Welcome to viewers on BBC One. We are back here lies at the Olympics

in Rio with Great Britain in semifinal hockey action against New

Zealand. Britain leading 3-0 for the right to play in the gold-medal

match for the very first time. We will leave you on BBC Two the hockey

is now on BBC One so switchover and and join us there. We go back to

mirror -- we go back to Matt Chilton.

Less than four minutes left in this contest. The intensity has been

immense from the British side tonight. Everything has gone

according to plan and stuck to their game plan which was decided by Danny

Kerry at the start and reinforced during the various breaks. You

really have to give credit to Danny Kerry and the coaching staff and the

conditioning coach. These players put their whole Olympic dream in

their hands and it is about peaking at the right time and credit where

credit is due -- deal, technically Danny Kerry and his team have been

spot-on and physically they are in the best shape of their lives. It is

behind, think how many injuries Great Britain have suffered tonight.

It emphasises how much they put their bodies on the line throughout

the 57 minutes of this match so far. Three minutes left on the clock.

Sophie Bray puts pressure on the New Zealand defence once more. At the

moment it looks as though New Zealand will take on Germany for the

bronze medal match. Great Britain will face the Dutch in the battle of

gold. There is still some hockey to be played. Quick fires it downfield.

A few more seconds last. It was the right tactic. Now Great Britain are

just setting up the hard-core press. The forwards are standing and moving

around on the halfway land -- line. I can fear being that the rest of

the game. Every time Britain when the ball they will play for

territory. Three goals in two minutes is a big ask for New

Zealand. Whitelock inside the British circle. They turn and it is

hooved away by Maddy Hinch. Hollie Webb is able to pick it up. Great

Britain 's free hit. Hockey is coming home. That is the song being

sung by the British supporters here tonight.

It has just been an outstanding performance by the team throughout

the tournament here. They are the only team throughout this

competition who will probably be seven from seven. The dream is to be

eight from eight by the end of it and the way they are playing at the

moment, it will be a fascinating final against the Dutch. Townsend

was brought down, crashing heavily to the artificial turf. We are

inside the final 60 seconds of the Olympic semifinal. Sam Quek sends it

long. And now the British fans are in

jubilant voice as they watch the clock, celebrations going on on the

bench as well with the Union Jack being waived all around the stadium.

There is no way back to New Zealand is now. It is a half-hearted finish

from the Black sticks. They have seen the scoreboard. New Zealand

zero, Great Britain three. The last ten seconds of this match and Great

Britain are guaranteed at least the silver medal. We hope the gold. They

will do battle with the Dutch on Friday. There is the final hooter!

Great Britain are in the Olympic final. A fantastic performance, what

a tournament they have had a! Yet to lose a match, and they have won the

most important one so far comfortably. Three goals to zero

over New Zealand. Alex Danson got things going in the first half and

then there were penalty straight from Helen Richardson-Walsh and then

Danson stood up, stepped forward to take her second, again from the

penalty spot. Absolutely incredible. I am so pleased and proud for every

single player that is out there. It is an unbelievable performance and

the first time the women's hockey team have been in an Olympic final

four Great Britain, it has got me. Mel Clewlow has a lump in her throat

and the final score here is 3-0 to Great Britain. Job done. RISHI: to

be fair you can understand the lump in Mel Clewlow 's throat. It has

been a wonderful journey so far with the first final in the Olympics ever

for the Great Britain women and they have been magnificent. There are

times when words can't describe the emotion that is attached about

results. They have been magnificent. At times it wasn't pretty, at times

New Zealand were dominant and aggressive and assertive but Great

Britain Rodin made it look easy at times indeed defence. They

counter-attacked with real authority and it was just momentous. It is

momentous and monumental and majestic. They have a final to look

forward against the Netherlands on Friday and we will talk about that

in a moment but first we will reflect on the journey these women

have been through since London. They worked so hard in this four year

cycle and lifted their game. They have lifted their spirits. The focus

and the intensity and all of the things their sports psychologists

talk about and their coaches talk about, these girls have delivered.

They have developed. Mel talked about in commentary, this is about

31 person group and they developed a gold-medal mentality and every

single thing they do at every moment and every breath they take is about

delivering in the next game, not that game, that is a step on the

pathway, they want nothing other than to stand on the rostrum

Drummond take-home gold and it has been incredible to watch. Simon, you

live and breathe hockey, this has been your life. People back home and

follow the sport, what does this success success tonight and the

guarantee of a silver medal for the Great Britain women mean? It changes

the face of hockey, genuinely, you can always say the right things and

talk about where you want to be and talk about the aspiration, but these

girls have delivered. They have taken these words and put them into

action and they got the bronze medal in London and they have had some

fantastic results they are European champions, but to come on an Olympic

stage and turn it on the way they have, with the injuries to Georgie

Twigg and Crista Cullen both going down with head injuries and coming

back onto the pitch, the strength and resilience and the athleticism

and the majority that has come through this squad led by Danny

Kerry, has been exceptional, remarkable, call it what you like,

but it has been a delight to watch and I'm so proud of them. I had the

privilege of watching the girls training and I've seen that here a

lot and I have noticed how close-knit they are. People talk

about Kate Richardson-Walsh being a brilliant leader but loads of the

women stand the pitch and they step up to the mark and they help her and

they are so tight as a group. up to the mark and they help her and

they are so tight as a group. You could put any one of those players

into a leadership role in a team or business, whatever needs to be, they

would all step up in the Amby captains. I will bring Mal into it

as well. I have lost it! I understand. We were talking to Simon

and there was just one win in the tournament at Sydney and in Athens

we didn't even get there but it has been built and built and built and

it is all coming to tuition now. It is phenomenal. The players deserve a

lot of credit but Danny Kerry and his coaching team have got it spot

on tactically, they really have. The conditioning coach has got them in

the physical condition of the life and for a group of players to put

their trust in that group of people as well, it is just an awesome,

awesome moment for British hockey. Before you came down with a say how

tight the group is. They are in the huddle now and what are they

feeling? Can you describe it? A lot of players will really be numb. You

saw the celebrations at the end which didn't last long but I have

never seen this group is focused as they are now. We will listen in.

I think they are just saying one more. One more time. When Sam got

her reward for 50 caps the other night she said two more. The

countdown has been going since they arrived here. They were brilliant in

the pool games but they had to lifted. They were brilliant against

Spain but it has been an even bigger challenge. You talk about how quick

the Black Caps were, by the end of it they were knackered. What is

remarkable is the different ways Great Britain can play, they play

aggressively with control and precision. Danny Kerry has the

tactics spot on but his players have delivered

those messages are at the come out here and take it to the absolute

umpteenth level, technically and tactically to get to a medal game.

We will look through the goals one more time. Alex Danson settle the

nerves because it was tense. New Zealand had a couple of great

chances but Alex scored. It is the striker 's instinct to be there.

Neal nearly cleared it up the line and sometimes when those things go

your way you know you are in with a chance and it was a great start that

calm the nerves for a lot of people. After that New Zealand started

putting the pressure on an Great Britain soaked it up and eventually

Helen Richardson-Walsh helped us out with the second goal and the penalty

strike. If you have got players who attack aggressively and pick the

ball up and believe in their speed and their skills and you drive that

hard into the circle, you will get an outcome and Helen did, it was a

great bit of close control with acceleration and a change of pace

that drew the horrendous foul and the first penalty stroke to take

Great Britain 2-0 up. She went down and have little injury and she went

off but the girls are just coming through. Kate. I will just let you

enjoy this moment because you deserve it as well. Fantastic, Kate.

I think the first thing is, just what are you thinking and feeling

right now? I am exhausted, to be honest but I am really proud, really

proud of the girls. We have done every single game this tournament

and done the task and done our job I got the result we deserve and it

happened again today. I thought we were so resilient and we had to ride

out some serious balls from New Zealand, they are a fantastic side

and we had to defend like our lives depended on it. It was a little

snapshot of your whole career, riding out the storms. I was talking

to men about the times when you didn't even qualify for Athens and

Sydney was very good but then you guys put a plan into place and it

has been a magnificent build-up. This is the result of the

centralised programmer started in 2009 and the squad that got the

bronze medal in London, this is off the back of that and those girls

really have a part to play in this and I am proud of all of the players

really. Danny. Don't just drift around here and bring your big smile

onto the screen, come on. How good does it feel? What can I say? Seven

out of seven is not too shabby. I think the girls were absolutely

superb now. They tactically executed it spot on, absolutely spot-on under

pressure and they kept delivering. I am very, very proud of the man very

proud of this 1am proud of Helen taking that stroke. Just proud. We

have spoken about the fact that you might be the captain, Kate, and

you've spoken about yourself, there are leaders everywhere you look out

there. Absolutely. What you saw today was the ultimate squad

performance. People putting their bodies on the line and thinking very

clearly under pressure and doing the right thing at the right moment.

Everybody, two women stood up -- everybody to a woman stood up and

did their job today. What happens between now and the final? We will

public and media interest but we have to ensure that doesn't

interfere with our recovery but we will do our usual processes as we

have done all through the tournament which is dull but it works. We will

get into trouble for keeping you too long but hopefully we will keep you

third goal, but before we talk about that, Mel said the first goal calmed

nerves down, you might have been 1-0 up but it was a lot of pressure. We

didn't feel nervous on the pitch, they kept getting chances but never

scoring, and that helped build our confidence, you kind of think, this

is going to be our night. Fortunately we were able to put the

stroke away this time. And you limped away, are you OK? My

hamstring is a little soar, hopefully it will be OK in a couple

of days. Mel has been in tears since halfway through the match, so we

Britain through, the third goal in the end was courtesy of Alex Danson,

and she is here! Can you talk us through the third goal? We're just

seeing it, talk us through what happened. I can't remember. It was a

fantastic piece of play by Lily down the side. I think she won the

stroke, and it was a case of just trying to do my job, keep cool, so

when it did go in, I was delighted. You are one of the senior players,

you have been through so much, it has been such an up-and-down journey

for so long, but it is firmly on the up. The one thing we have always had

his belief. We believe we have to come out here and deliver on the

tactics, one game at a time, one more to play. I spoke to Simon a few

minutes ago talking about the significance of this win for the

sport, for what you girls have done, what the women have done for the

sporting Great Britain. I hope whatever body sees is the tightest

group of women there could possibly be out there, we are such a team,

and that is every athlete who has ever played the Great Britain, all

the athletes believed in this, we work hard, the spirit, the players,

the team, that is what has got us to this final. We wish you the very

volleyball for you, Brazil's women have volleyball gold in their

sights. It is also a crucial evening for the Brazilian men in the indoor

volleyball competition, they take an Argentina in the quarterfinals. And

British boxer Savannah Marshall will be in action, plus the men's

welterweight gold-medal bout. We have a cracking night of sport

here at Rio 2016 for you. The USA yet to find their top form. They are

so used to thrashing opponents, they have won by a margin of ten, three

and three points, and they are taking on Argentina in the

quarterfinals soon. They have won three of their five group matches,

that is coming up very soon live for you here on BBC One. Then from half

past midnight, we are with Gabby and the gang for a wonderful night at

the Olympics, the women's 200 metres final, and it is also the women's

long jump final, the women's 100 metres hurdles, Usain Bolt in the

house in the men's 200 metres semifinals, and Adam Gemili lining

up in that as well, then some tae kwon do, some freestyle wrestling

before we catch up with a monster match in the men's volleyball, the

hosts Brazil taking on strongly fancied Argentina, that is live from

2.15 on the Red Button, then we go live for the women's beach

volleyball, it is a battle between Brazil and Germany, what a night!

Argentina are leading the United States, and some newspapers are

worried about the United States not landing the goal, some saying their

defence is vulnerable, they are a major concern, but can Argentina

capitalise? Let's enjoy this, which set up.

COMMENTATOR: So, it is a hot start here. Kevin Durant has really

helped, the only player to score so far for the United States, he has

got all seven points. It is something that was said, this side

want to score all the points, but someone has to play a different kind

of role, and so far we haven't seen that. He was looking to off-load

that to Patricio Garino. And Argentina can go again. Finding

plenty of room for Argentina, the attempt to three. No good. Duran

almost losing his own balder. DeAndre Jordan is not the best

free-throw shooter, but that isn't free-throw, he still misses, but a

good reference -- defensive rebound. That is blocked, but he somehow gets

it away. Garino, a fine start here from Argentina, a 5-point lead. They

are making their shots. Effectively bans, that is a telling step at this

early stage. I'm not sure how long they will be able to keep that up.

Garino, some clever work, and camp -- Campazzo, it is in! Campazzo has

really started an intense first flurry. Now, turnover for Argentina,

and a shot for three. Thompson does it well. Finally a

basket of the Klay Thompson, that will give his confidence a boost.

The USA on the fast break here, Durant with time to measure for the

three, and that is just what the United States needed. I don't think

they have been down by ten points since they played Australia. Durant

is looking fired up. Durant with ten of 14 for the USA to score right

now. Brilliant steel and interception, this is George, and

brings the house down for the United States with three minutes on the

clock. Always the question for Argentina, how consistent can you

be? You cannot make mistakes against the United States, Paul George

waiting for his moment and then bringing it home with the dog. They

are now getting some other scorers in the game, and no surprise

Argentina calling the time-out with three minutes on the clock, first

quarter. United States finally getting into

gear, it has taken while but now they knocking down the shots. Kevin

Durant has led the way with ten points, the new Golden State

Warriors player showing his quality. This is Campazzo for Argentina. He

and Ginobili and the outstanding players of Argentina. That dropped

for DeMarcus Cousins, so that is two points, and now they lead by five.

So, it is Kyle Lowry, and Jimmy Butler works it in, Durant has now

found his range! Ginobili goes himself, but he needs

an option out wide. Goes for three, just missing Garino, and Kyle Lowry

steams it down, stops and pops and gives it to cousins, who is fouled.

Scola wanting to dominate, but Argentina just keeping the

scoreboard ticking over. That was the goal previously from Damascus

cousins. -- do Marcus cousins. The first of two attempts for

Cousins. So, this to draw level, great stance, 83% from Cousins for

the tournament. This to draw level. They were down by ten points, the

United States, so a remarkable effort to level it up so quickly.

That is what they are capable of. Argentina will be pleased with what

they have done so far, Scola hasn't finished it off there, and here

comes Kyle Lowry for the United States. He has to share the load

with the other US players. Jimmy Butler coming inside. Cousins there,

the shot clock running down, but gets it in over, so the United

States lead 23-21. They have come back well.

A chance for three now. Cozens brings it back down the court. Duran

brings it down and under the hoop. Debts in the end was Nocioni. The

36-year-old with experience in that situation on the first foul from

Cozens. The Argentinians can be a frustrating team to play against.

They already force couple. They got away with it there. This is the

final minute of the first quarter with a 2-point lead for the United

States. They are in the penalty fell situation and it was given away and

it is a United States ball. George can't believe it but it is going to

be US ball here with just under one minute to play in the first quarter.

The US are up by two. Nocioni will be watching this very closely.

Campazzo comes off for a rest. United States. Brilliant work.

Cozens finding room under the hoop. He slams in and the United States

are making a statement here with 30 seconds to go. Six points per

Cozens. I tell you what, even practising it all day, it hasn't

helped me to say Nicolas Laprovittola. He is just happy to

spend some time. Scola, thinking about it, Nocioni brings it in an

too much pressure at the end. A fast break from the United States, on the

buzzer and Mrs Durant. At quarter time it is 25-21. Full credit to the

United States. They were 14-7 down but they have steadied the ship

here. So, the state 's lead by four points

at the end of the quarter and we will go back there very shortly but

first let me give you an idea of what else is happening right across

the games this evening. At the Maracanazinho there is indoor

volleyball. Italy is taking on Iran and Canada lost to Russia earlier

today, winning in straight sets 25-1525- 25, 20 5-18. The biggest

match in the indoor volleyball is Brazil against Argentina and they

have contested the final each of the last three Olympics by only one has

been gold. The Brazil dream of reaching a fourth final looked in

jeopardy when they lost in the United States of America and Italy,

who, as you can see, our heading into the semifinals in the group

stages, but they scraped through in fourth place and now they have a

really big clash tonight against Argentina. Both sides will be very

well supported, there is no love lost between Brazil and Argentina, a

rivalry that stems from international football. The

Argentines topped the group and 14-macro out of five matches and

they have exited at this stage in the last four Olympics since winning

Laprovittola brings it back down. Garino and almost knocking it up

here, Argentina. I think it came off the boot there and it may have

crossed the centre line. It is a USA ball and all of a sudden the extra

pressure from the United States and Argentina are starting to mess

things up. They were rattled early on, the United States, but they have

composed themselves and just stepping on the line there and that

is a violation from Argentina on a United States ball.

But lavage and 12.5 minutes on the court for the tournament. DeMarcus

Cousins works his way in, physical and in it goes. 3-point play United

States. This is the trouble for Argentina, they commit so many fouls

and hear DeMarcus Cousins has lost chance as Scola is trying to

dominate against DeMarcus Cousins but at the moment he gets the better

of him and he knocks down a foul shot is well in the United States

get a comfortable lead here. Argentina need to get themselves

back in it. Nine points for DeMarcus Cousins. An off-load. They are now

bringing it all the way to home as Nicolas Laprovittola and the

secondary effort doesn't go. It is a 30-21 lead for the United States.

They will be comfortable now. They look like they are getting in their

stride and other players scoring points. Not just Kevin Durant.

DeMarcus Cousins is dominating which is important. Garino get some rest

and Gabriel Deck is now on for Argentina. He is a 21-year-old.

Larry brings it down and tries to direct traffic. He moves it forward

to Duranty. Gerrard for three. The lips out but the defensive rebound

from Butler and the 3-pointer was never going to miss from Duran, who

is just on fire at the moment. 33-21. Much of that school goes down

against the name of Butler. Look at the turnover, areas, Butler with a

fast break, and makes the 3-point play as well. They are feeling it

now, the United States. You can't give them second chances, and Kevin

Durant got one there, you can't give them turnovers, so what does Jimmy

Butler do, steals the ball and takes it all the way and finishes off with

a foul in the basket. It is a 3-point play and the USA are now

asserting themselves against Argentina. They are making a bit of

a statement now. It drops for Butler. 36-21. I just wonder if that

early lead heard Argentina. It went the United States up and they

realise they had to play. Nicholas put property owner has no

options at the moment and brings in an almost coughed up again,

Argentina. That will not count. Whistle on the play. Or will

account? It well. It came well after the whistle so I think they might

review this one. Maybe he was already in the shooting acts that is

why they've given it to him. The whistle seem to come pretty early

but it was brilliant to actually get it in, he was completely off there.

Drawing the foul, Facundo Campazzo, that is ten points for the match for

Campazzo to date. We will factor DeMarcus Cousins at this stage.

Campazzo to complete the 3-point play and does so. 36-24. They charge

again, all alone on that occasion for a living, it doesn't go. A quick

break for Nicolas Laprovittola. They need those to drop. At this crucial

point in the second quarter. I am not sure what DeMarcus Cousins was

trying to block there but it wasn't the ball. It didn't matter in the

because Argentina missed a shot. When they get turnovers they have to

convert them because this is going to be a really difficult task

Argentina. They are not completely out of it though. Campazzo was

underneath the hoop and brings out the ball and drove the foul. It is

Nicolas Laprovittola. They are slowing things down, Irving, but

one-on-one battles mean the United States will come out on top and

Argentina need to move the ball around and, -- create the space of

the open play out. Inside is Gabriel Deck who is marshalled off it by

DeAndre Jordan, the big players are off for Argentina. Begin stature and

talent, Scola and Manu Ginobili are on the bench right now. An important

basket for Argentina. They are only down by nine now. He is the

organiser from back port. It is only the second triple of the day for

Argentina. We haven't seen Klay Thompson really get involved as yet.

Anthony has done brilliantly to get at Shotton. The United States are

keeping that scoreboard ticking over. Delfino was a great 3-point

shooter but it doesn't drop for him there. So, it is Irving with some

clever play and charging under the hope and he does it well. It is

showtime now for the United States. That was talent and opportunity

joining together, great combination. Campazzo goes himself and brings in

board. Gabriel Deck "With every work under the basket from Marcos Delia

but it didn't go. A charge now. Lowry goes himself. Any attempt to

slap it away, Anthony was coming down and it is going to be a United

States ball. 40-27 here at the Carioca Arena 2 stop Irving with

some great work. Look at Kevin Durant, he likes it. Yes, so did

Draymond Green. United States look a lot more lively than Lewsey before

the game. Manu Ginobili has got a serious face because he knows the

Argentinians are up against it here, down by 13 points and the United

States have one of their best shooters at the line. He is trying

to win a gold medal. He has 73% from the throw before this match but it

is lifting here. 100% record. Six minutes left to go in the second

quarter. Manu Ginobili comes out for Argentina. Argentina and Nicolas

Laprovittola, an option provided out wide by Campazzo. He wants to off

load, and does so. Engine appears Gabriel Deck. He misses on the fade

away and a rebound from Anthony. It is brought back down the court,

courtesy of Irving. A long range from Anthony and it rooms out and

scrounge here for Manu Ginobili but he lets it go.

The Argentinians can't believe this, they said it clearly came off a

United States player. I'm not sure they can review that, that is a

pretty clear error if it does go the United States' way. You just have to

play the whistle. George the one-two, and that will just hurt

Argentina even more. It comes back to Ginobili, Campazzo. Almost

dispossessed, diving desperation from Green. The states have

certainly woken up. The shots doesn't go, and now the United

States can bring it back, but there was an errant hand in there. The

United States putting great pressure on the outside players are

Argentina, and they are getting some steels, but they are also shooting

the three is now, and if the United States get on a role there, that

could be trouble for Argentina. Scola is looking worried, Butler and
