250:41:35

-Does writing a novel

-differ to writing a script?

0:41:420:41:47

-Scriptwriting is very different

-to writing a novel.

0:41:470:41:52

-There's a lot of people

-involved when writing a novel.

0:41:520:41:56

-I'm very fortunate

-to have the help of an editor.

0:41:560:42:06

-The novel is released on 1 August.

0:42:060:42:11

-What Shwmae Su'mae Day?

0:42:110:42:16

-Shwmae Su'mae Day

-is on a Sunday this year.

0:42:160:42:24

-We want people

-to tell us more about it.

0:42:240:42:28

-Gruff has got more chocolates

-for you.

0:42:280:42:33

-Gai can have a box too!

0:42:330:42:35

-That's it from us

-for another busy week.

0:42:350:42:38

-Join Mari and myself on Monday.

0:42:380:42:43

-Gai Toms plays us out

-with Chwyldro Bach Dy Hun.

0:42:430:42:45

-Enjoy.
