So, you are going to be performing in the same place as people like

Bastille, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay...

How does that make you feel?

Just overwhelmed really, because, like,

I remember a few months back when I was just waiting for it

and now I'm finally here, it's just amazing.

There's not nerves, but I know when I get on

there's going to be real butterflies,

but I'm going to calm down.

Since the show, Amaria, how have things changed for you?

Well, when I go to, like, shopping centres or, like,

to the shop or something, I just get stopped in the street randomly.

Do you get people coming up to you, like, asking for autographs

and pictures and stuff?

Yeah, but my mum gets more than me.

Jasmine, you guys BOTH worked so hard

to get Amaria to this point today,

how are you feeling, are you nervous for her?

Oh, I'm definitely nervous, definitely proud.

All different emotions because it's such a big event for her to be at,

but it's where she's supposed to be.

I'm not shocked that she's here, and yeah, I'm quite excited.

Well, Amaria, it's going to be an amazing experience,

but before we get started,

let's take a little look at how you got here.

When 12-year-old Amaria arrived in the music mansion,

she made a big impression with her unique style.

I knew that I'd win.

But Amaria wasn't alone in her battle.

It was funny when my mum was in the zorb ball.

Cos at the end she got stuck and she needed help getting out.

has to be the musical bears,

when her and Bernice were fighting over one chair.

in the music mansion.

When I was in the sing-off, it was very nerve-racking.

But when I just heard the music start, I was just me.

But it was in the series semifinal at the recording studio

when she showed what she was REALLY capable of.

I felt comfortable and I felt like I was at home

Amaria will be performing on the BBC Introducing Stage,

which has helped launch the careers of superstars like

Florence And The Machine, Catfish And The Bottlemen and Jake Bugg.

Stepping out here is a huge opportunity, but a scary one.

But luckily for Amaria, she won't be going it alone.

With only a few hours to go till her big moment,

it can get you a little bit nervous cos in these daytime gigs,

So, Amaria, I know you're a fantastic dancer,

but what is your plan today?

Well, cos of the songs that I'm singing,

I'm going to be energetic,

but I'm going to be moving around the stage,

coming forward and just, like...

..letting the audience know, like, what I'm about and stuff.

Where do you get your confidence from?

Well, I get a lot of my confidence from my mum,

but at the same time, I get some of my confidence from Kevin.

I know you've been doing some training with Kevin,

how's that been going?

Well, he's been really helpful and he's been, like,

just giving me instructions, like, not to look down when I'm singing

and just, like, bring my audience into the song

so they can feel it as well as I do.

To help Amaria get prepared, she met up with Kevin Adams,

our games guru on the show.

But he's also a legendary choreographer,

who's worked with Take That and Mariah Carey.

This is a massive opportunity for Amaria because this is

a great platform to launch an artist.

Today, with Amaria, I'm going to be working on distraction techniques,

how she copes with things going wrong

and remembering that performance is everything.

This is the last time I get to see Kevin before my big performance,

so I'm really anxious and nervous.

-How are you, good?

-I'm all right, thank you.

The one thing that I need to work on is my eye contact because I'm always

looking at the ground when I perform,

I need to start looking at the audience.

Well, I'm wearing, like, a beige tracksuit with, like,

this matching jacket and brand-new white shoes,

so I have to try and keep them clean.

You have always had an amazing style,

where do you think you get your style from?

To be honest, I don't really know, it's just, like...

Like, when I watch, like, um, videos of other artists

and what they wear, this gives me an idea what I would like to wear.

You're definitely looking the part, Amaria,

how did you put this outfit together?

Well, I have a stylist, her name is Ayishat, and she, like,

looked at what I like to wear and then she just put it out for me.

It's a kind of urban look and this is what I like to wear,

and I feel comfortable.

I think it's a really unique outfit, Amaria,

and I think it looks really, really good on you.

To make a huge impression at the Big Weekend,

Amaria had to be styled like a superstar.

I think for an artist to have the right look is really key.

You can have a certain sound, but then if the image doesn't match up,

audiences can find it hard and confusing

and you just don't connect right.

Ayishat's style is very unique.

It will make a difference to my performance if I look the part

because if I look the part, then you know I'm going to smash it.

Is there any tips you can give Amaria about performing?

Um, all I'd say is enjoy it.

Like, when you're on stage, it's your moment to shine.

And usually when it seems like there's loads of people,

don't sort of focus on thinking how many people

or how many people are listening at home,

just enjoy your moment.

You're there, you've got this far because

you're that talented...

Just have fun with it and the crowd will have fun off of that,

-d'you know what I mean?

-Have you had any tricky or difficult

moments on stage?

Do you know what, there's been moments where...

OK, this is a good little... A little bit of experience

that will help you out as well.

For some reason the music stopped.

Um... Out of the...

And this time it was, like, "OK, we've got options here."

One, we stop with it and make a big moment of it,

or we own it and go in and do some sort of a cappella freestyle,

which is what I ended up doing,

and then it ended up being one of the most, sort of,

memorable moments for me and for the fans because they were like,

"Oh, wow, that thing where you went into that a cappella part,

"that was really cool,"

like it was all part of the whole thing.

So I'd say for you again, anything you're going to do on stage,

do it with confidence cos the crowd don't know what you're going to do.

Do you have any tips getting the crowd hyped up?

Yeah, I'd say you can always kind of engage the crowd and be like...

shout them out.

If you're here in Exeter, shout out Exeter, do you know what I mean?

They always love feeling like they're part of it,

but at the same time, as a performer,

I always still feel that it's your energy that gets them hyped,

do you know what I mean?

So... Cos sometimes you overthink it,

"Oh, I've got to say shout-outs..." Do what you're doing and do it well,

people are going to love it because

they're hyped that you're going to be on stage anyway.

They're like, "What?!" You'll get them hyper.

Um... You're going to kill it. I'm so excited.

After the brilliant advice from Craig,

Radio 1 royalty pops by to wish Amaria luck.

When you go on stage to DJ, what's it like?

Um... Well, for instance,

I've been out already today DJing on the Main Stage

and that's A LOT of people.

Um... I'm actually better with a large group of people

-than a small group.

-Yeah.

If it was ten people, that would freak me out,

but because there's, like, thousands...it's just people,

-do you know what I mean?

-Yeah.

You can't see their eyes, so it kind of works better if it's a big crowd.

I used to get so nervous before just doing anything with crowds,

but over the years at Radio 1 I've kind of become...not nervous,

I still get the real adrenaline and I pace up and down a lot beforehand

and just, like, think about... I don't know what, but just pace.

And, um... And then, as you know, before you know it,

you're on and you're off and it's over in a flash, so...

I think you've just got to enjoy it

-and not be terrified of it, you know?

-Yeah.

Do you have any tips to make it out in the music industry?

I would say always be nice to people,

always turn up on time and just try your hardest.

And just getting your stuff out there.

You know, with the internet now,

it's much easier to just have a platform, to just, like,

completely flood it with stuff and I think that's what needs to be done.

But you've got a great stepping stone

just by winning this competition, you know?

Well, I want to continue singing and I want to be, like, big.

I'm so happy for her, it was ace.

When I watched Amaria's performance,

it was a little bit emotional for me because obviously when I met Amaria,

she was really shy and she didn't really talk that much

and I didn't really, really understand what she was about.

But now I know her more and she's come so far.

It's just been amazing to see her grow that much.

I don't think I've ever known, in all of my time at Radio 1,

someone who is on the BBC Introducing Stage at the age of 13

and actually not fazed by it at all.

She's like, "Yeah, I'm cool."

Not nervous. That's exactly what you need if you're an artist.

So that's it. I think it's clear that here at the Big Weekend,

Amaria absolutely proved she's got what it takes.
