-the shortlist of the best in the UK.

-there's a new quid on the block!

-We bid farewell to

-the round-shaped 1 coin...

-..and welcome this 12-sided coin,

-designed by teenager, David Pearce.

-We hit the streets of Carmarthen to

-hear your views of the new 1 coin.

-This new 1 looks fake.

-The daffodil that represents Wales

-resembles a pineapple!

-It reminds me of a threepenny piece

-from my childhood.

-I don't care too much for it.

-It's something new

-and there's a demand for it.

-I'm not bothered either way.

-Why do we need to change it?

-It's cost us 300 million.

-I think it looks pretty and shiny.

-It's similar to the 2 coin

-in terms of its colour.

-A 1 coin is a 1 coin

-and its shape shouldn't matter.

-When you move it, there's a

-hologram to show you it's 1.

-In terms of its shape, it'll confuse

-my brother-in-law, who is blind.

-It's a good idea if it stops

-people from breaking the law.

-I foresee problems with trollies

-and a lot of added expense.

-A pound is a pound

-and it's spent in seconds.

-It's only money.

-With stem subjects such as science,

-technology and engineering...

-children lose interest

-when they reach secondary school.

-It's important that we inspire them

-from an early age.

-Companies like Google will employ

-these children in the future.

-They are the scientists

-and mathematicians of the future.

-You look through it

-and you can see something.

-I've seen a dolphin.

-We've seen a shark.

-The technology is amazing.

-We slip the spectacles on and it

-takes you to a different world.

-This morning I was in Rio

-and around the universe.

-It's great for the pupils

-to learn something different.

-I've seen space,

-rivers and other things.

-It's really cool and I like it

-because it goes to different places.

-Where have you been today, Corey?

-I've stepped into a volcano,

-space and rockets.

-You can hear

-the enthusiasm of the children.

-Many have expected to see

-a bird behind them...

-..but then realize that they're

-inside the hall of the school.

-I've been under the sea

-and inside a volcano.

-I was a scared under the water

-as there were different things.

-I've seen planets.

-It will help with literacy

-and language skills.

-They experience something new

-without leaving the building.

-I hope it will inspire them

-to write about these experiences.

-The children enjoyed themselves.

-Dylan Garner has travelled

-quite a lot as a model.

-He's also presenting the new series,

-Ffasiwn Mecanic.

-It airs this Friday on S4C.

-We've also got two mechanics

-up there it's a lonely place.

-We can't wait.

-We've had two previous series.

-What can we expect?

-The tasks are bigger.

-The fashion targets are also bigger.

-We also go on a trip to London

-and meet Nicky Clarke.

-Annie is the only girl

-in the series.

-How was it for you to be

-among all the men?

-They made me feel at home.

-They helped me a lot.

-I worked in JP Motors in Penygroes.

-I went to the army

-and wanted to be a mechanic.

-I've always enjoyed working

-with cars.

-Tell us about yourself, Dan.

-I work for Midway Motors.

-I've been there for three years.

-I enjoy working there.

-It was one of the best periods

-of my life.

-I thought my friends were joking

-when they sent me the adverts.

-I was lucky enough to be chosen.

-What is the prize?

-The prize is incredible.

-They get 3,000.

-They will also appear on a magazine

-cover.

-You travel a lot

-and continue to model.

-Yes, I work in London and Germany.

-I came back for Mother's Day.

-I also help Dad.

-There are countless fitness

-challenges across the country.

-But last Sunday, there was a very

-unique challenge held in Pembrey.

-Rhodri Gomer donned his lycra for a

-cycling race along Cefn Sidan beach.

-A Cycling is run by former mountain

-bike rider, Matt Page of Llangadog.

-The company arrange numerous

-cycling and running events...

-..across South Wales.

-After filming many of the events,

-I accepted the challenge...

-..to take part in the largest,

-Battle on the Beach.

-There's no turning back now, I've

-registered, picked up my number...

-..but I have to admit

-that I'm feeling nervous.

-Today, I'm going to be cycling along

-6 kilometres of beach...

-..before entering the forest and

-doing two lamps of the country park.

-This is going to be difficult.

-The tyres of my road bike wouldn't

-be suitable for the sand...

-..and so I was given the chance

-to borrow a popular bike.

-I would ride on the thick tyres

-of the Surly Fat Bike.

-We're two minutes away

-from starting the race.

-I'm one of 800 competitors.

-This is the largest off-road race in

-the UK and I'm a part of it.

-From above, the beginning of the

-race on Cefn Sidan beach...

-..was an unforgettable sight.

-It's great and the organizer, Matt

-has arranged a few events like this.

-This is the only race

-that uses a beach.

-There are other races held here

-including Cyclo-Cross.

-The other races

-don't use the entire beach.

-It's great and we're lucky not to be

-cycling against the wind today.

-Things are not going well,

-I've had a puncture...

-..had to change tyre and bike,

-but I'm ready to continue.

-This is very hard.

-A shell was the cause

-of my misfortune.

-The best competitors who had

-travelled from afar away lands...

-..had no problems.

-Bram Imming won the Open title and

-is the 4th time a Dutchman has won.

-England Women's Rugby World Cup 2014

-winner, Sophie Halhead...

-..won the women's race.

-Iwan Evans of Builth Wells was the

-winner of the Fun Male 14+ race.

-It was very good and I came first

-in one hour and five minutes.

-I really enjoyed it.

-I enjoyed it, but went slightly

-too fast on the first lap.

-Once I found my pace, I was fine.

-It was incredible

-and the weather was great.

-I'm tired, but this was my first

-and last Battle on the Beach.

-What did you think of

-that beach stretch?

-It was fine within a group, but on

-your own, it would have been hard.

-That must have been my problem!

-This is the third year I've done

-this and the weather has been great.

-It's brilliant.

-After 20 miles and two bikes,

-I've crossed the finish line...

-..and I have the evidence

-to prove it.

-Last week, a big competition

-was held in Cardigan...

-..for further education colleges

-around South Wales to take part.

-It was an opportunity for students

-to showcase their vocational skills.

-Daf Wyn has the story.

-I think it'll be a while

-before I build an entire wall.

-But for those around me,

-they've only got six hours.

-They're all competing in the Welsh

-Regional World Skills Competition.

-Those following vocational courses

-such as building...

-..plumbing and electrics,

-are showcasing their talents...

-..in this annual competition.

-Coleg Ceredigion's Cardigan Campus

-hosts the event for a second time.

-The purpose is to make it to

-the final in the north in June.

-From here, they can progress

-to the World Skills Competition.

-It's basically the Olympics

-of the Construction World.

-Over 100 students partake

-in competitions...

-..stemming from painting to

-carpentry, welding and bricklaying.

-What are you looking for?

-I'm looking to see

-if the measurements are correct.

-The work must be neat, corners have

-to be perfect and everything's safe.

-How's it going?

-It's quite tough.

-It's tricky.

-What have you got to do?

-I've got to construct an arch

-and build the corners around it.

-I have to wire up lights

-and install a socket at the bottom.

-I'll feed the cables through

-a conduit to make it look neat.

-I'm making a sash of a window that

-forms the frame to hold the panes.

-Our main is the measurements

-and their preciseness.

-We examine the craftsmanship

-and tightness of the joints.

-If the measurement

-is 400 millimetres...

-..and they measure 380 millimetres,

-then no marks are awarded.

-Only the best pieces of work are

-represented at the finals in June.

-At the college's Welsh centre,

-Y Man A'r Lle...

-..prospective students enjoy

-a lesson in these vocations...

-..and have fun in the process.

-I've been driving the car

-and I wasn't very good at it!

-I tried to beat my friends,

-but I think I lost.

-We visited the college to watch them

-cementing and bricklaying.

-It's a chance for us to showcase

-our facilities to local people...

-..local employers

-and colleges in the region.

-It's great to welcome

-these colleges to Cardigan...

-..and a chance for students

-to meet and learn from others.

-It's a way for us to share ideas

-and come together.

-Why did you want to compete?

-I want to push myself to be better

-and improve my CV.

-The standard varies across Wales,

-but today it's outstanding.

-They get a lot out of it

-and it pushes them to strive.

-A lot of the lads

-run their own businesses now.

-Congratulations to the winners.

-They'll represent South Wales in the

-Welsh final in Llandudno this June.

-Here's a question for you.

-How many of you have swapped

-a cup of tea for a coffee?

-It's believed 70,000 coffees

-are consumed everyday in the UK.

-Llinos has been to visit

-some independent cafes in Cardiff...

-..who have recently

-received some exciting news.

-There are plenty of places to enjoy

-a cup of tea in the Welsh capital.

-Two of Cardiff's cafes appear

-on the Top UK Coffee Shops list...

-..but you won't find them

-on the high street...

-..as both are situated in

-a hidden arcade in the city centre.

-My first visit was to The Plan

-in the Morgan Quarter.

-The Plan was established

-ten years ago.

-It's a small coffee shop,

-but is spread across three floors.

-People from around the world come

-here for our speciality coffees.

-We were delighted to be on the list.

-It's great to chat to customers and

-answer their coffee questions.

-The coffee blend that we currently

-have contains three theorems...

-..from Guatemala, Brazil

-and Ethiopia.

-The three blends in this one light

-roast coffee is amazing.

-Everyone loves coming here to drink

-the coffee that we serve.

-It's nice to have the community come

-together and to sell them the best.

-Also on the list of the Top UK

-Coffee Shops is Waterloo Tea.

-Similar to The Plan,

-it's hidden in the Wyndham Arcade.

-Waterloo Tea was founded at

-Waterloo Gardens in Penylan.

-Waterloo Gardens was doing well

-and they moved on to Penarth...

-..before moving into the city.

-It started as a small shop with

-different teas and developed.

-I believe that Waterloo brought

-coffee to Cardiff.

-We currently serve Yallah

-as our house coffee.

-We've also use La Cabra, Java

-and Clifton Roasters coffees.

-We're delighted to make it

-on to the list.

-Cardiff is constantly developing and

-we've brought the Brewers Cup...

-..the competition to make the best

-coffee to Waterloo Tea.

-Many other places have started

-to make good coffee...

-..and I believe that

-we're at the forefront.

-We make great tasting coffee and it

-takes effort to make a great cup.

-The Plan and Waterloo have certainly

-put Cardiff on the map...

-..as a city that sells good coffee.

-I've been surprised to see how much

-effort goes in to one cup of coffee.

-Next time you visit the capital,

-remember the independent cafes.
