0:00:190:00:24

-Tonight we'll be spending time

-with Sister Miranda...

0:00:360:00:40

-..a nun who lives in Holyhead...

0:00:400:00:44

-..but who regularly travels to

-holy places in Ireland and France.

0:00:440:00:48

-And Bangor Cathedral Choir's treble,

-Steffan Llywelyn Ellis, will sing.

0:00:490:00:55

-As we hear about the Catholic faith

-from Sister Miranda in Holyhead...

0:01:010:01:07

-..our hymn singing comes from the

-famous Moriah Chapel on Anglesey.

0:01:070:01:13

-Today we've come to

-the town of Holyhead.

0:03:370:03:40

-Its Welsh name, Caergybi,

-was derived from Saint Cybi...

0:03:400:03:44

-..who was a cousin of Saint David.

0:03:440:03:47

-It's an ideal place

-in which to build a convent.

0:03:470:03:50

-Sister Miranda

-is one of the nuns who lives there.

0:03:500:03:54

-I was brought up on Anglesey.

0:04:080:04:11

-I attended

-the convent school in Holyhead.

0:04:130:04:16

-When I was about 15 years old...

0:04:160:04:19

-..I decided

-to spend 15 minutes every day...

0:04:190:04:24

-..praying

-and meditating on the gospel.

0:04:250:04:27

-I also spent time

-reflecting on Jesus' stories.

0:04:290:04:32

-By doing that...

0:04:320:04:35

-..I asked myself, what could I do...

0:04:360:04:40

-..in response to God's love?

0:04:400:04:43

-That's when

-I decided to become a nun.

0:04:450:04:48

-I was unhappy...

0:04:500:04:53

-..and I had to wrestle

-with that question for months...

0:04:530:04:59

-..before deciding to become a nun.

0:04:590:05:02

-I joined the order

-at 17 years of age.

0:05:020:05:05

-Initially I went to Ireland...

0:05:050:05:08

-..and spent two years there

-as a period of induction...

0:05:080:05:12

-..before I took my vows.

0:05:120:05:14

-When I returned to Holyhead, they

-asked me to train as a teacher.

0:05:150:05:19

-That meant going back to school

-because I had no A levels.

0:05:190:05:24

-I then went to Bangor University.

0:05:240:05:27

-I came back here

-to teach at the boarding school.

0:05:280:05:33

-In time,

-I became the school's headmistress.

0:05:330:05:37

-It was a small school

-with about 150 pupils.

0:05:380:05:42

-A decision was taken

-to close the school in 1983.

0:05:430:05:49

-After selling the school building...

0:05:500:05:54

-..we moved

-to this house in the town.

0:05:540:05:57

-We started working in the parish.

0:05:590:06:02

-I was asked to go to Ireland,

-so I stayed there for 10 years.

0:06:020:06:07

-Later, I returned to Holyhead...

0:06:070:06:10

-..and worked full time

-in the parish.

0:06:110:06:15

-We have a car...

0:06:170:06:19

-..which means we can

-give people lifts to church...

0:06:190:06:24

-..or to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

0:06:250:06:28

-Many people

-are without family and are lonely.

0:06:280:06:32

-They need some sort of support.

0:06:320:06:34

-Next is a performance by Trio, three

-voices from the Caernarfon area.

0:08:590:09:03

-Accompanied by Annette Bryn Parri...

0:09:030:09:06

-..Emyr, Bedwyr and Steffan

-have recorded a CD...

0:09:060:09:10

-..and have already made

-a big name for themselves in Wales.

0:09:100:09:14

-Some of their songs have a religious

-theme. This is To Where You Are.

0:09:140:09:19

-# Who can say for certain

0:09:330:09:37

-# Maybe you're still here

0:09:370:09:41

-# I feel you all around me

0:09:410:09:45

-# Your memory's so clear

0:09:450:09:48

-# Deep in the stillness

0:09:490:09:52

-# I can hear you speak

0:09:530:09:56

-# You're still an inspiration

0:09:560:09:59

-# Can it be

0:09:590:10:02

-# That you are mine?

0:10:030:10:06

-# Forever love

0:10:060:10:10

-# And you are watching over me

0:10:100:10:13

-# From up above

0:10:140:10:18

-# Fly me to where you are

0:10:180:10:23

-# Beyond the distant star

0:10:240:10:29

-# I wish upon tonight

0:10:290:10:32

-# To see you smile

0:10:320:10:36

-# If only for a while

-to know you're there

0:10:360:10:43

-# A breath's away

-not far to where you are

0:10:430:10:51

-# Are you gently sleeping

0:10:550:10:58

-# Here inside my dream?

0:10:590:11:02

-# And isn't faith believing

0:11:020:11:06

-# All power can't be seen?

0:11:060:11:09

-# As my heart holds you

0:11:090:11:13

-# Just one beat away

0:11:130:11:16

-# I cherish all you gave me

-every day

0:11:170:11:22

-# Because you are

0:11:230:11:26

-# My forever love

0:11:260:11:30

-# Watching me from up above

0:11:300:11:36

-# And I believe

0:11:370:11:40

-# That angels breathe

0:11:400:11:43

-# And that love will live on

-and never leave

0:11:440:11:52

-# Fly me up to where you are

0:11:520:11:57

-# Beyond the distant star

0:11:570:12:02

-# I wish upon tonight

-to see you smile

0:12:020:12:09

-# If only for a while

-to know you're there

0:12:090:12:16

-# A breath away's

-not far to where you are

0:12:160:12:24

-# I know you're there

0:12:260:12:31

-# A breath away's not far

0:12:310:12:36

-# From where you are #

0:13:080:13:11

0:15:420:15:46

-It was an important place

-of pilgrimage for the old saints.

0:15:460:15:50

-As its name suggests,

-it's considered a holy place.
