Blue. It's the colour of the summer sea. Blue for the special one, the

champions of Jose Mourinho, it's the colour of thinking afresh, the sky's

the limit. Pellegrini's City. It's the colour of trust, confidence,

knowing your place at the top. True blue, it is the colour of being

down. And Chelsea's troubles have just increased. Feeling low, having

the blues, faltering, wavering... Another immeasurable episode in the

tragedy of Chelsea's form. Having the blues can be starting brightly

and suddenly being laid low. The Etihad Stadium in shock. On the deep

blue sea, there can be mutiny. In the clear blue sky, the thinking may

be more Pep than Pellegrini. Pellegrini will be leaving the club

at the end of the season. Light blue, dark blue, overtaken by new

blue. What a screamer! For what do you do when you're blue? Reach for

the blueprint of old. What about this? ! Look for the sparkle of

Sapphire. The FA Cup, the blue riband event that can ease the pain.

What a season it's been for the Blues of Chelsea and City. They meet

this afternoon in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Guus Hiddink lifted the trophy as Chelsea manager back in 2009 and

he'd love to do it again before leaving in the summer. City are

still chasing four trophies and the FA Cup is the only domestic

competition Pellegrini's yet to win during his time in Manchester.

Welcome to Stamford Bridge in West London, these two teams have won the

competition 12 times between them and this afternoon we'll find out

who will be in the quarter-final draw that follows this game. Kick

off is at 4. And here to enjoy the game with us,

Alan shearer, Brendan Rodgers and Trevor sin collar. Alan firstly, two

giants here -- Trevor Sinclair. Two of the richest clubs in the world

but not had things go their way? Most of Chelsea's season's been a

disaster but they now have a chance, which I feel is their best chance in

this competition, to resurrect that season and it could turn into a good

season if they win something. For City, still going strong in four

competitions so it could be still a great season for them, but with

Pellegrini's quotes and with the team he's put out today, this is the

least of his priorities. Yes. Quite unusual here, two

managers, Brendan, in charge of the team who is won't be here next

season. Does that make a difference to them or the players or both? I

think for the two managers, they are both experienced managers and, in

all fairness for the two, they come from different environments. I think

for maybe a British manager, it's probably unheard of for us here in

this country, but obviously Gus coming in from Holland and working

in Europe and obviously Manuel, South America, they are probably

more used to that. I think for them, they'll just continue looking to win

trophies if they can and finish on a high. For some players, it might be

difficult because they'll have half an eye on the next season, but in

the main, they'll look to win the game.

Trevor, your former club. It's funny, you look at them, everyone

fancied them to get away with the league, it's not happened and they

have stuttered. Why do you think they have had so many

inconsistencies? Well, their form. Key players in' areas have not lived

up to performances and, as a whole, they have suffered. Listen, they are

in all four competitions still. It could unravel quickly so they have

got to be careful. We have seen opportunities for some of the young

boys here and let's see how they can play on the big screen. We talked

about some of the young boys. Let's go pitch side for the confirmed

Welcome to the boys in the studio too. Lots of discussion in the week

about possible proposed changes for the FA Cup. It's clear from the side

that Chelsea have selected today this is a competition they very much

want to win. As for Manchester City, it's clear, Gary, that it's the

Champions League and the Capital One Cup final next Sunday which is the

priority. Let's take a look at the teams. Courtois looked back to his

best against PSG midweek. The same back four that started Tuesday, the

Champions League tie, Cahill partnering Ivanovic in the heart of

defence. Mikel alongside Fabregas. Hazard scored a penalty against MK

Dons and Costa is a player in-form, eight goals in 11 under Guus

Hiddink. As for City, Caballero maintains his record of starting

every game. There is a first senior appearance for Adarabioyo, an unused

substitute in City's last two Champions League games. Spanish

under 18 Garcia is another debutant in central midfield and joining

Iheanacho upfront, Faupala, the third debutant in the side. So it's

clear from the sides that Chelsea will surely be fancying their

chances. Yes, you would have thought so.

Alan, you have a view? Well, understandably I think Chelsea have

gone very strong, as I said. This is I think their best chance to win

something this season, but I don't get the talk of resting players.

City are and want to be a big club on the global stage. They have more

resources than anyone, more finances than anyone can virtually have, they

can go out and buy who they want. To moan and complain that they have too

many fixtures at this season, they are in four competitions so why

moan, I don't understand why people moan about that, that's why they

want to be in the competitions. I never see Suarez, Neymar, Messi,

Ronaldo, the best players in the world, I never see these guys

wanting to be left out. I know they won 6-0 in the first leg of the Copa

Del Rey and they were left out second leg, but other than that, I

never see the guys being rested, for us it seems a big issue in this

country. Can you understand Pellegrini on this? He's got a lot

of injuries and he's trying to balance out each team and maybe in

each competition. I also think what you have nowadays, Alan, is, some

players aren't as robust as they used to be. Why though? You look at

the top players, the likes of Luis and Neymar, these guys want to play.

That's what they have got to be judged against. Can you understand a

player thinking, I would quite like to miss a game? With the

accumulation of games with some players, they break down quickly

with injury, that might be genetics. Some play three games in a row, they

can break down. I think players might give managers an excuse to

actually be content to be rested to have a weekend off. That's more in

our game now than it's ever been. Trevor, some kids amongst them? Yes,

they have the opportunity on the big stage now. The biggest thing is is

the recovery time. Manchester City originally wanted the game on a

Saturday. The Metropolitan Police came into it, the Football League,

the Farces a lot of bodies involved. Man City haven't got their own way

and in a way, Manuel Friels sorry for the players because they have

got to travel tomorrow and they are away for a long time and the

recovery time is not what he hoped. Very true. The last time Guus

Hiddink was in charge of Chelsea they won the FA Cup. That was in

2009, they beat Everton 2-1. Seven years on, he could do it again, even

a cup double alongside the Champions League, who knows. He's a man with

plenty of club and international experience. We sent gasht to catch

up with the Dutchman. -- sent Garth to catch up with the

Dutchman. Guus, you are back at Stamford

Bridge, it feels like deja vu? Of course, I have a beautiful memory of

that time in 2009, but it's also the past. We live now in the current

situation. In December we were down and yes, we have to restore, first

of all, the confidence in getting the points to get away as soon as

possible from this relegation zone. Do you feel at home here? Very much

so. When they asked me in December, when they said, oh, what's going on

here, please help, of course you play the game a bit, a few hours, I

don't know, of course I knew! Because the affection to this club

was huge. Do you have this sort of healing

effect on a club like Chelsea that's come through a turbulent time? I'm

not a doctor, I'm just a simple manager. I hope to have a very

direct and special relationship with all the players, but I like to feel

they're comfortable in the club because then I can say, hey, my

friend, you have to step up to a higher level.

There is been a marked improvement in Costa's performance. What have

you done? Tried to get him to focus on where he's good. He's good at

going as soon as possible towards the goal where he can score and,

just to put the energy where you are good at it.

You said that John Terry will not be fit for this cup tie. Will he be

here next season? That's not for me to answer, you know. He's made his

statement. The club also is saying there's an open door, so we'll see

what will happen in the future. What do you remember about the Cup Final

against Everton? We were 1-0 down. We were 1-0 down!

But the team didn't panic and I think in the first half we made a

goal through Drogba, the second half we control and dominated to get the

sill veer ware home. If I was a betting man, I would probably bet

what happened in 2009 is probably going to happen again. You are not a

betting man? ! I'm not a betting man.

Brendan coming in at this stage. I suppose as a manager, it would be

hard for things to not improve from the way Chelsea were but he's done a

good job? Yes, you can see in his character and personality, he's a

real good figure, big experience, both internationally and at club

level he's worked. The players probably needed a cuddle at the

time, you know, they were under a lot of scrutiny. They've responded

well. We all like a cuddle don't we, from our managers, depending on

which manager we have. Hazard, extraordinary how good he was last

season to where he's gone this season, shows how confident he's

been? Confidence is a big thing. The manager's now got everyone else

playing to somewhere near the ability that they had last year.

Here he is last year, full of confidence, not a thought in his

head, picks it up and, when he's in this form, he's scary, there's

virtually no stopping him whatsoever. No thought about it,

left foot, ping, in the back of the net, nothing can be done about it.

That's when he was happy last year. This year he's thing about things.

This goes in the back of the net last year, but first touch, decent,

against Newcastle, second touch, oops, pretty awful. He's not blessed

with great work rate either, so when it's not going right for him, like

it isn't here, then he's obviously on a sticky wicket. He's given me

the impression that he's playing to get away from here. He doesn't look

happy at all. The manager's got everyone else playing to their

ability, smiling, looking to enjoy their football but he's the only guy

he hasn't got going. But if you are planning to get away from a club,

you want to play well though? We are sure he wants to play well, no

player goes out not wanting to play? It's a confidence thing and for me

it's possibly the coaches not doing their job because, as a player you

go out there and do your best but at tames you need a reminder to keep it

simple. Sometimes a coach can inspire you. Get back to simple

basics and people give you a bit more time. Having said what I've

just said, if he does leave, I would bet there would be three or four

clubs wanting to pay ?60-?70 million. Would you take a punt? I

would, yes. Pitch side, Jason is with Graham Le Saux. What is your

view? I think playing matches, three games a week isn't a problem for a

top quality fit footballer and if you create the right atmosphere and

mentality, players look forward to playing when they are playing well

and if they have had a bad game, the sooner they play the next game, they

are ready to put themselves right and get back into form. You played

in some very big games in the FA Cup. Did you enjoy them, playing in

this magnificent stadium? Absolutely loved the FA Cup and players from

all over the world recognise the FA Cup for the history that it has and

the significance of the competition, so for me it has to remain a

priority for every football club and I don't think Manchester City have

respected that. Do you think Chelsea will have far too much experience in

the middle of the park? Yes, Mikel and Fabregas, with Willian in

behind. The only experience City have is Fernando in that area, he's

going to need to direct his younger team-mates around him to make sure

they keep that Chelsea midfield at bay. You can go back to having some

selfies and autographs again now, the crowd are waiting! Back to you,

So, as for Chelsea's opponents, Manchester City still have the

chance of a clean sweep of domestic trophies before Manuel Pellegrini

leaves. Like his opposite number, the Chilean is an experienced

manager and won two trophies in his first year at City. However, he'll

leave the club at the end of the season when pep Guadiola takes

charge at the Etihad. We have been speaking to him. You have described

this as not a big football match. When you get here, does that change?

No, I didn't say that, we have a young team, we are to prioritise and

for the amount of players we have at this moment to play, after that,

there are a lot of questions. It will be a very good game. Lots of

young talent in the side today. Many people watching will not have heard

of some of them. What should we expect? I expect from them to have

the performance that we know they can do. Good players they have had

working with us, a lot during the week, so I expect their performance

and, after that, in football, there are so many things that decide how

the game is and nobody know who is can win. The Champions League and

the Capital One Cup final coming up after this? I don't know exactly the

priority, but I think playing on Sunday on Wednesday, we have a long

travel to Kiev, of course it's important to keep some players

without taking the risk of injury. Maybe we have a complete squad we

play on Saturday, maybe if we have a strong team we didn't have a player

but at this moment, we cannot take the risk. I wish you the best. Thank

Ukraine to face Kiev on Wednesday, as Pellegrini said. That's in the

Champions League. They land back in Manchester in the early hours of

Thursday morning, so prepare for Sunday's League Cup final against

Premier League a week on Wednesday, 3,600 miles in 11 days. Overall, how

would you assess Pellegrini's time at Manchester City? Travelling in a

private jet though, Gary! Do they? ! LAUGHTER

If I remember rightly he was told when he took over that he had to win

at least five trophies in five years is what the director of football

said. He's won the two, still got a chance for another four, so I think

that's, we have got to wait until the end of the season, because if he

goes on from now until the end of the season and wins another two, it

would have been an extremely successful time. They might change

their minds then. What do you think? Management now, it's such a tough

business, as you know yourself, you can be doing very well and everyone

is saying how great you are, three weeks later everyone wants you out?

Yes, it's the short-termism now of football, it's incredibling.

Manuel's done a fantastic job though. When he came into Manchester

City, at the time they were broken, he came in and he has allowed the

players to play and worked them well. He done a brilliant job at

Villarreal when he was there and at Malaga. I think he's done great.

Obviously pipped us to the title a few years back. If he can add

another trophy, he'll be looking to do that certainly and, if he does,

he'll have a very successful period. City fans can perhaps take comfort

in the fact that when Guadiola was about to take over in Munich, he did

the same but unusual to have this in English football, a manager knowing

he's going to leave at the end of season and another is coming in?

Yes, as Brendan said, it's common practise abroad, but he's been

nicknamed the charming man of the City supporters, he's a gentleman. I

think the job he's done, steadying the ship since Mancini days has been

superb and he's ready to pass the baton on. If he can win two or three

trophies, he'll win at least one or two, it will be a successful time

and he'll be remembered fondly. One man who has been at the heart of the

Manchester City midfield this season is Fernandinho, the Brazilian joined

the club for ?34 million at the same time Pellegrini arrived in

Manchester and won the league and League Cup that season. We went to

speak to him. I'm at one of the Premier League

stars ie home, not only has he won the title but also the League Cup

title. This year, they are in it for the quadruple. It's cold, come in.

During the winter we play here inside. Sometimes after the game

when I come home tired or sad when we lost the game and he try to play

football with me, it's important because this come from him. You grew

up in Brazil where it's hot, a different style of playing and your

son is growing up in Manchester. First is the weather! Yeah! The

weather's slightly different! Yeah. Enyou were growing up, who was your

idol? The Brazilian goalkeeper. So did you want to be a keeper? Yes.

When I was ten, I played as a goalkeeper. Always in my day I go to

play every Sunday morning, I went to the beach with the ball, went in the

goal waiting for the other boys to kick the ball and I tried to defend.

So after that, I got a call saying, you need to play, don't be a keeper!

What was it like working with Manuel Pellegrini? The first season we both

tried to come to City. He was like a father for me. He brought me into

the team. I think he did a great job. So if you had a chance to win

the title again, I hope he can do that. You beat Chelsea 3-0 at the

start of the season. Do you think you can repeat that performance?

There was a nice goal from you in there as well? Yes. I was so glad to

score. A beautiful goal, an important goal against a good team.

I think this kind of competition is always good. The play-offs and

knockouts. You cannot make any mistake. Your level of concentration

should be a little bit high. You have the whole week to prepare the

game very well and this is going to be a great, great match.

Living the dream! Full pitch in his house. Full pitch in your house

haven't you? ! Pretty consistent this season, isn't he, Brendan? He's

really pushed on. Playing against him with my teams, he had good legs

but this season he's really kicked on and shown how good he is

technically and a big influence. Fernandinho is on the bench today

but Iheanacho is playing, he's played quite a few and reasonably

impressed aren't you? Very impressed the early stages of looking at him.

He's not scared to score. He wants to get in the position to score

goals. Looks as if he enjoys. Explain not being scared? Not scared

to miss is as important as well, because, as you know, you are going

to miss chances and you show character by getting in there and

wanting to score goals and not being scared to miss again. The good thing

about this is that, you often hear about people. He's got loads of time

to think about it, but that doesn't seem to faze him. Looks where it is

and puts it away. Enjoying scoring is a great things for a forward

because once you get the taste and smell, you want more and you are

hungry for it and he's got that. A real talent? His link-up play is

great too. He looks a cultured player, his touch-up play and

link-up play is good. He's getting knock downs, anticipating shots

bouncing off the keeper. He never looked like missing the ball there

against Aston Villa and he looks like the ultimate goal-scorer.

Whenever he's had chances, he's never disappointed. The draw for the

quarter-finals follows this match, so who will be in it, Chelsea or

Manchester City? Your commentary team as the two teams walk out,

hoping to see a real game, something that Manuel Pellegrini doesn't feel

this is. It all seems real and it's a real chance for Manchester City's

junior Blues to show us and no doubt very interested pep Guadiola just

strange that we have Chelsea against Manchester City in the FA Cup, here

we are getting into the back end of the season and neither boss will be

there next season. Manchester City's substitute bench

has some usual suspects on it, along with Barker and Humphreys, 19 and 17

respectively. Potential debutant on Chelsea's bench is the New York Red

Bulls Miazga. Kolarov and Ivanovic captains today. The referee is Andre

Mariner. He was also the referee in the fourth round here last year,

Chelsea 2, Bradford City 4. That was an upset. In Manchester City's

line-up today, if Chelsea lose this one, it would also be an upset, Guy?

It will be interesting to see how they do, but I really think that

they should do well with him on the pitch, this is an attacking

midfielder, capable of good set plays as well, it is a good chance

for him to shine this afternoon. Norway under 21, also playing

international football for Kosovo, the country of his birth, not yet

recognised by Fifa. Away we go, Chelsea at home in their Chelsea

blue. Manchester City in change colours, described officially as

ghost green... Will their young players be a phantom menace for the

Chelsea stars(!) Pedro scored two goals in the

demolition job on Newcastle that was done here, last weekend. Did not

take Chelsea long to set upon the scoring trial eight days ago, 2-0 up

inside nine minutes, and 3-0 by the time 17 had been played. Willy

Caballero, directing his central defenders away from the penalty

area. And they oblige. A centre-back who would love to be playing today,

but John Terry, missed the game against PSG, and the also misses

today because of the hamstring injury that he picked up against

Newcastle. -- he also misses. Cesar Azpilicueta picked out.

Safely finding Tosin Adarabioyo. Garcia... A little bit of time for

Gary Cahill on the ball. Cesc Fabregas managed to move away

from his marker, who is now tracking him.

What a great start by the young Frenchman. Supreme confidence, a

couple of nutmegs. From the away end, we can hear come on city

but he finds Aleksandar Kolarov... It is into Kelechi Iheanacho. If

some eyebrows were raised in the Chelsea dressing room at the make up

opponents today, then they are already working decent in the

Forcing Thibaut Courtois into a decent save will stop a lot of these

young lads look very confident early in the game, it is a bright start.

Is only 19 years old, David Faupala, he signed from Nantes Andy was

apparently wanted by Watford, he was not allowed to leave, and hence the

disagreement which led to him leaving. It is a brave formation in

many ways, against a much more experienced Chelsea side. This is

the little bit of skill, got a bit fortunate, this is lovely.

Good start, good start. Good closing down from David Howe parlour and --

David Faupala and Kelechi Iheanacho. Effortless, really.

There is room for Cesar Azpilicueta, if he can get there. Not quite. Back

on his favoured side. At least temporarily, with John Terry out of

the side, Branislav Ivanovic in the middle. He looks more balanced when

they have right on right and left on left.

He will chase it, Iheanacho, and he will eat up the ground. John Obi

Mikel, scored the goal that God Chelsea level for a time, but some

question about his involvement in the free kick which gave PSG the

lead earlier than that, seemed to open the door sideways, so he was

both hero and villain in midweek. Iheanacho. Looking for David

Faupala. Bitter visitation. -- bit of

hesitation. Willian... Should leave plenty of room for

Chelsea to exploit as the game develops. Sluggish start. Giving

away a couple of square passes. 16 ages in the Manchester City side,

one 20-something, Fernando, 28, and four who have gone past the 30 mark.

Diego Costa. Do we age spectrum Martin Demichelis to pick him up

rather more often? -- do we expect. It really depends upon whether they

play zonal marking, Diego Costa could choose to stand on Tosin

Adarabioyo, to try to ruffle him up and see what he is made of. He knows

what he is about. I would be standing on him, I would be asking

for the ball to be played into him. Rather ironic that the most shaky

start in a Manchester City shirt has been made by Willy Caballero,

looking shaky on the ball there, but he is one of the most experienced

players. This is a worry for Chelsea. Gary Cahill has picked up

an injury which requires treatment. Is not somebody who goes down unless

he has a problem, tough lad. Just got his chance with the injury to

John Terry. This could be a big blow for him, and for the team. Could be

a big moment for Matt Miazga, the 20-year-old, one cap for the USA

national side. Gary Cahill moving OK, as he temporarily leaves the

field. Why did he go down in the first place? He seemed to be trying

to stretch something. On with the game, Chelsea with ten

at least for the moment. Wanting to slow things down until

Gary Cahill can come to the field again.

Trying to move away from Garcia. Taking an Pablo Zabaleta, and he has

run it out. -- taking on. The heights he set himself last season,

Eden Hazard, early in the season he was OK, buying quite well, just not

scoring many goals, but it is amazing what has happened... That

out of the side, affected his confidence. Could have affected him

as well. He is certainly not the player he was last season, which has

been a big part of why Chelsea have struggled, he was so instrumental

last season. Is the one goal this season, penalty, last round, MK

Dons, had to wait an age to get that 50th goal for Chelsea. Misjudgement

from Martin Demichelis, Chelsea supporters howling for a free kick,

Aleksandar Kolarov coming in on Diego Costa, already wearing the

protective mask...! Seems to have taken a blow in that area again. He

stuck his legs out as he jumped into the air, Alexander Kolarov, he is

entitled to do that but he may have caught him in the face. Well, I hope

so, because I would hate to see that he is exaggerating by holding his

face. You can see it here now... I think it is where he has landed on

him, I don't think there is any malice... He has caught him with his

arm, actually. And then landed on him, for good measure(!) is that a

foul? Any business jumping like that? That is not a foul to me. The

usual arms to get up there, get above the man that you are competing

with. I am sure that Diego Costa will have it marks down in his

little black book(!) another one of the masked avenger

there, Cesar Azpilicueta. A lot of chasing so far from Eden

Hazard. Touch back to Pedro, Cesc Fabregas,

Pedro, looping it over Willy Caballero... But squarely against

the post! Chelsea played their way in

beautifully, there are. -- there. Really bright start from the young

side, but Chelsea control at the moment. If you ever want to see two

players on the same wavelength. That may have needed to be saved by Willy

Caballero because it came off of Pablo Zabaleta. A couple of players

who have played together many times, Pedro knows when the ball goes into

fabric gas, news going to get it back. Delicate little finish. --

when the ball goes in two Cesc Fabregas. Taking the corner... Easy

catch for Willy Caballero. That is what you expect from Pedro,

good running from the ball -- on the ball, good movement. 'S the old Nou

Camp combo, we Chelsea having no midweek game, this next week, I

would not be surprised if they put on a disguise and put on a disguise

and went to see their old friends, at the Emirates pressure on Bersant

Celina, could not find Eden Hazard out wide. 0-0, 14 and a half bright

though he was going to the ball, rugby union style, and I know that

he is a fan, because he used to watch rugby, when he was back in

Argentina. Close down again by the very willing and impressive David

Faupala. He has covered a lot of ground, dropping in, playing like a

number ten, when Chelsea get the ball.

Real ninth Manchester City goal in defeat to Spurs. Two appearances,

four goals, hat-trick at Villa, in the last round. Manchester City have

already done it twice in the competition, away to fellow Premier

League sides, three nil at Villa, 4-0 at Norwich.

Fabregas. Diego Costa. Baba Garcia with a trick or two, wins it. Pablo

Zabaleta is going to come across and take it, just wondering about him,

the goalkeeper, how important are their roles, they have got to

concentrate on their own goals and be the educators as well. Talking,

communication, it helps sometimes, five yards, drop, push up... Little

things, little bits of wisdom and information at the right time. That

you don't get when you play with people of that age. I remember

people like Jamie Redknapp, the Maha man, more experienced them myself,

just talking you through as the game goes along and becomes more

difficult -- Dietmar Hamann. I bet you had a word back! Not in the

early days! Eden Hazard will chase it. Willy Caballero was always

favourite to get the ball. Always encouragement, sometimes, feeling

that those around you trust you. I remember my first initiation,

first-team football, for Liverpool, I had Paul Ince in my ear after

three minutes for giving the ball away. I can tell you, that certainly

was not encouragement(!) Willy Caballero with the big boot. Baba

Deflected but kindly for Thibaut Courtois. The shape is quite rigid,

4-4- two. 4-4-2 --. Means that they are giving up a lot of possession.

Fabregas, allowed to take it and turn. The shot is grateful each

smothered by the keeper, right into the breadbasket. -- gratefully

smothered. This time it is Pedro, feeding fabric gas -- Cesc Fabregas

who has got a great little position. Easy for Willy Caballero.

shuffling, moving left to right, it is going to be a hell of an

afternoon if they are not brave in possession. Boot raised dangerously

high by Fernando on Fabregas. Apology accepted, free kick given.

With the aerial power that Chelsea have in the back four, difficult for

the two strikers when the ball is kicked along. You have got to play

out and be brave when they are kept in possession. -- caught in

possession. Easier said than done. Trying to take possession from

Hazard, Pablo Zabaleta. John Obi Mikel L... Seems a different player

these days, John Obi Mikel L, since taking his place in the team. --

John Obi Mikel. Nice curling cross, Willy Caballero has made an awful

mess of that, it is looped out play. Not particularly inspiring

goalkeeping. Not a bad ball in. Not sure what he was thinking. A little

bit careless from Baba Rahman, it will be a Manchester City free kick.

You mention Mikel and I think that he deserves credit for coming back

into the side and playing as well as he has. He has been a Chelsea a long

time, he knows how to play it with discipline. He knows what his

boundaries are with the football. That is the biggest strength in a

fire sometimes, knowing what you are, what you can do, and he

certainly does that role as well as... Probably in the top three in

the Premier League. Screening the back four. Nemanja Matic sitting on

the bench. Pedro was the deepest Chelsea player, there are. But under

pressure by David Faupala. -- put under. Moving the right way. Hazard.

Pedro... Pablo Zabaleta, making sure he stays in front of Hazard. Garcia

keeps running. Hazard past Pablo Zabaleta. Easily

chested to Willy Caballero from Aleksandar Kolarov, working that out

before the ball arrived. Good move by Chelsea, Hazard does well to beat

his man, but only Diego Costa is in the box. Willian is not in there,

now, losing the ball rather easily to Baba. Very nicely done by the

Chelsea building, Manchester City doing a very good job, keeping them

out so far. Biggest test has come because of their own goalkeeper

looking rather uncertain. Having to work hard, really hard, to stop

laughing, but we have been practising that name for about an

Adarabioyo. Kolarov. A spell of possession that City have had for a

while. This is what we are talking about, just to get confidence and a

bit of a breather. Zabaleta curling it around, wanting Faupala to get on

to it and Chelsea between themselves work out it's going harmlessly

behind. Let's get the thoughts so far of Graham Le Saux on the

touchline. Watching the first ten minutes, City did well, well

disciplined in terms of the way they set up and pressed Chelsea high. The

big change for me was when Fabregas went from a deep position to 30

metres further forward and he's caused all of Chelsea's

opportunities and City's problems. Chelsea 66% possession as well so

dominating particularly in midfield. Maybe a chance here, thanks, Graham,

as Pedro tangled with Kolarov. Kolarov claims handball Pedro. And

neither get anything. It was handled. Yes, it was. Graham

makes a good point. It's simply a numbers game in the middle of the

pitch. Because Fabregas is higher up, it's a three versus two, it's

really difficult then for Garcia and Fernando to pick up and they have to

play zonal, hence the fact you give up the ball, you give up possession.

Talking of a numbers game, it's the first time I've seen a game with 72,

76 and 75 on the field together. 77 is on the bench. Iheanacho.

Courtois. Just for a second wasn't sure it was rising sufficiently.

Comes from Faupala. Good ball to Iheanacho and why not. Confidence to

take the strike on and it's a decent strike actually. Free kick for

Willian. Zabaleta in the way of the cross.

his Manchester City debut against Chelsea way back in 2008. This is

his 291st game for the club. Cha a player he's been for City.

Hazard. Hazard. Diego Costa! Chelsea finally find a way through. It was

another one of those lifts over the top that led to the goal and, with

Caballero looking uncertain, defenders hesitant, that was

probably the easiest goal that Diego Costa's scored this season.

Not many players in the Premier League that see things like

Fabregas. Every little pass was positive, creative. Hazard knows

Costa's in there, loops the ball up with his left foot, puts it on an

absolute plate for him and they just deserved that. They have been

probing for a little while now. And that was a goal of high quality,

very hard to defend against. Such good passing and movement. Taken

until the 35th minute of the game but it's Chelsea 1 and this young

Manchester City side 0. Diego Costa's scored for the fourth home

game in a row. His 13th for the season. Tackle from Cahill now on

Iheanacho. We are on to the next phase of the

education stage for the City youngsters. And here is Iheanacho

poking it back and it's in! They are level already!

Faupala goes to celebrate with Iheanacho. Mad celebrations in the

away end. Chelsea switched off and City have

made them pay. They passed that test rather quickly

didn't they, how to react from a setback. Good link-up play, he's on

side. And whether he's had a shot or cross, I'm not sure, he's probably

shooting there, Iheanacho. But it doesn't matter, they are back in the

game. Give him the benefit of the doubt, I think he's picked him out.

Super pass. Good save from Courtois actually. Azpilicueta's attempted

clearance straight against the boot of Faupala and look at Manuel

Pellegrini! Some questioned his selection, some said he was to being

this one off, prioritising was the way he put it. He wants to win this,

young team or not. Of course. It's a wonderful opportunity for these

young players to show they have got the ability to play at this level.

And the reaction from going a goal down was superb. A bit fortunate

with Azpilicueta's experience, but he'll take that. Chelsea caught

napping. We have a cup tie on at Stamford Bridge, 1-1.

Amazing how many teams are vulnerable as soon as you score.

Faupala's work and performance overall has earned him that goal. He

hasn't stopped. Defensively as well, he's trying to do his bit for the

team. They all are. Hazard. It's another one lifted

across, but the flag is up against Pedro. I don't think he was.

He's been busy on that side with the flag. It's again that movement I'm

talking about with Pedro. Oh, yes. A foot. A boot.

Only takes one. Look at what happened here after Manchester

City's players went away from that corner in which the players were

celebrating. We had that yesterday at West Brom. That is absolutely

disgraceful. Adarabioyo. Not the best clearance.

Straight to Mikel. Pedro. Fabregas. Got it through

again. Hazard to Fabregas. Pedro! Beaten away by Caballero. That is a

fine save. Pure reactions. Brilliant save.

After a couple of dodgy moments earlier, he's redeemed himself

there. Pedro unlucky again after a few good moments from Chelsea.

He should score really. Pedro will be expecting to score there. Keeps

getting in. Is it testimony to just how well

Manchester City are doing here, because Chelsea are playing very

well? Well, yes. And they're off again.

Hazard again. Sold Willian short. Kolarov away. Cahill. Picked up by

Celina. Celina is running past him. Garcia.

Kolarov. Manchester City's team with an extra injection of confidence

about them now. At this age, six teenagers, they should be confident?

You don't overthink the game, physically it can get to you a bit

as the game goes on, but I agree, Chelsea have done well, everyone's

getting opt ball for Chelsea and making things happen and they're

defending in two banks of four and limiting them to the odd chance here

and there. It's very difficult playing against such quality

opposition. They'll get tired. There are so many

of them out there putting in a lot of hard yards to stop Chelsea trying

to play at the moment. Fabregas drifting away from Fernando. Costa

out to Pedro. Pedro popping up on all sides. Pedro's shot deflected by

Adarabioyo. And it will be a corner. Probably been the biggest threat for

Chelsea as Pedro is popping up on both sides, getting in the danger

zones. Getting shots off. Good defending again from Adarabioyo.

Hazard again. Willian. Shot blocked by Adarabioyo. Iheanacho. Just

wondered if Willian moved the wrong way there. He could have come out to

his left and slotted somebody in. I think that's why he tried to go the

other way. Sometimes you make the wrong decision at the last moment,

but good play again. Pedro. Zabaleta. Pedro managed to keep it

in. Now it's out for a Chelsea throw and Chelsea look to be really trying

to build up ahead of steam as we approach the half way stage.

Noticeable pick up in pace to their play. Willian. Shot on for Willian

and Caballero knew it was going wide. Spot on. They have played with

a good intensity. Sometimes this is Willian chance, he's very good at

this, making a bit of space for himself. They've played with good

tempo and the reason I say that is a positive thing is because when you

play against the side with a lot of unknowns and a lesser team than you

expect on paper, you can take your foot off the gas and your

performance becomes a bit lethargic. They haven't done that today, they

have been right at it and played and the passing has been good. When they

have got in the final third, they have tried to make things happen.

Manchester City got a free kick there and have taken it quickly.

Kolarov. Faupala. City throw. Time added on to the end of the

first half now and a couple of minutes to go.

Garcia tackled by Willian. Mikel finds Baba. Tripped by Faupala.

Chelsea have the advantage. Costa. Demichelis stretches out a

leg, Chelsea get a corner. Good play again and good movement from Costa.

Well defended. Lifted across where Kolarov climbs

highest to clear and clears again from Hazard's shot.

Adarabioyo waiting for it. Cahill's header does no harm. Caballero with

a quick bowl-out for Faupala. Celina. Ivanovic. Trying to tee up

Iheanacho there. Not seen much of Celina. Picked him out earlier but

he's not had much of the ball. Just then, I wanted him to try to commit

and go past on the left foot. Pedro. Maybe one last Chelsea chance before

the break. Hazard. Cleared again by the very solid Adarabioyo. Done

really well. Looks as if nothing phases him. Which is exactly what

you want. Yes. I like the fact he stays on his feet a lot, he's not

diving in, making rash challenges, trying to fight within he doesn't

have to. -- when he doesn't have to. Very calm performance. Chelsea take

too long over the corner. Before it's taken, the half time whistle

goes and it will be the team in ghost green who will be the more

pleased of the two teams at the break. Chelsea went ahead, Costa put

them ahead. Manchester City hit back instantly through 19-year-old

Faupala. 1-1 at half time. Honours even at half time as the two

teams walk off the field. Thoroughly entertaining first 45 minutes.

Plucky stuff from Manchester City's youngsters. It's been a very good

first 45 minutes. Chelsea have passed it with energy. Fabregas

pulling the strings in midfield. To City's credit, the way they bounced

back straightaway, obviously a big disappointment for them to go behind

but the way they came back straight at Chelsea should give them enurge

can't for the second half. -- encouragement for the second half.

Two upfront, it made it even more impressive in the sense that they

held it together? They have done well. Set up to close the middle of

the pitch, the two young boys on the side are keeping it compact with the

midfield. It's difficult because you want a striker maybe to drop in,

into Fabregas or Mikel, but you drop into one, the other one gets it. You

can only go so far as the striker back in, but I think they've blocked

the middle of the pitch well, tried to show them the sides and the

reaction to come back from when they went behind is very good. Trevor,

who have you made of the Manchester City strikers? Plucky. They've got

stuck in. They've certainly not gone out there and been scared. Very

brave on the ball. Started really well. As Fabregas started to get

more on the ball and dictate the game, it became more difficult. They

started well and yes, I think they've shown a good account of

themselves. A familiar face or a masked face at the moment scored the

first, Alan? A very, very good goal from Chelsea's point of view. What I

would actually say about City is, one of those forwards there,

Iheanacho or Faupala, they have got to sit back on Fabregas. They are

both upfront, one's got to two towards the ball and one's got to

try to head the midfield out. It's the inexperience, exactly the same

thing again, because Fabregas is pulling all the strings, controlling

the game in midfield and having far too much time on the ball. If one of

the guys can get in, make the fifth one many midfield to try and cut it

out before it starts, that'll help them build into the game. Their

incruise yasm's been fantastic. The way the two guys have ran around

upfront and caused problems, I've been very impressed, but it's that

little bit of experience and that's where the goal started from. Chelsea

are passing it with pace and with energy. Hazard on the ball.

Eventually, it falls to Fabregas again. What a pass that is. Another

brilliant pass from Hazard and he's free in the middle. It's just that

little bit of lack of experience from the guys and I'm sure that's

what Manuel Pellegrini will be saying to one of them at half time -

when we haven't got the ball try and get one of you into the midfield to

help the midfield out because that's where they are struggling at this

moment in time. When you have straight lines, t easy to get

between the lines isn't it, Brendan? Especially against a 4-4-2. The

point Alan is making is right, don't press the centre halves, just come

in and screen and block and the second information you are probably

saying, every time Fabregas is on the ball, get his head down because

the minute he gets it up, he plays over the top. Speaking of Fabregas,

we have seen some exquisite passes, what a glorious feel he has for a

football? We amongsted before the game about a lot of the guys are

playing to near where they were last year and Fabregas is without doubt

one of them. Pedro should go that first time, I don't think he needs a

touch there. It's on his left foot. I don't think he news a touch. He

cuts the angle down -- needs a touch. Another way to pass there,

from Fabregas intoes can too. He's pulling the strings there. He's

dominant in there, Brendan. Yes. He's one of the few players you see

in the Premier League, that penetrates with passing and plays

those through-balls. You don't get so many of those.

It's great when you see that. We see too often play, don't want to take

risks and, when he's in them positions, he always does and he

makes things happen. If he has the ball to his feet, you can make a

run-in and more often than not, he'll find you. If he has time to

pick his head up, it's difficult to get him to stop. He's creating

chances left right and Centre for The Chelsea team. He's not running

all over either. Midfield players stand in holes and wait for the ball

to come. If one of the young boys, if they can just go like that and

try and help them out. How deep do they follow them in there? Talking

about the young boys upfront, Faupala looks a handful, great start

to the game then obviously scored the goal as well? Reminds me of John

Hartson, a big lad and I'm sure Cahill won't want to play against

him every week. Aerially he's good, lot of commitment, puts himself

about. Poor defending from Azpilicueta. Great reaction from the

City lads. Great response. They have just conceded. Good move going

forward and, I mean, for a centre forward who loves scoring, that's

great awareness. You used to have a great cross into the ball, and

that's appreciation of the game. Myself and Brendan were saying about

Azpilicueta. Maybe he can actually just come clear with his left

instead of the right but it takes a little touch.

Another chance Faupala very early in the game actually. Early signs, we

thought he looks like he can play, a bit of John heart sown about this?

None of the young Man City boys, they have played with no fear. They

have been willing to run and work. He's obviously got a wee bit of luck

with the touch, but wonderful bit of skill, gets himself in and he's done

very, very well. He's been a real handful for the two. Great

confidence here. Nutmeg. And gets the shot, yes. The first thing you

have to do as a forward, you have to make sure the two guys that are

marking you are going to be in for a game and, in the first 45, he's

actually said that to them. John Hartson will be chuffed. Jason is

with Graham. Let's look at the incident where

Manchester City got the goal. There were a number of coins thrown from

the Chelsea end. A security official confirmed that Michael Jones was

given a number of coins from the referee and, after what happened to

Chris p brunt yesterday in the pretty unsavoury Sans at Reading

yesterday, no doubt that might be an issue for the Football Association.

On to happier matters and a decent cup tie here, Graham? Certainly

have. Chelsea dominating possession as the guys said in the studio. The

flow to their game is excellent. The pace and the tempo. I've been

impressed with Amman, the leftback, he's a wonderful crosser of a ball,

he's got forward every opportunity and they are just playing really up

against City and trying to play on the line as well. City are taking

chances. You have been impressed with the City young players who

don't seem phased about coming up against the likes of Fabregas and

Costa? Yes. On the few occasions they have had decent possession, the

City players look comfortable and positive in possession and again, as

the guys said, with the two of them upfront, Iheanacho and Faupala, with

them up there by themselves, when City do win the ball, they are close

to each other so can get on the back of Chelsea quickly. They need more

possession and they need a bit more control of possession to get it up

to the players. Once they are in those positions, they look like they

are playing with freedom. There's quality in the team. I would like to

see some more experienced Manchester City players playing alongside them

and maybe there not being so many young players on the pitch. Thank

Moses. And now it breaks and this time West Ham do have the security

of a third goal. And they will take their place in the quarter-final of

the FA Cup, courtesy of Emenike. Payet on towards Emineke who is on

side and will surely finish it off once and for all? ! Yes, he does.

Payet with the through-ball and Emineke grabs his second goal as a

West Ham player and seals a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals of 2016.

Payet again. He wants to grab another assist or a goal, he doesn't

mind which. It's going to be a solo goal and it's a picture-book ending

to another virtuoso display from one of the most gifted players in the

top division of the English league. With so much talent in their ranks,

who'd back against them winning the cup itself? !

The first couple of seasons I felt had went well, we were building

towards a title challenge and just fell short. The last six months

became difficult and of course, listen, the owners wanted to improve

and felt they needed to make the change. I thoroughly enjoyed my time

there, I loved Liverpool, great club. It's just a case of getting a

breather because you see with managers, the Spotlight is on you

when you're in it, and it's difficult so hopefully in the summer

I get the chance to get back in again. In terms of the next job,

here in England again the Premier League or would you like experience

abroad? trois I have had a couple of offers

to go abroad. I'm open. We hope that something comes up for you. The

second half is about to get under way, in a couple of moments time,

They certainly have the experience, they have played well enough in the

first off, as Allen has said, there may be a period after 65 minutes

when they make a change. -- Alan If they can get up and support more

urgently, I think they have a chance of scoring another goal. Second-half

about to get underway, Danny and Guy . COMMENTATOR: No changes to either

midfielder, it is great to see him playing with this competence again.

He has not had the best of seasons. When he is like this, when he has

time on the ball, there is not many better at opening up a back four,

Thibaut Courtois. Backheel from Diego Costa, did not

deceive Al-Arabi Oyo -- Adarabioyo. Asking Elizabeth too much of

Iheanacho. -- asking a little bit too much. Looking at the substitute

the Manchester City, Raheem Sterling, Vincent Kompany, two of

the more senior names amongst them. Beginning his comeback from his most

recent calf trouble last weekend, Vincent Kompany. With that in mind,

it is bizarre to have him on the bench. If you are going to start

him, fine, get him some fitness. If you are not, coming on as a sub

issued, a man with a persistent calf problem, you would think that was

City have done this a lot this season, no matter who has been in

the back four, they try to squeeze up, a high line, when there is no

That was pinpoint stuff. We talk about the runs from Pedro, trying to

beat the line, that is another exact example of it, you have got to drop

when there is no pressure on the ball, you cannot keep a high line on

the 18-yard box when you have runners, it is impossible. Chelsea

have the advantage again. This time, looking to hold it for a lot longer

that goal. Exactly what he will have sent his side back out for the

Guus Hiddink is pointing his way to the next stage of the FA Cup, lost

against Manchester City in the semifinals, but beating

for the offside flag but it never came. I have been a huge fan of

Pedro for many years, new has looked sharp today, and I have been amazed

that it has not gone better for him since he came here, obviously the

dip in form of the team, but he has been terrific today, sharp and

willing and hungry for goals. Caballero will be able to catch

that, Ivanovic and Kay Hill almost got in the way of each other. Such

was their eagerness to attack the ball. -- Cahill.

Eden Hazard moving in front of Diego Costa but not that far in front of

him. Look at Chelsea today, you think of how Chelsea worth so many

games in the first half of the season, it does make you scratch

your head. It is unbelievable. I cannot ever remember a team being so

good one season and then falling away the next. One thing is for

sure, they possess so much quality. This is the tackle by Fabregas,

catches Garcia a little bit late. They have certainly been better in

the last month or so, even in Perry, the other night, they played

reasonably well. -- Paris. They must feel confident in the second leg

that they can turn it around. That tie still very much alive.

Manchester City have an awful lot to do to keep this one going. Looks

like the 4- fronted attack will become free, at this stage, anyway.

I suppose, looking at the bench, Raheem Sterling is the fee is

seasons, Chelsea, but it is a matter of whether they do actually come

Expanding on that point by saying, Manchester City's under 18s clinched

the North division title yesterday, the U21s minus the players involved

here today beat Manchester United at the Etihad Eden Hazard, turned away

Hazard would be expecting to be on about ten this season, around this

stage, rather than just the one that he has got. He has got Willy

quickly enough, anyway, and Chelsea are almost certainly moving on

through to the last eight in the FA Cup. You can see by the smile on the

to stay in line with the ball, he has gone so far to the right, it has

almost bounced before it has gone in. Goalkeeping error. If you have

taken free kicks, if you have played the game, you know that the

goalkeeper needs to be that side of the wall, and the only way he can

score is getting it up and over the wall. We saw Dimitri Payet do that

earlier in the day. He knew where he was going to put it. It has been

executed well. But it should never go in, especially at that height. I

do not think it was a question mark, I think when he comes in, that

Guardiola is going to look at the number two goalkeeper. A lot of

goalkeepers do it, that is the side of the goal that you have got to

protect. They guess, guessed so early, he made it easy for Eden

Hazard. Chelsea leading 4-1. Manu Garcia, out to Pablo Zabaleta.

Not properly blocked. Iheanacho... Realised he could not turn in time,

so went for the impudent backheel, it may well have worked another day.

Good play by Pablo Zabaleta down that side. This is the confidence of

the man. I think maybe he would have been better turning and shooting,

There is going to be a change. It is a Chelsea change. Guus Hiddink has

satisfied himself that the game is as good as won, he is taking off

Diego Costa, who got the goal that gave Chelsea believe, albeit

briefly, in the first half. This was it. Exactly the type of goal that

you won your centre forward to be scoring. His form recently is a huge

plus. For the forthcoming weeks. His linkup play has been good. Looking

for the ball, spinning in behind. OK, he has played against an

inexperienced back for today. Pedro has been good as well, he has also

made way. Bertrand Traore and Oscar have come on. Both of them scored in

the last round at MK Dons. To the tune of three, in the case of Oscar.

Pedro deserves a mention, his performance was superb. Looks like

the Pedro that we have all come to know over the recent years. The word

We have the draw for the sixth round on BBC Two, from 6pm, Chelsea will

of to be involved at a tender age in such an experienced, good squad.

Second half, giving Chelsea a lot of credit, they have made it what it

looks on paper, which is men against boys in a way. Second half they have

been stronger, fitter, sharper. They have been more creative with their

passing, which is understandable of course, not a criticism of the City

young lads, it's exactly what should be happening when you have that many

senior internationals on the pitch against such inexperience. You can't

just play two or three senior players and expect them to carry the

rest. It's nearly impossible. I thought you were edging towards a,

you can't win anything with kids-type statement there. No. I do

say some silly things at times though. I think the problem today is

not not the fact that you are playing so many young players, it's

the fact that you are playing against such, such quality. You are

talking about a Chelsea side full of top class international players who

will not let themselves be undone by these boys, there is so much pride

in them. If Manchester City were against better opposition, you could

understand it. It's a difficult predicament. Everyone has their view

on it. Manuel Pellegrini has a tough week ahead and he's made his choice

now. Kiev in the Champions League and then a week today it's the

League Cup final, Liverpool at Wembley. First of two meetings in

four days with the red half of Merseyside. Listen, if they were to

come through the next two games, victorious, then he's justified in

what he's done today. The other thing is the invaluable experience

some of the youngsters have gained today by playing in this game.

The lads talked in the studio about the inevident stability of the

declining physical levels of this Man City team because of its age and

inexperience, that's what happened, Chelsea came out all guns blazing

and they couldn't cope with it. Pulled back for Traore. Oscar can't

get the chance to follow up. Some of Chelsea's passing in and around the

box has been sublime today. Good runs off the ball as well. Good good

ball in from Traore. Oscar can't keep it but wins it back from

Zabaleta. Chelsea's final change is about to

be made. Matic coming on for Mikel. He's getting just about a full-house

standing ovation as he leaves the field. He is reborn in a Chelsea

shirt. He's been very good today. He's so disciplined and it gives the

people around him to express themselves. The past few weeks he's

been terrific. I've played in games here against him when he's been

given some harsh criticism by the Chelsea fans in the past. Willian.

See that high line again from Manchester City, it's like they work

on the 18-yard line, but you can't have an offsideline if there's no

pressure on the ball. You have to drop when the players make the runs.

It's something that's been consistent throughout their season

in all the back fours no matter who is playing. This is the chance from

Traore and he'll be disappointed with that. . Oscar. Hazard.

I always try to think what the managers are thinking. The game's

won, you have a young lad who needs game-time and confidence, let the

fans see him, you know. They can't now. No, I know. I'm thinking, I

mean, the game was won wasn't it at 3-1 really. 20 minutes, half an hour

ago. Kolarov. Pellegrini's remained true to his

words today. Sterling, Kompany, Fernandinho on the bench. Iheanacho

given something of a gift. The last five minutes of Manchester

City's FA Cup season. Can Chelsea score a fifth? We have

already had one big penalty opportunity from the spot. Traore

trying to dummy it through. Faupala was in his way. Double bounce. Goal

kick City. Guus Hiddink had to change his coat

earlier on. He had a blue coat on, had to put a white one on,

apparently it might have been confused with those on the field. He

looks just as cool in both! Matic. Willian was moving into the

centre and it was Faupala and Fabregas and Fabregas is hurt more

of the two players. That needed saving by Courtois.

Always when Kolarov sees a gap he goes for it. He's got a terrific

shot. Manchester City, as their fans

always like to sing at the Etihad's stadium; will fight to the end.

It suits Ivanovic playing in that position. Not to have as much of the

ball higher up the pitch. John Terry seemingly on his way out of Stamford

Bridge. Zabaleta should tidy that up under pressure from Fabregas. Do you

think Ivanovic might be contender for the captaincy next season? Good

question. Maybe. It depends how many players they are bringing in,

whether they want to add more youth and athleticism to the back four.

His form for the majority of the season's not been up to the level.

Might be another chance here. Oh it is, it's another goal. Traore's

running away celebrating. He's going to claim it. Looping effort. To be

honest, Caballero didn't cover himself in glory. Chelsea have

number five for the second weekend in a row at the Bridge.

And that's as unorthodox a header as you are ever likely to see, but a

brilliant one. I think he means it. Give him the benefit of the doubt.

If nothing else, he's certainly trying to flick it on to Hazard. He

didn't need him. Listen, he's a striker, he knows where the goal is.

Maybe he's thinking, head it on towards the back post. Hope for the

best. But you are right, the keeper couldn't get anywhere near that.

He's done OK since he's come on, showed a threat, shown good pace.

been some terrific performances from Chelsea. Mikel, Pedro, but Fabregas

has to take the man-of-the-match award. He's a passing master class

from the middle of the pitch and yes, he hasn't had lots of pressure,

but you've still got to produce the passes and it's the Fabregas of old

and it's been a pleasure to watch him today.

The applause has started to ring round Stamford Bridge as we get into

the last minute or two. It's been a breeze for Chelsea but they were

tested thoroughly in the first 45 minutes. Hazard over to Willian.

Blue is the colour at Stamford Bridge! It's Chelsea blue that goes

into the quarter-finals. Six out of six in the FA Cup for Guus Hiddink

who has his eye on winning the famous old trophy for the second

time. For City, it's three defeats in a row for Manuel Pellegrini who

takes his team to Kiev hoping his selection decisions prove to be the

right ones. Chelsea just too strong in the end. Four second-half goals

and a missed penalty from Oscar and the final score at The Bridge is

Chelsea 5-1 Manchester City. Chelsea march into the quarter-finals of the

FA Cup with a very comfortable victory against an inexperienced

Manchester City side. There's Fabregas, the man-of-the-match. Very

comfortable second half as we suspected it might be? Yes. That

fitness told towards the last 20 minutes of the game but Chelsea were

the better team. City kids didn't let anyone down but came up against

a Chelsea side which were too good and had the right attitude. Can

throwing so many youngsters into a game like that affect their

confidence going forward, Brendan? It sometimes can. They were more

even in the first half. The two goals directly after half time

killed Manchester City. Whenever you make the changes and put the young

players in, if it finishes four, five or six up, it can sometimes

have the opposite effect because you have lost heavily and it adds that

bit more pressure going into the next game in Kiev. Trevor, you would

level more criticism at the experienced players of Man City?

Yes, the young players showed bravery and did well on such a big

stage. Second half, I thought the defending was poor. Demichelis

should have Don better. Caballero for the free kick, very par. We can

hear from two of Chelsea's match-winners today. Fabregas and

Hazard. Thank you very much indeed. Eden,

all comfortable in the end, 5-1 in the end, could have been more? Yes.

We did very well in the second half. The target is to win this FA Cup

and, if we want to win, we have to beat the best team. Manchester City

played with their second team but we did well and had to win. The fans

expected you to take the penalty. Did you not want it? Yes, I want,

but Oscar I think missed the last one and OK he missed one today, but

it's not important, the result, it was not a problem. Cesc ing did you

say he should have taken it? I said that. The confidence seems to have

come back into the entire squad? I think obviously you can'

straightaway we were playing better and better and the confidence, once

you start winning, it's growing and growing, that's football, that's

life, it happens in any job, in any part of life but we still have to

improve. We have big games coming up and, you know, obviously the

Champions League is a big challenge. We are do it. You have to be read

write for anything. Were you surprised to see City field so many

youngsters? Yes, I must admit, yes. I don't know if it was negligent or

positive for us, it was putting pressure on us. If you lose against

this type of team everyone would say we were humiliated so the pressure

was on us big time. We played the same time against Newcastle, three

days later we were in Paris to play against one of the biggest teams in

Europe, so we weren't surprised actually. Well done. Nice jacket by

the way. You had to borrow it after throwing your shirt into the crowd!

Very comfortable in the end and you come out in the second half, a goal

in the first minute or so does change things? I mentioned attitude

about Chelsea and it was perfect the start to the second half. They broke

into it quick. The ball falls to Willian, you see the guys attacking

them. They are into the defence of City and, with ease really,

Willian's not content with his pass, he wants a return ball, gets it,

superb finish but very poor defencevingly from Manchester City.

None of them go with him. Lovely Pass, lovely finish. Caballero make

it a tad easy for him? Very similar to the one in midweek in the PSG

game? He made his mind up didn't he? He did. He was at fault for the next

two goals, wasn't he? A good bit of movement on the line, but not what

you would want from your keeper. This is the Cahill one. It threw him

didn't it, Trevor? I'm sure if you asked him, he'd be disappointed that

he didn't get his body to it to at least deflect it away from goal.

Sometimes keepers say it's difficult when it's close to them. I feel he

had a good enough look at that and could have got there. But obviously

for the next one, the free kick, this is inexcusable for me,

especially the way that the players, you know, they are fighting for

everything and it was a last-ditch tackle from Demichelis. He set up

away from the wall and shuffled behind the wall and anticipated

something that didn't happen. Chelsea do well trying to block his

vision there. They have three players in there for a reason to

block him but you can't guess as a keeper and he's guessed. He's gone

for a dance on the line there. Sideway shuffle. He can't guess if

it's going to go over the wall. He should pick that up and take it with

ease. If you have got a player with the ability to get it up and down

over the wall from 20 yards, fair play but that is too easy.

Sometimes you see the keepers move, maybe take a step, but he took about

five steps so there was no chance he was getting it. Especially in that

side. Traore finished it off for them with that quite unusual header

really? He missed a chance earlier on and hit the post. Good header

though. Can't put any blame on the keeper. It goes across him quickly.

It's a decent header. He's flicked it on and will be delighted with

that because he scored a couple of goals when he come on as sub during

the season. He's done well. Do you think the penalty decision was harsh

Brendan? Very harsh. Defenders had pace. He's handballed it, if you

watch it again, it pops up and it's the young Chelsea player that

actually gets an arm on it. He's just been inexperienced Demichelis

and bumped him but there is no way it was a penalty so probably a bit

of justice. Fabregas is spot on about Hazard.

He should go and take that ball and put it down himself. Chelsea in good

shape with Hiddink. He must be the only manager in history that's never

lost an FA Cup tie? Must have a good feel for it, six ties, six wins,

they'll be looking forward to see who they pill out of draw. I never

lost an FA Cup tie as a manager. Very good. You lost other games
