Unfortunately, there's a lot of families,

in particular younger families, who are struggling.

For a considerable period of time I was a single parent

and you have to manage and you have to sort of budget,

you have to count the pennies and you have to make

decisions about what becomes a luxury as opposed to a necessity.

Speaking to a lot of working parents, they are facing redundancy,

job insecurity, and some working women are making really tough decisions.

We're taking Joseph to school. His school is about eight miles away.

We rely on decent priced fuel to enable us

to carry out basic everyday tasks, especially taking your child

to school, where you want to educate them, to make sure they get

the best start in life possible.

If you're struggling to get them there in the first place,

that has a huge impact on working families.

He's lucky, as most children in Wales are,

in that they benefit from free breakfast.

The Welsh Government's commitment to this means that working families

can stay in work rather than make a stark choice of having to give up their job,

simply because they can't afford to look after their children.

I feel that the other parties are not doing enough.

People are in absolute despair at this moment in time in Wales -

decent, honest working people who make a valid contribution to our economy.

Right now, because of the austerity cuts

and the way in which central government is operating,

I am worried about Joseph's future.

However, with Welsh Labour and their policies around education

and their policies around challenging youth unemployment,

around skills for life, then I know they are going

to help make a difference to Joseph's life for the future.
