years ago today I first broadcast live music to the nation with The

Tube. 30 years and one day later, I'm proud and delighted to continue

that tradition to the English- speaking people. We welcome

piano, she was at the Royal Albert Hall last night. She is one of

France's greatest stars. We are delighted to have Patricia Kaas in

the studio. Welcome. APPLAUSE Lovely to see you here. You have

this wonderful record. When did you first hear Piaf? A long time ago.

When I was ten, maybe. You know, it is a part of - you have to know

Piaf when you are in France. It is a part of an emotion that you have

to know. Is she like the embodiment of the French character, do you

think? Ooh, difficult to say. Yeah, we learned a lot of her, actually.

It's another period of time. Now, everybody thinks a bit different

and does things differently. When you come back to her music, is

there always something new in it? Actually, I noticed there's a

strength, even when there's a dramatic thing. Yeah? She has this

strong, positive energy. She knows if something bad has happened, life

goes on. That is a nice feel. on Friday, on the show on Friday,

you will come and do the whole of this song. Can we do a little bit?
