-have you work at Ysgol Y Gorlan?

-I will mark 45 years on 12 April.

-Many happy returns to Anti Meirwen!

-The biggest challenge was to keep

-the surprise a secret...

-..from Anti Meirwen and the

-children until this morning.

-We were afraid that

-someone would slip up.

-A group of us have been busy

-decorating the hall all morning.

-We had to make sure that

-Anti Meirwen didn't have a clue.

-I started school here

-at the tender age of five.

-I was also fortunate

-to get a job here...

-..and Anti Meirwen has looked after

-and fed me for a total of ten years.

-What can I say about Meirwen

-that hasn't been said already?

-I've worked with Meirwen

-for 27 years.

-There hasn't been

-a bad word between us.

-She's reliable at school

-and outside school.

-She's a very loyal friend.

-Anti Meirwen has worked

-for six head teachers...

-..and fed generations of children

-who are extremely grateful to her.

-and he's turning 50 now.

-Anti Meirwen has worked at

-Ysgol Y Gorlan for 45 years.

-She's very kind

-and never says a bad word.

-The food she serves is delicious.

-and never raises her voice at us.

-If there's any food left over,

-she lets us have it.

-She never says no

-and is always generous.

-that I've lived with for 17 years!

-of nowhere to suit any occasion.

-and has been all his life.

-It's like travelling

-has been written by Stifyn Parri!

-The Welsh tend to be very private.

-My mouth is always open.

-I remember making that film.

-It's difficult to be followed

-Why did you decide to do it now?

-Some people think I'm having

-a mid-life crisis.

-That's not the case.

-I was invited to write

-an autobiography.

-I didn't like that idea.

-I preferred telling my story

-It probably would have been easier

-..but it wouldn't have been

-Taste Wales held a two-day event

-at the Celtic Manor in Newport...

-..for many Welsh companies

-to expand their client base.

-Rhodri was there on our behalf.

-Let me start by giving you

-a few facts that might surprise you.

-Some 250,000 people work in the

-food and drinks industry in Wales.

-It's worth 1.7 billion in terms

-of annual profit to the economy.

-Our exports have doubled

-in the last decade.

-The aim of this Taste Wales event

-is to ensure those figures grow.

-The aim is to celebrate Welsh

-produce and unite the industry.

-We've organized over 1,000 meetings

-for today.

-There's 100 producers and an

-exhibition of over 300 delicacies.

-It's wonderful to see.

-I'm Rhian from Plas Farm

-on Anglesey.

-We make frozen yoghurt, ice cream,

-coleslaw and potato salad.

-We've come to the Taste Wales event

-to promote our frozen yoghurt...

-..to people in the UK

-and further afield.

-I'm from Devil's Bridge

-near Aberystwyth.

-The shop is in the village

-opposite the train station...

-..so it's a great site for tourists.

-We make an array of chocolates with

-fillings or bars with toppings...

-..as well as some fudge.

-We're based in Llanrwst.

-The company produces traditional

-cakes, desserts and quiches.

-It's an anxious

-and uncertain time...

-..but this gives people

-the opportunity to be pioneering.

-Does this give us good reason

-to feel confident?

-It's important to be positive as

-negative thoughts are restricting.

-You need to look to the future.

-We can't do anything

-but work hard...

-..to make sure that Brexit

-doesn't affect us too much.

-The National Assembly supports

-Welsh businesses including myself.

-I hope people from foreign climbs

-Taste Awards for the chocolate.

-She was born in Wittenburg.

-Her mother was taken

-to Ravensbruck...

-..where she was killed.

-Other members

-of the family died too.

-My aunt killed herself

-to try and save her family.

-It's taken 70 years...

-to acknowledge what had happened...

-..to my family.

-The town has renamed a street

-after my family.

-The local hospital

-has asked a historian...

-..to learn about the story

-of my grandfather.

-He worked in the hospital.

-The town's mayor

-also ran the hospital.

-He was a Nazi.

-It's thought

-that he was responsible...

-..for my grandfather losing his job.

-It took 70 years to come to light.

-A month ago, there was an article

-in a German newspaper...

-..claiming that the hospital

-was guilty...

-..of persecuting my grandfather.

-You want the hospital

-to realize what they did.

-The family has run a campaign...

-..to keep the family's name alive.

-On Sunday,

-there's a special service.

-It will see the unveiling

-of a plaque...

-..in memory of my grandfather

-at the hospital.

-It's never easy to go back

-to the country.

-We have to think of the people

-in Syria today.

-They are suffering

-in a similar way...

-..to those people

-of the World Wars.

-It's 70 years since Wyn Jones

-was born at Ty'n y Braich...

-..a farm at the foot of Maesglase

-in Dinas Mawddwy.

-The family continue to remember

-that exceptional winter.

-Where did the snow reach

-on the house at Ty'n y Braich?

-My memories are those of a child,

-but it was this high at the front.

-I recall attempting to go to the

-cowshed, which was below the house.

-I had to break through

-and it was like a tunnel.

-The year prior was also a bad year.

-The year prior was also a bad year.

-Yes, that was the problem.

-We had a very wet summer in 1946

-and nobody had any hay.

-There was no hay for the sheep

-in the winter.

-Dad would go out to cut branches

-for the sheep to peel as food.

-We lost a lot of sheep,

-like many others.

-One good thing came in 1947

-and that was a baby.

-Yes, it was me and I caused

-a lot of problems for everyone.

-The doctor and the nurse

-had to come up to help.

-Some would say I've caused

-problems ever since!

-It's interesting that the stories

-continue to create an interest.

-As a family,

-they've retold the stories.

-I hope our grandchildren will

-remember some of them.

-We don't realize how closed off

-we are in remote rural areas...

-..when it comes to the birth

-of a baby.

-I'm delighted that the stories

-continue to be told.

-who recalls the difficult winter.

-I was working on the Cilblaidd farm

-between Llanybydder and Lampeter.

-An Englishman called Dick

-worked at the farm.

-He told us to get the fodder in

-as we expected to have snow.

-Farm buildings were covered in snow

-so he couldn't get to the cowshed.

-We couldn't find the wheelbarrow

-or open any of the doors.

-We couldn't muck out the cowshed

-and we needed to milk.

-Manure was everywhere

-in the cowshed.

-There were snowdrifts and I've

-never witnessed anything like it.
