6th Round Draw The FA Cup

Chelsea are through to the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup

with a very comfortable victory here at Stamford Bridge against an

inexperienced Manchester City side. We have got the draw coming up in

about ten minutes' time. But, overall, we saw a few goals, it was

entertaining, but pretty one-sided and the second half? Definitely. The

first half, plenty of endeavour from the Manchester City youngsters,

showed great character getting back into the game to level it at

half-time, but as soon as the goal went in just after half-time for

Chelsea it was always going to be how many were they going to get? It

was a big ask for the Man City youngsters against a very

experienced and talented Chelsea side? Absolutely, but big applause

to them, they gave them an opportunity. You heard Danny talking

in the commentary, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a very talented

player, the game was comfortable and he wanted to see youngsters getting

a chance, they are not getting a chance. You had to invest a lot of

money in Academy football and in young players and you had to be able

to see... It is a harsh lesson against top players, but hopefully

Babel had gained for that and will be better for it. I know you are

very involved the Chelsea Academy, is would be nice to see some of the

young Chelsea players given an opportunity, it is about getting the

balance right? It is an opportunity, they do some wonderful working with

young players. I was here for about four and half years, lots of money

invested, lots of good people in the academy, fantastic young players.

You want to see them make the next step. It is difficult because of the

pressures on managers, that is the difference. The big clubs in

particular, every manager, they are earned a big pressure. If you only

have a short period you will use your experience. Is that the case

that if you are good you know few are old enough? It is trying to

dislodge the experienced players. There would probably never have been

a better time than earlier in the season when quite a few of them were

struggling, just throw one in. It is difficult to put three or four in

when the team is struggling. But time is maybe now to give the guys a

chance when they were playing better food all.

Time for some action from the other fifth round ties. Tottenham's quest

blasted at home. Crystal Palace take the lead at White Hart Lane.

The angle was not favourable, but Kane took it on anyway. Never scared

to shoot. A very important save. Kane can't touch it home. Neither

can his team-mate. The referee blows for time. It is a

famous victory for Alan Pardew and Crystal Palace, Palace make it

through to the last date for the first time since 1995.

so much talent in their ranks, who would back against them winning the

That is Shrewsbury Town Manchester United. And hopefully this will be a

Hull City facing Watford and finally, Shrewsbury Town Manchester

whole, I should say. That is a very good point. Pick of the tie is

Everton against Chelsea, you think? Shrewsbury Town or Manchester

United. Manchester United really do need a result. It is a tough place.

He's done a good job there. When Chelsea went there last year it was

tough. I suppose when you've been through a period of success, do you

feel for managers when they struggle? You always do. It is tough

as a manager because it can be relentless. To be fair, it has been

for him for a long time. The only way that you succumb to that is to

win games. Tomorrow night is a big match for him. It is huge.

Particularly the way that they were defeated in the Europa League. The

lack of leadership in that team, they must put in a performance. Who

would you make favourites to win the competition at the moment? Given the

fact that Chelsea have been drawn away at Everton, Palace at Reading,

Manchester United have a game to win. It is hard to pick a favourite.

I would favour Arsenal in the replay. I think we can hear from the

Chelsea manager. He has just walked out of his office where he watched

that draw. Everton away. The team who beat in the final in 2009. It

was a long time ago. I think they were looking for revenge. But it was

Everton in the final with David Moyes. What are your thoughts on it?

Everton at home. We will hope to maintain the form until the next

game. Did you expect this to be this easy? We did not, but making those

changes, the youngsters that came in, they were good in the first half

and they made it a good draw in the first-half. I think it was key that

we started well in the second half. Getting an early goal and an early

second goal which meant that the game was played at that time. You

had better get that suit measured for Wembley. We are out of time.
