Hello and welcome back to Glasgow and further coverage | :00:41. | :00:43.
of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. We have some wonderful sport lined | :00:44. | :00:54.
up. of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. | :00:55. | :00:59.
This is what's coming up between now and 3pm. | :01:00. | :01:03.
We're heading to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome for track cycling and | :01:04. | :01:07.
the men's team pursuit - featuring that man, Bradley Wiggins. | :01:08. | :01:12.
Cracking start to the women's hockey as England take on Wales. | :01:13. | :01:20.
We'll be at the SECC for the judo - all eyes on England's Ashley | :01:21. | :01:25.
McKenzie. And we'll be | :01:26. | :01:26.
building up towards the men's triathlon at 3pm | :01:27. | :01:27.
with the fabulous Brownlee brothers. Lots going on today. The second | :01:28. | :01:43.
netball match is underway, Australia versus Wales. That is online, along | :01:44. | :01:51.
with rhythmic gymnastics, lawn bowls, table tennis, and squash. So | :01:52. | :02:01.
much choice, where do you start? We start with the track cycling from | :02:02. | :02:07.
the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. The men's team pursuit. Australia are | :02:08. | :02:13.
the world champions and defending Commonwealth champions. But England | :02:14. | :02:18.
are pretty handy also. Especially with this man in the saddle. My | :02:19. | :02:29.
first memories were of a velodrome. I feel like I was born to right | :02:30. | :02:36.
track. It all started for me in Kuala Lumpur will -- at the | :02:37. | :02:50.
Commonwealth Games. It is starting to feel like we are now approaching | :02:51. | :02:54.
the Games and getting closer. You get nostalgic. 16 years ago in Kuala | :02:55. | :03:04.
Lumpur I was 18. It was a big deal, going away with senior riders you | :03:05. | :03:11.
look up to. Seeing all these great Olympians that came. It had a | :03:12. | :03:24.
massive impression on me at 18. He is a great talent, he could soon be | :03:25. | :03:32.
a serious medal contender... I never imagined years ago I would achieve | :03:33. | :03:36.
all of this will stop I got a bronze medal in Sydney. I thought, if I | :03:37. | :03:45.
never do anything again, I have got an Olympic medal. Everything else | :03:46. | :03:56.
would be a bonus. Then after the tour and London 2012, I was a bit | :03:57. | :04:03.
fed up with cycling. It meant a lot people coming up and saying it | :04:04. | :04:05.
changed their lives, the Bradley Wiggins factor, there have been | :04:06. | :04:11.
times I wish I never done all that. I'll left for France relatively | :04:12. | :04:16.
unknown and came back feeling like the most famous man in the country. | :04:17. | :04:24.
Don't get me wrong. We milked it for a week or two. Some of the best | :04:25. | :04:35.
nights, I will never forget being at the Stone Roses concert and meeting | :04:36. | :04:42.
people who knew who you were. Meeting Paul Weller at Hammersmith | :04:43. | :04:45.
Apollo, there were lots of perks, don't get me wrong. If I to compete | :04:46. | :04:59.
with this team in Rio, which I want, I do not want to take it for granted | :05:00. | :05:03.
that you can just come back in after a couple of weeks preparation. So | :05:04. | :05:09.
thinking about where I going into years time, I am putting all my | :05:10. | :05:13.
focus on that. They Commonwealth Games gold is one of the few things | :05:14. | :05:20.
missing from my collection. When I was 18 was just all happening for | :05:21. | :05:25.
me, only starting. So it just takes me back there a little bit. I think, | :05:26. | :05:34.
we have the last 16 years gone? Great to see him in Glasgow. This is | :05:35. | :05:42.
the only event he has taken part in. Qualification for the final began | :05:43. | :05:45.
earlier today. Let's bring you up to date. Finishing in the third and | :05:46. | :05:53.
fourth, New Zealand and Canada respectively. They will battle for | :05:54. | :06:01.
the bronze medal. Let's see who will compete for gold. | :06:02. | :06:10.
Seven time Olympic medallist. Six times a world champion on the track. | :06:11. | :06:20.
Three silver medals in his career from the Commonwealth Games. Never a | :06:21. | :06:26.
Commonwealth champion. He has won everything else including of course | :06:27. | :06:38.
the Tour de France. Steven Burke and Ed Clancy also on the team. Andy | :06:39. | :06:44.
Tennant won the world title for Great Britain in the team pursuit, | :06:45. | :06:50.
there he is, in 2012. It is a strong team. | :06:51. | :06:52.
Extremely strong. Bradley Wiggins has put everything | :06:53. | :07:06.
into this one event. 16 laps of the track. He is back on the boards. He | :07:07. | :07:18.
has started and fourth, the easiest position to start in, but Clancy has | :07:19. | :07:23.
taken up the start, he is always they -- there are start man. It is a | :07:24. | :07:35.
huge effort, but it does save time, you save on bike lengths. About a | :07:36. | :07:41.
10th of a second every time you change over. Clancy is such a strong | :07:42. | :07:47.
rider. Burke taking over at the front. Bags of experience in this | :07:48. | :07:53.
quartet, and not just from Bradley Wiggins. | :07:54. | :08:00.
Andy Tennant now, a former junior world champion, taking it up. Now | :08:01. | :08:09.
Bradley Wiggins takes over. On the front for the first time. Looking | :08:10. | :08:14.
comfortable, smooth and fluid on the bike. Almost floating. She has done | :08:15. | :08:23.
a lap and is now coming into a lap and a quarter -- he. A nice start. | :08:24. | :08:45.
We are back with Clancy. The fastest time so far. Just having to squeeze | :08:46. | :08:52.
a little bit down the back straight. Just a 10th of the lap | :08:53. | :09:01.
schedule. They are there or thereabouts. Andy Tennant taking his | :09:02. | :09:14.
turn. The halfway mark in the men's pursuit qualifying. They wrote a | :09:15. | :09:30.
3-59 in training last week. -- rode. Let's see how they freshened | :09:31. | :09:37.
up. Bradley Wiggins doing another big turn on the front. Very calm and | :09:38. | :09:48.
collected. He looks focused. Not distracted by individual pursuits or | :09:49. | :09:56.
time trials. He wants to settle back into this team pursuit squad. Superb | :09:57. | :10:06.
from Wiggins. Nice change as well, straight on the back. Clancy just | :10:07. | :10:18.
walking a little bit, trying to soak up that start effort. But he is | :10:19. | :10:26.
nicely in the slipstream. Just struggling. He is out now. They are | :10:27. | :10:32.
down to three. Down to the core group. Tennant on the front. Wiggins | :10:33. | :10:42.
right behind him. Clancy, two-time Olympic champion, in the middle. | :10:43. | :10:49.
They come up to take the Bell. Bradley Wiggins will take the Bell, | :10:50. | :10:53.
will he continue and do the whole lap? No. Clancy is leading them now. | :10:54. | :11:02.
Here they come into the finishing straight. A good strong ride and an | :11:03. | :11:07.
excellent return to the track for Bradley Wiggins. They brake the | :11:08. | :11:14.
four-minute barrier in the 4000 metres team pursuit. Burke, Clancy, | :11:15. | :11:19.
Tennant, Wiggins. A fine ride. Away they go. 16 laps. If it goes to | :11:20. | :11:42.
form, Australia will make it to the final. | :11:43. | :12:00.
Glenn O'Shea on a huge dealer. -- gear. Such a talented young squad. | :12:01. | :12:09.
On the front, Edmondson, double world champion, Ruth Davidson now | :12:10. | :12:27.
taking over. Technically superb. Incredible to watch. The only | :12:28. | :12:49.
problem they may face is that for -- keeping a lid on Borridge's speed, | :12:50. | :12:59.
he really could tear apart the whole team. They look so good. The coach | :13:00. | :13:11.
just giving them visual and audio. Just shouting at them. Australia | :13:12. | :13:18.
well up on England and everybody else. Nine laps to go. | :13:19. | :13:30.
Very clean riding at the moment by Australia. From what we have seen, | :13:31. | :13:37.
this is team pursuit team at its best. | :13:38. | :13:37.
It really is. The Australians, best. | :13:38. | :13:45.
whether they have the speed is debatable at times. Generally not. | :13:46. | :13:49.
But, technically, absolutely fantastic. | :13:50. | :13:54.
A bit like Sir Bradley Wiggins coming back into the line-up, Jack | :13:55. | :14:00.
Bobridge has settled in, as if he has never been away. | :14:01. | :14:04.
It would have been quite an easy transition for Bradley Wiggins, | :14:05. | :14:08.
certainly for Bobridge. These guys have sent -- spent so much of their | :14:09. | :14:15.
careers on the track. Once you have got it, it is like riding a bike, | :14:16. | :14:22.
you never forget! 1.5 seconds quicker than England. | :14:23. | :14:26.
They know how to measure their effort, they know the time they need | :14:27. | :14:29.
to do. They have gone back down on their | :14:30. | :14:34.
schedule. The coach is walking towards them. They have backed off. | :14:35. | :14:38.
They are riding well within themselves as it stands. | :14:39. | :14:44.
Despite the expression on Alex Edmondson's face. | :14:45. | :14:50.
It is oversimplifying it a little saying they are riding well within | :14:51. | :14:53.
themselves. Often it is easier to stay on your schedule, especially if | :14:54. | :14:59.
you are riding a big gear. As you come back off it, if you are geared | :15:00. | :15:04.
up to go quicker, you go slower, the gear comes back at you. Like driving | :15:05. | :15:08.
in fifth gear when you should be enforced. | :15:09. | :15:12.
They will take the bell, the next time they will be on the finishing | :15:13. | :15:17.
straight. There is not much in it. It is impossible to judge how much | :15:18. | :15:22.
this Australian team have. As we have said, they know the type to | :15:23. | :15:26.
beat and what they have to do to get into the final. They looked really | :15:27. | :15:31.
smooth, really strong. They are the world champions. | :15:32. | :15:39.
A superb ride. Australia will take some beating later on today. It will | :15:40. | :15:45.
be Australia against England for gold and medal in the men's team | :15:46. | :15:48.
pursuit. Confirmation of the qualifying | :15:49. | :15:53.
times. They race against England in the final. | :15:54. | :15:57.
New Zealand will be up against Canada for bronze. | :15:58. | :16:07.
A very tasty final. Moving away from the team pursuit. | :16:08. | :16:10.
Jason Kenny is the Olympic champion in the men's sprint, and is looking | :16:11. | :16:13.
to bounce back here in Glasgow after a disappointing World | :16:14. | :16:16.
He has made an OK start today, having to come through the | :16:17. | :16:24.
repechage, beating Callum Skinner by a whisker. He remains on course for | :16:25. | :16:29.
the final. There's a packed schedule | :16:30. | :16:31.
at the velodrome later today. In the women's 500m time trial | :16:32. | :16:34.
at around 16:40, Anna Meares, | :16:35. | :16:36.
the undisputed queen of Australian track cycling, will be competing | :16:37. | :16:37.
in her fourth Commonwealths. With no Vicky Pendleton around, | :16:38. | :16:40.
can England's Jess Varnish take Then, it's the turn | :16:41. | :16:42.
of the women paracyclists. As we've just seen, it's the men's | :16:43. | :16:47.
team's pursuit final at 17:36. Then, to round things off, it's | :16:48. | :16:53.
the turn of the team sprinters to turn on the afterburners inside the | :16:54. | :16:58.
Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome at 18:03. But the first medals | :16:59. | :17:08.
of the 20th Commonwealth Games have already been decided in the women's | :17:09. | :17:10.
triathlon, and we can cross now to Strathclyde Country Park where | :17:11. | :17:19.
the ceremony took place. Matt Chilton and Annie Emmerson | :17:20. | :17:20.
will talk you through it. The winner of the Bronze medal, | :17:21. | :17:32.
representing England, Vicky Holland! What a day for Vicky Holland. I'm | :17:33. | :17:35.
not sure too many people thought that she would be in amongst the | :17:36. | :17:39.
medal winners. But she comes away with a bronze | :17:40. | :17:42.
medal. Presented by Prince Edward. The winner of the silver medal, | :17:43. | :18:13.
representing Canada, Kirsten Sweetland. | :18:14. | :18:17.
What a great performance it was by Kirsten Sweetland. She kept herself | :18:18. | :18:22.
out of trouble in the water. In the end, she was the only one who could | :18:23. | :18:27.
match the two English athletes for pace. | :18:28. | :18:36.
A good start the Canada. Always solid medal winners at the | :18:37. | :18:41.
Commonwealth Games. Off to a silver start hearing the triathlon. | :18:42. | :18:47.
Gold medallist and Commonwealth champion, with a time of 1.58 point | :18:48. | :18:57.
56, representing England, Jodie Stimpson! | :18:58. | :19:03.
What an incredible performance from Jodie Stimpson. She accepts the gold | :19:04. | :19:15.
medal, the first of the Games to be awarded. Already dedicating it to | :19:16. | :19:20.
some of her coaches gathered to enjoy this moment in the sunshine in | :19:21. | :19:25.
the Strathclyde Country Park. Jodie Stimpson is the Commonwealth | :19:26. | :19:27.
champion. Ladies and gentlemen, the national | :19:28. | :19:40.
anthem of England. APPLAUSE | :19:41. | :20:56.
The first playing of Jerusalem echoes around the Country Park. | :20:57. | :21:00.
England are off the mark in the women's triathlon. There may well be | :21:01. | :21:07.
two English athletes on the podium following the men's triathlon. | :21:08. | :21:14.
We were just watching that medal ceremony, you can see the emotion, | :21:15. | :21:20.
how much does this mean to Jodie Stimpson and Vicky Holland? | :21:21. | :21:24.
Jodie is probably one of the most passionate people in triathlon. She | :21:25. | :21:29.
had dedicated her whole life. She is motivated and works so hard. | :21:30. | :21:33.
Watching that and seeing her family, it means the world. I am delighted | :21:34. | :21:39.
she is on top of the podium. They are so patriotic, to be wearing | :21:40. | :21:46.
the team England kit, winning a medal. | :21:47. | :21:49.
A special moment. The Commonwealth Games is unique to that. It would be | :21:50. | :21:55.
important for me to be in my Welsh kit. | :21:56. | :22:02.
Not long to go between the two baiters. The men's triathlon starts | :22:03. | :22:07.
in one hour. What will be in fish girls be feeding back to the boys | :22:08. | :22:12.
about the course, the conditions? The most important thing is the | :22:13. | :22:17.
temperature, it is really warm. More like the South of Spain than | :22:18. | :22:22.
Glasgow. The boys will have to take that into consideration. They don't | :22:23. | :22:26.
want to overheat early on and struggle on the run. | :22:27. | :22:29.
That has happened to Alistair in the past. The brown League brothers are | :22:30. | :22:35.
favourites to beat on the podium. Do you think the rest of the pack are | :22:36. | :22:45.
going for the third spot -- Brownlee. | :22:46. | :22:52.
Hopefully, they will all be fighting just as hard. The race starts at | :22:53. | :22:57.
three o'clock. Join us at 2:50pm for the build-up. | :22:58. | :23:00.
That's also from Strathclyde Country Park. | :23:01. | :23:53.
The people of Glasgow have made us feel very welcome over the past few | :23:54. | :23:59.
days. You can watch every sport live online. All available. If you fancy | :24:00. | :24:06.
some table tennis, that is there for you. | :24:07. | :24:13.
The athletes here at the Commonwealth Games need to feel at | :24:14. | :24:18.
home if they are to win medals. The London 2012 gold medallist Katherine | :24:19. | :24:21.
Grainger has been to the Athletes' Village to find out if they are | :24:22. | :24:34.
digging their digs! What is amazing about it? It's | :24:35. | :24:50.
actually like a village. You hear about the Commonwealth Village but | :24:51. | :24:54.
you don't know what it is. You arrive and, it is a village! What is | :24:55. | :24:59.
your role here at the Commonwealth Games? I am managing the performance | :25:00. | :25:07.
centre, the Lions Den as we like to call it. Just the team England. | :25:08. | :25:13.
Everyone uses it, it is about making sure the athlete stays healthy, and | :25:14. | :25:17.
enhances their recovery from training and competition whilst on | :25:18. | :25:22.
the village. Have you been playing on the pitch? We won 3-0. Nice. Were | :25:23. | :25:31.
you being gentle on them? Yes. Half pace. It is nice to be walking | :25:32. | :25:41.
through the streets, you get a special nod. This is the English | :25:42. | :25:49.
side, this is the Welsh side. Quite a lot of police walking around. I'm | :25:50. | :25:54.
not used to that without thinking, what has somebody done? Look at | :25:55. | :26:02.
that. We are modelling together. Is it true if you win a gold medal you | :26:03. | :26:06.
will change it again? I can't see. If someone will buy the paint, | :26:07. | :26:13.
sorry, the die, then I will happily accept any offer. Are you here to | :26:14. | :26:21.
relax, or do the nerves start? Is it serious? It is all a bit serious | :26:22. | :26:39.
now. England's women's hockey team have | :26:40. | :26:43.
yet to take home a gold. Many in the squad were part of the British team | :26:44. | :26:47.
who took home a bronze medal at London 2012. Part of that team, now | :26:48. | :26:52.
England captain, is Kate Richardson-Walsh. You may remember | :26:53. | :26:57.
the horrific jaw fracture she suffered but remarkably carried on. | :26:58. | :27:12.
Hi, Kate, how are you? It is all very posh here! | :27:13. | :27:18.
Can you believe we are coming up to almost two years since London, the | :27:19. | :27:22.
Commonwealth Games which seemed an age of way? I can't now, I have to | :27:23. | :27:27.
pinch myself will stop when I go into the schools I have to pinch | :27:28. | :27:35.
myself. -- I have to pinch myself. I can't believe it, it has gone so | :27:36. | :27:39.
quickly. COMMENTATOR: Ouch. You can tell | :27:40. | :27:46.
straight away that is not good. The pain must have been immediate, | :27:47. | :27:51.
you must have known straightaway it was serious. I can't remember | :27:52. | :27:55.
specifically feeling pain. I got cramp, Wigley. It must have been | :27:56. | :27:58.
shock. Straightaway, my teeth were in the | :27:59. | :28:06.
middle of my mouth, I had fractured my jaw. My surgeon said we can fix | :28:07. | :28:14.
this. I said, great, thought it was the end of it. After the surgery, | :28:15. | :28:24.
they said I might be able to go back. Whatever he said, I grabbed | :28:25. | :28:30.
onto it. Anybody would have done the same thing in that position. You | :28:31. | :28:35.
have trade that hard, you have the dream of a potential gold medal at | :28:36. | :28:37.
the Olympic Games. in the morning knowing that an | :28:38. | :28:54.
Olympic medal could be yours. It was difficult because obviously | :28:55. | :28:58.
we lost to Argentina 24 hours previous. So we have 24 hours of | :28:59. | :29:06.
Harkness. Tears and soul-searching. -- darkness. But by the time it got | :29:07. | :29:14.
to the bronze medal game, the feeling was just one I will never | :29:15. | :29:21.
forget. We just knew, we're going to do this. | :29:22. | :29:28.
Absolutely brilliant! What a comeback! Great Britain have won the | :29:29. | :29:40.
bronze. If that was an emotional roller-coaster, and I imagine, a | :29:41. | :29:45.
professional high, 2013, personally, was a very big year. | :29:46. | :29:53.
Yes, on the pitch and off it. I got engaged and married. | :29:54. | :29:59.
There are so few openly gay people across any sports. To get married | :30:00. | :30:04.
whilst you are still playing, and your wife is in the same team, I can | :30:05. | :30:09.
think of another example of that. You are a very unique couple. | :30:10. | :30:16.
It is funny. Obviously when you are in things you do not see the outside | :30:17. | :30:21.
perspective. We just love each other and are happy to play in the same | :30:22. | :30:27.
team. I think because our team-mates and friends and family are | :30:28. | :30:29.
supportive and understanding we don't see anything strange or | :30:30. | :30:37.
different. Certainly, I know this is my last season playing | :30:38. | :30:43.
internationally. The last fitness test, the last tournament, it is the | :30:44. | :30:47.
last of everything, so it is quite emotional. | :30:48. | :30:52.
And if you come away from Glasgow with the gold medal that has eluded | :30:53. | :30:56.
you so far, is that where you might think, well, there is not that long | :30:57. | :31:06.
to go till the Rio...? No! I have spoken to lots of people | :31:07. | :31:10.
who have retired, they say, you just know. It is time for me, time for | :31:11. | :31:15.
the squad, and there are other things I want to do will stop I feel | :31:16. | :31:23.
like the next chapter is ready. It was an incredible story in | :31:24. | :31:27.
London, if there were awards for bravery, Kate would have won it. We | :31:28. | :31:33.
are heading to Glasgow Green for the start of the woman's hockey. There | :31:34. | :31:39.
was a surprise visitor to proceedings after the success of the | :31:40. | :31:44.
opening ceremony. There is the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Off to | :31:45. | :31:49.
see the first match for England, taking on Wales. Here's all you need | :31:50. | :31:54.
to know about hockey. It is a fast and first game played | :31:55. | :32:08.
by 11 aside teams. There are five substitute who may be used an | :32:09. | :32:14.
unlimited number of times. Girls may only be scored from within the | :32:15. | :32:18.
shooting circle, and arc extending 16 yards from the goal. Suspension | :32:19. | :32:23.
cards can be issue to players who commit fouls. A green card is an | :32:24. | :32:29.
automatic two-minute suspension. A yellow card, minimum five minutes. | :32:30. | :32:34.
Penalty corners are awarded for infringements. Ten metres either | :32:35. | :32:40.
side of the goalposts. Only five defenders may enter the shooting | :32:41. | :32:45.
circle. If it is a tie at the end of the match, a penalty shoot out will | :32:46. | :32:50.
take place. In Glasgow both the men and women's competitions comprise of | :32:51. | :32:56.
rules of five teams each. The top two progress to the semifinals. | :32:57. | :33:03.
It is fast and furious, and restart with the women's competition. Kate | :33:04. | :33:13.
Richardson Walsh has a tough task. Scotland and Wales made for juicy | :33:14. | :33:18.
opponents. It is the top two who go through to the knockout stages. | :33:19. | :33:20.
First up, England versus Wales. We are underway. Trying to get early | :33:21. | :33:47.
nerves out of the way. Finding the pass. Townsend. Gets the whistle. | :33:48. | :34:07.
Their key player, nearly pinched, a good contest. This is Ainsley. The | :34:08. | :34:32.
long, lanky frame. Not good to see, Twigg. I think it has hit a muscle, | :34:33. | :34:42.
rather than her hand only. Hopefully no ligament or cartilage damage. Not | :34:43. | :34:51.
a great start. Jones. Good hustle. Wins the contest. Off to Jordan. | :34:52. | :35:01.
Daniel Jordan. Just 18 years of age. -- Danielle. Just watching Twigg on | :35:02. | :35:16.
the sidelines, she can jog, but not sprint. Lots of pain on her face, | :35:17. | :35:21.
unfortunately it speaks a thousand words. I would be surprised if she | :35:22. | :35:27.
comes back out for this game, it looks too much of a risk. If you | :35:28. | :35:34.
enter the physical contest against the Welsh, you play into their | :35:35. | :35:44.
hands. A chance for Wales. Really taking the game to England. No love | :35:45. | :35:56.
lost between these players. Lovely play up the left flank. Driving the | :35:57. | :36:02.
ball into the circle, and the savings made. Still an | :36:03. | :36:15.
opportunity... Brooks this time. No whistle. Now, through the midfield, | :36:16. | :36:28.
Townsend, looking to get past one, two, she does so easily, drives | :36:29. | :36:34.
towards goal, but again stopped superbly well. How is that not a | :36:35. | :36:46.
whistle? Brilliant play by Townsend. One of the quickest midfielders that | :36:47. | :36:51.
England have. Great to see her carving through the defence. Are | :36:52. | :37:05.
they questioning? It is awarded to England. A chance for the first | :37:06. | :37:12.
goal, but safe and goals. Slapping a glove on the stick. Game two of big | :37:13. | :37:24.
O Commonwealth Games, and the Queen is here with the Duke of Edinburgh. | :37:25. | :37:32.
-- game two of the Commonwealth Games. | :37:33. | :37:47.
Lifted into the circle... It did not touch a thing. No goal. But another | :37:48. | :38:01.
chance! And a magical finish! She took advantage of a brake and | :38:02. | :38:05.
concentration from the Welsh. That is what she does best. They tried to | :38:06. | :38:15.
get the ball moving early and Alex reacted to a poor pass. She has | :38:16. | :38:21.
smashed that into the roof of the net, no chance for the goalkeeper. | :38:22. | :38:34.
A little touch pass for Wales, an opportunity... Just could not drag | :38:35. | :38:41.
the ball in, the skill missing at close quarters. This has not always | :38:42. | :38:51.
been tidy, and that cleared the benches! Richardson Walsh is waiting | :38:52. | :39:01.
at the top of the arc, and it is Richardson Walsh, a lovely little | :39:02. | :39:12.
touch, and almost exponential -- almost in there. The deflection came | :39:13. | :39:24.
of a body. Wilkinson. Takes the follow-through. Lucy was keen to win | :39:25. | :39:31.
the ball and just came in from the wrong side. A chance for England, | :39:32. | :39:39.
and that came off the foot of Wilkinson. Ainsley. Up there for | :39:40. | :39:48.
England. Here it goes, it is Ainsley, another little variation, | :39:49. | :39:57.
and another penalty corner. Shoes is asking why. Looking for a referral. | :39:58. | :40:11.
-- Hughes is asking. They must now mentally prepare themselves for what | :40:12. | :40:18.
England will conjure up. It is in, is it? It should have been! | :40:19. | :40:37.
Excellent defence. A real melee. Laid off. Across it goes, a shot at | :40:38. | :40:45.
goal... It is just wide by Townsend. She deserves a goal for the way she | :40:46. | :40:51.
has put her again together today. Properly should have gone across | :40:52. | :40:54.
goal rather than aiming at the near post, but that is a minor detail. So | :40:55. | :41:03.
much pressure on the free hit, a loss of concentration, and this is | :41:04. | :41:09.
now indicative of what England are exerting on Wales. They were looking | :41:10. | :41:15.
to the top of the circle. Looking for a target person. Opt to the | :41:16. | :41:22.
top, to Richardson Walsh, at goal, and a chance for England... Again, | :41:23. | :41:43.
mop top! Mopped up. Nice tackle by Brooks. England could not get past | :41:44. | :42:01.
Alice Brooks. Back-end, just wrong-footed, and it is a scramble | :42:02. | :42:11.
once more, the shot at goal goes off the | :42:12. | :42:12. |
