I promised I wasn't going to do this over a bloody dress.

Laid-back Luke met animal-loving Jess on a night out in Derby

-eight years ago.

-We actually met on a corner of the street.

She caught my eye. That short little skirt.

I said, I know who you are. You're Paul Tomlinson's son, aren't you?

And he kind of a little bit panic stricken,

"How do you know that?"

We actually met each other when we were just minutes old,

due to the fact that our parents know each other, were good friends

together, and I guess you could say

our first actual meeting place was on the maternity ward.

But there were something else that united these two families.

Jess's mum and dad have got a motorbike. My dad has got two bikes.

They are all Harley-Davidsons. That is the big...

the big link, if you like.

And like father, like son.

Luke is never happier than when he's on his racing bike.

I suppose you could say that

I will ever ride my bike as much as I want.

That'll probably be every day.

But while her parents, future in-laws

and fiance are all motorbike-mad, Jess, well, Jess isn't.

I'm not really that interested in motorbike racing.

It's just sounds like noise.

They do share one big passion, though. Their home.

And two years ago, they ploughed all of their money

into buying their first place together.

We bought a house which was virtually derelict and since then,

any spare money has just gone straight into this place.

Money is not always spare, is it?

-It's either begged, borrowed or stolen.

-No.

Yes, my now have to work evenings

and weekends just to get an extra income every month to keep

the house moving on, otherwise it would never end.

And this hard-working duo aren't scared of hard graft,

with Luke putting in long hours as a cable jointer

and Jess working long shifts as a veterinary surgeon.

-You won't feel a thing.

-She is ever so good.

-Oh, there we go.

But Jess's dream of becoming a vet

took its toll on their relationship.

While she was studying in London, Luke stayed in Derby.

It was a long-distance relationship.

It started to get really tough after a couple of years.

And I think at that point, when you been together three years,

I think he needed to see a little bit more from me.

I was, sort of, always nipping to London and back,

and she was so focused on what she was doing then, you know,

it just sort of boiled over a little bit

and I was like, "You know what?

"I want to finish this."

When we separated, I felt like I had lost part of myself.

It was really, really tough. Really tough.

I couldn't think about him

being with anybody else or being a bit of a lad.

Met another couple of girls, which didn't really work out, to be fair.

I never really just had that bond with them,

never had that quite same connection.

And I realised that actually, I needed to get through my degree,

but then Luke was that other part that I wanted.

So as soon as she called me up, five or six months later,

it was just there straight away.

The couple are back together,

but it's not been an easy ride for Luke.

Obviously, people are concerned from her side, that I leave her,

sort of, really upset again.

So it took a lot of convincing a lot of people, certainly her dad.

I said to him, it's going to take a long time.

Fingers crossed, things can get back to

how they were, but you've got some

proving to do, some trust to gain back and definitely some respect.

Now, with the wedding day solely in Luke's hands,

it's his chance to finally redeem himself.

So if the wedding day is a success, if you like,

her dad is going to see that as a good thing from my point of view.

So long as Dad can see that he has taken it seriously and he's

done the best that he can do, I think he will have his respect.

But for this bride and her protective biker dad,

only one type of wedding will do.

Getting married in a church is really, really quite important.

Not just to me, but to my family as well.

It's going to be important to my dad that there is a traditional

aspect, that it is a serious thing that you're doing.

And luckily, bike fanatic Luke

is taking his wedding plans very seriously.

I want this to be a day to remember by incorporating the whole

motorbike thing into it.

I always talk about how passionate I am about the bikes and how really,

if it wasn't for motorbikes,

all them years ago, we wouldn't be together.

For that reason, I want that to be the main focus.

So this groom knows what he wants,

but he also knows that there's a lot at stake.

Yes, you have seen her dad.

You will know that he's quite a scary guy

so you don't want to upset him.

If I was Luke, I'd be doing my homework

and making sure that he not only makes a good day for Jess,

but keeps Jessica's dad and mum - us - happy.

It's almost time for the couple to say goodbye.

And for an anxious Jess, it's a

final chance for her to give Luke some gentle words of advice.

-You'll know about it if you get it wrong.

I'm glad you've got confidence.

Maybe for the first few months of marriage,

it might not be wedded less.

It might be more like, you know, that you have messed up.

Jess will spend the next three weeks down the road

at her parents' house

in the Derbyshire village where she grew up.

There to welcome her home are mom Denise and adoring dad Rob.

But it's not long before talk turns to the wedding

and their concerns for their only daughter's big day.

What worries me about Luke is I know how laid-back he is.

Normally we'd be having a lot more input.

Because of the situation now, it goes on to Luke.

It gives us some concerns, obviously.

I think he's really desperate to prove something to you.

Obviously with a time limit, and a budget, there's only

so much he's going to be able to do.

What about his best men -

Just depends how much they know about weddings.

Neither of them are married.

I don't think they've been to a lot of weddings.

Fingers crossed things will come together over three weeks.

But Jess's dad needn't worry. Luke is already on the case.

It's day one of wedding planning

and with his heart set on a biker wedding, Luke has

brought Ben to the home of British motorcycle racing, Donington Park.

It's got everything a bride would want - tarmac, noise, petrol fumes

and a close proximity to the East Midlands Airport flight path.

importantly for Jess and her dad, it features a 19th-century church.

Today, I just got that buzz of being at Donington.

It's just somewhere that every time I come here, you know,

whether it be for track day or whether it be to watch the racing,

I just get that instant buzz from being here.

and a spot on the track for four grand - a third of his budget.

So, having committed to the racetrack,

Luke's decided that now might be a good time to actually plan

the wedding, all over Jess's wall.

and they'll have to foot the rest.

I'm nervous about my dress, my dress is tomorrow.

I just want the dress to be everything that Jessica hopes

it will be.

But with Luke prioritising princess over period detailing,

things aren't looking too promising.

that ticks none of Jess's boxes but is still somehow perfect.

He's gone very traditional with the dress and, actually,

what is going to look fabulous

on the one day that you wear a wedding dress,

is something that is traditional.

Luke's vision of a perfect wedding involves bikes,

a racetrack and more bikes.

But knowing how much Jess loves animals,

he's keen to keep the claws at bay with something she'll like.

And he has the ideal plan -

picking up where he left off with the zoo trip

and taking his marquee to the wild side.

We'll put some animal props in and some big trees and stuff,

and just make it kind of that more wild sort of natural feel to it.

With less than 24 hours until her big day,

Jess is taking time to reminisce with her parents

about their wedding more than 30 years ago.
