England v Ukraine Football: Women's World Cup Qualifiers

She absolutely nailed it. She took that so well. It was a great effort.

Welcome to Shrews bring -- Shrewsbury, tonight's World Cup

qualifier is against Ukraine and so far, it has been a walk in the park.

It has taken them less than three minutes to score the opening goal.

A terrific performance by the England women's team. Six of

minutes. What a start. Early steps are being taken on the long road to

Canada. England eight, Turkey nil. Oh, she took that so well. England,

4-0 up. hat-trick of this World Cup

qualifying campaign. After scoring 29 goals without reply

in their five matches so far, England have arrived for their final

World Cup qualifier at home. Mark Sampson takes charge of his second

qualifier, but faces his biggest challenge yet against Ukraine. It is

a big night that the visitors, who arrived on Tuesday. Ukraine are

arguably the toughest opponents for England. And this is what the group

looks like. Wales have just kicked off against

Montenegro. We will show you the goals later in the programme. A key

goal scorer for England is missing tonight because of a ligament

injury. Instead of being on the pitch, she is right beside it. Faye

White and Mickey Gray are here. How frustrating is it for you not to be

how? I have my kit on underneath! It is just racing. -- it is

frustrating. I will be glad to see how well they do. It is frustrating.

I have a long road, but I am looking forward to it and I am working hard

to get back. How important is it for Mark Sampson to maintain a record?

It is vital, you look at how well England have played and in this

group we are the strongest team and we should be leading the pack, but

today will be a stronger test against Ukraine. They have played in

the European 2009 competition. They have not qualified for a World Cup

yet, which will motivate them. How will England benefit, facing tougher

opposition? That is what I think they need. You

need an acid test. In the last game, the full-backs were allowed

the freedom to push forward. This evening will be different. There are

quality players out there. It will be a big test of the England back

four. Maybe not as many goals as they had against Montenegro. Mark

Sampson has had to deal with the loss of three key players. Toni

Duggan and Karen Carney have been ruled out also. You have three

players injured. How has that impacted on the team selection? You

want as many available as possible and these are fantastic footballers

who have done well for us. But another door opens and players will

come in tonight confident they can do the job. We know we have got to

be better than just 11 players. You need a group of players who can

perform at their maximum and win football matches. I am looking

forward to CDs players perform well. -- see the players. It will be a

test. It is about how we can perform and improve on the last performance.

I like your attacking style of play. What is the mood like in the camp?

The players are enjoying their football. It is good to see. We want

them to enjoy it, rather than feeling pressure, we want them to

have the opportunity to express themselves. We encourage them to be

brave and express themselves. We have talented players. We want to

make sure we are not vulnerable to counterattack and if we need to

defend, we can do that. But we want to start positive and hopefully we

will see our players perform well tonight.

This is his second qualifier in charge. Can we still call him the

new manager? I think so. What do you think of the changes? It is mainly

due to players out injured. I know from his time in the WSL, he likes

his teams to play different formations and this is a good chance

to try something new. Maybe it is an opportunity for this

game. And an opportunity for Jade Moore. She is a feisty midfielder.

She likes to tackle and I am pleased she is starting. Natasha Dowie gets

a start. She has been in prolific form. I am glad she is getting the

chance to play up front and hopefully she has some goals

tonight. And Jess Clarke, that comes at the expense of your injury. She

has worked really hard and I will be pleased if she can get on and show

everybody what she can do. What do you think about playing two

upfront? It is positive. Karen Carney and Toni Duggan are missing

and they came up with the goals, so it is unfortunate. Mark is giving

other people the opportunity. Having Natasha Dowie on the left-hand side,

pushing further forward. We shall see what she is like from the start

of the game. When you are on the bench, you can see the picture and

what you are up against. It is up to her, can she fill those shoes?

One player out of the setup the four years is back. Sanderson refused to

play under the old regime. She has been talking to us. You come from a

football background, tell us about that. It is in my blood from the age

of being a baby, I used to go to my father's games. Is my family are all

about football. My mother watched eight games over the weekend she

told me last weekend. You started at Arsenal and went through the ranks

and move to Chelsea. I went to play in Philadelphia for two years but

the league folded for financial reasons. I went to play in Spain for

eight months and then I was picked up by Boston in the new league and

it is my second season now. Are you enjoying it at Boston? One of the

best things I did, going to America, not just as a footballer, I

have grown as a person. Will we see Lianne Sanderson back?

flattering to be wanted, but I am happy to be in Boston for now. OK, I

was trying to get an exclusive. In 2010 you

was trying to get an exclusive. In the main reason? In the environment

back then I was not that happy and I felt less of a person. I did not

feel I was given the support necessary to succeed. Now I feel

supported. I have been given the full support since I came back into

the squad. When I was called up, I was so nervous. It was not

necessarily the foot wall that I was concerned about, it was how the

girls would be with me and the staff would be with me but sometimes I

pinch myself when I am on the flight back to America, because I cannot

believe I'm here. When you were called into the squad, what did Mark

Sampson say? From the beginning he said I want you to be yourself, I

want you to be Lianne Sanderson. It was the most amazing feeling to be

told I could just be me. And he was going to give me the support

necessary for me to succeed. I was going to mention the Montenegro

game, it looks like you were playing with a smile, is that how you felt?

When you are happy you play well. It was a massive game, the first time

my nephew had seen me play live and all my family came and saw me play

for England again stop when I left the team, it affected my whole

family, people would come up to them on the street. They understood why

and supported me, but it has been tough. To see my family, it was an

amazing day. For you, what are your objectives, internationally? Being

out of the setup killed me. I never regretted the decision but it was

not easy. But my objectives are to get picked for England and a well

consistently. And to be picked for the next World Cup in Canada. And

lastly but not least, hairstyles. I think you are in competition with

me! Lianne Sanderson made a dig impact

in the last game against Montenegro. What impact has she had the team?

She is a massive personality. Always chatting and talking. It is great

she is back. We have enjoyed having her back. How impressed were you

with her? I expected her to play in the centre, holds the ball, bring

people into play. But the energy levels, she was fantastic. She made

this herself. It was her move and she got away, it was spinning. It is

what you want to see. I think the defender tried to claim it, but it

was a fantastic finish. It is great to see her again. She was involved

in everything. She has battling qualities. She is enthusiastic about

her play, but when playing with her at Arsenal, she was always easy to

find. You always want to see your centre forward when you look up. She

would always be looking for it, looking to get on the ball. That is

her strength, the entity to find space. And she is good at passing

and playing in the players. And in front of goal, she would always

score, nine times out of ten. And providing opportunities for others.

She set up a couple of goals in the last game. And she was lucky to get

on the scoresheet. In the last game, there were seven goal-scorers,

which was pleasing to show others can pitch in. Let's talk about Lucy

Bronze. PFA Player of the Year. Defenders have not had much to do

yet, to be fair. They have not been tested. It was about keeping

concentration in those games when the play was in the other half. Lucy

Bronze has had a couple of years of being injured, some quite serious

injuries. She has shown the mental strength and desire to get herself

back to the top. She only has ten caps and she looks comfortable. And

the ability to play different positions and attacking positions.

She likes to get forward. The Ukraine team have arrived here with

their home country in a state of turmoil, that they are determined to

prove themselves. Ukraine's footballers could be

forgiven for having more on their minds than the World Cup qualifier

against England. They have played just three games in Group 6, with

their game against Belarus being postponed last month. So how

difficult is it for Ukraine to qualify for the World Cup? Actually,

most of the players are paying in the Russian competitions in the

Russian leagues, but all the relatives and families live in the

Ukraine, set each player hopes it will end peacefully and friendly. --

so each player. For me, but oil is my greatest occupation in my life,

so I am trying to do my best to keep my mind calm and think only about

the games to distract ourselves from everything that is going on in our

country. Ukraine's layers are convinced that they are focused

tonight and they have strength in their team. Ukraine are physical and

we will have two earned the right to play our game. Hopefully we can get

six out of six. We have heard they have a strategy and a stick to that.

I think it will be a tough test. On paper this always looks like

England's copies challenge. We are always fighting until the end. We go

into each game like it is our last one. We will fight to the end and we

hope we qualified for the World Cup. -- qualify for the World Cup.

Would you be comfortable travelling to the Ukraine? It is arch to the

FA. -- it is up to the FA to make that decision. Will it be difficult

for the Ukraine players to focus on the game. I don't think so. Once you

get into camp, you stay focused. A lot of them play in Russia, but once

you are in the club can, you lot of them play in Russia, but once

into a little bubble anyway and your focus is on the match. --

into a little bubble anyway and your camp. They did have a good result

against Wales, so we should not underestimate them. Will it be

difficult for them to focus? I think they will be fine. You are just a

fashion. The get over there and do the job and hopefully come away with

the wind. You concentrate on the next game after that. One other game

going on in Group 6 is Wales against Montenegro. We have some early role

news. They are 2-0 up. The first goal was scored after ten minutes,

the second one of the 13 missing -- the second one after 13 minutes.

Northern Ireland are in Sweden. That much is nearly finished. We will

bring you be score later on. What do you think about the chance Wales has

of going forward. They would have expected to be Ukraine, but it could

come down to the last game. England will be playing them away in

Cardiff. That will be quite a feisty game. Lots of players play in the WS

L, so they know each other. Do you think they can fight for first

place? They have already dropped five points with a loss and a draw.

That Ukraine draw was a tough one for them. They just had to keep

plugging away and beat the other teams convincingly. It could come

down to the last game against England. If they get a win, they are

in a good position. What is England's key to success against

Ukraine? To be confident and take confidence in the performances of

the last five games. Hopefully we will get some early shots and early

goals. It is going to be a difficult test, but we have got the right

players on the pitch and we have the right bench to come on to do the

business if it is necessary. One of the spectators here is one of the

top scorers in this campaign. Toni Duggan is here.

Toni Duggan, what have you done now? I picked up an injury and I am upset

to be missing the game tonight, but there is enough quality in the squad

to get the result we need. You did score a couple of Patrick 's in the

qualifying games previously. How easy will it be for you to watch

this? I am devastated, but I am here to support the girls and hopefully

they will do the job. You have had some great wins. What is the

confidence in the team? It is buzzing. I sent a text presaged to

the girls before and told them to keep the winning streak going.

Hopefully you will see the excitement and buzz around the team

tonight and we can put on a good show for the fans. Will Ukraine be

your toughest test so far. I thought Wales would be, to be honest. We

overcame them earlier in the year, but Ukraine poses a different

threats compared to the likes of Montenegro and Turkey. But the girls

will be ready for them and I am confident they will get the win.

are so many different personalities in the group. It will be a tough

test and we will have to be devotional and diligent in our

game. Ukraine are going to be very physical and we need to be up for

the battle and earned the right to play the game. It will be about what

we have in our team. We have so many good individual players. If we get

it right, no one can stop us. So, it is England versus Ukraine, here in

Shrewsbury. Mark Sampson's side are looking to maintain their unbeaten

three matches and drew in Wales. They once pushed England or the

weighing, but they lost on aggregate. A lovely evening here in

little bit of a cut in the air. And in Pewsey aspic crowd. Let us have a

look at the England squad. -- and enthusiastic crowd.

Ukraine will be a tough test for England, but they should win it if

they play the same way they have been. One thing that is clear very

early on, England have hyped superiority. -- hyped superiority.

I think they are going to start with the diamond. That is the word from

the camp. Sara Pearson from Sweden is tonight's referee. They are

kicking from left to right in this first half. England unbeaten in 23

World Cup qualifiers. An amazing record. 22 consecutive clean

sheets. Immediately, Sanderson is on the front forks. She was magnificent

in the big tree over Montenegro down in Brighton. -- in the victory over

Montenegro down in Brighton. Tetyana Romanenko, she will go up.

Their system is fluid. Ukraine will know that England attack.

There is a real energy to England, the last few games I have watched, I

do not think there will be as many goals tonight but they have been

full of goals. This is what you need, going into a World Cup,

fingers crossed, they will have to be able to cope with different

demands. 2002, the last defeat in this competition.

Lucy Bronze is the new PFA Player of the Year. And Stokes, who has made a

big difference to the team, brought in for the Cyprus Cup when England

did well, at the turn of the year. She is a natural left-back. She was

missed in the early parts of the qualifying. If you have an act role

left foot, it has been a positive for England, the last couple of

games. I am sure she will look to get on the scoresheet. Fara Williams

drops between the two centre halves, which gives them license to go

forward. Wales, up against Montenegro.

Eni Aluko with hope good scoring record, again, for England. Three

this season in five internationals. Scored at Euro 13. Saunderson looked

the -- looked for Natasha Dowie. Relying on Sardis in four balls like

that. Tash Dowie and Eni Aluko, looking to be slid in.

Ukraine are a cut above England's opponents so far.

Montenegro, down against Wales. They are trying to develop the women's

game in Montenegro. The three back there will be a

feature, Lucy Bronze, Steph Houghton and the others pushing into advanced

positions. A corner kick to England. As the

keeper came out, it hit the hand of one of the Ukrainian defenders.

Number 19 got her hand on to it. The referee did not seem to see it, or

access to it as a proper handball. Apanaschenko, she is a record

goal-scorer. She has not found the net so far in qualifying.

That was a good chance for Olga Boychenko. On the counter. That is

what they will try to do. This is how Ukraine play, quick on the

counter. They managed to get bodies up there. Needed a better finish

because I do not think they will get many opportunities like that, that

it will be on the counter. When England play forward to Scott,

their centre-half got herself into a bad position. Irina -- Iryna

Vasylyuk. She does not look like a natural centre-half. Fitting in at

this level, it is difficult to do, particularly with a key position

like centre-half. England have made enquiries about the possibility of

playing Ukraine away, enquiries about the possibility of

those troubles. They are awaiting a reply. It is due to be played at one

of the venues for the last men's European Championships. Mark Sampson

loves attacking football. He likes his players to press the ball. He

admires the determination of his new captain, Steph Houghton, who has not

had the best start at Manchester City in the Super League. A lot

expected of them because of the name? It always came into it because

it was a work in progress. They picked up players such as Steph

Houghton, expecting it to be the start of big things. The rest of the

players have been with them for a while but at the moment it is a step

up, the WSL. A couple of times, they have been three on three at the

back, Ukraine. Mark Sampson will not be happy with that.

Jade Moore and Jill Scott have got themselves into positions where they

have picked up the second ball on the edge of the area. Jill Scott has

the capability to score from there. Olga Boychenko will gallop up and

down this left-hand side. Sweden will be coming to play in a

friendly in August, it has been announced. An important

international warm up game. Offside, but the flag stayed down.

The flag went up merry late. The goalkeeper came out. The flag went

up so late! Lianne Sanderson was as surprised as many. It is when they

wait until the player... She was obviously offside. She looked at the

assistant referee. Then she puts the flag up. That causes that challenge,

as well. Eni did well. She has quick feet.

She was miles offside. One of the latest flags we have seen all

season. She really has improved as a player

because of her time in America. I think she is holding on, Maryna

Masalska. Lianne Sanderson is used to playing in the states. She is

used to the high level, physical game. She is a strong girl herself.

The Swedish friendly will be on August three. There is the Ukraine

coach. A centre-half in his time. It is a more organised setup for

women in Ukraine. They have over 400 players.

The game is developing all the while here with the women's Super League.

Jill Scott. The keeper watched it like it was going to go ten metres

over the bar, and it was not that file. -- far.

Ukraine are defending quite deep. Bodies in front of the ball, more

organised tactically than Montenegro in the last game. They will answer a

few questions that they will pose them.

She had to stretch then. England have been in trouble once or twice.

When you have a player like Aluko running towards you, it is fickle. I

thought she might have struck it with her left foot, so there was a

possibility for a penalty, but well done.

Demi Stokes and Alex Scott have got themselves forward in this game. A

great effort. England are under pressure now.

Directly through the middle. Lewsey Bronze got in there and cleared it

away. A decent start. Jade Moore has had a

great start to the season. She played well in the champions cup.

She is a solid player. I played with her when she was a 16-year-old at

Leeds. She is no-nonsense and no-frills. She just gets on with it

and she is very tough. This is a rare hard night for

England at home. Ukraine are struggling to cope with the

physicality of Jill Scott. She just gets her body in the way.

Unbeaten at home in 18 games, including friendlies. This one

belongs to Aluko. Vira Dyatel is one of the most

experienced players for Ukraine with 40 caps.

Aluko is a confident player. She knows her own ability and what she

is capable of. Clever as well. She has a first-class law degree from

Brunel University. She continued her studies was painful all. That is

Alex Scott. Alex was a forward and likes to get up front.

A lovely ball away towards Alex Scott. Sanderson is in the middle.

A great run, but she could not match it with a cross. Stones coming in

front of Olha Boychenko. Natasha Dowie made the run, but she

was offside. You can see what England are trying to do. They are

trying to get the kind -- get behind the Ukraine rack for -- back for.

The bodies that Ukraine get forward when they are attacking is usually

three or four and it is difficult for England to cope with.

That was a rasping drive, but it was the wrong side.

just did not have the finish to match there. However, she can get

away from defenders. Good play. Sanderson with a run from Jade

Moore. Sanderson is trying to find a way. She is slowly moving into

position. She will definitely work it out. Olha Boychenko has put a

challenge on that. Fara Williams. That was a bit

expansive. That is the measure of England's frustration. Ironically,

the best England have played is when they have countered

the best England have played is when counter. When they put the defensive

rock in front, it is difficult to pick them off.

A couple of chances for Scott and Aluko so far, a couple of half

chances. The bank of four, bank of five, when England attack.

Mark Sampson, joined by Marion Spacey, at the touchline, back in

the England fold. A terrific player. She was a great role model. The link

between the players and management, it is a key appointment.

She was unlucky, she had worked really hard. Jill Scott is doing

well. She seems to be everywhere. She has played in the diamond

formation. Physically, she can engage the right full-back for

Ukraine. In the final of the Cup against France.

Masalska went back to cover it, drawn back in. And Jill Scott

arrived. England have not found,

couple of moves, they England have not found,

their normal passing rhythm. That is down to Ukraine and how they

defended. When they get to the final third, they find the players in

front of them, they have to move the ball quickly, get players beyond the

attackers. When they have had space, that has been the effective

attacking. Natasha Dowie so far has been

largely an impact substitute. We have seen what Olga Boychenko can

do. She has paced down beside. Causing

Stokes problems. Worried a little bit by a couple of counters Ukraine

have had. The referee was right. Had a good

view of it. It looks like a clear foul to mean. -- to me.

Just trying to force issues, somewhat. There are not many bodies

in the middle of the pitch. The option has to be out wide, work the

ball into the box from the wide areas.

The first real opportunity to have a long-range shot on goal, for Fara

Williams. Quite deep so far, sat in front of the two centre halves

England. See the pace of Olga Boychenko. Demi

Stokes is equal to it, which is good for England. They need to counter

the pace down the Ryan Sidebottom -- down the right-hand side.

It is a terrific performance by Ukraine, holding England. They have

a game plan, they are sticking to it. England have to be more patient.

More imagination in how they move the ball in the final third.

Ukraine are 23rd, their lowest ranking. They have been as high as

16. This was always going to be a tricky game.

There is very little cohesion out there at the moment. Ukraine are

frustrating England. They always knew this game would be more

difficult than others they have faced. They have to be patient. If

they score in the 89th minute and it is 1-0, job done. They have to be

patient. It is 1-0. The breakthrough comes

the England with five minutes left in the half. Genuine quality. They

have the lead. Perfect description, a bit of quality. Tash Dowie scores

goals. Watch her movement. She fakes and then goes right in front of the

defender. That is a perfect header, right into the corner. Just what

England needed. The Ukraine defenders were a little bit static.

She sniffs out a goal-scoring opportunity and gets on the end of

it. That is why she is in the PFA team of the year. She has come off

the bench so far in the matches. She starts today, and she gets a goal.

Five already from Liverpool. She scored against Sunderland. A

hat-trick in the Continental Cup at the weekend.

Now this is a different ask for the Ukraine. They have been at times

threatening without creating major chances. Will they settle for this?

Will it be damage limitation. The reason they have been a threat is

they get five players forward on the counter and managed to get back into

a defensive shape. They have not come here to lose. I would suspect

they would see a point is a good results. -- good results. I think

they will want to be in the game until 75 minutes and then break out

on the counters. They will not want to concede again. 2-0 is a different

proposition. And the goalkeeper makes a very good

save. A really good save by the keeper. You could see Lianne

Sanderson picking up the ball. It was a fantastic ball. Aluko turned

it into a goal-scoring opportunity. She should have done better with it.

Knowing Eni Aluko she will be disappointed she has not got on the

scoresheet. Scott did well. Masalska got it

away. Such a good goal-scoring run. 25 in

26 Liverpool since moving there from Everton.

That was given away. That was not a good ball by the captain. And then

she was under pressure. Again, saying calm it down, a little more

composure. Keeping possession is the key. Mark Sampson has worked on that

a lot with the team. A change in the mindset after the European

championship disappointment. A tournament of forlorn hope and

despair. He has gone back to basics. He has got the team together as a

unit. All of the girls get on well. He makes that happen. Also,

reminding them what an honour it is to put on an England shirt. He does

present the England shirts before the games and you need to be

reminded of that sometimes when you have 50, 60, 70 caps. It is

something every footballer in the country will want to do.

He gives the players jobs to do when they join up. Some of them doing

media work, social wraps. Gives they join up. Some of them doing

responsibilities. -- social reps. A bit more composure about England

now. Aluko. Fara Williams. Jill Scott. That is a lovely ball.

Along run, but the strike went wide. -- a long run.

The half comes to an end with England's frustrations finally ended

five minutes before the end of play. Natasha Dowie's fourth goal for

England. Well, before the game kicked off, we

said it would be tough for England and in many way it has been. They

have had to be patient. They have not had a lot of training time to

work on this new formation, but it is intensive. They did get

frustrated earlier on. Ukraine have been attacking a lot with three or

four. Aluko has been coping very well. Natasha Dowie, it's not her

game as much. However, they are growing into the new formation.

Overall that they -- overall, it is good that they are finishing the

first half with a goal. So you think the new formation isn't working? I

don't think it is. The full-backs have done a lot of running. Was that

frustrating for you to watch? Definitely. We gave away a lot of

passes. We were playing very narrow. It was good that we eventually got

the goal. That has settled us down and created a few more chances.

Hopefully if we can use the width, that will be massive for us. The

first cross that actually hit someone was the header. Where you

impressed with Ukraine? I am. It has been a difficult first half and you

have to give credit to Ukraine. They have worked on this system and how

Ukraine are going to play and they have got it right. It took long

enough, but let us take a look at the goal. Again, Jill Scott pulled

out on the right. It is not really her game. She is not used to going

out into these areas. You have to give a lot of credit to Natasha

Dowie's movement. The defender is close, she doesn't know where her

opponent is. There, she is not closed down. A good crossing from

Aluko. Eni Aluko had chances as well. She had three or four chances.

She will be disappointed that she did not put them in the back of the

net. This was a great run by Demi Stokes. I was worried about her

going straight into the defence. A great feat to get past the three

defenders, just a shame that they didn't end in a goal. A great run

here as well. She is using her physicality. She could probably have

gone across the goalkeeper. Again, it was a good, direct run, but she

will be disappointed that she did not score. A brilliant all their

from Lianne Sanderson. She is making those rounds off the back line,

which is great. We need more of that. It has been good though that

she has been able to get those chances. You are saying the England

full-backs were not getting themselves into dangerous positions.

That is right. They should be our strength this evening. Demi Stokes

and Alex should be trying to get in close and playing more like

wingbacks. When we have gone into those areas, like here now, we have

got Stokes on the left-hand side and it is not good enough. She has got

ample time to pick someone out in the variables. Again, here as well.

This is where we should have our wits, but because Ukraine are so

disciplined, they are making it wits, but because Ukraine are so

hard. The full-backs need to help out. When you do get into those

areas down the left and right hand side, you need to make sure you

deliver with quality. The movements came from Jill Scott, who I thought

had a good first half. Eni Aluko was our best player in the first half,

but it is too central. It makes it easy for Ukraine because they have

got everyone behind the ball. This is why it is only 1-0. Look at how

many players they have got behind the ball. There are nine. So where

is your wits? It is out wide. Wales is currently second in Group 6, also

in qualifying action. Let us bring you up to speed with all the goal

of the girls at Arsenal and they are up for that game in June. Before

that the showpiece of the domestic season takes place. It is the

women's FA Cup final. The biggest day of the year in English women's

football. Arsenal have scored. That is a great header. White gets the

goal and Arsenal have the FA Cup for 2013! And the date for your diaries

is Sunday the 1st of June. The game is live from Milton Keynes, here on

BBC Two. Coverage starts at 4:15pm. The semifinals take place on Sunday.

Now, Notts County ladies are through to the final four. What do you think

their chances are? It will be a difficult test. Everton have a lot

of players who have come through their youth ranks. We will have to

be on top form and perform well, but it will be a difficult test. We beat

them in the league, so maybe a bit of revenge. Anything can happen

though. I have been privileged to play into FA Cup finals. It will be

a hard test for us, but if we play well, we will get to that final.

Macro and you also smashed in a third for Arsenal? I did. To play in

a FA Cup final is an honour. To be there with Notts County, it will be

great. To see Mike team-mates get there will be amazing, but we need

to perform well. I bet you don't mind watching that back again!

Now, half-time here in Shrewsbury. It is England one, Ukraine nil.

What have you made of it? I think we have struggled a bit, to be fair.

Little pockets on the half term that one -- on the half term that weren't

controlled well. We have not got the width. They are playing very tight.

They are also playing quite high line. There needs to be an

improvement in the pace. At the moment, we are not capitalising on

the areas I think we should. The last time we spoke to you within the

Euros and it was all doom and gloom. What do you make of things now? We

have had some good results, but they are getting to the nitty-gritty with

Ukraine. It is important to get the winter night. It was a relief to get

that goal. Ukraine don't want to be well beaten. Do you like Mark

Sampson's style of play? Yes. He has got them working hard and you can

see the girls are enjoying it. However, when we do get possession,

we need to show composure and not try to hit them too quickly and too

early. And how important is it to qualify for Canada rushed and Mark

Sun it is massive. -- and how important is it to qualify for

Canada? It is extremely important we really need to nail it tonight.

Lianne Sanderson, she made a big impact. She wants to get on the ball

and get involved and set things up. I thought she was doing well,

peeling out into the channel and trying to disrupt the backline of

Ukraine. She is one we look to to be the creative one in this match. We

can get back to the commentary team for the second half. Lucy Ward and

Jonathan Pearce. England no changes at half-time.

Kicking from left to right. It has become a cold evening, they will

want to get on with it. They will want to get at the Ukraine defence

with more width. I wonder if the captain's armband is

wearing her down? I am sure she will settle into it. I have no doubts

when he picked her as captain she had all the attributes he wants,

enthusiasm, ability to lead players, ambition.

Steph Houghton very popular. The real hero at the Olympics. -- a real

hero. In every game you have to earn the

right to play, you have to win the battle.

Fara Williams is playing at the back of the diamond.

Just see what happens when you get Stokes out wide. I did not think she

was offside. A little ball in, and that is how she got a goal. If you

are technically good, head the ball, you tend to score a lot of goals.

Tash Dowie does. A little too straight, from Jill

Scott. She has the energy to burst forward, as we saw in the first

half. Wales, 4-0, against Montenegro.

She is going to get a yellow card. Tash Dowie, she did well. I am not

sure it is a yellow card. There we go, two - zero. It was a

well taken goal. A brilliant touch to it by the captain. Just the start

England needed at the start of the second half. It was a well worked

free kick from England. Fara Williams, just knocked it sideways.

Change the angle a little bit. It was a great ball in by Eni Aluko.

Steph Houghton, great touch. You thought it was going away, but it

went back into her path, Eni Aluko. And a good finish. Ten goals in her

last 15 internationals. Six in this qualifying campaign. That was more

like the old Steph Houghton. She was determined and got in there, a

lovely touch. She clattered the ball out and almost hit the presentation

team. Almost not one of the girls' heads off. Oh, it was the floor

manager who was hit. I have not seen Mickey Gray move as

quickly as that for a long while. You see the importance of Steph

Houghton at both ends of the pitch, attacking and defending set pieces.

She pops up with goals from corners and free kicks. She knows what to do

in that situation. Right into the path of Aluko.

It was scrambled away in the end by Vasylyuk. England playing with more

freedom. Stokes getting into positions where she can put in

crosses. The wrong choice there, but Tash Dowie can make a nuisance of

herself. Almost gets another chance. Demi Stokes getting forward. And

Sanderson has forced another corner. Back across goal and tucked in

beautifully by Natasha Dowie. England have a third. That was a

well worked goal. Two in minutes in the second half. Whatever Mark

Sampson said in the break it has paid off. Steph Houghton got the

first touch from the set piece. It was a good corner. Puts it into the

danger area and Tash Dowie instinctively gets the ball past the

defenders and the keeper. At this level, teams are not going to lay

down and let you beat them. You have to win the battle. You have to

impose yourself. The difficulty England had in the first half, and

it is coming to fruition now in the second half.

Suddenly, the game has a completely different complexion. Scoring at key

times, just before half-time, knocking the confidence of the

opposition and just after half-time. If England win their next game and

the one in June, that will be enough.

England should, given the resources put into women's football, compared

to other teams in the group, they should dominate. It is a long

campaign. You get injuries, it does have an effect, there can be

changes. But going through professionally and disposing of

teams... Ukraine were a different proposition and they have done well.

They beat Spain in November here in 2007 in front of 8700 fans, a

stadium record at the time. Norway, three -- 3-0, here.

is amazing what a couple of goals do feel confidence. Playing more

freely. You can see the confidence growing.

That was picked up by Apanaschenko. Still very conservative, Ukraine.

Apanaschenko, dropping back again. Ukraine on Richard at the moment. I

think she likes defending, she seems to jog back. She likes to go

forward, but she likes defensive duties. She has a great pace about

her, the 28-year-old. A UEFA cup runner-up ack in 2009. -- back in

2009. Their second effort of the night.

They are making a substitution. Oksana Yakovyshyn replaces her. This

is her first appearance of this campaign. She was a regular in the

World Cup campaign of the 2011 finals, when they were beaten in a

play-off. One or two of the Ukraine players

are starting to look a little bit tired.

England don't need to force anything now. They can play the back fall. --

rack four. -- back four. Jill Scott has gone off and Laura

Bassett has come on. Smith is also on for Sanderson.

Brilliant finish! But there's touched did it. -- the first touch

did it. Great pace and a wonderful finish for Eni Aluko. She deserves

that. Smith is still a top polity player.

She has learned to adapt her game as she gets older. She has not got as

much pace, but technically, she is spot on. She is a great player and

has a lot to offer England. There seemed to be a little bit of a

delay there until she fell. I do think it even got a touch. -- I

don't think it even got a touch. I definitely would not have expected

this score lined halfway through the first half. England have done well.

Stokes has coped very well with one of Ukraine's most dangerous players.

Sylla macro Ukraine have also been undone by the timing of England's

goals as well. Just over 20 minutes to go. The drums are beating.

Aluko just gets up to top speeds so quickly. By the time she's done

that. -- by the time she's done that, she has moved away from even

the fastest player. I can't see Ukraine coming back into

the game. Victory for England. There is a waste pressure on you

when you play for England. -- always pressure on you. They dug in and got

on with it and there is no coming back though for Ukraine.

That is fair enough. I den think there was any kind of challenge

there. -- I don't think. That was a good touch. Here comes

the cross. A problem for Daryna Apanashchenko. I think there needs

to be a calming influence there. Some confusion and a couple of

injuries. When the Ukrainian number nine gets it right, she is straight

down there, on the side. They have done their homework. One

of the staff went out to see Ukraine.

Alex Scott was in there. It bounced back to Natasha Dowie and she is of

side. -- offside. She could not find a place she was

looking for. It took Tash Dowie two wives. -- to wide.

Another free kick given away by England. A challenge from Lucy

Bronze. That was not timed properly. A little bit late.

Every time she gets the ball, Eni Aluko, she gets the crowd on their

feet. She adds the energy and paste to the forward line and as the game

has gone on, she has got better. England have three hat-tricks in

this qualifying campaign. Stokes has gone bombing forward. She

slipped. Laura Bassett has settled in well in that midfield position.

She is a tough competitor. She will win the ball and put passes through.

She moved to Chelsea. The first Birmingham player to be capped for

England in 2003. Vira Dyatel, she has the ability. If

they had been less conservative, they could have created problems for

England. But they have not made too many clear-cut chances. They needed

to get those shots on target. They did get players

to get those shots on target. They unfortunately for them, nothing came

of that. Eni Aluko goes off. Jess Clarke comes on. She had a brilliant

start to the season with Notts County. Seven goals in six games.

She is no longer the young player, she is an important figure for her

team. She scores goals. She was on the ball immediately. And

that was a great cross. Lovely skill from the substitute. 11 minutes to

go. And that was well steered, the ball.

A great entrance into the game. That little touch. Past the defender. The

keeper did well to get a touch. 5818 in Shrewsbury. A creditable

attendance for this international. They are becoming more professional.

The key move was to get them on their contract. Bassett, the first,

in 2009. That was a good ball in by Jess

Clarke. I do not think Tash Dowie expected her to get it in that

position. Has the ability to get beyond

defenders. Steph Houghton, had a role in

creating the two goals. Since you did that, she is playing with more

confidence and leading by example. It can only be good for England that

players are coming off the bench of the quality of Jess Clarke, Laura

Bassett, Kelly Smith, and making an impact. The depth of the squad is

high standard at the moment. Wales finished 4-0 against

Montenegro. In the end it looks like a

comfortable evening for England. It does not quite tell you this story

because we had to wait until the 40th minute. Natasha Dowie. But the

flurry of goals at the start of the second half, three in the first 17

minutes after the break. That gives them the 4-0 scoreline.

Eni Aluko, Faye White's player of the match. And deservedly so. She

caused Ukraine problems from the start. A couple of chances to open

the scoring. She persevered. She used her incredible pace and great

feat with a couple of goals, and well-deserved. -- feet.

A free kick to England. Dyatel With the foul. She has been a regular in

the last couple of qualifying campaigns when they have been beaten

in play-offs and that was always going to be their main hope that

this competition, to finish second above Wales. It will be a stiff task

for Wales going to Ukraine. And Mark Sampson's side have come through a

stiff task. They have have them watched.

Definitely exceeded his expectations. He would have expected

a win, but perhaps the scoreline... Confirmation to the crowds that is

the player of the match is Eni Aluko. And you can hear the

response. Oh, it was given away. This is a

real chance. Apanaschenko. Siobhan Chamberlain, the mark of a good

goalkeeper, having had so little to do, kept her concentration levels

high and takes a good save. I am pleased for her, she is a

top-quality keeper when she is called upon. It was not a bad shot.

Good goalkeeping. It was a good save. Siobhan Chamberlain has spent

most of the game watching. She controlled her area and, when she is

needed, she pulls off a safe like that and keeps the clean sheet

record intact, which she will be thinking about. 23 consecutive clean

sheets in World Cup and Euro qualifiers for England. They have

made a substitution. Olga Boychenko, who was impressive in the first half

has gone off. Replaced by Yuliya Korniyevets.

A late flag again. As soon as she got on the ball she was deemed to be

offside. . She made the motion towards the ball... I know how

frustrating players find that. She puts in the effort and then you see

the flag. And it was a terrible ball away by Apanaschenko.

Ukraine are looking for a consolation. A free kick for the

foul by Steph Houghton. At better second half for her and a much

better second half for England. Good squad effort again. They are all

smiles. What did you make of Jade Moore's

performance tonight? She is quietly effective. She breaks up play, she

is busy and she plays at a high intensity. She has done well

tonight. Three minutes confirmed as the amount of stoppage time we will

have. A speculative effort from Ukraine.

Tetyana Romanenko is there again for Ukraine. She has got promise. She

has been around for the past two or three qualifying campaigns.

Smith the turning into the challenge. -- Smith turning into the

challenge. That would have wrapped it up. Your

overall thoughts on the night? Ella macro women have done well. -- they

have done really well. For a long time it looked as if

Ukraine would be England's most awkward opponents.

England with two goals from Natasha Dowie and two from Eni Aluko. They

have eaten Ukraine in the end in Vatican. They had to wait a while

before the scoring was opened, but then Aluko followed Natasha Dowie. A

comfortable victory. Aluko wrapped it up on 62 minutes. It is another

win for England. They are still 100% and they are top of the table in a

very dominant position. They have scored 33 goals without reply in

this campaign. So this is the situation in Group

6: that is more like it from England.

What is your assessment of the second half? The first half, it took

them a while to get used the formation they were playing. A few

players looked as they were not quite sure about what they were

meant to do. They certainly grew into the game and in confidence,

especially after the first goal. More passing and fluidity in the

second half. They stretched the backline as well. Overall, you would

not have thought it would be for Neil -- 4-0. Big changes in the

second half? Definitely. We came out of the blocks a lot wetter. -- a lot

better. I thought we were more confident and a lot less sloppy on

the passes. It was great to get the goals and the clean sheet. Another

three points. We have got to take a lot from that game and be pleased.

How impressed were you in the second half? There was more urgency. Jill

Scott was drifting to the left and Jade Moore was doing the same on the

right. That meant the Ukrainians could get down the side and create

opportunities. The kilo brogue was the goal just before half-time. --

the killer blow. There was a great save from Chamberlain as well to

keep that clean sheet. A perfect 100% record. That is what Mark

Sampson wanted. We thought we would be tested more against Ukraine and

that was the case. They are a lot more organised and what hard to

break down in the first half. It is pleasing that the players have

reacted to something new and have grown in confidence and brought

themselves into the game. Jade Moore did well in midfield. Letters cross

over to Sue Smith who is peach side with the goal-scorers.

Ladies, congratulations and well done on your performance. Natasha,

you did not start in the last England game, did you have something

to prove? It is great to get my first start in front of a home

crowd. However, getting the three points is the most important thing.

Two goals were you as well. Amazing. How did you find it? I think we did

well in the new formation. Mark has given us that opportunity. We dealt

with it well. We got on the ball a lot more and rotated well. It is a

pleasing performance, but the most important thing is that three

points. What is it like playing for England? It is fantastic. It is

enjoyable for oil. -- for all. Are you confident going into Canada?

Sign macro absolutely. We have two keep going. It has been a really

positive campaign so far. We haven't conceded any goals. We cannot become

complacent. We have another camp coming up in June. Thank you,

good 4-0 is against Ukraine? It's great. In the first half, it was

difficult to break them down. The players had to show patience. They

were tired towards the end, but overall, a great game. You did play

a different formation. How do you think the girls adapted to that? It

was difficult in the first half, but we address the imbalance in the

second half. That is all your home games done. You have away games

against Wales and Ukraine. How do you feel about that? First and

foremost, the team and I want to thank the fans for all their

support. It's been great. Yes, we do have some tough away games with

different challenges, but we are in the place we wanted to be. We have

one every single game and we have a clean sheet. Players are fighting

for jerseys. Thank you very much and well done.
