Hello and welcome to this glorious setting for the Austrian Grand Prix.

Back on the calendar after an 11 year absence. Over the years, this

track has undergone various face-lifts and it's now known as the

bell -- the Red Bull Ring. A different name but the same

picturesque mountains surrounding this amphitheatre style arena.

Today, it is the home of almost 100,000 fans. The sun is beating

down and already this place has provided a complete shock.

Qualifying yesterday, wow! Following a break of 11 years,

Formula one is back in Austria. They have shown themselves that they are

in the first few places on the grid. Williams are strong, who will

conquer the demanding Red Bull Ring? He is off! Just getting back on. Oh,

my goodness. Exceeded the track limits that turn eight. He is

proving to be quite tough out there for Red Bull. Is this enough for top

ten? No, it is not, but fails as well. Sebastian Vettel has failed to

get through into the top ten. The final part of qualifying here in

Austria. It is going to be a duel for pole position once more between

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg and we'll keep an eye on the Williams

cars of both Bottas and Martha. For them to beat Mercedes is a tall

order today. A great first lap by Valtteri Bottas. A long time since

Felipe Massa has had a pole position. He goes second-fastest. On

track to beat Bottas' time. He has gone wide, that is it, the end of

that lap. We'll have to give that time up. The pressure is on. He has

to try to get the pole position. Rosberg, a great lap, a quick lap,

not quick enough to beat Bottas. Hamilton has to get a lap in now

because at the moment he is ninth. Oh, Hamilton has lost it! He has not

set a lap time and this is crucial in terms of his World Championship

hopes of course as well. He's gone fastest, fastest of all, Felipe

Massa. Felipe Massa did an amazing lap, one of the best I've seen him

do. He is in the middle sector. He is off the front row entirely.

Really an emotional day is, for me, for Williams. And Williams have not

only got a pole position, they've got the entire front row! This is

unbelievable! Everyone is in a bit of shock still but it is so amazing.

A great lap, a great lap. This is where we want to be, doing this

every race. Very happy, I was missing this place. Oh, David, what

a day it was yesterday. Everyone was popping and fizzing, so excited. It

was incredible to see and people have such a lot of love for

Williams, haven't they? Absolutely, they have had a rough time of late.

They got a winner couple of years ago but it seemed a flash in the

pan. They have been looking good this season. They have

underdelivered somewhat with the results but they are set up for a

chance of winning this Grand Prix. We will get some more Internet now.

Let's talk to Rob Smedley, who has a personal history with Felipe Massa.

Yesterday, you must have been really proud. He seemed to put it together,

didn't he? He did, he did a great lap, especially his middle sector

which was stunning. It was like the old days watching that. The first

sector was a bit iffy, we talked about it afterwards. The second

sector, when you saw that come through, I thought, that is a fairly

good sector. I knew he would be on for pole with that. This team has a

winning history, you have a quick car, a quick car and a driver that

can win. What can trip you up today, if anything? We have to bear in mind

that the Mercedes did not exploit fully their car yesterday. I think

they will have a very quick car today, even with Lewis back where he

is. I think he will cut through the field and causes some problems. Nico

Rosberg is starting just behind with a cook the car. We have to be

mindful of that. What else can trip us up? Lots of things, the list is

endless. You guys were fast through the speed trap yesterday. Will the

boys be going out and driving defensively? Or will this be an

attacking race to get out there and stay at the front? If you look at

the key points of the race strategy, it has got to be to try to pull a

gap in the first sting. If we can pull a gap in that, to the people

behind us, or at least the people we are fighting within the

championship, it will make our lives easier. They have got to go for it

but they have to look after the tyres. It is never easy. What is the

difference between a privateer team and work team, like Ferrari? We are

smaller. We have to spend money much more efficiently. There is no doubt

about that. We have less people. But the way that the team is organised,

or is being organised, is very efficient. It is not with 20% less

people we are doing 20% less of the work. In fact, we are probably doing

a similar amount of work. There is less money to spend.

lock-out front row of the grid for the first time in Germany -- for the

first time since Germany, in 2003. Let's look at how they line up.

Behind the Williams, Nico Rosberg heads the second row alongside

Fernando Alonso comer who equalled his best qualifying performance this

year. Daniel Ricciardo has outqualified Sebastian Vettel for

the sixth time. Kevin Magnussen looks to be back in six. Daniil

Kvyat putted Toro Rosso in seventh spot with Kimi Raikkonen alongside.

Lewis Hamilton is in ninth after not registering a viable lap yesterday.

The Force India of Nico Hulkenberg rounds out the top ten. Jenson

Button's troubled McLaren will start 11, Sebastian Vettel 12, from the

dirty side of the grid. Pasta and Albert outqualified Romain Grosjean

for the first time, going from 13th. Perez starts in 15th after a grid

penalty for causing a collision in Canada. He is ahead of the Sauber

is, the Caterhams and Max Chilton has a penalty and Romain Grosjean

drops five places from 15th, a penalty for changing a gearbox

overnight. He has elected to start from the pit lane. So a few drivers

out of position, which always makes for fascinating viewing. This is a

cheeky little track that can bite back. It is. It is the same distance

as Canada but about 15 seconds quicker because there are eight

usable corners. Elevation change, blind corners, it leads to drivers

having difficulty and expect a few mistakes. There were drivers caught

out in qualifying, especially around turn eight. It is a blind entry in

fast corner. Lewis Hamilton running wide with to us. Pretty much every

team and driver had a little excursion. It is because they have

to commit to the corner with such speed. There is a rare mistake but

not as bad as Alonso there. How do you stop that happening? They need

to make sure they don't gain an advantage from it but because it is

a high-speed corner they haven't put down a curb, like you see on the

exit of turn one. They have to tell the drivers they will be punished if

they gain an advantage. Lewis has qualified in ninth position. He did

not get a viable lap in. We saw him on turn eight and this happened.

This is turn two, the highest point. He said there was nothing

amiss with the car but what I find difficult to understand, straight

line breaking, uphill, breaking from 200 miles an hour which gets you

attention but it gets you -- it is unusual to see a driver lose in a

straight line. Right on the limit of his Wright balance and recovery

system as he hit the brakes. That leads him with so much to do,

knowing he has that deficit in the championship. A lot of pressure on

his shoulders. The pressure was there when he went into qualifying.

He made a mistake on his first run, we had one run to get the pole

auntie locked up. Visibly he is looking quite calm and collected but

he is making mistakes. If he doesn't do well here, it will have a

long-term cause. He is slipping behind his team-mate. We will not

see them win all the races, that has been neutralised with what happened

with Daniel Ricciardo Canada. Williams are in a good position.

Mercedes, it is a tough battle between them but Lewis is slipping

behind. Let's have a look at how they line up in the standings. Lewis

now has to make up a 22 point deficit on Nico Rosberg to draw

level. Daniel Ricciardo leads the Red Bull charging third. His

team-mate is 19 points away in fifth, with Fernando Alonso in

between. Bottas and Massa are eighth and 11th respectively. Frank

Williams' team holds six spot on the constructors table, eight points

away from McLaren. At the sharp end, Mercedes is conducting proceedings

with a healthy 119 point gap over current champions Red Bull. As ever,

strategy will play a huge part. It is a 71 lap battle. One of -- what

the team is saying? There are two main concerns, fuel consumption is

not going to be as marginal here as it was in Montreal. It is still

going to need careful management from the pit and by the drivers. And

of course tyres. We have the same tyre compounds as Canada. It will be

difficult to make one stop work. Several drivers tried in Montreal

but we have faster corners here, particularly in the second half of

the lap. I am expecting the front runners to go for two stops, lap 12

and around lap 40, but if there is a safety car the battle changes. We

have had safety car periods in the last four Grand Prix Final anything

can happen. Of course, this is Formula one after all! The cars are

in position, the drivers are on the grid and so are David and Lee.

A new ground for you, are you feeling chilled ahead of this? Yes,

a great day yesterday, feeling chilled ahead of this? Yes,

do a good job today. It will be difficult. A strong Mercedes behind

but we will do the best we can. Any words of encouragement for your son?

Yes, I hope we do have everything ready for the race. Good luck.

You are running back to P2, a great feeling, but the battle starts. What

are the chances for today? It starts, there is no point for our

result yesterday. We have good chances to get on the podium, for

the win. I don't know yet, it will be difficult but we will do our best

to take the Mercedes cars behind us as long as possible. I hope you are

Daniil Kvyat, you are feeling relaxed? Yes, it was good qualifying

but the races today. We do our best. We try to beat the guys that start

in front of us and then we see where we are. What are you expecting the

strategist to be? There is different strategies but I think there is not

too many options and I think we have to monitor the situation really

well. Lewis Hamilton has it all today.

What about the boys in front, team Williams? Can make it the rest of

the field behind them, that is the question.

The last time Williams started from pole position in Austria it went on

to win, in the hands of Jacques Villeneuve, 17 years ago. Today

Felipe Massa leads the formation lap for the first time in nearly six

years, and the Mercedes cars start down in third place. Hamilton is

for him today. Let's get a bit of an update from the pit lane. We have

seen most of the frontrunners are starting on the super soft tyre but

Jenson Button has chosen to go for the harder tyre.

other time during this weekend could Jenson Button sit out there for up

to 30 laps, be sitting pretty, then bang on the super soft tyre for a

They might be behind McLaren at the moment but they have got two cars at

and Hamilton. Rosberg coming into this race with a 22 point advantage

over his Lewis Hamilton, and an opportunity to further extend that

need today. It is a tight circuit. The first quarter will be demanding

as they climb up the hill. Will they all get round safely? We

have also seen problems at ten two, there have been some fairly

spectacular accidents. It is very easy for the pole man

going into turn to to make a mistake and run into the guy in second.

The test and Fulham and driver for Williams, he won the GPT race

yesterday. -- GP two race. Claire Williams is the deputy team

principal. What an opportunity for the team. They are aware Sadie is

potentially still have a faster car. Mercedes didn't really deliver what

they could have done yesterday, Lewis Hamilton.

Nico is reporting a lot of oversteer and Hamilton confirmed that.

It could have been a brake balance issue yesterday. Let's see what

happens in the Austrian Grand Prix for top --. Lights out, away we go.

Felipe Massa getting away well, and excellent start from Nico Rosberg,

up into second place ahead of Bottas. Ricciardo gets squeezed out

wide. That might have been with Magnussen. He went over that kerb,

he is under pressure from the Toro Rosso. Hamilton has made a great

start. A fantastic start, in fifth place already. He is charging his

way up from the ninth on the grid. Hamilton now tucking in behind the

Ferrari of Fernando Alonso. We ride on board the Toro Rosso of Daniil

Kvyat and Hulkenberg has gone ahead of him. Bottas has got the place

back from Rosberg. Kvyat took that opportunity, got past the forced

India. -- the Force India. What a good getaway. Hamilton is having a

go. He goes straight through, doesn't one white on the exit.

Fantastic overtake, one of the most difficult corners on this track,

going on the inside and cited. Alonso decides not to fight it.

Hamilton is one position behind Nico Rosberg, would you believe that?

They started third and ninth. Nico must be looking in his mirrors

thinking, how did he do that? Sergio Perez on the move, 11th place

already. Attacking Daniel Kvyat. Problems for Sebastian Vettel. It is

turning into a miserable weekend for him. A couple of non-finishes this

year. I lost drive, tell me what to do. Switch off, by the look of it.

It looks like it is all over again. He went out of the Monaco Grand Prix

before Canada, went at the straining Grand Prix. His miserable season

continues, dropping down to the tail of the field. Up front it is Massa

who leads for Williams from Bottas in second race, Rosberg in third,

Hamilton in fourth. Beginning to close upon his team-mate already for

the Alonso is in fifth, Magnussen six, Raikkonen seventh, Hulkenberg

in eighth, Sebastian Vettel is coasting, there is nothing they can

do to help them. Hands in despair. Doesn't look like he is India. -- in

gear. It looks as though his race is run

already and we are only just into this race. The two Williams out in

front, then to Mercedes. Rosberg and Hamilton, Kevin Magnussen in sixth

position. There is Sebastian Vettel abandoning his car. He has got it

going it is a reset. He has now got some pace and Sunday. Of course he

will have to let everybody through. He has managed to stop the car, put

it through a reset. The Toro Rosso going off the circuit. Difficult to

see it what was going on for stop --. Ricciardo is busy in the group

chasing down Hulkenberg. He is just in front of Paris, ended up losing

out. Definitely lost some places, so we will keep an eye on Daniel

Ricciardo as we continue round. For some reason I have got drive again.

Suddenly is working for Sebastian Vettel. Let's look at Felipe

Massa's start. Hamilton as well got fantastic drive up through the

middle. He was able to get a good position as Daniel Ricciardo gets

pushed out over the yellow kerb, Hamilton just hanging back, getting

a great drive up into turn to. Gutierrez at the start of the Grand

Prix exploiting that power of the Mercedes. Having a think about

Fernando Alonso who gets in space. That is how he was slow on the next

run down to turn three. There is Hamilton blasting past Kvyat. He did

not get a launched at all well. Fairly even between Williams and

Mercedes, all have the same power unit. That is right. Great 's start

from Massa, gave him some clean air. Williams exploiting that increased

top speed that they have on the car. We saw it in Canada as well. They

are somehow managing to get a balance well not running a great

deal of drug. Normally downforce equals drag. The DRS now enabled,

and the straight and also on the top straight between tens two and

three. Locale closer Hamilton is to the back of Nico Rosberg stop this

will be at medallist tussle between the two Williams team-mate and

Mercedes team-mates. Go racing, Sebastian. He is last. Do not press

overtake at all. I haven't. Understood. Do not visit for the

rest of the race. That is worrying for them. We think the failure was

to do with the use of the overtake Button. That is presumably why they

were telling Daniel Ricciardo to steer clear of it at all costs.

Where does it bring him out? Towards the back of the field. Kobayashi is

leading the Marussia Caterham struggle goes on we can, we. He is

currently 16th, Yankee 17th. He is holding off the likes of

Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez. Perez is on the better time. Those

yellow marked soft tyres should be the ones to be on.

They have got a much better expected life. In terms of to stop racing

this afternoon, Raikkonen was released. Magnussen has comment.

Several coming in. Magnussen, Kvyat and Ricciardo all coming in on the

same lap. This is to stop territory, a little bit earlier than what would

be ideal, but you have just a little bit earlier than what would

react to what the tyres are giving you.

I love leased by Ricciardo, it will be close as he goes out -- a lovely

start. Tight at the top of the pit lane, only room for one car. Kvyat

just got out in front, that must have been very close. The Red Bull

pit stop was quicker than the Toro Rosso's. Hulkenberg has already made

a pit stop. These guys are racing hard, still Sebastian Vettel behind

this group. Sebastian Vettel had the problem earlier on. Still right at

the back of the field. We have still got all 22 cars running on 12 out of

71. We have had forecast already gone

wide. Rosberg in, a crucial start for

Rosberg. He gets first call, the first stop. 2.6 seconds, his in and

Hamilton has just in a personal best in the third sector. Hamilton knows

how important it is that his next lap is one of his very best. Nico

will get the advantage of the slipstream from the McLaren. Looking

for absolutely everything. Let's see what happened to Ricciardo

as Kvyat came out. It was close. Questionable about

whether the car was released. There are markers on the big wall which

give the team managers and those responsible for releasing a car

whether it is safe to do so. That was right on the limit.

That was marginal, I wonder if the stewards will take a look at that.

He lost a bit of time, Rosberg is coming up the straight, who will get

it? We have got this little group. Alonso, Raikkonen behind that, let's

see where Lewis Hamilton comes out. Relative to his team-mate. He has

gone through already. Rosberg is still in front, though one second

loss in the pit stop plus being out there on the tyres that went at

their best hope to him but he is still only behind Rosberg, no cars

between them, an opportunity to close at.

the lead of the Grand Prix. They have managed to go reasonably far

into the race. Let's see what happened to Rosberg moments ago. He

was behind the McLaren. It was Button not having stopped on the

softer tyres. The wheel wasn't attached. Right-hand rear wheel. The

green light was on. Somebody has given the driver the message it is

fine to go. Felipe Massa in, that was Valtteri

Bottas into the lead of the Grand Prix. Williams' stops have been a

bit erratic. It seemed to go without H. C Wade comes up relative to the

Mercedes, he will be passed by Rosberg, will you be that Hamilton?

He comes up between 50 Mercedes will stop me has lost position to

Rosberg, Crusoe loss. He is still in front of Lewis Hamilton. Knowing

that Felipe Massa is trying to get to grips with the new tyres. Massa

sensibly saw the Mercedes coming back at him but Hamilton defence.

try to get through that as quickly as possible. These guys have not

been in the pits yet. They are raising into position. Gets past

Raikkonen. The next one to get past is Perez in the Force India. Errors

going deep into this race on the tyres he started on, the soft

tyres. Here is Hamilton trying to get past Raikkonen. Hamilton could

be heading into the pits, he moves over to the right and is coming into

the pit lane. Williams got a bit held up. Massa lost time as the

Ferrari had to go slow through the apex to make the pit lane. Where is

Bottas coming out? A much quicker stop, a fabulous stop. Where is

Bottas going to come out in that little group? With his team-mate. He

has come out in front of his team-mate, behind Rosberg. Rosberg

is the winner. But Lewis Hamilton, he did it on Massa last time, oh,

Bottas has gone too deep and might get him on the exit of the corner.

Bottas has probably been told by his engineer watch out for Hamilton on

the inside and he braked too late. Hamilton hasn't quite got the run on

him here. Great stuff. It is indeed. Meanwhile, Perez, the man that seems

to make his rubber go further than anyone else, leading this Grand

Prix. That is right, he is in front, Sergio Perez, the man who crashed

with Felipe Massa at the last Grand Prix. He has Nico Rosberg behind

him, Bottas running in third place, Hamilton in fourth position and the

incident involving the Sauber of Gutierrez under investigation for

unsafe release. We know the stewards are very tough on that. They do

stamp their authority were many mistakes like that, for releasing a

car. I am sure there will be penalties applied, not just here

this weekend but potentially in the next Grand Prix as well. There is

going to be a ten second stop-go penalty for Esteban Gutierrez for

this unsafe release. It is a strict penalty when it happens. Especially

when it comes to not being attached. I remember Mark Webber hit a

cameraman and you can see here, he did react to the light. It looks

like the gun got dropped. The wheel was not attached properly. The

driver looks, it is green, so whoever controls that little

Scalextric type switch got a little bit nervous. So, upfront, Perez

holding on but Hamilton getting a little closer to the back of

Valtteri Bottas. The Finn is driving the Williams and in his second full

year of Formula one, up against the man who was the 2008 world champion.

Rosberg is getting a look and Hamilton having a think about it at

turn two. That is where he passed Massa when Massa made his pit stop.

What is impressive in that Mercedes is what an early apex he is able to

use at turn two, which shows the power of the botanical group that

Mercedes has that low speeds. Locks up at the circuit drops into turn

three. You can see the advantage the Williams has on acceleration. Less

drag on that car, so it accelerates backoff -- it accelerates better of

the turns. Have a few stabs that overtake but use it wisely, we are

not safe. Uses more fuel. overtake but use it wisely, we are

right, they have had no overtake but use it wisely, we are

behind a safety car to save fuel. Although the research should be

manageable, it depends on how much coasting they have to do through the

corners. When Formula one was last here in 2003, the cars were running

176 kilograms is of fuel for the same race distance. Now, they are

using 100, or maybe less. The development is incredible. It stands

Formula one apart from the rear of -- other racing series. Sebastian

Vettel, the problem he sorted and reset but he is absolutely last in

this Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Hulkenberg Intel's place, trying to

get Pastor Maldonado in the load tests. -- in 10th place. Pastor

Maldonado in the Lotus. Alonso put in a quick final sector on that

lap, still running down in seventh place. Tom, what have you got for

us? Sebastian Vettel has 49 laps to do. I think it will be a huge

achievement to get to the end of the race with so many laps to go.

Hulkenberg in the last race when we had the same tyre compound is

managed 41 laps on the soft tyre in Canada and that included a safety

car period. It will be a big ask. We have faster corners which works with

tyres harder. If you can do it, it will be impressive. Kvyat is off. A

puncture, maybe, on the left -- on the left rear. He has shredded right

rear. He is trying to limp back. What a shame, he has been driving

beautifully this weekend. In both qualifying, and holding his own in

the race. That is turn five, I believe. Alonso is quick in the

final sector. The whole wheel is coming off, so there may have been

contacts. The wheel and suspension is ripped off. Has there been a

hit? He over eggs. The right weird -- the right rear disc has imploded.

For the Austrian team boss, not a good Austrian Grand Prix. The chief

technical man alongside him at Toro Rosso, disappointing. At is the

third consecutive race that Daniel Kidd Gatt has not finished. They

were feeling encouraged this weekend -- that Daniil Kvyat has not

finished. He is really beginning to put Sergio Perez under some

pressure. In the background, Bottas and Hamilton. The tyres must be

really struggling. This is an opportunity for Rosberg. Rosberg has

a look at the inside, straightforward, yes, Perez gives

them space but he loses Mantom. That gives the opportunity for Valtteri

Bottas to sweep past in the Williams. Perez loses two places in

one. The team are encouraging Perez not to lose time in fighting with

his opposition. Drive his own race. They want a decent

his opposition. Drive his own race. here. Hamilton trying to squeeze

past in an area which is more difficult. It is. It was almost like

Rosberg was having a look and decided, maybe not, I'll try down

the next straight and then Perez left so much space. Rosberg would

release the brake and allow the Carter role in there. He has made

the move stick. Here comes Hamilton. He waits, he is not in that much of

a hurry. He knows Rosberg is only a couple of places further up the

road. He is very much in touch with Nico Rosberg, who is the race

leader. He has set a new fastest lap, despite the overtaking

manoeuvre he had to put off. He has suddenly gone quicker, Rosberg. We

are beginning to see the real, raw pace that Mercedes have here. Jenson

Button is in the pit. Here comes Lewis Hamilton on Sergio Perez,

surely he will out-brake him in to turn two. Perez gives him plenty of

space, no moving on the line. The next car coming up behind Sergio

Perez is Felipe Massa and last time they got this close on track it all

went horribly wrong, in Canada. It did. They agreed to disagree on

that. Force India were still arguing the point when they came to this

Grand Prix but FIA decided to uphold the decision of Canada.

Interestingly, the stewards will take a more lenient view on any

incident from now on. They have decided that unless it is at least

75% clear in their minds that one driver has caused the collision, and

avoidable collision, they will put it down as a racing incident. Also

just under turn eight, Grosjean has been off five or six times and

because they don't appear to see he has gained any sort of lap time

advantage they are letting it go. A slightly more relaxed approach.

Felipe Massa was saying earlier this week, he was asked what he would do

when he came up behind Perez, will you think twice? You said, I won't

think twice about overtaking, I'll think three times before making a

move. Hamilton has set a new fastest lap. We take a look at how the move

was made by Nico Rosberg, initially. It was very hesitant.

him and in doing so that cost him time. This is Kvyat coming out of

turn two. I believe that he went off the circuit, into the gravel at turn

five. He does not successfully get through three without issue. He has

already had the issue before breaking into turn three. So

whatever that failure was on the straight, he was not on the brake at

that point macro, so he is complaining of no brakes, the main

reason is he has got no right rear corner so you lose a braking system

across the rear axle. Lets see how Lewis Hamilton executed the path up

at turn two. -- executed the path. He waited for Perez to hit the

brakes. Very soon thereafter he hits the brakes as Perez has come in.

Sergio Perez has managed 13 laps on the harder tyre, the soft tyres, I

wonder if he will have another set of those all the super soft, no, he

has gone for another set of a harder tyres. He will have

has gone for another set of a harder make. That is his first stop. Red

Bull are getting ready. See what happens here. Has there been a

problem for Vettel? Trying to come up through the field, of course.

This is upfront, the battle going on. Rosberg being hounded by

Bottas, with Hamilton not far behind. Bottas really attacking for

the race lead here. And Williams are not giving up and just handing it

all over to Mercedes at all, are they? This is racy stuff from

Bottas. Indeed, we have heard Hamilton saying, I need some help to

get past the car in front and his engineers saying, we're looking at

it. I can only imagine he is looking for feedback on the balance of the

car, or pushing them to allow more push to pass. Rosberg seems to have

fended off. I wonder if there was a mistake from Rosberg that we did not

see on that lap, because certainly Bottas, the first sector was slow

from Rosberg. I think you might have made a mistake on the last lap

somewhere. It allowed Bottas to close upon him and he has now

survived that. It is Hamilton's problem to get past Williams. The

Williams is a fast car in a straight line. Massa has dropped back a bit

from this battle, 2.7 seconds behind Hamilton. His last lap, around 13.9.

That is quicker than the three cars in front. Rosberg is giving away

three tends to the guys behind him. I wonder if he has some sort of

problem here. It is not running as we would expect. A little bit is DRS

but that does not explain the big offset we are seeing. Rosberg ahead

looks slow, Rosberg looks slow. He is definitely in trouble, I think.

Rosberg is fighting some sort of problem with that car. Look how fast

he is in the middle. In that sector you are not using as much of the

recoverable energy. In the first sector, which includes up to two and

three, that is way to make full use of the recharged energy. Is he

having difficulty getting the full recharge on the lap? Look how he is

being caught here. The next straight, we really saw it last lap

around. 1.14.3, not as quick as he was going a few moments ago. Alonso

is the fastest car on track, strangely, in fifth place. Rosberg

is snaking a bit there. You see Hamilton cuts over the kerb. Rosberg

was missing it. Whether you are right, he is conscious he has an

issue in this sector and he is trying to push it on the brakes.

Perez has rejoined on his new tyres. In eighth place now. Going quickly,

he has set a new fastest lap on the new tyres. He has less weight in the

car now than the others when they had new tyres on. Perez is a couple

of seconds behind his team-mate. That was the previous lap that we

haven't seen. At turn one. He has gone beyond the yellow curb. This is

what we saw with Vettel, gone outside turn three, did he get

pushed off the circuit? No, there is an issue. You can see the contacts

with the win, the Red Line flashing on -- you can see the red light

flashing on the back of the Sauber, they are not in a period of

releasing of the recoverable energy and that has caught out Sebastian

Vettel. He hasn't realised the car will slow when his acceleration

between turn three and four. It is not an obligation to run the

flashing light. Most teams do do so to give the drivers warning.

Sebastian, we're going to return the car. -- retire the car. Vettel is

heading into the pits now and it has been a miserable weekend for the bus

to that. It is not going that much better for Daniel Ricciardo, in

ninth place, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. And for the team whose

owner owns both the team and the track, well, the combination has not

gone well here. It is sods law, I suppose, but it has not been a

particularly enjoyable season for Sebastian Vettel. The last four

years have been a blur of winning and Championships. He has been

frustrated with his new formula. He has been very unlucky with the

reliability on his side of the car. On his side of the garage, excuse

me. It is better to have the bad luck now. Hulkenberg has been told

to let Perez go. Let's see if we did. We are looking at the replay,

he did indeed get out of the way of Sergio Perez because Perez is on a

different strategy. They both will be raising at the end of the Grand

Prix but it is not the time to start fighting each other, too early in

the race. Start to close the gap down.

How much have they all been biding their time, looking after breaks and

tyres? That is reassuring. I was getting a

bit worried. He is three seconds behind Hamilton. It looked like he

was getting into difficulty. Clearly they are managing the, giving him

the opportunity to go of it further that might go a bit further.

MIB Helton coming in. Lewis Hamilton gets the first stop. They are trying

to jump the Williams, of course. They have brought Hamilton in first.

They want to get him in front of Valtteri Bottas. He was getting

stuck, held up behind the Williams. Away goes Lewis Hamilton, a four

second was a bit slow. The reason why Buddhism but Rosberg

and any pressure was because it was about second seconds last lap

around. He gets out in front of the McLaren.

He wouldn't have wanted to get stuck the ad Magnussen and errors.

Perez right on the gearbox. Magnussen will be heading for a pit

stop relatively soon. Perez has to make the most of this section of the

race. Box, box, box. Rosberg now will be coming into the pits. A bit

of lock up there from Kevin Magnussen. Definitely one of the

best races of the season we have seen, their brilliant podium finish

to start the year. A couple of nice place finishes. Income is Nico

Rosberg to the pits, will he get back out in front of his team-mate?

We are waiting to see what Bottas does. Not a great stop from CDs.

They are usually up there with the very fastest. Ericsson in front of

Hamilton. He has maintained that gap to his team-mate. It has slightly"

that has worked well for Nico Rosberg.

Lewis Hamilton has had great pace all we can. They are on the same

strategy, the same tyres, it will be erased to the finish. Plenty of time

therefore Hamilton. 30 laps to go. The two cars will presumably be

racing for victory to the end, unless Mercedes are still nervous

about some of the reliability issues they had in Canada. Heat coming at

the break ducks. -- ducts. Perez has to go wide, the car was heading to

the pits. They have to come inside the white line before they can go

through the turn eight corner. Valtteri Bottas, the Williams has

been in front of Hamilton, but Hamilton is flying at the moment.

Hamilton is lighting up the timing screens, fastest in the first and

second sectors. I do think there will be much chance for Bottas to

come out in front of Hamilton. You can see from the graphic in the

bottom right of the screen. So quick, Lewis Hamilton on the last

lap. Hamilton is way in front of Valtteri Bottas as he rejoined. A

mega lap from Lewis Hamilton, that has put comfortably ahead of the

Williams he been chasing for many laps. Looks as though Felipe Massa

will be coming into the pits on this lap for Williams. Alonso has just

done 1:13 .4. Encouraging signs for Ferrari. Let's hope this is a nice,

tidy start. He does look as though Bottas has

ended up with the advantage in the race over his team-mate. Williams

for a good haul points. Look out for Perez. He has gone through.

Perez on this different strategy, he will have two stop again. A real

opportunity for Williams to close and perhaps ask Force India in the

Constructors' Championship here today, if they can hold onto a third

fourth place finish for Bottas and Massa, still a vital race, even if

they cannot match the two Mercedes upfront. Alonso is the race leader.

We haven't seen him lead a race for a long time. Mercedes led all the

races are to Canada, then we thought Felipe Massa and Daniel Riccardo

become new lap leaders. And Fernando Alonso leads a Grand Prix in 2014

for top bricks are OK, yes? Breaks are under control. Safe at

the moment, keep managing them. Hamilton is 1.6 seconds behind his

team-mate. He will be just thinking Hamilton is 1.6 seconds behind his

about how he will go on the attack. We could be in for a real humdinger

of a race in the closing stages. A couple of seconds quicker than his

team-mate last time around will stop at the gap down to 1.5 seconds. Keep

chipping away at it as Raikkonen heads to the pits. Ericsson ahead of

him indicator. Raikkonen on for some points, but his best result has been

a seventh place finish. Disappointing year for the world

champion of 2007. Felipe Massa has just gone very quickly in the first

sector, those news tyres are working on the Williams. They are

consistently the best in the pits, not in terms of always having the

fastest but across the season they deliver the best pit stops. Another

very efficient stop by the Italian team.

Alonso into the pits as the boss watches from the pit wall. Let's see

where this brings him out. It will bring him out behind Massa. He will

be three the first time. Let's see how close, verities, on the

right-hand side you just him. It is quite an appreciable gap between

Williams and Ferrari. Alonso rejoins, that brings him out in

sixth position, and Perez is the one out there who is slightly out of

order, if you like. Effectively Alonso is in fifth place. It is hard

to see him going any further than that, further up the order. Unless

there are in liability factors will stop out of this race to have

retired so far. Daniil Kvyat out, and after a very difficult day

Sebastian Vettel. There was a problem at the front

wing, you lost drug, what did you retire for?

-- lost a drag. Exhausted. We stopped because we wanted to sister

mileage. We were hoping for the safety car but it wasn't coming.

Pretty pointless to go around a lap down.

You might not have expected to win every race but usually expected to

seek chequered flags, how difficult is that to deal with?

It is part of the game, I guess. It has been a bad first half of the

season with lots of retirements. Many more problems. But I guess it

is part of the game. Equally able to learn a lot. For the rest of the

race, I have my team me gets to move up a little bit more.

Upfront Rosberg leads, they pick their way through the battle.

Hamilton was asking on the radio whether Nico Rosberg had problems

with his brakes. I think they have been told they are both in the same

situation. He has indeed. Further rate

problems, that is what put him out in Canada. Some little burning

flames, Robert in the front brake disc. He has

flames, Robert in the front brake slightly. Last time around he was

three tenths slower than Rosberg. Trying to manage the gap, keep

everything cool. He will want to try and challenge to win this Grand

Prix. and challenge

We are on board with Felipe Massa. He has been told to look after the

rear tyres. We need them at the end to protect from Alonso. They are

worried about Fernando Alonso who has been going quite quickly on a

new set of tyres. Much pressure tyres for him. They will be in

really good show. Massa locked up like that on his qualifying

yesterday. Alonso's tyres five laps younger. We

have got 20 lap is still to go. A lot of thinking going on. They are

trying to look after the equipment, the tyres, the brakes, and we have

had no safety car, that means that fuel consumption has been at its

maximum and some of them will be having to try and save fuel. Rosberg

continues to lead, the 1.5 seconds. A bit of cloud overhead. Still good

conditions for this return to Austria on a truck that was last

used in 2003, but a venue that has a great history of Formula One going

back to 1970 where the original circuit was one of the most testing

tracks in Formula One and a real favourite. We are racing, but,

winning two tenths Palau. -- Pella.

Give me more power. Don't expect me to drive quicker. Kimi Raikonnen is

in 11th place. That was David Lloyd on the radio who has just joined as

an engineer for Kimi Raikonnen, returning

an engineer for Kimi Raikonnen, for Ferrari for many years. Fairly

straightforward answer. Felipe Massa is still responding to that request

from the team to watch out for Alonso because he has done a good

first sector. The gap between Massa and Alonso, now he has made his pit

stop is 3.7 seconds. Alonso taking a bit of time. He is going quicker

than matter. The Ferrari is definitely catching up to the

Williams slightly. We know how relentless Fernando Alonso is. It is

what he is famous for, really. Matter is they held up by Perez. --

Masur is being held up. I don't think Alonso is going to have enough

straight-line speed to get past that Williams. It is never nice to see

your mirrors filled with any car catching you.

Perez has been told after the pit stop if all goes to plan and that

this top is clean you will come out in front of his team-mate, Nico

Hulkenberg. That will be fun to watch, the two team-mates. Perez

will have a better diet for a few laps, and then it will gradually

deteriorate. Is he coming in? They have managed to go deep into the

race before putting the super-soft tyres on. He could be able to make

them last quite a percentage to the end of the race. That will have cost

Massa sometime. Look at his lap time.

They are aiming to bring about a flood of Hulkenberg and Ricciardo

who are on the penultimate corner. It should be relatively

straightforward. Three seconds top is enough for Perez. He will emerge

in front of Hulkenberg and Ricciardo. He comes out in a place

will stop Hulkenberg still in ninth, Ricciardo in the final points

position. It was close. There could have been

a bit of It was close. There could have been

a pressure for Perez. He has had the edge over Hulkenberg

in the last two races but Perez ended up crashing out with Massa.

They have had different strategies was that maybe the strategy for

Perez has been the better one, because they have decided to go. It

almost seems to be a disadvantage to go into the top ten because you're

forced to start on the super-soft tyres if that is what you used in

Q2. Those outside the Doctor have the option to go for the other

tyres. The only one stop in the top ten is

Jenson Button. Good lap times. That was a big moment, let's have

another look. If you're not up with the

frontrunners they say do something spectacular to get yourself some TV

time. A lot of brake dust coming from

Jean-Eric Vergne's car. It seems blown on the left-hand side.

Hamilton has been told the brakes: The limit. -- the brakes are on the

engine going down the pit straight, had a look at the GPS, it was that

Massa, Gutierrez, Alonso gaggle. I think it is Gutierrez.

We will keep a man that. But here is running fast at the moment. The

other Sauber of Sutil running in 14th position. Another team boss

with Austrian citizenship, born in India but grew up in Vienna and took

Austrian so ship. -- citizenship. Jenson Button is in the pits at the

moment. The final pit stop for the British driver in the McLaren. His

team-mate running in a pretty solid sixth place. A good stop. We go on

board with Felipe Massa and Massa is free of Sergio Perez now. But his

gap over Alonso is only two microseconds. Here's three seconds

behind his team-mate, Bottas. A tensor two on the last lap. But

crucially, Alonso, half a second quicker. Listen to where he is

changing gear. He is changing up early on the previous corner.

Doesn't sound particularly impressive. Almost sounds like he's

having to do some fuel saving. Sounds like a diesel generator! He

is using very low revs. It must be a fuel saving thing, but he's changing

up really early. They are normally changing around the 11,000 revs mark

but it sounded as though he was changing up earlier than that on

this occasion. Alonso quicker than him, gained three tenths of a

second. Alonso, as ever, is just amazing, watching him when he has

any kind of opportunity. It doesn't matter what position he is running

in, Alonso is always giving ten out of ten. He is relentless, like a

character where everything is hacked off and he says, Vermont on -- it is

only a flesh wound! Massa locking up into turn three. You can see

only a flesh wound! Massa locking up hard Felipe Massa is pushing. Up

front, Bottas still in third in the other Williams. But he has an

advantage over these guys of about 3.5 seconds. Bottas just staying out

of trouble, not close enough to challenge the Mercedes but a little

ahead of these. That is Vergne with the brake dust. I think he is in

trouble. Yes, you would not be breaking running along into turn

eight. So retiring the car. May have had a poor run of reliability, Toro

Rosso. Vergne himself has had a string of non-finishes this season.

The brakes are gone. Four non-finishes and now the brakes are

gone on the car. I doubt there is anything they can do about that.

They are waving him into the pit garage. It is all over for Jean-Eric

Vergne and both of the Toro Rossos sadly are out of the Grand Prix. On

board with Perez. How hard is it for Kevin Magnussen to hold it on the

road at the moment? You can see how the engine is blind. They power down

the hill, drop into the short apex at turn nine. Somebody has dipped a

wheel on the dust. You can see the dust getting thrown out, in the back

of Hulkenberg. This will be his opportunity, Magnussen has made a

mistake. An opportunity for Perez, who moves to the outside. Magnussen

goes defensive on the inside but a greater speed advantage for Perez.

He is on the super soft tyre, giving him excellent grip, and Perez takes

full advantage of that. One tiny error from Kevin Magnussen in a car

with the tyres now reaching the end of their life, if you like, and

Perez is upon it and moves into sixth position. A good drive from

Sergio Perez. Let's take another look at that. It locked up, it

comprises his ability to get the throttle open, that is why the pass

was made so early. Magnussen, very fair, made it clear he was going to

defend the inside. Interesting that Perez' line seems to be wide through

two. It is out. Pull clear with the DRS and we will bring this home.

Points for Force India on a day where Williams is looking to score,

it is crucial that Perez is up there in sixth place as they try to defend

fourth-place in the Constructors' Championship. The constructors

leaders by a huge margin Mercedes. What will happen in this

confrontation between Rosberg on Hamilton? Is Hamilton really going

to throw everything at it in these last few laps? He has been

consistently quicker. They are both managing the brakes. He has got to

take a big risk if he wants to make this work. They are matching the lap

time of each other in the middle sector. It is one thing getting up

on the gearbox of Rosberg, but the heat that will put into the brakes

as he loses cooling, he risks a situation like Canada. Is it a case

of you lose further ground to Rosberg finishing second? Is it a

case of cutting your losses? You started imposition nine. The target

would of been to try to win the race, but second is not a bad result

considering what about qualifying he had. That is right but the

championship lead will be extended by Nico Rosberg if the positions

finish as they are now. Rosberg will be on 165 points, Hamilton on 136

points. 29 points the advantage. It could change of Hamilton could get

into front, then he would start to close the gap again. A lot going

through Lewis Hamilton's mind as he runs flat out to chase his

team-mate. Bottas, who would also score very well. Fernando Alonso

would also having opportunity to close up to Daniel Ricciardo in what

is third in the championship. Remember the message of earlier to

Lewis Hamilton from his race engineer telling him your tyres were

better at the start of Rosberg, so it may be an advantage at the end of

the race. Four laps remaining, strap six to the end. Meanwhile Rosberg

has been told, remember, slower in for faster exits generally. The old

racing driver mantra of slow in, fast out, and it seems to be working

with these hybrid cars because just getting the cars into the corner and

getting on the power as early as possible as delivering the lap

time. Very similar lap times again, that time around. Just less than one

tenth between them. So 1.3 seconds the gap, less than three laps to go

in the Austrian Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg started third, managed to

work his way to the front. Nico, stay in strap six, both cars will

stay in strap six to the end. Whether that is a function or

whether that means hold station, who knows. But it is what it is.

Hamilton has recovered from a poor qualifying. He was ninth on the

grid. A great first lap, good strategy in the race. He has driven

cleverly sensibly, making moves when it counted. Maybe he is going to

happen to a second -- to settle for second place. The British Grand Prix

in a couple of weeks' time, a track he adores. He should have won last

year but had a tyre failure. How much he would like to take revenge

on a couple of weeks and be able to come out on top of his team-mate.

Two laps to go and it does not look as though we will see a Bahrain type

climax, going wheel-to-wheel. Hamilton doesn't have enough. A very

clever message that has been overlaid on the picture. Somebody

didn't paint it between laps then? Clever technology! Smart stuff, a

bit of a moment for Lewis Hamilton. Can I use overtake? Nico, you can

use overtake. They are being very careful as to what they can and

can't use. There has been some discussion about that in previous

Grand Prix is, one driver using a certain mode and another doesn't

know about it, or has been told not to use. But on this occasion it

looks as though it has been run very straight. It has been a race between

them. But they have both been trying to look after the cars. Hamilton, on

the back of the Canadian sorrow, if you like, the fact he wasn't able to

finish the race, whereas Rosberg was, very aware of that. You can use

overtake to the end was, very aware of that. You can use

1.1, with the DRS. 1.2 seconds, we are on the last lap. Nico Rosberg

does seem to be in control. Unless Lewis Hamilton can find something

truly exceptional on this last lap, it seems to be heading the way of

Nico Rosberg. But let's not count anything until we get to the

chequered flag just yet. Hamilton closes up as we get to turn two. He

will be in DRS, a bad drive off turn two. In 1982, KK Rosberg came within

.05 within winning this race, an estate from Rosberg, Hamilton tried

to take advantage. He gave himself oversteer. It shows how hard they

are both trying on this final lap. Rosberg still in front. Three

corners to go. The left hand, kink right, then the final section around

on to the start finish straight. It is looking good for

on to the start finish straight. It These two have driven their hearts

out. They haven't gone wheel-to-wheel as they did in

Bahrain but it is going to big victory for Nico Rosberg here in

Austria! Rosberg wins the Austrian Grand Prix by 1.9 seconds in the end

that from Lewis Hamilton, who backs off across the line. Third place

goes to Valtteri Bottas, his first-ever podium in Formula One and

the battle between Hulkenberg and Ricciardo going on. Ricciardo has

got it, managed to go round the outside of the Force India,

following him for lap after lap after lap and just as we saw in

Canada when he made that amazing move down at turn one, Ricciardo

finds an opportunity that no one else has seen and Ricciardo might

not be for the victory but it just shows you how hungry he is. He's

going to finish this race in eight. Massa has finished in fourth. Alonso

fifth, Perez six, Magnussen seventh, Raikkonen who takes the final points

10th position. Great job, Nico, great job, strap

one, a pick-up rubber, good job, good job, Nico. Yeah, come on! Great

stuff, Lewis, an excellent recovery, really well driven, well-managed. It

was a tough one. Nico did exactly what he had to do, had the patience

at the beginning. The gap in the championship opens up a little bit

more. 29 points now between Rosberg and Hamilton. Yes, but if you were

doing the old primary school, this is a pass from Ricciardo's. This is

downhill into three. The battle continues as they come out of three.

They almost touch, they do touch ever so slightly and as they go

through the kink at four and get on the brakes, Ricciardo very brave

round the outside and make the stick. Great, clean racing. Nico

Rosberg takes his third victory of 2014, the sixth of his career, and

makes up for the disappointment of his father winning out of -- missing

out on a win. It is the 20th Mercedes win ever since 1954, when

they came into the Formula One World Champion ship. The first win for

Mercedes as a constructor in Austria. The full rundown, Rosberg

ahead of Hamilton, Bottas and Massa, Alonso fifth, Perez six, Magnussen

seventh, a good run from him. Ricciardo AIDS, snatching the place

from Hulkenberg on the last lap and Raikkonen taking a final point

intense. Jenson Button outside the points, Maldonado 12, Sutil 13th and

Bianchi did get past Kobayashi soap won the tussle. The three

non-finishers, Vergne, Vettel and Kvyat. Look at the trophy. Created

by local craftsmen in this region. A very different trophy to many of the

others that will be handed out over the course of the year. Picking up

the constructors trophy, the guy who does the strategy for the team. They

have worked pretty well today. Lewis picks up the trophy for second

place. And here we are, Valtteri Bottas, joining a great line of

Finnish drivers that have graced that podium. Nico Rosberg right now

is looking good for the World Championship in 2014. But you can

bet, with sawdust and around the corner, Lewis Hamilton will not be

giving up. -- with Silverstone around the corner.

Congratulations, Nico, what a strong performance today. That was some

trophy they gave you, wasn't it? It was very, very heavy actually. I

have never had such a heavy trophy in my life. It has been great all

weekend. It has been a cool race, so many fans who came, at full house. A

great atmosphere. The track is fun to drive. The team gave me the best

car. It was a difficult race. A lot going on. But with the best car we

can concentrate on strategy and it worked out. Fantastic. My goal

coming here, sorry, I am taking all your questions, my goal was to

extend the championship lead and I managed to do that so it was a

perfect weekend. It started with a good start. Talk us through getting

off the line. Initially got a better drive than Bottas. It was a great

start. Bottas, they are very quick down the straight, so he got me back

down out of turn one. He came flying right by me again in to turn two. No

chance against him. It seems like you have an answer for everything

that Lewis can bring towards you and he is making more mistakes than you.

If this part of what you are working on behind the as on track? I am not

looking too much at what he is doing and trying to do the best for

myself. Trying to make the most of it and it is working out at the

moment. This pass you did here, it seemed as if you weren't

moment. This pass you did here, it seemed as going to go for it, you

left the door then you snuck through at the apex. Was that was part of

your plan? Yes it was part of the plan. It is a

difficult braking area, the most difficult one of the whole track. It

is easy to look up. I tried to take it as carefully as possible, and he

knew I was there. As long as I roll on in the

it as carefully as possible, and he knew I was there. As long as I very

end I knew he would leave the gap. We could see you are having to push

a lot in the braking zone, there was one issue at turn one, was Atlanta

breaking too late? Just breaking too late, once.

Decided to go straight on for stop it is fine to do it as long as I

don't get an advantage. Brakes was an issue for us the whole day but it

take that set up we knew the brakes would be on the edge. We will

probably going to do a bit of management.

Silverstone, you went there last year, it is a track to right-macro

you enjoy. It is one of the highlights, home race for my team

for last year to win that was great. I

hope we can do want to this year, that would be spectacular. The same

A really strong race other, an incredible start. Had a good start.

Worked well with the team to make sure we got the best start possible.

And today was damage limitation. This weekend was a bad weekend for

me and I got second, I will take it.

After 71 laps out there, 1.9 seconds between eco-and yourself, to lose a

second in that first pit stop, does between eco-and yourself, to lose a

that smart little bit, it was so close towards the end?

I didn't know too much about the pit stops, they didn't feel the fastest

but the fact is there was no mistakes, and we still got one, too.

Tell us about your emotions heading into Silverstone, you are overdue

victory and you have got so many fans.

We have the best car, we should be making improvements for the next

race. I need to make sure I have got my head in the game to bring it home

for the fans at home. Smiling when he talked about the

start of the race. It was absolutely blistering for him to get so many

places in the first lap. Tricky start. Turn one. An amazing

launch of the line. Slots in there between the Toro Rosso and the

Ferrari for stop then just watching the gaggle of front, slides down the

inside, Donal Ricciardo running out wide of the curve. He is perfectly

positioned in the slipstream, exploiting the power, no GRS, using

that power up the hill, takes that this place as he reaches the

breaking into turn to. Overall fantastic way to start the race.

Encouraging to hear he is fairly philosophical about the fact he has

taken second place completing a pass on Alonso is turn eight. He said

there was no mistakes he made on track. What of anything at team

could have done to change position? The breaking management was clearly

an issue for both drivers. Arguably that could have affected Nico little

bit less than most because Lewis is running in the dirty air. Beyond

that strategy the conductor more. -- strategy wise they couldn't have

done more. Valtteri Bottas, first-ever podium,

how was it to walk out there? A really special feeling. Since I

was a little kid I have been watching the races and seeing the

top three guys coming to the podium. Very special to be in their, of

course you always want to be on the top spot. But it was a good start.

You made your intentions clear from the start, you lost a place to Nico

that you set yourself up perfectly to get the slipstream on the run up

to turn to. They getaway was not perfect, just a

bit of wheel spin. I knew getting a good exit from here and being in the

slipstream I can get him. Luckily we have really quick car in the

straight so I got him, I braked really later. Anything you are

picked up during the Grand Prix? For us as a team we need to analyse the

second pic stop and the timing, we had some problems with the radio

communication there. I think ideally we would have wanted to stop on lap

earlier but we need to analyse and that cost us anything. Do you feel

as though this has shown the rest of the paddock that Williams averaged

the benchmark? -- have raised the benchmark? Definitely. It is not the

biggest team, but this result shows what we can do once we get

everything right and in the future and sure we have more to come.

A very popular podium, the biggest cheer of the day went to Williams

and factory. Great have a first-hand podium. They

look like you are catching Mercedes towards the end.

Yes, we were quite surprised, a lot of pace today. Especially in the

beginning of the race and at the end we were able to race with them. Very

positive to see. We need to have a look if it is only one of, hopefully

not. We can learn from this race, try to be stronger next time.

Such a positive start, it didn't look like you did anything wrong out

there. Ultimately you are standing here for Federer your team-mates on

the podium. First of all I am happy for him, and

he did a great job. I made my pit stop, The Great Gatsby front. The

pit stop was not really quick, reasonable. But then I was on the

traffic on the out lap, Lewis Hamilton passed me. He was able to

pass me. I was also in the traffic with other cars, I lost a lot of

time. It was enough to his position. There was a Sopranos, problems at

the start. Flying at the end. -- and upside down race.

Strange race was pretty disappointed. The first lap we lost

too much, we didn't have that much pace to make up. The bit of a

confusing weekend. How much did Sebastian's problems

impact on your race because we had you had been told he couldn't do

certain things. I am not sure that was related to

his problems. There were a few overtake things I couldn't use, I

was constantly playing around on the steering wheel, getting information

from the team, whether that was precautions, I'm still not sure. All

in all, we couldn't really give them something they wanted. Silverstone

is a track we can hopefully extract a bit more fun.

Not a happy bunny today. Yesterday worried about the toast, today they

need to be worried about a lot more. -- about the tyres. Sebastian Vettel

is not used to watching these races from the pits. The pace was not

there, long straights adding to the frustration that this building

between their engine partner Renault.

Let's have a look at what put him out of the race. No way back from

this. Already a lap down. Battling with

Gutierrez. If you look at the rear of the Sauber car you will see the

red light start afresh, he is no longer using the battery supply to

generate some of the power. Here's the rear wing, that means he has to

come for another pit stop. It is ironic, at the Red Bull

Racing, and sure they would rather be racing last year when I had all

Nico Rosberg on the top step today with Lewis Hamilton just behind him

for stop Valtteri Bottas's first ever podium and Kimi Raikonnen

taking the last point available. In terms of the championship it looks

like this. Nico has a 29 point advantage over Lewis going into

Silverstone. Daniel Ricciardo will though. There are movers. Look at

those Williams boys. Valtteri Bottas jumps up to seventh place and Felipe

Massa is up tonight. No change at the top of the Constructors'

Championship at Williams are the winners here today. They move ahead

of McLaren for fifth place. Just a couple of points behind Force India

for stop --. Williams on the move will stop Allan

McNish joins us now. To joke about where places were one loss today.

We heard from Felipe Massa how we dropped from first to fourth. He

said it was traffic on the out lap. He also lost time on the inner and

the pit stop. We can see by this video for stop Valtteri Bottas on

the left, on the right Felipe Massa. His in that was six tenths of a

second slower than Bottas. They stop on the marks perfectly but on the

right-hand side you can see Massa is very slightly slower in getaway.

That was three quarters of the second difference they crossed the

line. That Lewis Hamilton who had already stopped

line. That Lewis Hamilton who had earlier was able to attack him up in

to turn to for stopping lost time they're defending against Hamilton

for stop then he lost time with the Safari late on.

the race. That made such a monumental

difference on track in terms of position.

It was a huge difference for stop Valtteri Bottas is on the podium

celebrating for Williams this year. They could easily have been Felipe

Massa for stop and not 100% sure whether they thought as a team they

were in with a chance of this victory. They didn't cover of

Mercedes as early as they should have done. What you make of that?

Very valid points. Rooms were very much thinking we have had a great

qualifying but we cannot possibly be Mercedes sellers concentrate on

Trent be best of the rest. In actual fact Mercedes didn't have a pace

advantage as we have seen in previous races. They still have that

strength in depth but it could have been clockwise.

If they look back at all is quite an exciting prospect. We have got a

challenger for Mercedes was that they just they just need to believe

it. That has given them confidence to go

to the next Grand Prix, the home Grand Prix. Williams just down the

road from there. Then the circuit very well. I do think the circuit

characteristic did to them. The important point was they managed to

convert their performance into points. That is something they have

struggled with all year for stop Sergio Perez had a great day

insect. Once again he's great making the

tyres going the distance. He will be satisfied the fact we know how good

Nico Hulkenberg is. For the second race running he has been leading the

charge for the team there. Result for Force India and again when you

mentioned about Williams, the most, Force India are literally within

throwing a wheel at the track at Silverstone, just across the way.

British Grand Prix. And of course they are celebrating their 50th race

so it will be a four-day party stop all kinds of celebrations going on,

pit lane walkabouts, concerts, vintage dress on a Friday and some
