1:09:491:09:50

CHEERING

1:11:111:11:13

Right, ladies and gentlemen, our next artist is simply

1:13:201:13:22

one of the most exciting in the classical music arena.

1:13:221:13:25

He's an award-winning clarinettist from Sweden,

1:13:251:13:28

but he's won an international reputation for dynamic

1:13:281:13:30

collaborations with orchestras right around the world,

1:13:301:13:33

from Stockholm to Sydney.

1:13:331:13:35

This year, he released his latest album, called Roots,

1:13:351:13:38

in which he explores the origins of classical

1:13:381:13:40

in religious and folk music.

1:13:401:13:42

We are delighted he is here to perform some of it

1:13:421:13:44

for us this evening.

1:13:441:13:45

Would you please give a very warm welcome, all the way from Sweden,

1:13:451:13:48

it's Martin Frost.

1:13:481:13:50

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

1:13:501:13:52

APPLAUSE

1:18:071:18:09

He's a bit of a showman, isn't he?

1:18:211:18:23

Now then, ladies and gentlemen, we are delighted our next artist

1:18:231:18:27

is with us this evening.

1:18:271:18:28

He's an award-winning actor and singer.

1:18:281:18:31

Originally from Wales, he's a true veteran

1:18:311:18:33

of the musical theatre in the UK and, of course, on Broadway.

1:18:331:18:37

He has just completed a lengthy run on Broadway

1:18:371:18:40

as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.

1:18:401:18:43

This is a role he really has made his own.

1:18:431:18:44

He played it for the first time when he was just 26 -

1:18:441:18:47

he was the youngest ever to take the role in the West End.

1:18:471:18:50

Here to perform for you this evening, direct from Broadway,

1:18:501:18:54

please give the warmest welcome ever to the wonderful

1:18:541:18:57

John Owen-Jones.

APPLAUSE

1:23:001:23:02

Thanks.

1:23:091:23:10

Thank you very much.

1:23:141:23:15

I'll see you again later, thanks.

1:23:151:23:17

Our next act most definitely qualifies for that rare accolade

1:23:221:23:27

of "national treasure".

1:23:271:23:29

She's had a long and hugely successful career in opera

1:23:291:23:32

and musical theatre, a career which brought her,

1:23:321:23:35

probably not before time, the CBE for services to music.

1:23:351:23:39

She's released 14 albums, she's hosted her own TV series,

1:23:391:23:43

she's appeared on everything from Loose Women

1:23:431:23:46

to Strictly Come Dancing.

1:23:461:23:48

And we are thrilled she is with us tonight on the Titanic slipways.

1:23:481:23:51

Please give a titanic welcome to the one and only Lesley Garrett.

1:23:511:23:56

# Bed, bed, I couldn't go to bed

1:24:231:24:27

# My head's too light to try to set it down

1:24:271:24:31

# Sleep, sleep, I couldn't sleep tonight

1:24:331:24:37

# Not for all the jewels in the crown

1:24:371:24:43

# I could have danced all night

1:24:431:24:46

# I could have danced all night

1:24:461:24:50

# And still have begged for more

1:24:501:24:57

# I could have spread my wings

1:24:571:25:00

# And done a thousand things

1:25:001:25:04

# I've never done before

1:25:041:25:10

# I'll never know what made it so exciting

1:25:101:25:17

# Why all at once my heart took flight

1:25:171:25:24

# I only know when he began to dance with me

1:25:241:25:33

# I could have danced, danced, danced all night

1:25:331:25:41

# I could have danced all night

1:25:471:25:51

# I could have danced all night

1:25:511:25:53

# And still have begged for more

1:25:561:25:59

# I could have spread my wings

1:26:011:26:04

# And done a thousand things, I've never done before

1:26:041:26:12

# I'll never know what made it so exciting

1:26:131:26:20

# Why all at once my heart took flight

1:26:201:26:27

# I only know when he began to dance with me

1:26:271:26:37

# I could have danced, danced, danced all night. #

1:26:371:26:52

Our next guest stared playing the piano at the age of five

1:27:131:27:16

and by the age of 16 was a winner of the BBC's Young Musician Of The Year award.

1:27:161:27:21

But after that whirlwind start to her career she ended up

1:27:211:27:24

taking quite a long break from public performance.

1:27:241:27:26

But we are delighted that 2016 sees the return to the

1:27:261:27:29

stage for our next performer.

1:27:291:27:31

She is absolutely fabulous, Derry's finest.

1:27:311:27:34

Please would you put your hands together for Ruth McGinley.

1:27:341:27:38

APPLAUSE

1:33:171:33:20

Right, ladies and gentlemen, time to welcome back two of the artists

1:33:361:33:39

we've already heard this evening.

1:33:391:33:40

Yes, they gave us some real classical fireworks earlier on

1:33:401:33:43

and they're about to do the very same again.

1:33:431:33:46

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back Vladimir and...

1:33:461:33:49

Anton.

1:33:491:33:50

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

1:36:011:36:03

This has been a year of significant commemorations,

1:36:181:36:21

not least the anniversary of the Great War Battle of the Somme.

1:36:211:36:25

Yes, on 1 July 1916, almost 20,000 men died in possibly

1:36:251:36:31

the worst day in British military history.

1:36:311:36:34

The battle would eventually go on to claim 1.5 million lives.

1:36:341:36:38

The 36th Ulster Division was one of the first over the top on that

1:36:381:36:41

July day and at the end of that first day,

1:36:411:36:44

more than 5,000 men were dead, missing or wounded.

1:36:441:36:48

Communities right across the island were plunged into mourning.

1:36:481:36:51

Tonight, we pay tribute to the fallen, some just mere boys,

1:36:511:36:55

who still lie in those fields in northern France.

1:36:551:36:58

This is Codetta with Eric Whitacre's

1:36:581:37:01

hauntingly beautiful Sleep.

1:37:011:37:03

# The evening hangs beneath the moon

1:37:091:37:20

# A silver thread on darkened dune

1:37:241:37:38

# With closing eyes and resting head

1:37:401:37:53

# I know that sleep is coming soon

1:37:531:38:08

# Upon my pillow, safe in bed

1:38:101:38:23

# A thousand pictures fill my head

1:38:251:38:33

# I cannot sleep, my mind's a flight

1:38:381:38:48

# And yet my limbs seem made of lead

1:38:481:39:04

# If there are noises in the night

1:39:061:39:22

# A frighting shadow, flickering light

1:39:241:39:37

# Then I surrender unto sleep

1:39:401:39:53

# Where clouds of dreams give second sight

1:39:541:40:13

# What dreams may come, both dark and deep

1:40:151:40:27

# Of flying wings and soaring leap

1:40:291:40:40

# As I surrender unto sleep

1:40:421:40:52

# As I surrender unto sleep

1:40:541:41:02

# As I surrender unto sleep

1:41:041:41:12

# Sleep

1:41:201:41:28

# Sleep

1:41:351:41:40

# Sleep

1:41:411:41:45

# Sleep

1:41:461:41:50

# Sleep

1:41:501:41:55

# Sleep

1:41:551:41:59

# Sleep

1:42:011:42:07

# Sleep

1:42:081:42:13

# Sleep

1:42:151:42:19

# Sleep

1:42:211:42:24

# Sleep

1:42:261:42:30

# Sleep

1:42:331:42:38

# Sleep

1:42:391:42:43

# Sleep

1:42:451:42:49

# Sleep

1:42:511:42:55

# Sleep. #

1:42:571:43:10

APPLAUSE

1:43:101:43:12

APPLAUSE

1:47:241:47:26

OK. Our next artist holds the record playing the lead

1:47:371:47:42

in Andrew Lloyd Webber's the Phantom of the Opera in the West End.

1:47:421:47:45

He has played the Phantom something like 2,000 times

1:47:451:47:49

and he's here to sing some of that great music for us tonight.

1:47:491:47:52

Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for John Owen-Jones.

1:47:521:47:56

Having a good time?

1:48:031:48:04

That's great, cos there's another 11 hours left.

1:48:061:48:09

Are you ready to dance?

1:48:101:48:12

Unfortunately, this song, you can't dance to.

1:48:141:48:17

This is Music Of The Night.

1:48:171:48:19

# Night-time sharpens, heightens each sensation

1:48:311:48:40

# Darkness stirs and wakes imagination

1:48:411:48:50

# Silently, the senses abandon their defences

1:48:501:49:02

# Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour

1:49:161:49:25

# Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender

1:49:271:49:35

# Turn your face away from the garish light of day

1:49:361:49:44

# Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light

1:49:441:49:53

# And listen to the music of the night

1:49:531:50:00

# Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams

1:50:011:50:09

# Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before

1:50:091:50:18

# Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar

1:50:181:50:34

# And you'll live as you've never lived before

1:50:351:50:45

# Softly, deftly, music shall caress you

1:50:471:50:55

# Hear it, feel it secretly possess you

1:50:561:51:05

# Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind

1:51:051:51:12

# In this darkness that you know you cannot fight

1:51:121:51:20

# The darkness of the music of the night

1:51:201:51:27

# Let your mind start to journey to a strange new world

1:51:291:51:36

# Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before

1:51:361:51:42

# Let your soul take you where you long to be

1:51:431:51:55

# Only then can you belong to me

1:51:591:52:13

# Floating, falling, sweet intoxication

1:52:151:52:24

# Touch me, trust me savour each sensation

1:52:261:52:34

# Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in

1:52:351:52:43

# To the power of the music that I write

1:52:431:52:51

# The power of the music of the night

1:52:511:53:02

# You alone can make my song take flight

1:53:251:53:33

# Help me make the music of the night. #

1:53:361:53:55

APPLAUSE

1:54:061:54:08

Thank you.

1:54:131:54:14

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back the divine Ms Lesley Garrett.

1:54:251:54:29

# No more talk of darkness

1:54:561:55:00

# Forget these wide-eyed fears

1:55:001:55:03

# I'm here, nothing can harm you

1:55:031:55:07

# My words will warm and calm you

1:55:071:55:12

# Let me be your freedom

1:55:121:55:15

# Let daylight dry your tears

1:55:151:55:19

# I'm here, with you, beside you

1:55:191:55:23

# To guard you and to guide you

1:55:231:55:27

# Say you'll love me every waking moment

1:55:271:55:36

# Turn my head with talk of summer time

1:55:361:55:44

# Say you need me with you now and always

1:55:441:55:52

# Promise me that all you say is true

1:55:521:56:00

# That's all I ask of you

1:56:001:56:07

# Let me be your shelter

1:56:071:56:10

# Let me be your light

1:56:101:56:13

# You're safe, no-one will find you

1:56:131:56:17

# Your fears are far behind you

1:56:171:56:21

# All I want is freedom

1:56:211:56:24

# A world with no more night

1:56:241:56:28

# And you, always beside me

1:56:281:56:32

# To hold me and to hide me

1:56:321:56:36

# Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime

1:56:361:56:44

# Let me lead you from your solitude

1:56:441:56:52

# Share each day with me, each night, each morning

1:56:521:57:01

# Anywhere you go, let me go, too

1:57:011:57:08

# Lesley, that's all I ask of you

1:57:081:57:13

# Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime

1:57:131:57:21

# Say the word and I will follow you

1:57:211:57:30

# Share each day with me, each night, each morning

1:57:301:57:38

# Say you love me

1:57:381:57:41

# You know I do

1:57:411:57:45

# Love me, that's all I ask of you

1:57:451:57:55

# Anywhere you go, let me go, too

1:58:171:58:25

# Love me, that's all I ask of you. #

1:58:281:58:43

APPLAUSE

1:58:471:58:49

I hope you've had as good a night as we all have had up here.

1:59:131:59:15

Have you enjoyed yourselves tonight?

1:59:151:59:17

-CHEERING

-Hasn't it been marvellous?

1:59:171:59:19

And no rain! Thank you!

1:59:191:59:22

Wonderful.

1:59:221:59:25

We'd like to finish now with one of my very favourite

1:59:251:59:27

pieces of film music.

1:59:271:59:30

This is from Moulin Rouge and it involves the wonderful choir here

1:59:301:59:34

and it's called Come What May.

1:59:341:59:36

Thank you for being such a wonderful, wonderful

1:59:361:59:38

Belfast audience. See you next time.

1:59:381:59:41

# Never knew I could feel like this

2:00:172:00:24

# Like I've never seen the sky before

2:00:242:00:31

# I want to vanish inside your kiss

2:00:312:00:37

# Every day I love you more and more

2:00:372:00:43

# Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place

# Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace

2:00:502:00:57

# Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste

2:00:572:01:03

# It all revolves around you

2:01:032:01:08

# And there's no mountain too high

2:01:082:01:12

# No river too wide

2:01:122:01:16

# Sing out this song I'll be there by your side

2:01:162:01:23

# Storm clouds may gather

2:01:232:01:26

# And stars may collide

2:01:262:01:33

# But I love you until the end of time

2:01:332:01:42

# Come what may

2:01:422:01:48

# Come what may

2:01:482:01:55

# I will love you until my dying day

2:01:552:02:04

# Oh, come what may

2:02:042:02:10

# Come what may

2:02:102:02:19

# I will love you

2:02:192:02:25

# I will love you

2:02:252:02:28

# Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place

2:02:282:02:36

# Come what may

2:02:392:02:46

# Come what may

2:02:462:02:53

# I will love you until my dying day. #
