-I've done about 54 gigs

-across Wales this year.

-How did it all start?

-I started translating songs.

-People asked me

-if I wanted to do gigs.

-The phone hasn't stopped.

-What about your look?

-I do gigs in sheds and stables.

-I had to fit with the venue.

-Children dress

-as the Welsh Whisperer.

-Adults are doing the same.

-Yes, that's right.

-I gig all over Wales.

-Every gig is different.

-I'm in sheds, tents and so on.

-The gigs in Ceredigion

-and Pembrokeshire...

-..are quite similar to those gigs

-in the agricultural area...

-..of North Wales.

-Are you surprised by your success?

-My song, Loris Mansel Davies

-is a favourite.

-My wife and son love your songs too.

-You've got a great fanbase.

-People of all ages come to my gigs.

-Tonight, we meet Olga the dog

-and Derek her owner from Caernarfon.

-I've suffered with my health

-all my life...

-..as at the age of two,

-I was struck down with tuberculosis.

-Having Olga means I can go out more

-and she helps at home and outside.

-Olga's my queen!

-I tell her to fetch her coat

-and she gets it from the garage.

-She also opens the door

-and closes it behind her.

-If I get a phone call, I ask her

-to find the phone and she gets it.

-Unfortunately, she gets confused

-with the remote for the Sky box...

-..and I can't really answer that!

-it's in her nature to help people.

-She does a lot for Dad

-and has totally changed his life.

-She sleeps next to him

-and wakes him in the morning.

-She'll bark at him to make sure

-he gets out of bed!

-The biggest change is that Dad

-now has the confidence to go out.

-It's great to see him chatting

-as he did 20 years ago.

-She not only gets me out but does

-things normal dogs wouldn't do...

-..but she isn't a normal dog.

-It's taken a good 18 months

-to train her...

-..and another four months

-to train her to suit my needs.

-That's the real difference for me.

-Since having Olga,

-I've had my father back...

-..and my children

-have their grandfather back.

-Everyone knows about Gelert

-being a heroic dog in Wales...

-..but for me in Caernarfon,

-Olga's a true hero!

-That was a lovely story.

-We meet another Gelert contender

-on tomorrow night's programme.

-Yes, I love dogs.

-His name is Tecwyn.

-He's a jacapoo.

-I've named him after Tecwyn Ifan.

-We also have Joey.

-Christmas is coming and our towns

-are adorned with lights and trees.

-Caerphilly has welcomed

-a special tree...

-..dressed in daffodils in aid of

-the Marie Curie cancer charity.

-The charity was started in 1948

-about the same time as the NHS.

-It started to care for women

-who have cancer.

-There are nine hospices across

-Britain including one in Penarth.

-I see the support it offers to the

-terminally ill and their families.

-They have incredible support in the

-hospice and all over the area.

-Marie Curie is wonderful

-and changes people's lives.

-We've launched a Christmas tree

-that has 2,000 of our daffodils.

-It looks wonderful

-and it helps people in the area.

-They come here and enjoy the cafe.

-It raises awareness

-and money for those in the area.

-Our fund-raising box will be

-at the centre over Christmas...

-..and we hope to raise

-a lot of money in this area.

-At this time of year...

-..it's important people know they

-can get the support of Marie Curie.

-Two years ago, Rhodri Gomer

-met a young rower from Cardiff...

-..who uprooted to Reading

-to train there permanently.

-Cardiff's talented Zak Lee-Green

-has captured the eyes of the world.

-Rhodri joined him for a catch-up.

-A month ago, Zak Lee-Green travelled

-with the British team...

-..to the World Rowing Championship

-in Florida...

-..to compete

-with the lightweight quad.

-Winning the semi-final meant

-the gold was a realistic goal...

-..but that meant beating the

-favourites of France in the final.

-We knew they were great as we'd

-raced them in the last two years.

-They were really strong

-and had won medals...

-..but we knew we had to make changes

-after the second round to progress.

-The second round went well

-and did all we set out to achieve.

-The planning for the final

-was perfect.

-At the halfway mark,

-we were where we wanted to be.

-We worked so hard and hoped that

-the finish line would come quickly.

-With only 50m to go,

-the French team overtook them.

-Despite Zak and the team's

-best efforts...

-..the French took the gold

-by only half a metre.

-I questioned myself

-the second that I finished.

-Everyone wanted us to do so well but

-we kept thinking, "what if?!"

-I've never had a race where

-I was almost a champion but failed.

-Everything about the boat

-felt perfect.

-The only thing missing was

-a bit of power towards the end.

-It was an amazing competition.

-You had a very worthy holiday

-after the competition.

-My girlfriend came to watch the

-final and we did some travelling.

-It gave me time to relax, to put

-rowing to the back of my mind...

-..and enjoy a normal life

-and eat a McDonald's too!

-Sacrifice is an inherent part of

-a professional athlete's life...

-..with healthy food, early mornings

-and torturing training sessions.

-I get up at 6.45am

-and drive to Caversham or Evesham...

-..and either do some weights or go

-on the water depending on the plan.

-We finish at 2.00pm or 4.00pm,

-depending on each of our sessions.

-After that, I do three or four hours

-of dentistry at Maidenhead...

-..before going home to sleep!

-What's next for Zak

-after such a successful 2017?

-Everyone is aiming for the Olympic

-Games in two and a half years.

-Next year, our boats need to win the

-qualifying spots for the Games.

-It's at the front of our minds.

-We're focused on our weights, rowing

-machine and work on the water.

-How do you feel about the premiere?

-We're excited about it.

-Shannon is from Porthmadog.

-performing arts at Coleg Menai.

-That's how I got the film.

-Kelly is from Llanberis.

-Yes, I'm from Llanberis.

-I was on the same course as Shannon.

-You were chosen out

-of many applicants.

-Yes, a lot of people auditioned.

-We were lucky enough

-to get the parts.

-What was it like to take part

-in the film?

-You've never performed on screen.

-It was very different.

-We didn't expect it.

-We did the musical, Fame.

-It was great to see how the film

-work differed from the stage.

-Who was the director?

-The film was directed

-by Rhys ap Trefor.

-Tell us more about the story.

-Siwan and Gwawr are sisters.

-They have lost their father.

-Gwawr is a goth.

-My character is more prim

-and proper.

-That was incredible.

-This week marks the contribution of

-Welsh book shops in our communities.

-There's been a Welsh shop

-in Merthyr's town centre for years.

-But a few months ago,

-it shut up shop for good.

-There was a glimmer of hope

-when it re-opened recently.

-Alun Williams was given a very

-special task on the opening day.

-I can't believe

-that it's been almost a year...

-..since I visited the Welsh shop,

-Llyfrau'r Enfys in Caerphilly...

-..owned by Vikki Alexander.

-She's opened another shop

-but it's in Merthyr Tydfil.

-Oh, and she's asked me to

-officially open the shop - yes, me!

-The shop is part of Canolfan Soar

-in Merthyr Tydfil.

-The building had laid dormant

-for a few months...

-..but everyone is delighted to see

-its doors opening once again.

-The Welsh centre of Canolfan Soar...

-..was established after the 1987

-Merthyr Tydfil National Eisteddfod.

-The shop enabled

-the Canolfan Soar to develop.

-Without the shop, the town wouldn't

-have a theatre or Welsh centre...

-..so it's important to have a shop

-at the heart of the site.

-Most complain about having

-too much work, Vikki...

-..but you've created more work for

-yourself by opening another shop!

-Yes, I'm bonkers and I know it

-but it was needed.

-The shop had closed

-and left a gap in Merthyr Tydfil.

-We've been open for a few weeks

-and one woman came in and cried.

-She was so delighted and very

-emotional to see the site reopening.

-It's brilliant to have this shop.

-People don't realize that parents

-raise their children speaking Welsh.

-A lot of children

-are fluent Welsh speakers.

-It's important to have a place

-outside of our capital city...

-..outside of Pontypridd

-and away from the Eisteddfod Maes.

-I wasn't the only one

-with an important job.

-The busy singer, Carys Lloyd

-was also entertaining the visitors.

-I've had six gigs in the last week

-so it's a bit bonkers.

-Mam says I've been singing since I

-was in the cot but I don't think so!

-The big moment finally arrived.
